Extended Stay America Suites - Charleston - Mt Pleasant

I’m baffled why there are negative reviews of this place. The staff were so helpful, including Gloria and Renald (I think that was his name, it was something close to that). The room was clean and the air conditioner worked well. The washroom was fine. The room had been updated. They are doing renovations right now. The fellow at check-in told me there had been a few mix-ups with online reservations where the system was trying to put people into rooms currently under renovation. So he was careful to ensure that didn’t happen to us. It took an extra 5 minutes, no big deal, I appreciate his efforts. I’m actually irritated at the negative comments about the hotel, because I almost didn’t stay here due to them. It was truly a fine place to be, and saved me money. And if the elevator or a hallway smells bad - that just might be because the last person who used it hasn’t showered in a bit and this is the South, where everyone sweats. It might not be a problem with the hotel. I definitely had that happen at one point. The hallway was fine, then a lady walked past who definitely needed a shower. Then the hallway did not smell fine for several minutes. That isn’t the fault of a hotel though! We love Charleston, and the location of this place was great for us, I’ll totally stay here again.

Our first room given to us was dirty and hadn't been cleaned from previous guest. The next room they moved us to had roaches everywhere on the floor as soon as we turned on the lights ther ran everywhere. The bathroom had no soap or shampoo or a ice bucket in the room and when we asked the front office we was told they where out and was offered some dish washing soap in a cup. We checked out around 7:30 and there was no fruit offered or any kind of juice for the breakfast just coffee and only two chocolate muffins where available. I rented two rooms and paid over $400 for one night it was horrible.
