Courtyard by Marriott Lansing

The hotel was nice and clean but the pool was closed and nobody informed us prior arrival.

Hotel is under renovation and outdated. We were put in an 'updated' room which was still run down and outdated including the tub which seemed hazardous and slippery. The ice machines were out of order as well. We feel that it should have been stated that the hotel was under construction and not quite ready to be in service. Even as we drove in the landscaping was overgrown and unkept. Should be charging less for these accommodations.

Construction in the parking lot. Bed was uncomfortable. Shower was very small. Customer service was good.

We really loved the layout and size of the room. Also, had a small balcony, but that wasn't in the greatest condition and the weather really didn't allow for it to be used. They are currently renovating, so it was messy in areas. I specifically selected this hotel for price, location, and that it had a pool. The pool was under maintenance, so we weren't able to use it. I didn't know this until check-in which was very disappointing. They did offer for us to use a pool at another hotel down the road. Nice offer, but really not feasible or practical. I would consider staying here again if the price is right.

We stayed to enjoy the pool area. Upon checkn in, we were told that the pool heater was broken and that the hot tub had been removed. We ended up going to a different hotel.

The price was good for the location to shopping, restaurants, and MSU. There was also a bistro type place on site that served breakfast, lunch, sold Starbucks, and basics alcoholic beverages. Staff were very nice and friendly.

The lobby, our room and most of the hotel look renovated and are very clean. The room was large, easy to regulate the temperature, very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. Hotel is located close to expressway and convenient to everywhere we wanted to go. All the staff that we interacted with were cordial, friendly and very helpful.The only downside was the indoor pool that had been closed for over 2 months. The website should include this information. Fortunately the pool wasn't our top priority. We're happy to have stayed here for a week and a half and really enjoyed this hotel. We would certainly stay here again.

Pool closed, doors didn’t work, no breakfast, ice machine didn’t work.

I booked this hotel due to the pool as I brought my 5 y/o. When i got to the hotel i asked about pool hours and was told the pool was "actually closed at the moment". I canceled my booking, but she had already swiped my card. When i told her that they needed to put the info about the closed pool online she proceeded to answer the phone and ignore me.

Best place I’ve stayed in awhile. The room was very clean and comfortable. The courtyard was beautiful. The staff was very friendly.

I found dirty clothing in the room under the bed. TV remote was missing.

I've stayed at MANY Marriotts and this was THE WORST! It was dirty AND smelled like smoke! Room was dirty an the blinds had mildew on them. The pool was broke (and green). The elevator was broke. (I felt bad for the lady in the wheel chair checking in). There wasn't anyone at the front desk. When we asked to get more towels they gave us green ripped rag towels and said they didn't have anyone to do work the washing machine. I would never ever stay there or recommend this hotel to anyone.

Horrible place with idiot employees or none, no room clean in 4 days, AC heat a joke. Ants in bathroom. Bed about 4” off floor. Never changed towels, sheets, emptied wastebaskets. Breakfast a laugh. One gal charged me $2 for a banana that another worker said was free. Room valued about half the cost. Shocking. “UNDER REDEVELOPMENT” still doesn’t describe the chaos. Ugh

Run away from this Courtyard by Marriott! Went to use the bathroom and there was dried urine and pubic hair on the seat itself!

The shower was not clean and I would appreciate a credit. It was gross with mold. I took pics

Airconditioner thermostat wasn't working. I had to keep turning the temperature down because the A/C wouldn't stay on.

Nice hotel. Blackout curtains would be even nicer.

Was here while my wife recovered from extreme back surgery. Bed was very comfortable.

Booked an executive suite for my family of 4. The pullout couch was a twin, meaning the room only slept 3. There were no sheets nor pillows for the pullout, either. Eve at the front desk was very kind, but was only able to provide a mattress pad as a sheet, plus a blanket and pillow. My husband ended up sleeping on the floor, I slept in the pullout, and our kids shared the bed. Very disappointing, as well as lack of continental breakfast.

Checking in, help was fast and courteous. I was directed to park by the next door for the elevator. Great, thanks. Problem is, there’s only one elevator, and my room was nowhere near it. When having to leave the next day, I attempted to find a closer door for parking, but that was not as easy as it sounds, either. Several exterior doors had notes taped on them that claimed you can exit, but there was no re-entry through said door. So then I attempted to find parking closer to my room AND a door I could get into. This should not be an issue. Second, I get into the room easily, but trying to find light switches was not easy. In some cases, there weren’t switches. Great when walking into a dark, unfamiliar room and the lamps are on the other side. Even after turning on all lights in the suite, I felt like I was suffocating because I couldn’t see well. The lighting is inadequate, at best. I was not able to get a lot of work done. It was late, and I chose this hotel because of the reported restaurant with decent hours and a bar. I went looking for said restaurant, and instead found a bistro bar…that was completely closed at 8:00 PM. It was dark and there was simply a sign on the counter that said it was closed. So even with a “restaurant”, I still had to head out to get a bite to eat. I tried to get some breakfast one morning of my stay. I see a couple folks sitting in the area, but it looked dark and no one behind the counter. Sorry. Over this place. Not worth it.

