Extended Stay America Suites - Pittsburgh - Monroeville

Only thing i liked was location. Never anyone at front desk. Overall very drab. Kitchen was empty and pot when requested the finish was all worn off.

My stay at Extended Stay America, falsely listed as a three-star hotel on Expedia, was a complete disaster. I’m appalled Expedia recommended this one-star mess. For both days of our stay, we had no room keys. We had to call the front desk every time, but with only one overworked staff member, we were stuck waiting outside our room—sometimes for ages. This was beyond frustrating. The room was a dump: sticky floors, broken shelves, flimsy comforters, and no warm sheets. Our assigned room wasn’t even ready, forcing us to consider leaving. The breakfast was a sham, and weed odors in the corridors made it unbearable. The hotel’s mismanagement was evident, with indifferent staff barely coping. Expedia, your three-star rating is a lie. This stay ruined our trip. Stop listing Extended Stay America and explain how you’ll fix this misleading endorsement.

There was no shower rod or shower curtain. Advertised as having full kitchen but no drain in sink dirty kitchen, had to get kitchen supplies from front desk.

Large pot holes at foot of driveway. Outlet in room was extremely loose. Room was dirty. Door didn’t close completely and could easily be opened

Dasia at front desk was beyond pleasant and helpful. the hotel had an odor, limited breakfast, elevator was out of order. The room was dirty, specifically kitchen cabinets, bathroom shower and curtain

Front desk was excellent. I was able to get everything I need from them and they were sweet about it. Only thing is the inability to have kitchen utensils available in the room. I was given the last package to borrow but the frying pan item were not available. We adapted but the kitchen was why we choose this property against the other 3. Overall it was warm, clean, and I felt safe ;)

The parking lot needs to be repaved. There are too many potholes and broken pieces of asphalt. Older people, like me, frequently have balance and motility issues, and this kind of paving is an invitation to injuries.

Elevator was broken

This was a last minute trip and the options for our stay were limited. Central location with plenty of food options in walking distance. The property is dated but in decent condition. The front door was broken and left open. The carpet in the room was dirty and left our feet dirty and sticky.

The property was dirty, the carpet, walls and shower curtain. They have NO ice available on site. They wash the linen inside the office. Management admitted that she has fired staff for popping sheets. Staff was rude. The property is very dated and smells awful.

We found room with soiled bed sheets, dirty toilet. We requested for a room change but got a room only with one bed. The 2nd room as well had dirty toilet Very poor hygiene overall

The floors were sticky upon arrival. Still sticky after room was mopped. Furniture was old and worn. The ironing board was broken, the stove was filthy, the room had a funny odor. Old sock was in the room so, that’s proof it was cleaned thoroughly, if at all. This was the nastiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in and wasn’t worth what I paid. I understand it’s an Extended Stay however, I’ve stayed in motels that are cleaner than this one. I’m coming back to the city for the Thanksgiving holiday and booked with another hotel down the road. Now, you’re asking for pictures after I’ve checked out. Who would know to take pictures. I know for the future but since I’m never staying there again, it’s kinda a moot point. I feel I should receive some type of credit for this horrible, horrible experience.

No cleanliness at all in the room. No tv. No hot water. Stinky smell in the room all night long. Smell on the beds. Carpet is too old and dirty. Hair found on the beds. Waste of money for the room.

Our room was not clean. We had two beds and one had lots of crumbs on top of the made bed. The bottom sheet had hairs on it and wasn’t clean. We found an unlocked storage room and got clean sheets and pillow cases as well as a clean blanket so we could sleep. The bathroom also looked like it needed a good cleaning.

Worst hotel. I wanted smoke free room but our room smelled so bad mix of smoke and wet carpet. I reached really late so didnt have option to leave right away. If i could i will give them zero for cleanliness. Bed sheets smelled, carpet had stains all over, furniutre you can see from images, hair dryer was so dirty it seemed like someone vomitted on it and no one ever cleaned it. Pictures are attached. Pay extra and stay somewhere else. Zero star. Dust over all over the furniture.

Cockroaches in the room. Small babies everywhere and a few bigger ones in the room. TV stand was broken and pointed to the floor. The kitchen sink was clogged. The bath soap was crumbled into pieces like a cracker. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. People smoking right outside lobby door in a NO SMOKING area. You had to go around them. There was even someone leaning right on the pillar that had the no smoking sign puffing on her cigarette. They had a good size refrigerator and microwave. There was a kitchenette with sink and stove.

