The County Hotel - Self Check-In, Ultra Fast WI-FI, Free Parking, Central Location

Convenient location bang in the middle of Selkirk. Hotel has a nice bar and restaurant with attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast very good but, at £35 a head, very expensive.

Arrived at 10PM to find room had not been cleaned. Beds slept in, bins full, dirty cups and glasses and a pile of wet towels on the bathroom floor. Helpline disinterested and dismissive, insisting that the room had been cleaned. (WHAT?!) Insane stuff, had to abandon room and head to Edinburgh to find alternative accomodation.

Clean room, great amount of tea/coffee /milk in the room, good service at the bar/breakfast space, got what I paid for so very happy with my stay. Great parking at the hotel.

I went down for breakfast at 7.30....a bit later than I usually would, but everything was closed. I tried calling the number on the front desk but didn't get an answer. The room is decent but the bed was very hard.

Ideal location for visiting family and have stayed before in the past. I guess the hotel has had a change of ownership as before I was met at reception for checking in but this is no longer the case as the check in details are sent via WhatsApp but unfortunately they didn't send them until after I tracked down some staff in the restaurant to check in. Room was comfortable and slept well but the shower had mouldy silicone and the water pressure wasn't the best. Breakfast was a chore, no info on cereals and juice's. Not blaming any individual but I booked and paid for breakfast but somewhere this was not noted and was told it was chargeable and had to handover my mobile for proof whilst photo's where being taken and had to prove this on the both mornings which I found to be a little poor.
