Hampton Inn Carbondale

This Hampton is undergoing renovations. Pool and spa were not available. Rooms were damp feeling. Entry to the hotel was difficult. Food was average. This is the first Hampton that we have been disappointed in. Would not stay here again.

Pool and hot tub were not working. The TV was ancient. The furniture in room was beat up. The pillows looked like toddler pillowes. The bed was old and uncomfortable. The staff that checkedbusnin were pleasant.

Pool and hot tub were being repaired, so not in use. In the eating area, there wasn't any waffle mix both mornings we stayed there. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The pool was broken. It was 105°. I would like a partial refund.

The evening we stayed here was move in weekend for SIU and we had moved our son into his apartment. We chose this location for its price and amenities. It was very unfortunate that management chose to shut down the pool and hot tub for routine maintenance this weekend and we could not enjoy the pool or the spa on the hottest day of the year. Seems a little suspect or just bad timing. I don’t believe I will stay here on any future visits.

Hot tub has been broken for 2 months.

Some of the amenities, which drove my decision to stay here, we’re not working. Fitness equipment and spa. Hallways were not air conditioned.

Like -- The Sunday morning 11/10 breakfast was excellent, staff were very courteous and helpful. Dislike - room was extremely dim, window shade was broken, and the indoor pool and "hot" tub had no heat and no "out of order sign" so as to be useless. Fix this or take it off the website as an amenity.

The key card system was not working upon arrival. They had to let us into our room by unlocking it. The doors at both ends of the hotel were standing wide open which is not safe. The room was not clean - one of the queen beds did not have sheets on it. It is a very very old hotel. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

The first room we were given smelled like a dog. We were moved to another room where the carpeting was tile squares - flat and uncomfortable. The bathtub was not flat and when taking a shower, it was hard to stand without almost falling over. The breakfast was weak. A lot of staff just standing around. The halls smelled like sewer. This hotel is definitely not up to the standards of a Hilton hotel. We checked out on April 29th and I have never received a receipt for my stay. I would never tell anyone to stay at that hotel.l

Room type reserved wasn’t available when checking in at 5:00 pm. Gave us different room type and said it would be cheaper but found after looking at receipt when getting him, rate was still the same. Breakfast was not the greatest. Several people in our group had issues with their rooms, not cleaned when they checked in, used adult diaper in room, etc.

Check in already knew it wasn't going to be a good stay, I was originally given a room on the 1st floor, and when I got here I was given a room on the 3rd floor and I am disabled. Room definitely had not been cleaned well, torn up paper all over the floor, tables and desk were not cleaned. Not going to even mention the bathroom that my wife had to spend 20mins cleaning before we could use it. I most likely will never ever patronize this place again, especially for $200 a night.

Trip started with the card reader not working so front desk had to walk all guests to rooms and unlock doors. They were not very friendly and I was told could use digital key with phone but they didn’t know how to set up. Finally got to room and floors were sticky and very dirty. I wiped the floor with a wash cloth and it was black! Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Saw bug walk across floor in bathroom. When we checked in the body wash in shower was empty and we asked for the room to be cleaned and filled while we were gone and it never was. This will be our last time staying at a Hampton Inn hotel.

The coffee supply was very limited, and very slow to make and refill dispensers. The carpet and rugs were covered in stains and debris throughout lobby, breakfast area, each level, along with elevator. Seemed like the cleanliness was bear minimum.

Disappointing. There was hair in the bathtub at check in. Staff behind front desk was not welcoming. Got the sense nobody wanted to be there.

The receptionist were super friendly and made great conversation. The room was big and spacious as well as comfortable. The beds are so nice, i fell right to sleep.

Need firmer beds

The room was very large and had a lot of comfortable seating choices. I couldn't believe how spacious the bathroom was either. Very clean. We had a quiet night.

Climate control very noisy. Breakfast quality was below average. Very noisy doors in the middle of the night. Back entry door had no lock in place.

the hotel was booked solid but majority was college students that were in town for some competition, so in the morning you could not even go downstairs and get anything so I just left to go elsewhere. And they were not bad in noise or anything but could hear them through the walls all night . But for their age and college they were respectful in all.

We stayed there last night. The room smelled like old socks, the bed was too soft, the pillows were awful and the shower had no power whatsoever. My husband stayed at a Hampton last weekend in Springfield, MO that was perfect in all these ways. Since we rarely go to Carbondale, we won't choose this again.

Very spacious room and comfortable but need to upgrade there tv’s

Great location near Walker's Bluff Casino. Room clean but door to bathroom was difficult to open. It was a barn door and the track did not seem to function properly. Told staff at the time of departure and assured me it would be fixed that day.

