Hotel located in car free zone but hotel did not provide any guidance of where to park. Good service and lovely included breakfast in the courtyard. Hotel set up was confusing as there are three separate buildings. Not advised that our room would be a three story walk up. Room had one air conditioning unit but notwithstanding the extreme heat the hotel did not turn on the ac. For the cost it was not acceptable that it took 12 hours for the room finally to cool off.

Very charming boutique hotel,with a nice restaurant,a fine dining place..Rooms were spacious and the bed and pillows really comfortable.Breakfast was good,with some good and fresh local products,but it eas exactly the same options during our 3 days staying,so it became a bit boring,would be nice and a suggestion to change something everyday,jus the eggs could be changed but this is standard.The food in the restaurant was really good(local and more fancy dinner),with a nice wine list available.There was a shop that you can buy local products like olive oil (high quality ones),but the lady in the shop,despite I showed her a lot of interesting to learn about local good olive oil,she never offered by herself any tasting,she just gave me a single taste after I requested,so,we didn’t feel that good comparing with another stores around,so we didn’t buy anything from their shop.But all other hotel staff were very kind and professional,specially in the breakfast and restaurant.A small jacuzzi is available at the rooftop,but there’s no swimming pool.

We can not speak highly enough about our experience with the Avli fine dining restaurant, our two meals dinner and breakfast were sublime, with incredible food and wonderful waitstaff. If only the Avli Lounge Suites offered the same elevated experience, the rooms are tired and need an update. We do applaud the hotel's arrangement with parking, that process was seamless.

Φανταστικό δωμάτιο, αψογη εξυπηρέτηση! Το πρωινό εξαιρετικό! Δίπλα στο ξενοδοχείο μπορείς να απολαύσεις λάτιν μουσική, παραδοσιακό φαγητό και καφε-γλυκο. Επίσης πολύ κοντά υπάρχει πάρκινγκ. Σίγουρα θα ξαναπάμε!

Our room (called the White room) at Avli was enormous and uniquely beautiful, and the bathroom was terrific. Very well appointed, i cant say enough about the room. And right up the stairs there is a beautiful rooftop area with a small pool (id call it more of a hot tub) and a covered area with a couch and a lovely view. The location was terrific, everything was right outside the door. Breakfast was fantastic and in a magical outdoor courtyard. It was kind of noisy until quite late (2am) as people sat outside at the restaurant downstairs. But we still loved our stay.

The Avli Lounge apartments are beautiful! We stayed in the Candy Suite for about four days. As mentioned in several reviews, location is excellent, and we were able to walk everywhere. Both Stelios' and Nickos were always available and helpful for everything. Do note that there is no elevator as the hotel is in Old Town and they preserve the structures. That also means you have cobblestone streets which still require effort for even the smoothest luggage. The suite we were in was on the 3rd floor and I overpacked as usual. The guys were wonderful in assisting us up with all our stuff. Would love to revisit Crete and stay at the Avli again!

Tolles Hotel mit nur 4 Zimmern - wir hatten das grosse sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete "blaue" Zimmer. Auf dem Dach mit dem Whirlpool hat man eine schöne Aussicht auf die Stadt und auch das Restaurant ist SEHR empfehlenswert

Excellente situation facile d'acces, tres grande qualite des repas dans les restaurants de la même enseigne. Personnel devoue, aimable et bon communicant. L'entretien de certains equipements de la chambre semble ne plus etre prioritaire.

The property is extremely beautiful, the staff will go out of their way to accommodate you, and it was very comfortable. The location is very convenient, but you will hear people late at night still out partying. That does not bother me at all. My only gripe was that the shower would run out of hot water before you were done, and we don’t take long showers. But, other than that, everything was perfect.

A beautiful property. The room was well maintained, clean, spacious. The amenities were great and thoughtful. The staff were friendly and really gracious and helpful. It was a lovely experience.

Avli was absolutely stunning. Amazing room, beautiful terrace overlooking shopping/dining. Staff were wonderful, the breakfast was a feast! We did eat in the hotel restaurant for dinner, it was amazing as well. Highly recommended! We will be back!

Stayed in the junior suite with jacuzzi bath. Beautiful room. All staff in hotel and restaurant where we were served a great breakfast are friendly and helpful. Location is perfect, near the fountain and harbour. Keep looking around as everywhere throughout the building is a feast for the eyes. Highly recommend

My girlfriend and I stayed three nights at Avli in late October of 2023. I can’t say enough good things about our experience! Our suite was beautiful and spacious with a wonderful private terrace which overlooked the charming cobblestone streets of Rethymno. There are two restaurants just below our suite (Avli and Raki Baraki) which offer some of the best food in a town known for its cuisine. Every single staff member, from the concierge to the restaurant servers, was extremely friendly and helpful. If we ever have the opportunity to visit Rethymno in the future, we will definitely make this our home base!

Highly recommend this hotel!!! The rooms are individually decorated and beautiful. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and they were among the best meals of our whole vacation! Service was also excellent!
Highly recommend this hotel!!! The rooms are individually decorated and beautiful. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and they were among the best meals of our whole vacation! Service was also excellent!

