Staff were incredibly helpful and very nice. No pool and a lot of walking to town but it’s quiet and clean and the views were breathtaking. We had dinner on the terrace twice and the food and the service were excellent but the views were amazing.

The hotel has its own private beach, which was so convenient and relaxing. We enjoyed it every day. Be prepared to walk at least 20 minutes into town on a hill. Also budget for taxi transportation on the days you don’t want to walk back up the hill. Overall, the hotel is quite lovely and all of the food and drinks that we had were delicious. The communication with the staff was excellent.

This is a charming property with fabulous views. Our room was huge with a wrap around patio, pergola with wisteria vines, a bed and outside shower - not to mention the most incredible views of the sea. The bathroom had a huge ceramic tile jacuzzi tub. Our dinner and breakfast was excellent. The staff was very kind and helpful. There is an elevator that takes you down to their beach area, although you do have a small walk after you get off the elevator, just be aware of that. All this said, the only thing keeping this resort from being a 5 star review was that it appeared to have had better days, and perhaps it has been difficult since covid. The bed was not comfortable, the water flow and temperature in the shower/tub was not consistent, the beach area was run down somewhat. Our patio had not appeared to have been cleaned up before we arrived, so there was leaves/sticks all over the place (yes it was windy, so hard to know) You had to carry your own bags to your room which involved navigating stairs. We enjoyed our time there! Just know that there are a few minor issues that prevent this charming place from being 5 stars.

I thought this place was great! private beach with elevator to the bottom, food was good, service always friendly, close enough to walk into the action of downtown but far enough not to get hassled by it. Top of the hill views can't hardly be beat. Parking is somewhat limited so don't go thinking your big family reunion is all going to swing Escalades into the parking lot.

Property has a wonderful view looking back at Sorrento. The beach area was not well maintained. The walls are thin and could hear the room above using the toilet and all sounds associated with that. Could hear the room next door having sex. Not the most enjoyable experience. It is walkable to town and had a pretty view. Wouldn’t stay here again.

The hotel has no pool. They offer you a private beach, but they charge you for it. The room was quite small and the Internet had problems. €400 a night is a lot to spend for a small room with problems (which they tried to fix and apologized for ) and on top of that they want to charge you to park the car and use their private beach.

Vi är supernöjda med vår vistelse! Hotellet var välstädat och kändes fräscht, personalen var hjälpsam och trevlig, och frukosten var riktigt god med mycket att välja på. Utsikten var vacker – men det absolut bästa var den privata stranden, lugn och perfekt för avkoppling. Rekommenderas varmt!

My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel La Tonnarella while visiting southern Italy. We made this our home base while making some day trips. We had a wonderful experience. Hotel was lovely, clean and staff was welcoming. Views were amazing! I would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Do not stay in room number 9. Everyone thinks it’s the reception and constantly tries to open the door. You hear everyone entering and existing hotel at night and in the morning. Could not sleep, plus multiple groups tried to get in the room making us so uncomfortable. Floors were very dirty but rest of room was fairly clean. Staff was polite and helpful, we just got shafted with the worst room of the hotel.

The property is very clean and everyone is super nice. The pictures on the website are exactly as it is. The property is on the water and the views are breathtaking. Mount Vesuvius is in the background. The on-site restaurant is very fine dining and the food is excellent. Great wine selection also. if I get a chance to come back to Sorrento, I will definitely stay here!

Hello, We absolutely loved the area and thought the hotel itself was gorgeous and very clean. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by an ongoing issue that made it impossible to sleep. From the moment we arrived, we heard very loud and consistent banging noises coming from the walls, which we believe were from the pipes. We reported it to the front desk, who did come to our room and confirmed they also heard the noise. We both agreed this was not coming from another resident, and this did seem to be from the pipes. However, they explained that maintenance was unavailable until the following day and nothing could be done in the meantime. While the staff mentioned this was something they had never encountered before, the fact remained that we were left in a room where restful sleep was impossible. This was extremely disappointing, especially given how beautiful and otherwise enjoyable the property was. Because the issue was unresolved during our stay and significantly impacted our ability to use the room as intended, we kindly request a refund through Expedia for this reservation.

El hotel está muy bonito. Desde que llegamos la explicación y atención del encargado fue buenísima. La habitación que nos tocó estaba amplia y bien distribuida, solo que el desagüe de la ducha olía mal en ocasiones. Es accesible caminando desde el centro de Sorrento (1.2 km - 15 mins). Se puede llegar en bus (Vía Capo) y la parada queda a 1 minuto caminando. Tiene un área de playa privada, aunque como fuimos a finales de octubre, no habían amenidades disponibles. El dasayuno estaba incluido, completo y buen servicio. En general, lo recomiendo y me volvería a quedar.

