Lovely hotel with a stunning dining/ bar area and well kept public areas. Car park is tight, but it’s Bristol city center so it’s just nice to have a car park! Room was huge but no matter what I did with the aircon remote, it refused to heat up. Breakfast was pretty poor. Most food was luke warm (beans and black pudding were cold) and toaster only produced very lightly toasted bread (but done just enough that putting it through again would burn it). I’d stay again but not have breakfast.

Parking stated £17 on app it was £19 A very tight car park but very handy in a city centre

Good location and nice hotel. Only downside was the bar seemed to close very early for a hotel bar

Great central location with parking next door in own little multi-storey car park. Car park tight for a large car and lift wasnt working so had to lug cases down and back up flights of stairs to the car. Check in was slow, apparently due to an unfamiliar new computer system. Hotels.com stated that parking was free/included. It isnt, its £19 per 24 hrs. Room tiny (compact double) and as I'd paid more than a friend who'd booked a standard double a couple of weeks earlier, which was much bigger, seemed poor vfm (about £160 per night, no breakfast). I'd booked 4 months ahead. No mattress protector on bed, just a sheet on mattress. There is air con and the room appeared adequately clean but bathroom was a little tired. Adequate facilities and more toiletries are available on request. Room was close to 2 sets of fire doors so there was banging of doors at night. Friends in different rooms experienced noise from other guests. Breakfast - additional £12.50 seemed good vfm and had a reasonable choice of cooked and continental options from the buffet. Front desk staff were a friendly young team.

Everything was great, parking is in a fairly tight car park right next door but the lift wasn’t working so had to carry our bags down the stairs which wasn’t ideal, other than that everything else was great

Location was great as was being able to park in the hotel car park next door. Hotel pool and gym are closed ‘due to Covid’ which was disappointing. Lift in hotel and car park broken. Room heating was poor.

Absolutely terrible hotel. I stayed for two days in a tiny room that was very very dated compared to the competition in the area. Positives of the room: There was a window that can open partially to allow some fresh air into the room. Negatives: 1. Carpet was dirty 2. Smells of mould in the room 3. Cobwebs in corner of bathrooms walls and floor 4. Mould in the grout of bathtub and sink 5. Flush did not work great on toilet 6. Extractor fan did not work so very humid in the room 7. The willows are awful and bed springs was digging into my back 8. No fridge 9. No wardrobe or any storage 10. The safety deposit box could be picked up and not secured to wall or anything. Hotel has no gym either which is surprising considering the size. Overall not a great stay and I definitely will not be coming back.

Perfectly clean room and bathroom. Staff were courteous and helpful. Peaceful stay in well insulated room. Nothing out of place or missing.

We liked that it was close to everything and the parking was also convenient. However, we were incredibly disappointed with the room(412). It wasn't clean (hairs in the bath, dirt on floor, stains on walls for example), the carpet was stained, the door handle to the toilet was broken and the shower fixture was wobbly. There was also a trolly of dirty towels left outside the lift which was still there hours after we arrived as well as an empty bottle of vodka down the stairwell. It was clear that there had been an attempt to update the room but it was far from the expectation we had from looking at the photos. Gaps around fixtures, rips in hotel guides/adverts showed a lack of attention to detail, the mirror in the bathroom looked to be deteriorating towards the bottom, and the bed was easily the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever had the misfortune to sleep on - could feel the springs and offered no support. We both slept very badly on top of the fact that the walls are made of paper and could hear the man next door on the phone as well as everyone passing the door along the heavily creaking floor. We appreciate that there is noise at a hotel but this was another level. We also messaged the front desk and asked for toothpaste - this took almost an hour to be delivered with no further updates from staff. It was supposed to be a trip to celebrate our anniversary, we paid almost £200 for one night. Sadly, the hotel, and particularly the room, completely missed the mark.

Had to wait over an hour for check in as room was not ready, when we finally got in, pillows were covered with makeup and carpet had obviously not been hovered. Bath had rust patches in it, air con light flashed all night, just like sleeping in a room with the car indicates on all night. Bed was had and may as well not have had any pillows

Tired and scruffy. Disgusting car park. Lift in car park broken and no lights on the stairs, rubbish everywhere. Room old and dirty

Hotel was welcoming, clean and had a fantastic vibe.