Tolles Hotel mit nur 4 Zimmern - wir hatten das grosse sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete "blaue" Zimmer. Auf dem Dach mit dem Whirlpool hat man eine schöne Aussicht auf die Stadt und auch das Restaurant ist SEHR empfehlenswert

Stayed in the junior suite with jacuzzi bath. Beautiful room. All staff in hotel and restaurant where we were served a great breakfast are friendly and helpful. Unique and magical place. The set up in old town is beautiful. The apartments are very comfortable and charmingly decorated. Great breakfast. Diner at Avli restaurant was quite an experience. Service is top notch everywhere in the hotel. Highly recommended!

We loved Avli Lounge! The hosts were so helpful and kind and the breakfast was extraordinary. We ate by ourselves in a sun-filled courtyard with blooming orange trees and flowers and the food was delicious and very generous. The room was extremely comfortable. We would definitely come back!

The Avli Lounge apartments are beautiful! We stayed in the Candy Suite for about four days. As mentioned in several reviews, location is excellent, and we were able to walk everywhere. Both Stelios' and Nickos were always available and helpful for everything. Do note that there is no elevator as the hotel is in Old Town and they preserve the structures. That also means you have cobblestone streets which still require effort for even the smoothest luggage. The suite we were in was on the 3rd floor and I overpacked as usual. The guys were wonderful in assisting us up with all our stuff. Would love to revisit Crete and stay at the Avli again!

Hotel located in car free zone but hotel did not provide any guidance of where to park. Good service and lovely included breakfast in the courtyard. Hotel set up was confusing as there are three separate buildings. Not advised that our room would be a three story walk up. Room had one air conditioning unit but notwithstanding the extreme heat the hotel did not turn on the ac. For the cost it was not acceptable that it took 12 hours for the room finally to cool off.

My husband and I loved this hotel’s ambiance in its decor, location, restaurant and especially its gorgeous courtyard restaurant. They offered a complimentary breakfast that was absolutely amazingly delicious, unique and plentiful. I would definitely go back just for their breakfast! Unfortunately we were there for only one night but due to the hotel’s location and their willingness to hold our luggage for a few hours, we were able to visit some of the main sights & local shops of Rhethymno. The hotel was difficult to find especially if you arrive at night as it is in the midst of many busy restaurants & shops. Look for street level Avli & Raki Ba Raki signs on the buildings. The Avli hotel reception entrance is next to the Raki Ba Raki restaurant. The room we stayed in was above and close to the noisy restaurants so I would recommend you request a quieter room if necessary. Other than that I would highly recommend this hotel.

Φανταστικό δωμάτιο, αψογη εξυπηρέτηση! Το πρωινό εξαιρετικό! Δίπλα στο ξενοδοχείο μπορείς να απολαύσεις λάτιν μουσική, παραδοσιακό φαγητό και καφε-γλυκο. Επίσης πολύ κοντά υπάρχει πάρκινγκ. Σίγουρα θα ξαναπάμε!

Our room (called the White room) at Avli was enormous and uniquely beautiful, and the bathroom was terrific. Very well appointed, i cant say enough about the room. And right up the stairs there is a beautiful rooftop area with a small pool (id call it more of a hot tub) and a covered area with a couch and a lovely view. The location was terrific, everything was right outside the door. Breakfast was fantastic and in a magical outdoor courtyard. It was kind of noisy until quite late (2am) as people sat outside at the restaurant downstairs. But we still loved our stay.

Very charming boutique hotel,with a nice restaurant,a fine dining place..Rooms were spacious and the bed and pillows really comfortable.Breakfast was good,with some good and fresh local products,but it eas exactly the same options during our 3 days staying,so it became a bit boring,would be nice and a suggestion to change something everyday,jus the eggs could be changed but this is standard.The food in the restaurant was really good(local and more fancy dinner),with a nice wine list available.There was a shop that you can buy local products like olive oil (high quality ones),but the lady in the shop,despite I showed her a lot of interesting to learn about local good olive oil,she never offered by herself any tasting,she just gave me a single taste after I requested,so,we didn’t feel that good comparing with another stores around,so we didn’t buy anything from their shop.But all other hotel staff were very kind and professional,specially in the breakfast and restaurant.A small jacuzzi is available at the rooftop,but there’s no swimming pool.

We can not speak highly enough about our experience with the Avli fine dining restaurant, our two meals dinner and breakfast were sublime, with incredible food and wonderful waitstaff. If only the Avli Lounge Suites offered the same elevated experience, the rooms are tired and need an update. We do applaud the hotel's arrangement with parking, that process was seamless.

This is our third visit to the Alvi Hotel. It is one of the best accommodation in the area, the rooms are amazing and so is the rooftop jacuzzi. The location is perfect for the old town and their breakfast is the best I've ever had in all the travelling we have done. the restaurantis also good with the most beautiful setting.

Great big suite right in old town. Bad stuff; Two things to be aware of … our shower was in the bath which is a jakuzi with a huge edge that was really tricky to clamber over to get in and out. Second, parking is round the corner, you have to bring your cases to the hotel on foot, (not so easy) and parking is expensive, €30 per 24hrs, discounted to €22 for Avli guests. Good stuff; the staff are fabulous, all of them. The hotel fine dining restaurant is very good indeed, we ate here twice in 3 nights in Rethymno. Stelios and colleagues are impressively knowledgeable on Cretan wines and food pairing. £150 for two for 3 courses each, 3 glasses of wine each and coffee. Things to do; the fortress is a must (€5, suggest trainers too), drive out to Akardi Monastery. We think we will return with friends.
