Hampton Inn & Suites Albany-Downtown

The elevator stopped working on Friday morning. In order to get breakfast, go to my meeting and bring all my luggage and supplies to my car, I had to use the stairs. It was very difficult for me because I was on the 7th floor and have problems with my knees. The staff kept telling me that the elevator was fixed when it was not working. They couldn’t even tell me when it would be fixed.

Need to make sure to have on the website that only 1 parking spot per room and that you have to pay for it it's not included that was the only thing that was a large inconvenience when 3 of us staying showed up from different areas and had to find parking and then when I went inside only to find out I had to pay to park at the hotel. A heads up would have just been helpful

Within walking distance to restaurants and MVP Arena, a really excellent convenience, but the parking, at the hotel, is bad. $20 a night for valet parking, which is just a desk person moving an orange cone, and showing you a spot to park in. If you’re there for a weekend, on street parking is free after 5pm Friday-Sunday, but finding a spot is not an easy task, you gotta be quick and ready when a spot comes open. Other than the parking issues, we would definitely stay there again!

The location was great for the event we were attending. Staff at check in were quite rude but different staff at checkout were very nice. It was obvious there were renovations happening at the time of our stay as there were areas with lots of clutter and debris from construction. Concerning that outlet covers were left off outlets in the hallways.

Conveniently located in the downtown area. Nice continental breakfast. Access to Yono’s restaurant- recommend. Very clean and roomy king size suite - the shower is a bit tricky and the hot water is HOT!

I booked this hotel specifically because of location and laundry services as strange as it sounds. I was taking a short trip where I would be needing to do a few loads of laundry. When I checked into the hotel, there were no laundry services and no laundry rooms. Clearly stated on Travelocity that had laundry services. Altered my entire trip. Sucks!

The hotel itself was fine, with a good choice at the buffet breakfast. The room was a decent size, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was big. However, the hotel amenities advertised and the reality were very different. There was no safe deposit facility at the front desk, (and apparently there never was), both of the restaurants and the bar were closed, all until further notice,but none of the reception staff knew why. It was only the lack of safe or safe deposit facility that affected us, but if you're expecting to use a restaurant or bar I would contact the hotel directly to check first.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. With only one elevator working, it took longer to get up and down in a hotel with this many guests and floors. The drinks at breakfast were not served cold and our ice machine did not work on our floor. Mostly inconveniences but worth mentioning.

Overall the property was nice and well located. The elevators however were a disaster as one cab worked intermittently and the other not at all

This was a perfect overnight stay on our road trip. It was comfortable and most importantly clean!

Shower had black mold in it. We just didn’t use the shower, should have said something but I didn’t and we decided to just not shower. Other that that, it was a nice stay. Breakfast was great and the area was very walkable with lots of dining options around.

The location to mvp arena was great. The mattresses and pillows were uncomfortable. The bathroom was dirty with stains on the walls. The sheets had holes in them. The complimentary breakfast was average. The staff were pleasant and friendly. I won’t stay again. Would rather just pay more and stay at the Hilton.

To give credit where it is due, all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the furniture was all comfy enough. I was also given a top-floor room, which I appreciated. However, there were a handful of problems that I had here: 1) The hot water for the faucet was near scalding hot, even when just turning the hot water handle slightly up. Certainly not a critical issue, but I would worry for kids who might just crank it full blast without thinking. 2) The walls in this place were pretty paper-thin. I went to bed a little past one, but was awoken at 3:30 due to a heavily-slammed door and subsequent commotion. Further door slams, hallway conversations, and even talking from other rooms kept me from falling back asleep. 3) In leaving the room in the morning, I noticed some rather ominous staining on the bottom corner of my mattress. See attached photo. 4) I spent a portion of the evening in the lobby with a friend. While talking, I noticed motion on the far side of the lobby, heading towards the garbage can at the breakfast bar. I alerted the woman at the front desk that there might be a mouse in the lobby, and brought her over. Sure enough, as soon as we closed in, the mouse sprinted from behind the can and out towards us, then towards the offices. She alluded to this being a persistent problem. This put a damper on the complimentary breakfast. For me, it was really disappointing to see so many problems for a hotel that was on the pricier side of Albany offerings.

The guy at the front desk wasn’t as welcoming as the women was my last stay. The bathroom in the room I stayed in wasn’t clean. The shower had hair in it and the toilet was dirty. I cleaned it myself. The extra blankets in the closet were dirty. Cleanliness is very important if you want people to return.

We checked in and our room had dripping wet carpet. Since there is no other room available in the hotel, we have to unfortunately spend our night in the smelly and wet room. Highly unqualified for a USD 200 room. Request a refund for the inconvenience dispensed due to poor room condition. Plus- toiletries were also missing.

Room had just a tiny window, prety claustrophobic. Mattress was terrible.