We became ill in Naples the day before arrival and had to delay our stay by one night. The hotel was able to assign us the same room which was the top suite in the facility at the same cost for a Friday night with no penalty for cancellation. Our room was unbelievable with a wrap-around balcony, bedstyle lounge outdoor shower and a magnificent view of the harbor, bay and Vesuvius. The room was elgant with tiled floors and a small table and chairs to enjoy wine and cheese while watching the seagulls fly below us at sunset. Breakfast was lovely and the short 8 minute walk downhill to Sorrento restaurants , shops churches was rewarding and invigorating. Staff was first class and helpful by setting up a taxi ride to Pompeii upon departure. On a final note the rainhead i our hot tub spa shower was broken and the staff had it entirely replaced and fixed despite the discovery on a Friday nght at 6 pm. To have that service performed in a matter of hours while we had dinner in town is a testament to the excellence of the hotel staff. We have stayed at fabulous hotels with breathtaking views from our rooms in Ireland, Hawaii, France and Sonoma Valley the Hotel Tonnarella is permanently ensconced alongside those memories.

This is by far the most unique and beautiful hotel that we have ever stayed in! The location was a 15 min walk to the city center and on the peak of a beautiful cliff that give you the most amazing view of Sorrento the marinas and the Mediterranean. The patio off of our room had room for 20 people with 2 chase loungers and a table with chairs and an umbrella. The glass doorwall to the patio was HUGe and gave you an amazing view while open or closed. the small room had (2) flat screen TV's, a mini bar, a place to make in room coffee or tea and a very updated lighting and cooling system. This was the best room of our 14 day Italy vacation. If we return to Sorrento this will be our only choice for a hotel.

This is by far the most unique and beautiful hotel that we have ever stayed in! The location was a 15 min walk to the city center and on the peak of a beautiful cliff that give you the most amazing view of Sorrento the marinas and the Mediterranean. The patio off of our room had room for 20 people with 2 chase loungers and a table with chairs and an umbrella. The glass doorwall to the patio was HUGe and gave you an amazing view while open or closed. the small room had (2) flat screen TV's, a mini bar, a place to make in room coffee or tea and a very updated lighting and cooling system. This was the best room of our 14 day Italy vacation. If we return to Sorrento this will be our only choice for a hotel.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Our room was the most beautiful hotel room I have even been in. The views from our balconies were stunning. The hotel is quiet and safe and easy to navigate. This is a charming property with fabulous views. Our room was huge with a wrap around patio, pergola with wisteria vines, a bed and outside shower - not to mention the most incredible views of the sea. The bathroom had a huge ceramic tile jacuzzi tub. Our dinner and breakfast was excellent. The staff was very kind and helpful. There is an elevator that takes you down to their beach area, although you do have a small walk after you get off the elevator, just be aware of that. All this said, the only thing keeping this resort from being a 5 star review was that it appeared to have had better days, and perhaps it has been difficult since covid. The bed was not comfortable, the water flow and temperature in the shower/tub was not consistent, the beach area was run down somewhat. Our patio had not appeared to have been cleaned up before we arrived, so there was leaves/sticks all over the place (yes it was windy, so hard to know) You had to carry your own bags to your room which involved navigating stairs. Property has a wonderful view looking back at Sorrento. The beach area was not well maintained. The walls are thin and could hear the room above using the toilet and all sounds associated with that. Could hear the room next door having sex. Not the most enjoyable experience. It is walkable to town and had a pretty view. Wouldn’t stay here again.

The stay was good. The view in the dining area where breakfast was served was amazing. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Different types of eggs - hard boiled, fried, scrambled. The pastries were amazing. They had this croissant with a custard filling that makes my mouth water while writing. Our room did not have an ocean view which I understand would’ve have cost more and most of the reviews suggested getting. Our room did have a large private balcony which was convenient for drying laundry. Now for the negatives- the main annoyance was that the AC (air conditioning) only worked when the room key (like a credit card) was in the slot, which meant that if we were away all day, the room was quite warm when we returned and then it took hours to cool down. Now I understand the rationale for not using electricity when no one is there but the hotel had the AC blasting in the hallway continuously which to me would seem to negate the cost saving to keep it off in the guests’ rooms. On this trip, we stayed in several hotels (Venice, Rome) where the AC was on in the room continuously and not on in the hallway. We really appreciated a cool comfortable room after being in the heat - Sorrento was only about 26 C (80 F) but the humidity was 76%; Rome was 37 C or 100 F. The other annoyance was the sit down shower - it was a bathtub with a hand wand for the shower. It did have good water pressure but sitting taking a shower was weird.

We booked a junior suite for one night. We were told is was an amazing room (and more expensive than most). We got a room next to the reception/front desk - so it was super loud and starting at 6AM we would hear people coming and leaving and making a lot of noise. Terrible experience.