This property is horrible inside the building, mouse feces BLACK MOLD, dirty.

Not at all clean.. smelling bad

My wife and I are currently at the hospital being de-contaminated and treated for multiple bed bug bites

It wasn't terrible but seemed like it could use some fixing up in the condition of doors, walls and flooring. I liked that my room had a full kitchen. I was not too thrilled with doors being slammed all night and into the morning.

It was a horrible stay, the hotel was like a 1920's retirement home that was converted to a hotel and not well maintained. The guest are loud and the room was overlooking the front door area and there was a loud truck with people chatting for hours after 11pm and they came back around 3 am for about 45 mins - horrible sleep. had a 1 week stay that cancelled after the first night and could not get all the unused nights reimbursed since it was done through hotels.com (3rd party)

the first room i was given was worn down, the tv was barely attached to its stand, the room hasn't been updated since the 70's and looked like it.

In my travels extended stays were better managed, due to people staying longer there was less overhead of cleaning rooms. Unless a property gets many undesired extended stay tenants. This property has smokers, its not controlled, there are cages on smoke detectors to keep people from disarming them. Pet policy seems nice, but I walked by a room that smelled like dirty dog. The rooms was a little worn out, bath sink did not drain, ac/heater was noisy, so we kept it off. Wifi did not work. I think this place is destined to be sold and redone, something is not up to standards here. Friendly staff, but there are problems.

The room needed help. The floor had a huge dip in it, the smoke detector was dangling off the curling, the fridge made horrible noises all night, couldn’t get hot water in the bathroom sink, the bathroom sink had cracks visibly so called repaired, the bathroom floor mat had dirt stains on it and there was only a drying cloth in the kitchen, no dishwashing soap or paper towels. Smokers (including staff) was directly in front of the door. I hope to never have to stay there again.

The room was dirty, the bathroom was very dirty. Vagrants were congregating outside our window. We heard music until 5 am. Desk staff was friendly.

It was ok. I just needed a couple nights to myself. The door to my room was not in the frame properly and was difficult to lock. There was a big space where you could see the light shining in from the hallway. I had a room right next to the lobby, so people in the hallway were a little annoying at times. Also, the people above me were really loud...I'm assuming it was children running and jumping around. No one came to clean my woom while i was there, either. I didn't make much mess, so i wasn't extremely bothered by it, but it seems housekeeping should have come. The carpet had some really bad stains, as did the chair at the desk in the room.

I was looking for a room for one night. I usually work remote, but I had to be in the office two days in a row, this week, in Pittsburgh. I wanted to stay somewhere out of the city. This place fit the bill. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were nice, and clean. It had everything I wanted. I would definitely come back.

I've honestly never been to a hotel where no one was at the desk when I walked in. Because of work, sometimes I have to check in after 10pm, which was around the time I walked into this hotel. I waited ~15 min and saw no one. Especially when you're tired, it just feels like a pretty long time to wait. The number I called connected me to headquarters, who in turn began calling the hotel on my behalf. I believe they tried at least 3 times and finally someone showed up. This was pretty disappointing service after a long day of work when I just wanted to get to bed. The room itself was fine, pretty clean and comfortable, but starting to look a little bit run down. Service was just disappointing though and that's definitely a significant part of the stay. For that reason I probably wouldn't be back.

To the Manager of this property: Staff is outstanding! Very clean, quiet hotel. Give this staff a raise! You have a wonderful crew. Good price for my stay. Will definitely be back.

The front desk staff very rude and unprofessional

The checking at 3pm wasn’t any problem and the lady (Christy) who help us at that time was excellent, but when we left to a family gathering and came back at 11pm, we ask a the service guests in the front desk (Michael) for towels he answered with an attitude and told us to bring the dirty towels first, we went to the room and the keys weren’t working, we came back to the desk we didn’t see anyone so we said “hello”, no response, we knock the desk softly since it was not a bell in the front desk, Mr. Michael came out and with a nasty attitude say “don’t bang my desk” we said sir we didn’t bang the desk, we just softly knock to get a response. He answered “I’m going to have you remove from the property”, I answered “sir we just want our keys to be reset because it is not working”, he answered “leave my front desk”, I answered “how can we leave since our keys are not working”, Mr. Michael answered “I will call the police”, I said why we just want to have functional keys to get in our room to rest, but yes call the police”. 3 officers came ask what happened and we resumed the same story I mentioned above, one of the officers told Mr. Michael reset their keys and told us go to your room. After the officers left, Mr. Michael insisted that he needs Identifications or we have to leave the property, “ I said we are trying to get rest now. He insisted to said “he will call the police again” I called the police this time. The experience was terrible, Mr. Michael treated us terrible.