Check in was fast and friendly. Room was nice and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Cant comment on bar/restaurant as didnt visit it.

The hotel common areas are fine however the state of the bathrooms is terrible. There are no window coverings, smashed panes of glass, chrome areas are rusting and the bath should have been replaced 10 years ago. The parking is a good facility but be aware it is £19 per day. In summary, I would have expected a far better standard from this hotel chain.

Hotel was really good apart from the bathroom. The bath was extremely dirty and looked like the limescale had been there for some time.

The room was not cleaned properly, with stains on the walls and floor, shower was blocked up and you couldn’t shower without it flooding over.

We stayed in room 120, it was a typical warm Summers night necessitating aircon cooling, the aircon unit was very noisey keeping us awake, having turned aircon off because of that, we were kept awake by amorous activity in the next room - the walls are very thin!

Mostly good/excellent particularly reception and check-in. My room seemed a little tired and small for the money. Lock on the door did not work and one of the stanchions in the bathroom was very rusty . Aircon good and bed comfy, all in all for one night, good, any longer maybe room upgrade to be recommended

I stayed for a personal break. The room was nothing like the lobby entrance leads you to believe it will be. Nice modern bathroom yet the bedroom was confused. Older style with confused furnishings. The bed was awful. Spent the whole night trying to avoid being stabbed by springs. There is no information in the room to let you know anything about services available/restaurant info etc. Its up to you to work all this out for yourself. Staff were lovely. Did not choose to eat breakfast here as on arrival we looked at the displayed menu and it only offered and indian cuisine. When check in team member asked if we would like to add it i commented that it did not cater to our needs. Yhe response was that sure they offer a full english style, but then gave no further infor when asked about dietary requirements. Enjoyed my stay as much as could with lack of sleep. However would not return.

The location is brilliant, however the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows lacked plumpness. We also had no air con in our room Its was nice that we had soft drinks and water in the fridge, also we had session g gowns and slippers

Well located within walking distance of the central city. Clean, spacious and comfortable.

Not good, I’m afraid. Small room with a window looking directly into a brick wall. Really quite hard mattress. Air conditioning unit on the wall, but no way to turn it on or off. Free-standing electric radiator in lieu, which had to be left on all the time to heat the room; didn’t feel very eco-conscious. Uncomfortably small bathroom, kept knocking the toilet roll off the holder with my elbow by accident. No hand wash by the basin, so had to keep getting in the shower to use the body wash. No box of tissues (usually the sign of a 4 star hotel in my experience). Purposely chose a Mercure hotel as they tend to be good quality. Have mainly stayed in them on the continent, so perhaps it’s a UK thing.

The outside of the building is rather impressive and reception foyer is nicely done, the staff were friendly. The room itself while clean was very basic, small and dark. The room got really cold but the heater didn't work properly. The TV wouldn't connect to the Internet so we couldn't get Netflix, onlt a very few terrestrial channels. I thought the bed was comfy and slept well but my partner didnt. The bathroom was nice and bright with a big window, but it was dated. The bath wasnt white, more of a stained yellow in places. We had put the car in the multistorey carpark, while it was safe and secure it was incredibly tight driving in our little focus - it was actually stressful. We were also charged £19 for it. We didn't have breakfast. It was an ok stay, i wouldn't go back.

Room very dark even after the bulkhead bulb was replaced. Also the coffee machine wasn’t plugged in and the socket was behind the cupboard so I couldn’t reach it. I’ve had softer beds.

The cheeriness and friendliness of the hotel's emails was not backed up by the rather dismissive way we were treated when we arrived. The guy hardly even made eye contact with me.

Could be a lovely hotel, but our room had no working air con and as a result was difficult to sleep in. Reported issue but staff were not supportive and actually despite complaining several times, the member of staff we initially complained to denied later he knew of the issue. All weekend lift had an error and said was in evac mode or maintenance mode and kept saying it was on floors that did not exist. I’m sure it was probably safe, but a note from management saying they were aware of the issue and were waiting for engineers to reset it wouldn’t have hurt and would have been re-assuring. But, other than reception staff, the staff in the restaurant and bar were lovely. As say could be/should be a lovely hotel, just needs better maintenance and both our original room, which did get changed for 2nd night, and first room were tired, and needed a bit of tlc.

