Das Zimmer war top und die Lage auch, sehr sauber und hatte alles was man braucht. Parken war nicht toll, da teilweise sehr eng. Es gibt Parkplätze da kann man gar nicht parken, man kommt weder rein und gar nicht mehr raus. Von großen Bussen wird dann noch die Zufahrt erschwert. Bis hin dass diese dann 15 Minuten den Motor laufen lassen, direkt unter den Fenstern der Gäste. Das geht gar nicht. Restaurant war etwas ungemütlich. Ansonsten große Anlage, viele junge Leute.

This resort is mostly a backpacker and with some deluxe rooms. The room was nice however the fridge is only a chill fridge and no freezer so when travelling and a kitchenette is advertised one expects a decent fridge. The rooms are not serviced until about 4-5 pm which is too late and the first service was very poor. Rubbish was left, no new milk and bed not made The amenities list a spa except that it is always full of backpackers and is a loud and unpleasant environment. Would not recommend as a deluxe accommodation For $600 per night and advertised as luxurious this property is very overpriced.

Cool setting in a rainforest with a cute little trail connecting the cottages to reception. Hot tub jets didn’t work. Extra towels for hot tub would have been nice. Bed was getting soft. Rooms were lovely and quiet. Close enough to walk into town.

There are no proper signages to find cottages as they are hidden behind trees which is what the appeal is but at the same time it is difficult to find them for someone who is visiting first time especially if reach after dark or on a rainy day which is what happened with us. Took us more than 30 minutes to find the cottage. We were in a single room cottage that has very small bathroom with a sink which is probably smaller than an aircraft sink. No service is available so one has to be prepared for doing everything on their own.

Very good Hostel. Stayed in a 4 person downstairs room. My only complaints are that the floors are a bit thin and people stomping around above me were noisy and secondly they close the hot tub at 8 pm, which seems a bit early. Otherwise this place is amazing. Great grounds and location

Location and unit size. We had a unit for somebody with a disability so configuration was a bit different. That didn't bother us but toilet had leaking sound, tv control needed new batteries, and sheets while I think clean had what looked like blood spots on sheet and pillow cases. Also a cleaner accessed our room when we weren't there - changed cutlery and emptied bins, but bed unmade and towels not replaced. There were not instructions that this would take place, and unmade bed not made (if something was on it) and towels not replaced (if not on the ground). We didn't know this. Also door very hard to lock. Service - only place we have stayed in New Zealand where reception staff were gruff

Loved the setting. It felt remote yet we were close to everything we needed. Restaurants and shops were walkable. The room was clean and comfortable. Our shower was open to our bathroom and left the whole floor wet when we used it. It seemed to be an accessible shower. Was not ideal for us. Otherwise the stay was pleasant.

Aged units and appliances. Room smelled due to humidity and wood in the unit. No screens on windows and heat was too high so we had to open the windows to cool the room down which let bugs in. No freezer.

Our room had everything we needed - beds, small kitchenette and decent shower. The laundry facilities that accepted credit card were a huge bonus. The only problem was the noise - you can hear everything around you. Yes it was a busy period… but worth calling it out. Otherwise, good value for money in Franz.

Modern, large, clean room with excellent facilities. A bit disappointed as we expected a view of the forest but it's just in a cul-de-sac with the other huts/lodges. Wouldn't sit outside as the other units look down on you (through some trees). Even though the rooms are excellent I think it's expensive for what you get - but perhaps that's just the area.

We absolutely loved our tree house and our stay. It’s a beautiful location and the room was fabulous. Very little detail was incredible. Heated floors and towel rack in the bathroom. The shower! The view of the mountains. The hot tub on the deck. The beds were so comfortable. Fabulous place all around.

We had the pleasure of staying in the Rainforest Deluxe room, and I was truly impressed by how cozy and charming it was. The breathtaking mountain views and the serene forest surrounding the room made it feel like a peaceful escape. The room was thoughtfully equipped with everything I needed, including a small kitchen, which was a wonderful touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I especially loved the large glass doors that allowed me to savor the gentle rain while enjoying my coffee. The location is also ideal, with the main street just a couple of minutes away, making it easy to explore. To top it off, there’s a fantastic restaurant right next door that served some of the most delicious food I’ve had in a long time. This stay was truly special, and I’ll cherish the memories of it.