My check in date was for 2nd May , I had called the hotel in the evening around 6pm on the number listed on the email and spoke to their representative to let them know that I was on my way from NewYork and I had a Long drive of 7 hrs ahead of me, I would reach the hotel late in the night / early morning hours post 2am. The representative confirmed my booking on the phone. When I arrived at the hotel , I was in for a rude shock , the night manager informed me that they cancelled my booking and gave my room to somebody else. At 230am, I was left stranded without a hotel in the middle of the night. The night manager was extremely rude and did not apologize nor take any responsibility for the mistake on their end. On top of that I was even charged for the night. Absolutely the worst!

Staff is unfriendly and unprofessional

Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was clean and quiet. There was a not so pleasant mix up when I checked in. They extended a stay for an existing guest, in the double room that was intended for me and they were intending to place my husband and I in 2 single rooms, even though I had reservations on the room for 4 months. The manager made good by offering me a discount and only charging it as a single room but the inconvenience. We then decided to only take one of the rooms as 2 would not be needed. It’s just the whole thing was crazy The manager was amazing though.

I was stranded by another hotel close by and the staff member at the desk at 10PM worked with Expedia to get me a room. I couldn’t ask for more help! The room itself needed a deep clean, and I didn’t realize a coffee machine would not be in the room (I think it’s common at an Extended Stays?). I would stay again here, though, because the service was so helpful.

It’s in the middle of everything

Located in a great spot where many stores, food places including a mall is accessible. Staff are great.

Good stay with good location. In town for business and was a quick Uber to all locations.

There are always people smoking pot, right near the door around back... I never felt completely safe in the room. Under the bed was VERY dirty, hair old socks... next time i will pay more to stay somewhere else.

We stay here every year for one night and have never had any issues or problems. The rooms are a good size, the prices are reasonable and the front desk people are friendly. They only have a grab n go breakfast but there are plenty of restaurants nearby for bigger breakfast if grab n go isn't your thing. I don't mind grab n go but I do wish they would offer their muffins and nutri grain bars in a different flavor than blueberry. It's almost always blueberry, my least favorite!

On the plus side, the room was modern and clean, and the bed was comfortable. On the minus side, I had to wait for at least five minutes for someone to show up to staff the check-in desk. Also, after the desk clerk described the free breakfast (minimal) and indicated it was served on a tiny (2 by 3 feet) side table in the lobby, I decided to just skip it and went to Starbucks instead. Also, the address is shown as being on Duff Road, but there is no access to the property from Duff Road. You have to go back to US 22, turn right, then bear right onto Northern Pike, then turn right into a small shopping center, then find your way to the back of it to get to the hotel. At the entrance to the shopping center there's just a small sign with only the hotel's logo but not its name. All in all, it was just OK.

Overall okay. Smoke smell in room. Liked it is near Denny's and Five Guys.

It was convenient to the work I went to do. But it is not quiet for resting. it also has a lot of drug activities. My room was stinking and you could smell the drugs from outside the building as well.

Breakfast is a joke - one packaged muffin and oatmeal packet

Staff friendly. The room was as clean as it could be but a lot of little things were worn down such as the calking around the tub and kitchen counter. For the price it was good

Breakfast included is a farce. Coffee/tea, pre-packaged muffins, and packages of oatmeal. There are no bowls or other utensils in the kitchenettes. Not sure how you were supposed to make oatmeal

It was an enjoyable stay. My only comment is there is very few choices on the continental breakfast and no unsweetened creamer or half and half.

The stay was nice and reasonably priced given that there was a home Steelers game that weekend which was causing a lot of hotels to sell out. Breakfast was just some granola bars and packets of instant oatmeal. The room was spacious and clean (except for some old stains on the carpet) and the hotel was quiet and in a nice area. Overall we definitely would stay there again.

The hotel smelled like weed everywhere you would go. Our fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling. We only had one towel and washcloth even though they knew there were three people staying in the room. The room key didn’t work half of the time. The “breakfast” they offer is coffee and small muffins. The staff were mostly friendly.