We became ill in Naples the day before arrival and had to delay our stay by one night. The hotel was able to assign us the same room which was the top suite in the facility at the same cost for a Friday night with no penalty for cancellation. Our room was unbelievable with a wrap-around balcony, bedstyle lounge outdoor shower and a magnificent view of the harbor, bay and Vesuvius. The room was elgant with tiled floors and a small table and chairs to enjoy wine and cheese while watching the seagulls fly below us at sunset. Breakfast was lovely and the short 8 minute walk downhill to Sorrento restaurants , shops churches was rewarding and invigorating. Staff was first class and helpful by setting up a taxi ride to Pompeii upon departure. On a final note the rainhead i our hot tub spa shower was broken and the staff had it entirely replaced and fixed despite the discovery on a Friday nght at 6 pm. To have that service performed in a matter of hours while we had dinner in town is a testament to the excellence of the hotel staff. We have stayed at fabulous hotels with breathtaking views from our rooms in Ireland, Hawaii, France and Sonoma Valley the Hotel Tonnarella is permanently ensconced alongside those memories.

Absolutely incredible stay. My husband and I spent four nights here and it felt like home by the end (though much more beautiful than our actual home). The reception desk went above and beyond for us to help us get a taxi when we made a mistake. The wait staff was so friendly and accommodating. The views are unreal. Beach is a little oasis. Beautiful walk to the center of town. When we come back to Sorrento we will stay here.

Hello, We absolutely loved the area and thought the hotel itself was gorgeous and very clean. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by an ongoing issue that made it impossible to sleep. From the moment we arrived, we heard very loud and consistent banging noises coming from the walls, which we believe were from the pipes. We reported it to the front desk, who did come to our room and confirmed they also heard the noise. We both agreed this was not coming from another resident, and this did seem to be from the pipes. However, they explained that maintenance was unavailable until the following day and nothing could be done in the meantime. While the staff mentioned this was something they had never encountered before, the fact remained that we were left in a room where restful sleep was impossible. This was extremely disappointing, especially given how beautiful and otherwise enjoyable the property was. Because the issue was unresolved during our stay and significantly impacted our ability to use the room as intended, we kindly request a refund through Expedia for this reservation.

I thought this place was great! private beach with elevator to the bottom, food was good, service always friendly, close enough to walk into the action of downtown but far enough not to get hassled by it. Top of the hill views can't hardly be beat. Parking is somewhat limited so don't go thinking your big family reunion is all going to swing Escalades into the parking lot.

The property is very clean and everyone is super nice. The pictures on the website are exactly as it is. The property is on the water and the views are breathtaking. Mount Vesuvius is in the background. The on-site restaurant is very fine dining and the food is excellent. The stay was good. The view in the dining area where breakfast was served was amazing. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Different types of eggs - hard boiled, fried, scrambled. The pastries were amazing. They had this croissant with a custard filling that makes my mouth water while writing. Our room did not have an ocean view which I understand would’ve have cost more and most of the reviews suggested getting. Our room did have a large private balcony which was convenient for drying laundry. Now for the negatives- the main annoyance was that the AC (air conditioning) only worked when the room key (like a credit card) was in the slot, which meant that if we were away all day, the room was quite warm when we returned and then it took hours to cool down. Now I understand the rationale for not using electricity when no one is there but the hotel had the AC blasting in the hallway continuously which to me would seem to negate the cost saving to keep it off in the guests’ rooms. On this trip, we stayed in several hotels (Venice, Rome) where the AC was on in the room continuously and not on in the hallway. We really appreciated a cool comfortable room after being in the heat - Sorrento was only about 26 C (80 F) but the humidity was 76%; Rome was 37 C or 100 F. The other annoyance was the sit down shower - it was a bathtub with a hand wand for the shower. It did have good water pressure but sitting taking a shower was weird.

Just outside of town of Sorrento, short 10 minute walk. Amazing views from most all rooms (with balconies) service is excellent, excellent dining on location, breakfast with eggs, bacon, plus fresh fruit and more.

Very friendly staff, both in the reception, the restaurant, cleaning staff and by the beach area. Stunning view from the hotel room and the restaurant. The hotel is located on a hill, so be prepared to walk close to the road if you’re walking to the city center. It takes 15 minutes to walk down. 25 euros from the city center to the hotel, which we did during the evening.

The hotel is around 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento, the views from our room over the town and also Napoli and Etna in the distance were stunning. The staff were great and always helpful. The food was really good both breakfast and dinner on the terrace. The room was nice, only issue we had was there is only a single power socket in the room, quite difficult when you want to charge any devices.

Location at top of a hill grows on you. Especially after navigating crowded downtown Sorento or after a visit to Pompeii. One begins to appreciate the quiet charm of this hotel. Food is good to excellent. The wait staffs service at dinner was good but dinner took a long time. It could be cultural fact that not everyone on staff spoke English. The view of Bay of Naples from dining area was breath taking. I would return to this hotel!
