The Chanler was one of THE nicest places we have ever stayed. The staff certainly was THE nicest staff with whom we have ever stayed. A gorgeous property overall, a spectacular but warm and charming room, a staff that couldn't do enough for us. Christina was superb. From carrying our luggage up two flights of stairs, to bringing us blankets at the firepit, They anticipated our every need and helped us in every way possible to enjoy ourselves.

The Chanler is a very nice place. Although for what you get it is very over-priced. The rooms are great, the grounds are great, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There just aren't enough of them. The bar is understaffed as was the breakfast wait staff. It shouldn't take 90 minutes for breakfast. The bar closes at 9 so don't plan on coming back from dinner and having a drink outside to listen to the waves if it's past 9, unless you brought your own wine. Having a drink outside in the afternoon requires you to order directly at the bar. These are all minor inconveniences but for the cost of a room in the summer, it's just not worth it. Stay downtown, walk to everything, and have many more options.

This was an amazing experience! Exceptional property and service. Definitely a Five Star location, located along the famous Cliff Walk, right on the ocean! We stayed in the French Provincial room which had amazing ocean views. The room itself was flawless and beautiful, heated floors in the super large bathroom, everything was sparkling clean. We felt pampered from the moment we arrived until our departure. The staff was amazing, including Hannah, the maitre-de, to Craig, our on-staff driver, who took us into town. Everything was first-class, including breakfast with expert waitstaff, delicious food, and ocean views. We will be back!

They also offered the hotel car to take us to the downtown Newport area, but we walked every time we went which was a one mile easy walk one way.

From the moment I booked my reservation at The Chanler at Cliff Walk, the experience was exceptional. Hannah, the concierge, is an outstanding host! Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome, delicious sparkling wine, and a quick tour of this magnificent place. We booked “The Renaissance” room, which is not only the largest but also the BEST room. The view was exceptional! Waking up to the delightful sunrise was a highlight. The room itself is spacious, bright, and elegantly fit for royalty. I highly recommend booking dinner at the restaurant inside The Chanler. The food is absolutely divine! The memorable meals, including the Wagyu steak I had, were so outstanding they earned a core memory. Our waiter, Alex, and another gentleman were so knowledgeable and funny, making the experience magical. I also highly recommend getting in-room spa treatments from Sarah and Jen, they are truly wonderful and experts at their craft. The hospitality of this majestic hotel is unforgettable. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about The Chanler! What a beautiful hotel right on the Cliff Walk. The staff was the best we’ve encountered in our many travels. Our room was spotless each day. We will definitely go back the next time we visit Newport.

This hotel is expensive,but it exceeded my expectations….they do everything just right.The added little touches made the entire experience so much more enjoyable.The complimentary car service is greatly appreciated.The staff are beyond courteous,helpful,and a joy to interact with.The rooms are well appointed and housekeeping was exceptional.Turn down service at night with complimentary sweets was a nice touch.Once you experience this hotel,it will be hard not to want to always return here,when visiting Newport.

The Chanler was one of THE nicest places we have ever stayed. The staff certainly was THE nicest staff with whom we have ever stayed. A gorgeous property overall, a spectacular but warm and charming room, a staff that couldn't do enough for us. Christina was superb. From carrying our luggage up two flights of stairs, to bringing us blankets at the firepit, They anticipated our every need and helped us in every way possible to enjoy ourselves.

Charming property, brilliantly situated at the beginning of the famous Cliff Walk. The unique decor of our room (Mediterranean) added to the ambiance, and the dining room and bar area were comfortable and romantic. Menus were varied and delectable and the service was impeccable.

This extraordinary establishment is perfect in every way. The ambience, the ocean views, the elegant decor all make for an extremely enjoyable peaceful experience. Each room is decorated differently, but each room is excellent in their own way. The working fireplaces make this an excellent choice for a fall getaway. This hotel will not disappoint. This was an amazing experience! Exceptional property and service. Definitely a Five Star location, located along the famous Cliff Walk, right on the ocean! We stayed in the French Provincial room which had amazing ocean views. The room itself was flawless and beautiful, heated floors in the super large bathroom, everything was sparkling clean. We felt pampered from the moment we arrived until our departure. The staff was amazing, including Hannah, the maitre-de, to Craig, our on-staff driver, who took us into town. Everything was first-class, including breakfast with expert waitstaff, delicious food, and ocean views. We will be back!

Great views, great location and incredibly well trained and friendly personnel , both on the front desk, valet and restaurant. Room is super charming and well appointed. On the negative, although the room heater was off the residual heat coming from it did not allow me to shut off the AC which was not a big deal since it was quiet but still Also perhaps a bit pricey, it should include breakfast for that cost.

