Room was not ready when I checked in but the woman at the front counter was very apologetic about that. I understood and was told my room would be ready in an hour. That wasn't a big deal. Room was fairly clean. I had my two dogs with me and they found a couple of things probably underneath the bed but they aredogs and they snoop! The bed was comfortable The room was spacious. The area I felt safe in. Parking lot was well lit. Check out was easy.

We booked the room based on the pictures posted . The room was nothing like the pictures nor was the surrounding areas. Upon arrival it was obvious people were living here . There are numerous grills chained to the light poles surrounding the property . Parking lot had trash in it and many people were out smoking pot. We still proceeded to check in because we were visiting our son at college and it was parents weekend so we weren’t able to find another hotel under $500 a night . The check-in staff was nice and gave us our check in key . The minute we opened the door it reeked of weed . It was obvious someone had been smoking in that room and had smoked a lot . We returned to the front desk and asked for another room or a refund . Because we booked through Expedia they said we wouldn’t be able to get a refund right away and that we would have to submit a request and hope that they accept it. We decided to try the other room because we didn’t want to possibly have to eat the $200 we had spent on the room . New room smelled better and was semi clean. Shower didn’t work like it should . Water barely trickled out. There were dogs above us and beside us that barked most of the night everytime they heard a door close or a person outside. The ONLY bright spot about our stay was after visiting our son on campus we came back and hung out at Horrocks Farmers Market. Would absolutely never recommend this hotel to anyone and will obviously never stay here again

Never again! The room was filthy and in need of repair (bathroom door didn't close, vanity light didn't work, bottom of entry door was broken, floors were dirty). While smoking is not allowed inside the rooms everyone smokes directly outside of them so it still stinks of smoke. The parking lot had more potholes than norther Michigan roads in January. Awful, awful, awful!

Due to the lack cleanliness I asked the manager Jessica for a refund after being transferred to three rooms.The first room assigned was 202. Upon opening the door, the floating dresser had fallen off the wall along with the lamp. I did not step further into the room or take picture.The second room - a stain was on the blanket, counter around the sink there was old soap stains and in the sink was soap scum and what looked like toothpaste stains. The tub and surrounding walls were dirty. The floors throughout had dirt, dust and a few tiny papers. The inside and outside of the refrigerator was dirty. The outside had a small layer of dust and crumbs on the side of the microwave. The inside of the refrigerator had old food crumbs and the pockets for soda cans were sticky and had food crumbs in the sticky areas. The ice box at the top had food and debris frozen in the ice. I failed to take pictures of this room. The third room 208 was worse. The tub was dirty and was littered with hair. Floors had liquid stains, dirt, paper hair, the sink didn't drain and was dirty. Blankets had stains. Jessica refused to issue a refund even after being contacted by Expedia and Red Roof Inn customer service. After driving 4hrs to Michigan, packing a dorm room and unloading it at a storage facility, we had to drive 4hrs back the same day because we had no where else to stay. Had to contact corporate to get a refund. I was not rude nor disrespectful. Bad and rude management. DO NOT STAY HERE.

One matress was of standard hotel size (deapth), the other matress was the equivilant of a pull-out couch matress. There were also a ton of fruit flies all over the two mirrors in the room. Very gross.

Came down for family day to visit our daughter…her first year in college at Michigan State. Room was filthy. The floors had stains on them, tub was not cleaned, and the bedding was dirty. We checked about 4ish and checked out by 6:30am because we wanted to get out as fast as we could. We even looked for rooms at other hotels but they were booked. Very disappointed and would like a refund.

I was put in a room with a 2 inch space between the front door and the floor, so I asked for another room and was Put into the room next door. The rooms has a connecting door which any rodent could get thru. Also the kids upstairs cried and ran around all night. The room have no carpet so u can hear everything. The guy next door watched porn all night. One last thing that bothered me was when I ask for a late checkout and the lady at the front desk told me the latest she could do would be 12 noon & that normal Check out was 11. My email said check out was 12. I ask the lady at the front desk when I was checking out what the normal time check out time was & she said it was 12. The red roof in was slightly cheaper than other hotel but not worth saving 20-30 dollars. I hope I never have to stay here again.

Two beds and one clearly gets more use than the other, it’s shot. No coffee maker or blow dryer. The light switches are annoying, in fact at the moment I haven’t figured out what turns the lights on over the lavatory. I’ve stayed here (and other RR) many times and always thought that just for a night’s rest they were fine, no more.

On Expedia it says checkout is at noon. They called us at 11:15 asking why we had not checked out yet. The room smelled of smoke and we had to buy air freshener to sleep there. Everything else was fine for the price.

Called me the day of check in to let me know my card declined. Because- I wasn't AT the property CHECKING IN! How is this legal? When I chose "Pay AT Property?" So, my card was charged before i even checked into my room. I asked for 1st floor and got 2nd...The room was small and there were a couple of issues with it- such as: the light in the bathroom was dim and the fan was loud. The chair at the desk was broken and ripped up and the freezer needed defrosting...I wish I could add pics to this review. One last thing is that theres no smoking in the rooms- which i love, however, there isnt anywhere to put cigarette butts so theyre all over sidewalks and ground and get tracked into the room

On April 8th, I called the hotel directly twice and was told they had no reservation. At that time I had no itinerary. How can I be charged for a reservation that does not exist? I was charged for the reservation despite being guaranteed I could pay at the hotel and/or cancel 24 hours ahead. The confirmation states this clearly as does the Red Roof website. I would like a refund..

