Nice stay at a Swiss chalet with rustic charm. Stayed in a clean, attic room with a scenic balcony. Electrical outlets are few and on the older side, weak hair dryer and small shower space, and single, soft bed, but it was comfortable and homey. The fan was very helpful in dispersing the summer heat. The water kettle was a nice amenity, but the breakfast spread was the best part of the stay, everything was freshly made, plentiful and delicious. Just beware of the stairs if you have a lot of luggage. Location is a 10 min walk from Wilderswil train station, or 2 stops on 105/111 bus. Neighborhood is very quiet and safe.

Enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was great! You are not happy to find out that they charged for parking in their own parking lot because we did not book directly with them. They said there is an 18 Swiss franc charge for parking when booked through Hotels.com or other online booking services

This is a traditional Swiss style hotel in a village just outside of Interlaken. The location is stunning, with mountains visible from the neighbourhood, and there are good transport links to Interlaken with a regular bus service and frequent trains. You get a travel card when checking in, so we used this transport to get around. There is plenty of parking at the hotel, it cost 10 CHF a day. Our rooms were comfortable, albeit a little dated. There is no lift so we lugged our suitcase up 3 sets of stairs to the room. There is a kettle, but coffee/milk is extra. However the accommodation was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly too. We went for the half board option, and the evening meal was really good with a tasty selection of local dishes, plus a children’s menu. Breakfast was continental, although we found that by 9AM the food choice had become a bit more limited.

The Baren exceeded all my expectations. It was cozy, clean, and the staff were so accommodating. I cannot recommend this place enough. We also enjoyed using the sauna facilities and the breakfast was great. We came a little late one day and the server made us more eggs and bacon fresh. Beautiful area as well close to a bus stop.

There are many stairs to climb as the description notes. Maybe a few more stairs than you might think. This was an older property with charming appeal. Though was fairly quiet even with older floors and a group of teens. The staff were friendly and helpful. Water pressure in the shower was perfect. Breakfast offered a variety of choices.

Cute area with the best views. It was easy to catch the bus downtown. Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. Hotel is older but very clean. Bathroom had funky smell.

Loved our stay here, such a charming hotel in a beautiful location. Parking on-site & convenient spot to get everywhere. Room was spacious, clean & warm, pack earplugs though as not super soundproofed. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast & restaurant foods were delicious.

Clean room, good breakfast. The hotel is over 300 years old, that comes with pluses and minuses. For us, it made for a unique and authentic experience that was worth the outdated fixtures. Our room also had an unbeatable view.

Hmmm what to say lol. We chose Hotel Baren because it was an “affordable” hotel close to Interlaken. If you need the bus it takes about 15 minutes to get to Interlaken. Bonus the bus was free and the stop is close by. The building is very old so the bathroom is a retrofit, small and adequate. The sink was in the room. No elevator. No coffee or tea or kettle but breakfast was included so that was nice. The room was cold in early October. An extra blanket for the bed helped. All in all it was okay.

Stayed for 3 nights while visiting the Jungfrau region. The hotel is rustic but super cute! Parking is on site. The staff were very helpful and patient. The included breakfast was lovely and the coffee was great! We opted to purchase the 1/2 board (dinner) and we were very impressed! It was a 3 course meal with several choices (including vegetarian and local dishes) at a very reasonable price. The only negative is the walls are very thin and the people in the rooms next to us were loud. We will definitely be back!

Parking is available for off-season, however I can only assume parking is a nightmare during high season. Beds are European twins, so small, don't expect larger. The room are heated, almost too well but you can really enjoy the fresh air by opening windows and balcony. The view is worth every cent.

We spend two nights at the Bear Inn, we got a top floor room which was exceptional because we had a beautiful view of the mountains, the room is spacious but the bathroom is small, this is a vintage building so floors are wood and if you walk you hear the wood cracking, the 105 bus leaves you right next to the hotel or otherwise you can walk 10 minutes to the train station. Breakfast is ok

Great location. Breakfast was ok. The room was nice but a bit dated, needs new carpets and our toilet leaked. Shower wasnt tall enough for a tall person to stand up straight in it.

4 of us stayed only one night. All 4 are adults. Possibly the hotel assumed that it was 2 adults and 2 children staying. The two sharing the “pull out” bed, I being one of them, didn’t sleep more than 2 hours due to the rock hard bed. Please don’t assume a room for 4 people is not 4 adults.

