I recently spent a few nights at this historic, government‑run hotel, which has been welcoming guests for about 70 years. The building’s age is evident everywhere – a generally run‑down appearance that suggests the property isn’t receiving the upkeep it deserves. Nonetheless, the rooms themselves were clean and functional, and the staff were warm and courteous throughout my stay. A recurring concern was the pressure to tip (housekeeping, doorman etc). It can make guests feel “forced” rather than freely choosing to tip. A gentle reminder to the team that tipping should remain entirely optional would improve the atmosphere, especially for travelers unfamiliar with local customs, and who do not carry cash in this digital age. There were a few practical hiccups that affected my experience. While I was unable to work in my room due to ongoing renovation work, the staff declined my request to use the business centre free of charge—even though it was empty and quiet. Small gestures like allowing access to such facilities can make a big difference for guests who need to stay productive. Additionally, the breakfast offering was below expectations, falling short of typical hotel standards.

Though cleanliness had room for improvement, overall a great property , helpful front desk, good brrakfast and staff overall was fine. But their behavior is more attuned to cater to bureaucrats and govt office hence don't have professionalism and courteousness of a prv property like marriott or bloomrooms.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The room was in extremely poor condition and had a strong unpleasant smell. We had booked an “Executive Room,” but it was surprisingly tiny and absolutely not worth the amount we paid. The bed was very uncomfortable, making it difficult to rest. To make matters worse, there was a party going on nearby that continued until 2 a.m., and the noise levels were unbearable. We were unable to sleep properly the entire night. The breakfast was equally disappointing. I chose the South Indian option, and the sambar was overly sour and tasted bad. Even the tea was of very poor quality. Lastly, when we requested a bottle of water to carry with us, we were told it was chargeable and asked to pay ₹177 for a bottle that normally costs around ₹60 outside. This felt unreasonable and unfair. Overall, the stay was not worth the money, and I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Right from a very officious check in experiences filled with misleading information and judging looks towards me and my husband for perhaps not being married. Over the 5 days we were here the sheets and towels were never changed. Getting toilet paper became a negotiation. The staff on the phone were extremely rude. The free breakfast included a raw egg mixed in with cooked eggs. Just genuinely a horrible experience end to end. Avoid at all costs. If the location and the stately building were not a plus there are places at a 10th of the cost in pahadgunj that have better trained staff, better housekeeping, and cleaner rooms.
