Star Hotel

The space was nice and intimate enough to where you somewhat feel like you’re in your own studio home. Only downside was that the WiFi did not work efficiently but when asked about it, the receptionist was very transparent about their ongoing issue and reassured that it is something they are actively working on. Definitely a respectable and professional establishment.

Hotel is in a nice area and a 10 minute walk to the underground. They charge 8 Euro to use the air conditioner. Room was clean but some of the outlets did not work. Hotel is alright for a 1 night stay but I will not be staying here again.

Location is great! There are lots of good restaurants nearby and it’s very close to several tube stations which makes transportation easy. Felt very safe with the fire brigade and police station down the street. However, it could get a tad loud with sirens throughout the night. Additionally, if you’re a light sleeper you might wake up when your neighbours above come in late at night. The walls a pretty thin. The toilet didn’t always flush properly in the room we were in and there was no air conditioning but the beds were very comfortable. Staff was helpful and kept the place very clean. We mostly just used the room for sleeping so it turned out to be a pretty good stay.

My sister and I were very disappointed with our stay at The Star Hotel in London. There was no breakfast provided despite it being advertised on the website. The courtyard also had a noticeable spider infestation, which made the entrance area quite unpleasant. Our room (number 30) was on the top floor, and there is no lift, meaning we had to carry a 23kg suitcase up several flights of stairs. Once inside, we discovered the radiator was stuck on full heat and the shower only ran boiling hot water, with no option to cool it down. The mattress was also extremely hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to sleep. Although we reported the heating and shower issues to reception, no one came to fix them. On the day of departure, the electricity to our room was switched off exactly at 10am, leaving us to get ready in the dark. When we went downstairs, the hotel appeared deserted with no staff present. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay, and I would not recommend this hotel to others.

Stayed for a week in Spring 2025 in a standard room, 2 people. We were full-on tourists add day long, so we basically only slept in the hotel. Loved: the place was very clean and we were surprised to have house-keeping every day. The staff we encountered were all incredibly kind, thoughtful, and helpful. The room had all we would need, very little frills, but solid accommodations. The hotel is in between 2 Tube stops, Shepard's Bush and Hammersmith. We used Hammersmith almost exclusively, as took about 10 minutes to walk vs 20 to get to SB. There were a lot of places to eat and bars in the area, but we never were there during the day to enjoy. There were even bikes nearby! Issues: the WiFi was abysmal--not weak, just not even there half the time. We relied to on it to make plans for the next day and Facetime home, so it was really hard to not have it. We wished they still did breakfast, that would have been amazing. I wish they had instructions for the outlets, as it was our first time in the UK and we didn't know to "turn on" the outlets and I shorted out something we had brought.

Nice hotel. But not super nice. Should consider a remodel to include an elevator. They wanted an additional £8/night for AC use, which I didn’t love. Also the shower door opens way too little. At 320 US pounds I had to squeeze through. Bigger people wouldn’t be able to get in. TV was insultingly small.

The reservation show hotel have wifi, but actually has no wifi at all. The wifi is not working at all, ask receptionist, but end up still No WiFi

Clean rooms, but pretty old building. It was cold in the room and there was a smell coming from the carpet. There are no lifts and I had heavy luggage, which I had to take up myself.

Had a lovely stay and was warmly greeted by reception. The room was cosy and I appreciated the extra pillow and blanket on the bed. The room and bathroom was also very clean and decorated to a good standard. Would definitely stay here again!

Very clean and tidy accommodations, with great service from receptionists and cleaning personnel. Comfortable bed and well equipped bathroom with a nice shower. The hotel is around 10 minutes away from two different underground stations and has multiple bus stations, restaurants, cafés, markets and stores around. The area is quiet and safe at night. As a female solo traveler, I felt safe in the area and at the hotel.

The area is nice. Very busy and a short walk to the train station. There is constantly sirens going by and the carpet seemed dirty.

front-desk was friendly and helpful. The place has no lift. Single rooms are really small and the place is dimly-lit. I think the property can consider changing to some brighter lights. The rooms were very clean and there is daily housekeeping. I booked the single room for about 87 GBP per night. I found it a bit overpriced for the value this hotel had to offer. They had very limtied amenities, no fridge, no washing machine or dryer for self-service laundry, no safe in rooms. My single room was so small i barely had space to open my luggage. My stay overall was pleasant. I just feel overcharged bc I found other hotels at similar prices with better facilities and ambience. Also, the security of the hotel is not the best. Many other hotels have stricter security systems that make you feel at ease during your stay. The front gate has no code or lock. Only the front door has a lock. I did not see any CCTVs in the corridors. There are no room safes also as previously mentioned. The location is great. There is a Tesco Superstore nearby that makes it very convenient to shop. There are also two stations it is near - Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush.