This hotel has charm. I knew that it was not modern and has no elevators. I wanted to stay somewhere that did not look like very hotel. If you like certain accommodations this place may not be for you. I loved its old charm and country feel. The breakfast was great. A buffet with a variety of foods. The room was rustic and the bathroom worked very well even if it was not remodeled. The waterflow for the shower was strong. There is no A/C. We just opened the window if needed. We traveled early September so it wasn't very hot. There is no front desk after 9pm. If you need some kind of service after hours you would have to wait until the morning. We enjoyed this hotel. It had that traditional Switzerland charm.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. We had a room with balcony on the 3rd floor but because the hotel is 300 yr old there was no elevator. We did get help from a staff member to take the bags up and down. Stayed 2 nights and ate at their restaurant, both breakfast and dinner were good. Very small village, train station was close by.

Room was cozy and had great views. Quiet town away from tourists. Breakfast buffet included. Nice restaurant for lunch and dinner. The only downside was the lack of friendliness among staff, especially the evening waitress who was snippy from the start. This is a traditional Swiss style hotel in a village just outside of Interlaken. The location is stunning, with mountains visible from the neighbourhood, and there are good transport links to Interlaken with a regular bus service and frequent trains. You get a travel card when checking in, so we used this transport to get around. There is plenty of parking at the hotel, it cost 10 CHF a day. Our rooms were comfortable, albeit a little dated. There is no lift so we lugged our suitcase up 3 sets of stairs to the room. There is a kettle, but coffee/milk is extra. However the accommodation was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly too. We went for the half board option, and the evening meal was really good with a tasty selection of local dishes, plus a children’s menu. Breakfast was continental, although we found that by 9AM the food choice had become a bit more limited.

The Baren exceeded all my expectations. It was cozy, clean, and the staff were so accommodating. I cannot recommend this place enough. We also enjoyed using the sauna facilities and the breakfast was great. We came a little late one day and the server made us more eggs and bacon fresh. Beautiful area as well close to a bus stop.

Nice stay at a Swiss chalet with rustic charm. Stayed in a clean, attic room with a scenic balcony. Electrical outlets are few and on the older side, weak hair dryer and small shower space, and single, soft bed, but it was comfortable and homey. The fan was very helpful in dispersing the summer heat. The water kettle was a nice amenity, but the breakfast spread was the best part of the stay, everything was freshly made, plentiful and delicious. Just beware of the stairs if you have a lot of luggage. Location is a 10 min walk from Wilderswil train station, or 2 stops on 105/111 bus. Neighborhood is very quiet and safe.

Utrolig venligt personale som straks tilbød parkering i lukket garage, da det regnede kraftigt og vi var kørende i en gammel veteran bil. Morgenmaden var god. Der var masser af hyggelige steder at sidde omkring hotellet og alle med den mest fantastiske udsigt. Generelt en perfekt beliggenhed.

Stayed for 3 nights while visiting the Jungfrau region. The hotel is rustic but super cute! Parking is on site. The staff were very helpful and patient. The included breakfast was lovely and the coffee was great! We opted to purchase the 1/2 board (dinner) and we were very impressed! It was a 3 course meal with several choices (including vegetarian and local dishes) at a very reasonable price. The only negative is the walls are very thin and the people in the rooms next to us were loud. We will definitely be back!

We had a good size room with a bathtub. We were upgraded to a balcony with a excellent view of the mountain. Restaurant options in the area are sparse. The dinner dining at the hotel is good, but expensive. The breakfasts are excellent.

Hôtel avec un super standing même ci il est resté pour notre chambre trop dans son jus ... Le personnel est au top et très disponible même ci ce soir là il y avait un grand groupe et du coup de l'attente a certais moment... Je pourrais avec plaisir y retourner... Repas bon sauf le poisson(truite vraiment trop cuite) Il faudrait comme la viande demander la cuisson d'un poisson🙂

Enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was great! You are not happy to find out that they charged for parking in their own parking lot because we did not book directly with them. They said there is an 18 Swiss franc charge for parking when booked through Hotels.com or other online booking services

Lugn och trevlig hotell som ligger ganska bra om man har egen bil. Frukost saknar all typ av färska grönsaker tyvärr. Mkt trevliga personal men de saknar allmän info om vad som finns i närheten. Beställde medium stekt kött men fick den well done. Valde att checka ut tidigare än planerat.

Our second stay there (prior May 2024) but warm (July) and no a/c or stairs so need to take that into consideration. Room was small and overlooked noisy parking lot- even noisy after 11 PM with windows open due to no a/c. Would not stay there again unless during shoulder/cooler season when windows are closed. Quaint 320-year old chalet hotel, so that was appealing.

Wilderswil is an adorable town in close proximity to Interlaken, which makes the hotel an ideal base for exploring. The hotel itself is beautiful. It retains much of its coaching inn heritage. Breakfast is delicious, with a wide variety of offerings. One thing to note: because it is a heritage property close to the mountains, it retains heat. In the recent heatwave, this made our east-facing room rather hot, even with the fan, so we spent our evenings walking around town to cool off.