The Chanler is a very nice place. Although for what you get it is very over-priced. The rooms are great, the grounds are great, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There just aren't enough of them. The bar is understaffed as was the breakfast wait staff. It shouldn't take 90 minutes for breakfast. The bar closes at 9 so don't plan on coming back from dinner and having a drink outside to listen to the waves if it's past 9, unless you brought your own wine. Having a drink outside in the afternoon requires you to order directly at the bar. These are all minor inconveniences but for the cost of a room in the summer, it's just not worth it. Stay downtown, walk to everything, and have many more options.

The property is lovely and in a great setting. While the service was attentive they could have been far more helpful. My wife is immuno-compromised and we asked if we could eat outdoors and were told no despite the inn having tables with heaters 10 feet outside their enclosed back porch. We then asked for help finding outdoor dining in Newport and were told restaurants don't accept reservations for that in Newport. We then went online and found that not to be true and booked something and when we out to dinner found a dozen restaurants in Newport serving outdoors. It's a small inn with a modest number of guests. The small points of of service were high; actual helpfulness not so much.

We have absolutely nothing negative to say about The Chanler! What a beautiful hotel right on the Cliff Walk. The staff was the best we’ve encountered in our many travels. Our room was spotless each day. We will definitely go back the next time we visit Newport.

From the moment I booked my reservation at The Chanler at Cliff Walk, the experience was exceptional. Hannah, the concierge, is an outstanding host! Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome, delicious sparkling wine, and a quick tour of this magnificent place. We booked “The Renaissance” room, which is not only the largest but also the BEST room. The view was exceptional! Waking up to the delightful sunrise was a highlight. The room itself is spacious, bright, and elegantly fit for royalty. I highly recommend booking dinner at the restaurant inside The Chanler. The food is absolutely divine! The memorable meals, including the Wagyu steak I had, were so outstanding they earned a core memory. Our waiter, Alex, and another gentleman were so knowledgeable and funny, making the experience magical. I also highly recommend getting in-room spa treatments from Sarah and Jen, they are truly wonderful and experts at their craft. The hospitality of this majestic hotel is unforgettable. The room itself is spacious, bright, and elegantly fit for royalty. I highly recommend booking dinner at the restaurant inside The Chanler. The food is absolutely divine! The memorable meals, including the Wagyu steak I had, were so outstanding they earned a core memory. Our waiter, Alex, and another gentleman were so knowledgeable and funny, making the experience magical. I also highly recommend getting in-room spa treatments from Sarah and Jen, they are truly wonderful and experts at their craft. The hospitality of this majestic hotel is unforgettable. I highly recommend experiencing The Chanler at Cliff Walk. Thank you so much to the stupendous staff.

The property is lovely and in a great setting. While the service was attentive they could have been far more helpful. My wife is immuno-compromised and we asked if we could eat outdoors and were told no despite the inn having tables with heaters 10 feet outside their enclosed back porch. We then asked for help finding outdoor dining in Newport and were told restaurants don't accept reservations for that in Newport. We then went online and found that not to be true and booked something and when we out to dinner found a dozen restaurants in Newport serving outdoors. It's a small inn with a modest number of guests. The small points of of service were high; actual helpfulness not so much.

Great property - friendly welcome with a glass of wine. Room decor wonderful. Breakfast food was excellent - Michelin quality with super service from Christine. Valet service efficient and friendly.

Overall, an amazing experience. Hotel and service was impeccable. Room was really terrific. The only issue was that I snagged my dress jacket on a nail that was sticking out on one of their dinning room chairs. The restaurant manager came over and indicated that the ‘hotel’s tailor’ would take care of it. Not sure that the hotel even had a tailor and it was Labor Day weekend as well. No one from the hotel ever followed up.

This was my sixth time staying here. This time we came with a small group ,everyone thought the place was amazing. The staff, as usual, were absolutely great. The grounds this time of the year are almost magical in their appearance.

Staying at The Chanler,once again,did not disappoint. once you cross the threshold, you are transported into a whimsical magical experience. The new decor, is dramatic ,alluring, and eclectic. But it will not fail to Wow you! The staff is once again absolutely amazing. They are efficient, engaging, and go out of the way to make you feel special and welcomed. The rooms are simply decorated perfectly. The on-site restaurant is amazing and every meal is a memorable experience the weight staff at the restaurant are also simply amazing .The Atlantic ocean views are priceless. The grounds are spectacular . Everything about this establishment is well thought out and perfectly executed. I cannot wait to return.