Due to the lack cleanliness I asked the manager Jessica for a refund after being transferred to three rooms.The first room assigned was 202. Upon opening the door, the floating dresser had fallen off the wall along with the lamp. I did not step further into the room or take picture.The second room - a stain was on the blanket, counter around the sink there was old soap stains and in the sink was soap scum and what looked like toothpaste stains. The tub and surrounding walls were dirty. The floors throughout had dirt, dust and a few tiny papers. The inside and outside of the refrigerator was dirty. The outside had a small layer of dust and crumbs on the side of the microwave. The inside of the refrigerator had old food crumbs and the pockets for soda cans were sticky and had food crumbs in the sticky areas. The ice box at the top had food and debris frozen in the ice. I failed to take pictures of this room. The third room 208 was worse. The tub was dirty and was littered with hair. Floors had liquid stains, dirt, paper hair, the sink didn't drain and was dirty. Blankets had stains. Jessica refused to issue a refund even after being contacted by Expedia and Red Roof Inn customer service. After driving 4hrs to Michigan, packing a dorm room and unloading it at a storage facility, we had to drive 4hrs back the same day because we had no where else to stay. Had to contact corporate to get a refund. I was not rude nor disrespectful. Bad and rude management. DO NOT STAY HERE.

It was just fine for a few nights! Definitely needs some updating, but again, it was fine for the price! Bathroom door wouldn't close because of toilet placement. But overall, clean enough and it quiet! Close to lots of restaurants and even a few activities! The staff was very friendly and accommodating! Definitely will be back when I'm in town!

On Expedia it says checkout is at noon. They called us at 11:15 asking why we had not checked out yet. The room smelled of smoke and we had to buy air freshener to sleep there. Everything else was fine for the price.

Good Stay. Good Bed and easy access to the hotel made for an easy stay. Quiet area, which you would expect, its Lansing. Stopped off at a local laundromat the next morning before hitting the road. Made contact with some locals, met the laundry owners , had breakfast, enjoyed the lazy morning. A Big THANK YOU to the laundry owner for opening on-time on Sunday. Good impression of Lansing, MI.

Convenient stop for us on our way back to Texas from Canada. Stayed in an ADA room that sorely needs updating. Bathroom floor was not very clean. The rest of the room was clean. Bed was comfortable.

The room had filth all over the place. Dog fighting in the parking lot, police, obnoxiously loud music and hollering. I usually never put a bad review but this was seriously a bad hotel. I would not recommend this place for even the worst of enemies.

The shower had really good water pressure. Receptionist came up to show us proper way to get lights above sink to come on (yes, it shouldn't be that difficult but I had problem :() and also delivered a hair dryer to us. Lobby was very inviting and cozy. The facility could use some updating (chips in tub, few holes in bedspread, side chair has (2) huge areas in arms that are torn away). Dirt seems to have accumulated in corner behind the bathroom door. Nice flooring. For the price; not bad. Location very good. Shopping, restaurants nearby including sit down and fast food.

Room was not ready when I checked in but the woman at the front counter was very apologetic about that. I understood and was told my room would be ready in an hour. That wasn't a big deal. Room was fairly clean. I had my two dogs with me and they found a couple of things probably underneath the bed but they aredogs and they snoop! The bed was comfortable The room was spacious. The area I felt safe in. Parking lot was well lit. Check out was easy.

The photos do reflect the room and the room was perfectly fine. The front desk gal was awesome and helpful. However, I did not feel safe at all. Solo travelers be aware that the area is fine but as soon as you pull in, it is completely different. I almost went back to the front desk to ask for my money back and look for a different accommodation. I normally do not stay at Red Roof because of past experiences but I wanted to give this a try because the price was great. However, my safety is more important than the price.

There was feces stuck to the toilet bowl. Not cleaned with a brush apparently. Water drains slow in the tub, Tv Cable system is outdated, would not work with the guide feature on the remote. Had to go channel to channel. Remote missing back battery cover. Bed was old and springy, one side of the bed caved in . Lights wouldn't come on for a few minutes to get going in bathroom area. Desk chair stuck in the very lowest position. One pillow felt like plastic. You could crumple it and hear it crackle. The front desk lady was very polite and helpful. I did not see any breakfast. Overall, if they could fix those issues, I would be happy to stay again.

We were forced to book another hotel --through expedia--upon arriving and seeing a trailer full of cats, the desk staff smoking, doors with destroyed paint, pothole ridden parking lot. The place is awful and we would have felt unsafe and exposed to smoke and cat fur (one of our family members has severe allergies). I didn't even go in. I left a voicemail canceling our stay. Regrettably I didn't say why. I will be disputing the charges.