Nice themed hotel in Franz Josef. Room was huge with lots of walking space. Issue we had was there wasn’t any hooks or clothe rack for us to hang our clothes or jacket.

There were not instructions that this would take place, and unmade bed not made (if something was on it) and towels not replaced (if not on the ground). We didn't know this. Also door very hard to lock. Service - only place we have stayed in New Zealand where reception staff were gruff

Struggled to figure who to approach and how to check in. 2) Unit parking lot was occupied by other client's vehicle, who shared they were told by hotel staff to park at our lot where they did not park at their own. We loved our stay and the property was amazing. Sadly we weren’t able to have dinner after 7.30pm or have breakfast in the restaurant as there was a function on which was extremely loud and went on for hours to not the evening. We would have appreciated being told about these restrictions when booking or at least prior to our arrival.

This place was terrible. The hot tub was cracked and the jets hardly worked. Our toilet ran non-stop. We brought it to the staffs attention and we were told mnx would stop by. If it couldn’t be fixed they would move us. We returned and the front desk was closed for the night. The showers soaked the entire bathroom and there is no ventilation so the place stayed wet. The WiFi was intermittent. I would not recommend this place.

Stayed here for one night to visit the glacier. Check in was quick and easy, tree lodge was perfect for our stay, had everything we needed and we ate and drank in Monsoon, where the food was lovely!

The employees of the property were outstanding. Parry you're a gem. Helping out when my car wouldn't start. The property is clean and comfortable and close to all amenities. I would definitely recommend the Rainforest Retreat. Thank you guys.

Left a jacket behind accidentally upon check out. Reached out to the hotel via Expedia and also directly via email but there was no response at all. Reception closed at 6pm and basically self check in and zero attention to service provided.

We had the deluxe 2br suite with hot tub. It was a marvelous property in every way, except for one. The service attitude was not up to what it could be. Housekeeping maids were delightful, but the front office was stressed and inflexible. Rushed at checkin. 10 am checkout but no later. No time for that last sunny morning hike. Our first night we were ignored for so long in the on-site Monsoons restaurant that we finally left without even being acknowledged by the tall waitress who passed our table countless times. We have never seen anything like this anywhere in the world. Everything else was wonderful, from the linens to the furnishings to the landscaping.

Das Zimmer war top und die Lage auch, sehr sauber und hatte alles was man braucht. Parken war nicht toll, da teilweise sehr eng. Es gibt Parkplätze da kann man gar nicht parken, man kommt weder rein und gar nicht mehr raus. Von großen Bussen wird dann noch die Zufahrt erschwert. Bis hin dass diese dann 15 Minuten den Motor laufen lassen, direkt unter den Fenstern der Gäste. Das geht gar nicht. Restaurant war etwas ungemütlich. Ansonsten große Anlage, viele junge Leute.

Perfect for a trip to see the glacier. It was shrouded in cloud the first day, but because we stayed so close, we were able to go back the following morning for a perfect (and quiet!) view.

The view of the glacier through the rainforest was very good! The area was very quiet, well appointed with practical amenities and a very short walk into town. The property had a full range of lodging options from camping up to luxury hotel room but the layout and the foliage made it seem like you were almost by yourself in the woods.

We had a beautiful room with views out to the deck and forest. Fantastic setting. Lovely staff. Only marked down slightly on facilities because spa wasn’t working. Ate in Monsoon both nights which was good food reasonably priced

This place is stunning. The treehouse 2 BR cabin is amazing, with beautiful furnishings and everything you need. The hot tub on a cold spring night was a treat. Beautiful trees & foliage surround each cabin, so you feel like you're in a private, secluded spot.

We got an upgrade to one of the tree house which was fabulous! The room was spacious and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The hot tub in the balcony was an absolute treat! Would defo go back if we can!

The gardens were beautiful and the shower with its big rainfall head and hand held option in grey stone large area was fabulous. The upgrade to a brand new room was also appreciated. The shared kitchen is very well equipped , clean with nice crockery and has a good vibe with it being a friendly hub involving people from all around the world and of all ages gathered to prepare a variety of cuisines. The restaurant on site is also a plus. The hot tub and sauna were also a bonus. Its location is grand too.