This is a charming, old building that's been converted to a hotel, with rooms of various sizes and shapes. Do be aware there's no elevator so you'll probably have to climb stairs, and the shower in our room was REALLY small. Other than that, it was great. About a 10 minute walk to the Hammersmith Underground station.

Stayed a couple of nights in March. Fantastic place to stay with reasonable rates and room sizes for London. Location is good for transport links, close to both Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush. Only downside was the shower - the way it was installed meant you could barely open the door and struggled to get in. Being up on the top floor also meant water pressure was low. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

We was supposed to get two beds, not one - room was very small, for the price probably not really worth it.

The location was great, only 10 minute walk to the tube station. There were lots of pubs and cafes in the area. The wifi was un-usable, there was no air conditioning and street noise was too loud to have window opened. The bed was not comfortable but the room was clean.

I had booked this on the basis of the good reviews, as I wanted a budget hotel in London for an overnight during a work trip. I was arriving around 10pm and would be leaving around 8am the following morning so just wanted a safe, quiet place to put my head down. My expectations were low but I actually had to leave the property shortly after arriving and pay for a much more expensive hotel nearby. I was handed a key to the room connected to the reception desk at the entry to the property. It had the signs PRIVATE and NO ADMITTANCE on the door, as quite clearly it was a staff room for reception staff. When I queried why I was not being given an actual hotel room, I was told that I "should have requested that when I booked online." I asked why I needed to request a proper hotel room when booking a hotel room! The woman on reception was incredibly rude and unhelpful, refused to let me speak to the manager (although she called and spoke to him but not in English so I could not understand the conversation). She repeatedly said I could leave. After being continually prompted to go look at the room I did. I could hear every sound in reception as there was a paper thin wall between the room and reception. It was sandwiched between reception, the front door to the property and the street with no noise insulation against any of those areas. There was also an unpleasant sewer like smell. I went back out to hand my key in and the receptionist said "oh good, you're leaving!"

The property is so cute and an easy walk to the train station to get downtown, the staff was absolutely lovely and so easy to ask questions about the local spots.

It’s four stars on the verge of three stars. Basically an old building of flats converted into a hotel. The rooms are just clean enough, but amenities are barebones. (Online pics show a free breakfast – but nope, not anymore.) Showerhead was broken, so washing was a struggle. Front desk is nice enough on check-in, but otherwise actively ignores anyone passing by. (It’s that kind of hotel.) The definition of “just a bed” – there’s no charm or anything special at all about The Star.

Great location, close by to both Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush. Easy access, friendly staff, and just ideal for our short visit to London. Room had everything we needed, was comfortable, and no noise from traffic despite being on a busy road. Great location. Clean room. Safe and walkable area, close to a grocery store, dining options around the neighborhood, transportation access to tube or bus. My plane departure from (LHR- Heathrow) and by tube you get directly to the airport saving time and money. Wonderful

We travelled to London for a concert at the Eventim Apollo and this hotel was ideal for a one night stay. We wandered round Westfield shopping centre in the afternoon, then it's a 15 minute walk to the hotel. Once we were ready to go out it was just a 15 minute walk to the concert, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink on the way there. Hotel staff were friendly and the room was nice and clean. Would stay here again

A great hotel , basic but has everything you need . Very clean and well cared for . You can get breakfast across the road or at Steak bar . Staff were so helpful . You can come and go as you please . Great value for money . We will be back xxxx

I booked it as a Bed and Breakfast, not knowing that breakfast service is not available for all of 2023. Their website still calls it a bed and breakfast but then there is note at the bottom indicating breakfast service is not available. They need to change their website and ads and stop calling themselves a bed and breakfast. Third party booking site did not mention breakfast not available.

Good location between Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush, easy walk to both, including transport links and Westfield shopping centre. Staff were all friendly and pleasant. We had a very small double room right on the top floor, the last set of stairs are very steep and narrow, it was however very clean, perfectly functional with a small wardrobe, dressing table, chair and tv. The bathroom is tiny, but again clean and everything in good working order, nice hot powerful shower. Its a shame that there was no breakfast option available. There are however some nice places locally that do a lovely breakfast.

The property was very clean and the staff was friendly. The room was comfortable and even though my room was right next to the street, the windows keep out almost all the noise. The TV is very small and old and there was no shelf in the shower to put soap and shampoo. Those are my only real complaints. It was worth the money, but there isn’t anything extra. Also, they should really take the B&B signs down if they don’t do breakfast anymore.

We were attending a concert at EVENTIM APOLLO in Hammersmith and stayed for 1 night only . It was close by , about 15 minute walk in one direction and the Westfield shopping centre in the other direction . Plenty of places to eat nearby .The staff were very pleasant and accommodating to our needs . They were not offering beakfast due to works being done in the kitchen .
