Best Western Executive Hotel New Haven-West Haven

I got here at 10pm at night with my son and there was literally nowhere to park. The young girl associate came out and showed me an area where I could park which was directly behind an 18 wheeler, and next to some dope fiends. Uh, no. I put my flashers on in their pull thru lane, demanded my $$ back so I could find a place with an actual parking lot, and the lady at the front desk moved her own personal vehicle so I could park in her spot for the night and catch a few hours shut eye before my road trip back south. This is the cheapest rate along 95 in CT, but be aware if you book here and plan on getting here past say 5pm?? Good luck. My son also thought the room was dirty. He's 9. He takes after his mother. I'm more care free with that sorta thing lol

I only booked this hotel for the pool. I filtered my search to only hotels with pools. I got here and the pool is closed until Tuesday. I am very displeased with the “oh. Sorry” response I got from the front desk. This should not have been listed as a hotel with a pool. Very angry and disappointed

The pool was horrendous. It was so cold, my husband couldn't enjoy it.

The elevators need to be replaced, when we first arrived we were assigned a room on the 7th floor. We got in and pushed the button, the elevator doors closed and nothing happened for around 3-4 mins. Then it went to the 2nd floor and opened, closed again, and went back down to the 1st. Again, we tried, the doors stayed closed for 3-4 mins, went up to the 2nd floor, then back down to the first. Someone who worked in the hotel got in, swiped his badge and said the elevator is very slow. Again, doors closed, stopped at 2nd floor, but this time it went up to the 3rd. It took about 20 mins just to get to the 7th floor. The next morning we got in, pushed the lobby button and the elevator raced so fast down to the first floor I actually panicked because I thought it had broke and we were crashing. It was terrifying seeing the numbers change so quickly and it felt like I was in a rollercoaster. Aside from that terrifying experience the sink in our room was loose and the room was a bit dated. Clean but dated. Would not stay here again.

Only issue was the elevators. One wasn’t working and the other would just stop at floor five for a bit before starting again. Hopefully, this will be fixed soon.

The only problem at this hotel was the wait for the elevator. . Only one elevator was working and it also had issues. I waited sometimes over 5 minutes for the elevator to make up its mind to come up or down to the floor I was on.

Right off the freeway so that is convenient. The water in the pool was pretty cold. Breakfast was good. Room was OK. A little noisy with the freeway right there. Staff seemed disengaged. Elevators are barely working long waits

First of all only one elevator worked, but it did not work properly. It was definitely malfunctioning! We had to take the stairs from the 5th floor several times. Then there was a strong gas smell on the 5th floor. Several of us smelled it and reported it to the front desk. They evacuated the hotel and we had to wait 2 hours until the emergency crew checked it out and gave the all clear so we could return to our rooms. The next morning, the Hotel personnel decided to paint the trim on the outside of the elevator door at the busiest time when everyone was going to breakfast. I held the elevator door open for some other guests and unknowingly was leaning against the wet painted trim. The lady that painted the trim pointed to the wet paint sign that was not visible to me or the other guests that were coming out of the elevator. The front of my shirt was covered in wet white paint. I frantically poured my water bottle on my shirt and scrubbed the paint off. Shockingly it came off but I was soaked and we were getting ready to check out. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I have ever experienced. Management needs to address these issues.

Very clean (yet slightly dated) rooms. Very good breakfast indeed (yet fruit was run out that morning). Pool was closed during our visit. And gym is very very poor including just one yoga mat that was just… disgusting. Check in clerk was wonderfully professional, morning staff really not able to receive. feedback. Good for the money!

The elevator did not work. We got stuck in it a few times very dirty. Complain to the front desk, but they did absolutely nothing about it. Hotel second-floor smelled like marijuana.

The property is conveniently located very close to the highway exit. With that convenience, comes the noise of the highway! Not good foe a light sleeper! Also the room that wws booked for had a strong gaseous odor and for some reason a big wet spot in the carpet. The grounds were messy and the lobby was and elevators were not the cleanest!

The room smelled like someone smoked ten packs of cigarettes in it. Hair was still in the sink and tub.

I had a disappointing experience at this Hotel. The room was both smelly and dirty. The linens and towels were both very old and very used and the staff was very dismissive and unhelpful when we attempted to change rooms. Despite attempts to refresh the space the unpleasant odor in the carpets persisted and cleanliness was subpar. I would not be staying here again and would not recommend this hotel

Entire floor smelled like pot...parking lot with alot of people hanging around cars drinking...not a safe vibe. Noone professional looking or friendly at front desk

Could not sleep all night with constant noise from the highway 100 yards away.

The tv in our room didn’t work. After 30 minutes they finally brought in a tv and remote from another room. The shower in the am was only warm not hot. The breakfast was nice

Seems only one of the elevators was working and at times moved very slow, felt stuck at one point, the Internet on the 6th floor was weak, I made a call to customer service and they said it was acting up and would be back strong soon, it never did, I rented the room for 5 days. Other than those 2 issues everything was good.

Great stay for a quick overnight. We were highway side so could hear traffic all night.

My stay was an overnight stay. The staff was nice and accommodating. The room was spacious and it was very quiet.

The only problem was the TV...

No plug ins for phones. One electrical outlet by the bed but it was worn out and the plug would just fall out when you tried to plug into it

Very old, dated property.

It was extremely noisy being right next to the highway. But for the price I paid it wasn't awful. Breakfast was a typical highway hotel breakfast. Will not likely stay here again.