We were in Carbondale for the solar eclipse, so the hotel was very busy. The staff was still very friendly and the manager in particular was very enthusiastic about greeting each guest.

The staff was courteous.

They had issues with electronics and had you let people into their rooms. That was O.K. but I wish they would have asked for some ID before letting people into their rooms.

We waited a half hour for someone to Check us in and it seemed he was having a bad night. Hotel is very outdated. Woke up with sore back - bed and bathroom clean but the shower was nasty. Pool was a decent temp. Almost left but were so exhausted we stayed and made it work.

Honestly everything about the stay was great except for the overflow of children running around being undisciplined.Check in was easy and Amanda was wonderful,room was clean and perfect for an overnight stay🙏

To start off the front desk staff that checked me in had no personality. They were very cut and dry. I booked my reservation a year in advance and had called and requested my room to have a let out couch. When I asked was the room that he assigned had a let out couch he told me he didn’t know. There is no way you work to check people in that you don’t know what each room has or should be able to find out right away. He told me if the room doesn’t have a let out couch I should call the front desk and they will find me one. Of course the room didn’t have one and when I called the front desk new staff stated they couldn’t get me a room with a let out couch. After again explaining I made this request a year ago the new staff stated they could offer a roll away bed but it would take them 2 hours. It was 4:00pm when I was told this. After 2 hours I was told that they had to wash the covers for the roll away. At 7:00pm the roll away was brought to the room and we were told they were washing the sheets for it. It was 10:30pm before the sheets were delivered and that was because I called and asked for them. I was also charged an extra $35 a day for incidentals that no one bothered to explain. The policy was only explained once I questioned it after receiving the charge on my debit card. I didn’t receive the hospitality I should have received. My stay was from Thursday, May 8th -Sunday, May 11th. Which was over $600 dollars and never felt a friendly or generous reception.

Employees were nice, poor management because the hotel overbooked and they ran out of key cards for the rooms. The air condition made strange noises when coming on and off as if a door was opening and closing. No ice on the second or third floor in the ice machine. Other than that, it was an OK stay but it wasn’t worth what I paid. I was very disappointed.

I always stay here when i visit my daughter at SIU. Clean, friendly. Beds are comfortable. The pool and hot tub are well maintained. Overall, great hotel!

We have stayed at this Hampton over the past several years while visiting our daughter at SIU-C. We have ALWAYS had a pleasant experience-from the staff at the reception desk, upon arrival-to the morning breakfast staff who bring a smile to your face...and the housekeeping staff, too!!! Our daughter has graduated over the weekend, and her life is moving forward-so we will not be seeing these people again...We just want you all to know how great you are! Thank you all so very much!

Friendly staff, convenient location.

We found the facilities to be perfect for what we wanted, but I can see how the location would not be favorable for someone looking for a more active area. Every interaction with staff was favorable.

stayed one night to experience the eclipse. Liked the clean room, the hotels location and surrounding area. Did not like the astronomical room rate which totaled almost $500

Hotel was in a great location for my needs. Staff were friendly and hotel was clean. Breakfast was above average for a free meal. My only complaints were that is was loud at all hours. Due to time changes I often didn't go to sleep until after 1am, and it was loud even then. I was awoken one morning by the housekeeping staff greeting each other loudly outside my room. The shower was hard to regulate temperature - it was either too hot or too cool and there was quite a delay when making adjustments. The toilet also didn't flush consistently. Nothing major; just some annoying things when there for a week.

Breakfast was great

Definitely would not be staying there again. The complementary breakfast was awful. The waffle machine was broke, and they had no milk for the cereal. The Internet was terrible could not log onto our personal devices, and the TV was in and out the entire time. I would’ve expected considering the the price of the hotel. Very dissatisfied.

Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast was a bit disappointing. We went down with 2 hours to spare and there wasn't much left. Staff were walking around, but never refilled anything. We ended up eating somewhere else. The hot full breakfast was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Otherwise a great place to stay!!

We’ve stayed here a few times and the past couple of times the breakfast has been underwhelming. The waffle irons have been down and the options are very limited. We base our decision on where to stay with the free breakfast in mind. This could determine our next stay.

The staff was very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was amazing. The hot tub near the pool was cold, so we did not get to use it.

The bed was comfortable, there was a choice of pillows. The bathroom was clean. It did lack a hairdryer (which I reported to the front desk upon checkout. The breakfast was outstanding! I complimented the cook.