Room was fine, the usual one expects from a chain hotel - plenty of space and an adequate bathroom. Overhot unless you can sleep with the A/C on. The breakfast has declined significantly since last we stayed in a Hampton pre-Covid. A lot more processed foods - some quite suspicious ones - and who puts corn syrup on waffles ? We won't choose to stay in a Hampton again.

Paid for valet parking which was not valet. The valet handed me my keys and told me where I would find my car in the parking lot. Hallway smelt musty. Room was clean, but the bed was not comfortable.

There was a construction going on the floor we stayed but we were not informed. Poorly covered the area. We could hear people talking in the other rooms, hear closing doors etc very loudly.

Room was supposed to be cleaned after 2 days but never happened....thermostate not working but I never complained

Hotel seemed very centrally located however, no true convenience stores exist nearby for a quick haul of bottled water/snacks (although the hotel does offer that at concierge). When we called down for extra bath towels & bedding for the pull out sofa bed we were told to come down to the lobby rather than the hotel sending someone up with those items. We did have the whirlpool room which was spacious, beds were comfortable, room was clean. It is worn in some spots like the decor (water stained hanged pictures; drooping wooden “floating” towel shelves in the bathroom; curtains off hooks/torn at the top). Breakfast was crowded in spurts but was available. Overall pleasant stay.

Very clean, friendly staff. Did not like the noise seeing we were near the elevator and the loud slamming doors. Also I could heer everything our neighbors were saying due to an adjoining door between the rooms.

Room was clean, bed was comfy. AC turns off in the middle of the night which made it uncomfortable to wake up during. Room entry doors slam shut and make terribly loud noise which caused us to be woken up at 6am and did not allow us to fall back asleep.

The air conditioning units in the rooms were extremely noisy - we had to wear earplugs just to get a good night sleep.

Stayed in a king size room (211). Very bright spotlight on roof top outside room window that could not be shaded due to torn window covering (likely prior occupants attempted force closure of drapery) and King size bed cover was hundreds of frayed threads. Pillows and mattress were definitely not the same quality as prior Hampton Inn in Oneiata, NY that we stayed at prior to this stay.

The security, cleanliness, and staff were excellent. Location, perfect. Even during an Albany power outage the staff was courteous and on board to meet everyone’s needs. Parking was available and staffed. We were very pleased with our stay.

Housekeeping was poor, beds not made properly, towels badly stained and facecloths looked like floor cloths. Supervisor on reception (lady) quite rude and abrupt. Breakfast offer well below Hampton standard, same offer for 3 days, no fresh fruit, or as mgr juice ran out as did coffee and practically had to beg for replacements. All in all not good value.

The front desk was very helpful and accommodated our unique needs. Beautiful hotel with delicious breakfast.

Great place to stay if you are seeing a show at the Palace. Staff is wonderful, especially Amanda.

The front desk staff is terrible. We arrived at 12:30 and door was locked. We ring for 5 minutes finally he let got in. Then the staff is rude telling us to wait for 10 minutes because he needs to reboot the system. We have never experienced this kind of condition at a hotel. Very disappointing.

Front desk staff was fast, friendly and curteous. They helped with my questions about resturants and bars around the hotel.

The hair dryer in our room didn't work. We called the desk and within 3, yes three, minutes, there was someone at our door with a brand new one. Great customer service.

We were impressed with the ease of checking in, the parking with valet offered and the ease of checking out plus great location!

The hotel is located in a sketchy neighborhood. Though it is clearly being rebuilt and upgraded, the general feeling is one of unsafe.

Centrally located with a small walk to many restaurants. Nice and clean, staff was very nice.

Stayed for event at palace theatre. Perfect location- walkable.

Close to the arena and the theater. Not much food options around it. Mostly pubs, no fast food chains in the event you want something quick. Hotel is clean and not too busy. Check in was easy. No line up. You have to pay for parking which is a bummer

Walking distance to attractions! Phenomenal restaurants!

Easy to get to, efficient check-in, clean rooms, decent buffet breakfast, easy checkout. But best was its location, mere steps away from Empire Live - great shows!

I didn’t like that we had to pay for Valet parking. It should be included with the hotel stay. It was so crowded waiting for a valet worker to come take everyone’s ticket to get their car. Also the breakfast was not good. The sausages did not look cooked fully and the eggs were runny and wet. And for as big as this hotel is, why is there only one waffle maker? We had to stand on line to wait to make a waffle because it was crowded with only one waffle maker. My room didn’t have a microwave in it. Wasn’t to happy with my stay this time.

My wife and I had an excellent stay at downtown Hampton. It was an easy walk to the MVP arena where we were seeing a concert. The breakfast was excellent and the dining area was very comfortable and like-home.

Loved how close it was to MVP arena. Did not like that the bar only opened at 5 pm and was booked so you couldnt even have a drink in your own hotel.

Great hotel, very nice, excellent location to Palace Theater. In house restaurant was awesome. Great food and reasonable prices.