Our check-in time was 2pm which was perfect bc we had an event that evening & our Uber was picking us up at 4:30. That gave all 5 of us plenty of time to get settled in & ready to leave. We got there a little early, just after 1pm, & asked if we could get an early check in. Our room wasn't ready yet, which was fine, we told them that we'd run out & get dinner & be back. We got back at about 2:45pm & our room STILL WASN'T READY! We had to stand around in the lobby w all of our luggage for another 35 minutes until they were done cleaning our room! I explained our situation to the people at the front desk & apparently they didn't care. I also explained that we would need to use the pull out sofa, there were 5 of us, we would need sheets, blankets, etc for it. We would also need enough washcloths, towels, shampoo, conditioner, for all 5 of us. We finally got up to our room as the housekeeper finished cleaning it & had to explain to her again that we needed towels, etc for 5 people & the stuff to make up the bed on the pull out. The staff at the desk had spoken w her by phone but didn't relay that message to her. Then I went into the bathroom & there was 1 tiny bottle of shampoo, and 1 conditioner! My husband had to hunt the housekeeper down to get more of that stuff! I called the corp office to tell them about it & when they said they were putting me on hold, I got hung up on. The room was nice & clean & the breakfast was good. Our last stay at a Best Western though.

Day of check out I called to request a late check out for 12 pm which is giving . The lady at front desk was rude told me 11:30 am or my personal will be removed from the room and hung up . Those island ladies are rude and just anger. I keep my self together and smile when leaving she was just mad.

Stayed one night with my son as we traveled to Connecticut to see Monster Jam. The lobby is clean and welcoming as soon as we entered. Check in was super fast and efficent. Parking was easy and the lot was well lit and felt safe. The room was clean, spacious and the beds were really comfortable. Breakfast was a good selection of food and staff kept the area clean and full. Overall a great hotel for a quick night away. I would definitely stay again.

Our room keys stopped working every time we left the room. Maybe invest in new room keys. Everyone was very kind and helpful otherwise. The ladies behind the desk were all very sweet and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

I was in contact with the Hotel Manager while i was staying in the hotel regarding the refund that after a discussion with the manager was promised by here that it will be returned to me. But since the conversation i can not reach the manager nor she is replying on the email that i have sent or returns my calls after i leave messages to the reception with request to be contacted by the manager.

Entrance by the elevator smell bad, first room smelled bad, I got another room, and they also gave the key to someone else so they were able to open the door when I was coming out the bathroom, the phone in the room wasn’t working, I had to call the reception from my own phone to let them know, I was scared the whole night that someone else might open the door again

The people who checked us in asked for my credit card instead of my driver's license. Hotels already had taken care of that issue so a form of ID should have been suitable. They were very arrogant when I questioned about them asking for a copy of my credit card front and back. Very valuable information for a couple of shady looking characters. It was dark when we entered our room and had to walk around in the dark to find a light. The light switch at the door entering the room didn't switch anything after examining the room. Very unsafe. Then when I went to plug in my phone charger I found the electric plug in was pushed up into the wall and I couldn't get it to stay plugged in and the other side of the bed was the same way. That's a electrical issue in a public place that should be inspected by a qualified electrician for violations and should be shut down immediately.

Great place, great breakfast stayed in 507 facing I95 so... a bit noisy :) but rest of the place is great. Many food options and shopping close by, bit of a small parking. Enjoyed our stay would return to that place when returning to that area.

Conveniently located right off the highway, 7-11 with a couple food stores right next door. Just make sure you lock your doors is all.

RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM WALMART WAS TO CONVEIENT AND HIGHWAY RIGHT THERE AN GAS STATION,PERFECT SPOT FOR HOTEL. BUT WITH EVERYONE FINDING THIS HOTEL PARKING AT NIGHT CAN GET HARD TO FIND A SPACE. I HAD A CLEAN ROOM AND CHECK IN WAS SMOOTH AND EASY.

Don’t stay here if you are planning to go to Yale campus. It’s not in New Haven. It’s in West Haven. 20 minutes away. We had a number of issues including hairdryer didn’t work, broken draperies in the living room, we had to call up for sheets and blankets for the pullout couch. The hotel elevators were hardly working. One was broken. One was incredibly slow. Breakfast ended at 9:30 and we missed the first day.

Easy to get to. Pleasantly quiet even though you are right next to the highway. Continental breakfast was very good. Friendly staff. Stayed only for 1 night

This was a very nice hotel. Nice people and lobby. It seems like one of the elevators was not working during our stay, I never saw it open during the long waits for the other one. The parking was also limited, sometimes you had to go all the way around the dark back of the building to park. The neighborhood looked ok, a couple sketchy areas, not really a good walking location. Walmart across the street, gas station next door so that was handy. All in all a very nice spot, Rooms were spacious and clean.

Nice, spacious room with comfortable beds and clean, soft sheets and bath towels. The water pressure was acceptable, but the water temperature maxed out at “warm.” So showering was a bit unpleasant. The breakfast was outstanding and the service wonderful.

Continental breakfast was very good. Everything was fresh and hot to serve. Room was very clean. Area is convenient for stores and highways

After a 6 hours ride we were lucky to get an early check in. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was always fully stocked and delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very clean room, great breakfast and courteous staff. Only drawback is the noise since the hotel is by the freeway. Noise proof windows might help the situation.

Room was average. Elevator and hallways could have been cleaner. Breakfast was horrible. Nothing left when I went down and the ‘meat’ option was a mushy mess. Gym had equipment that did not work and no dumbbells either. Disappointing when you specifically pick hotels with gyms and breakfast.

It was a great value for the price - however the property is showing its age. Shower rods sag, drain doesn’t quite work - breakfast filling but the eggs are tasteless and rubbery.