Would have been nice to have microwave in room. Also fridge would freeze our water bottles. No way to adjust found. Overall good stay.

Convenient to the locations we planned to visit. A little highway noise but not too bad. It was mostly covered by the AC fans running in the suite. Perfect white noise! 😊 It’s all in the perspective. The room was definitely clean and neat. Bathroom as well. Bring your own tea bag though as only in-room coffee is provided and enjoy your stay! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The issue with the property is that they told us at 10pm after waiting hours that they didn't have a room for us. We drove in from 6 hours away for our daughter's graduation, arrived at 10pm and walked into chaos. The computers were down, they couldn't make room keys, there was one young person at the desk who had to go to every room with a physical master key to let people in, they had no record of who or what rooms were occupied and after making us stand there for an hour he just stepped back and said "We don't have rooms for any of you, I'm sorry" I felt awful for this poor kid - his manager left him, no-one was available to help him, and there was literally nothing he could do. But I have not heard one word from the hotel, or Marriott about his after calling twice, making sure we are not charged/refunded. That left us searching half the night to try to find somewhere to stay, (myself, wife, and son). THey offered no options, didn't call other properties, they jsut said "sorry, you are on your own". Then....when I tried to call Marriott they told me this location is an independent franchise and there is nothing they can do!!!!! WHat the heck is the point of putting the Marriott name on the property if they can't even respond to "sorry you drove here 6 hours and its late at night but you are out of luck..." Again, the guy at the desk was doing what he could, but the hotel left him in a terrible position and there has been no follow-up.

When we went to check in they did not have the room available that I reserved, needless to say they put us in a smaller room that could only accommodate 3 people and we are a family of 4. It was awful and they still changed me the same price. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The manager on duty basically told me there was nothing he could do for me and one of my kids had to sleep on the floor. Completely unacceptable!! We drove 3 hrs for that!!! We are on a college visit for my twin boys and if my kids decide to go to school in this area, I will never stay at this hotel. They should have discounted my room or put my kids up in another room to accommodate.

The Courtyard came to our rescue at midnight when the reservation at our original hotel couldn’t be honored because their housekeeping staff had forgotten to clean our room (they had six empty rooms, but they hadn’t been cleaned which prevented our being able to check-in). The Courtyard was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring we were able to get settled quickly and catch a few winks. Kudos to their night staff.. great people.

Waited about 10 minutes to check in while I saw front desk staff taking a “smoke break” outside. Staff smelled heavily of cigarettes but was polite. One parking lot light was also flickering and not stable. Relatively clean facility and pleasant stay.

The hotel is under construction. I get it happens but i didnt know this untill we checked in. I booked and paid though hotels .com but yet i have now been charged $130 and $87.07 and $20 for incidentals. The front desk person has verified they charged my card instead of the hotel.com account but manager is the only person that can figure it out and they are never there.

The front desk crew was fantastic and my room was beautiful.

They gave great service!

The room had a terrible smell. After checking in I had to park behind the building. I wasn't able to check in until late, and as a female I didn't feel safe. It was just an overnight stay so I just dealt with it.

My granddaughter and I travel from northern Michigan to East Lansing for an annual school shopping trip each August. The place we typically stay is a bit of a drive from downtown so I looked for something a bit closer this year. What a mistake! We booked at Courtyard by Marriott due to their reputation. We chose this particular property due to its location. What a huge disappointment to find the overall area around the hotel very unkempt and sketchy. The rooms were clean and fresh looking. But one thing we look forward to after a long day of travel and shopping is relaxing and playing in the pool. We were informed at check in the pool was under renovation, the water was green! We were then told we could use the pool at a sister property down the road. Not convenient but we went to check it out only to find that pool out of order as well. I had a very disappointed granddaughter! Additionally, there is no breakfast service and the Starbucks in the hotel lobby was not operating. There was no notice prior to traveling these services were not available. I wouldn’t say don’t stay here but know that you may not get what you’re expecting!

The hotel is understaffed so the restaurant was close. No food to get. I wanted a coffee in the morning but couldn’t get one, to add insult to injury the coffee machine in my room was missing the try to out the coffee in….. there’s also renovations going on and there’s a very distinct smell in the building. Personally I wouldn’t book here until they get it all sorted

The room itself was ok, the pool had been down for a number of days and was not informed until after booking (non-refundable). There was a 25 dollar upcharge for breakfast for 2 people. Overall would not stay here again. However the noon checkout was a plus

No welcome for gold elite Bonvoy member. Only one key for the room given. Bathroom curtain installed the opposite way making hard to shower. Great service from the guy in the bistro.

Dark parking lot with a sign "not responsible for theft" . My room was great. In the morning the person that opened the breakfast area and supplied the starbucks coffee never came to work so nobody else took care of it, rather annoying.