We’ve stayed here many times and it has been great, but this time is was not good at all. After waiting for over 20 minutes to check in, we were greeted by an obviously bored and sullen receptionist. Having got to our room, it was like a sauna. We were exhausted and hot and spent 25 minutes trying to phone down to reception. I gave up and went downstairs to reception only to be told that the manager was ‘somewhere’ and couldn’t be contacted because he’d left his mobile phone behind. Nearly 30 mins later, the manager turned up and agreeably arranged for us to change room. Well, the aircon worked, but it was a smaller bed and smaller room. The receptionist was utterly miserable throughout our whole stay and I heard other guests complaining about him as well. I’m really not sure that we would go back.

Had to cancel my room as had a funeral to attend , got a email telling me I can’t have refund but can move my stay to future date … when after 3 days of trying to ring hotel to book a further stay, they said no .. also asking me to cancel room so they could re book out …. meaning double money on room which I refused to cancel

Spot on location, gorgeous bed and nice staff what more could you ask for, breakfast was nice too, somehow fitted my Ford ranger in the multi storey next door, will definitely use again.

Really great location. Easy walking distance from Temple Meads and to the Hippodrome Theatre. Shops, cafes and restaurants all close by. Clean, well decorated rooms.

Firstly the hotel is in the middle of the city and only a 15 minute walk from Bristol temple meads station which makes it perfectly situated. The hotel is in a gorgeous part of the city in the middle of old Bristol. The service was superb with book in really easy and friendly staff. Room was clean and I’d stay here again without a second thought.

Positives: an outstanding location in the old town, within walking distance of the station and with many great bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. (Try Full Court Press and Chez Marcel, which are right next door.) My standard double room was quiet, with much better soundproofing than many modern hotels, and with windows that opened and a fine view over Georgian rooftops and medieval spires. On the downside, the room was not well designed. The only hanging space was over the only table, where the tea and coffee things were. The bath lacked a plug and the shower curtain trailed in the water. And the room smelled stale.

The room was one of those modern eco bulb room and was like a dark cave it apparently was a four star but the room looked like a 3 star nothing special. Restaurant was all Indian food.

We really enjoyed our stay the service at check in was great very friendly. The room was great for what we wanted the only issue I would have is the duvet I think it had seen better days it felt more like a sheet than anything! Bed was really comfortable though. Breakfast was perfect it had everything that we needed, nothing was too much trouble for the staff

A little disappointed with our stay, the hotel isn't as grand as the name suggests! The room was Ok, but a little tired and no plug by the kettle and tea tray. Breakfast is probably one of the worst we've experienced, poor choice, cold coffee, toaster not switched on and staff just hanging around.

The hotel lobby is lovely and the bar. The lift was broken so a bit of a wait for the other one that was full up a few times. The breakfast wasn't very nice. The sausages were tasteless and weren't browned, the scrambled eggs didnt' taste like they were made fresh, the toaster burnt the bread on one side.

Breakfast was mediocre at best. Very bad value for money and ingredients were poor quality.

Overall ok but needs modernisation. The reception is lovely & gives a bit of a false narrative as when u get to the rooms, they are dated.Attempts gave been made in the bedroom but a shower curtain in a bath is not nice or hygienic. The carpet in the bathroom is grubby- definitely needs flooring. Staff were friendly & helpful & breakfast was ok- but not work £17.50 if you pay on the day. Location of hotel is great as central but is noisy.

Not overly impressed. The mattress and pillows were too firm, so not a great night’s sleep. Aircon didn’t work as hotel In middle of refitting. Not too bothered about that though, and I will guess that all will be up and running by the summer. Buffet breakfast was all cold. Only scrambled eggs on offer

Our. Stay was lovely. Room was good, with comfortable beds. Shower/bathroom lovely. A great choice of food for breakfast cereal fruit yogurt cold meats cooked English breakfast with a great choice, but a shame really as bacon, sausage etc was mostly cold or just warm. Good selection of bread and pastries. Hot drinks lovely and good selection of cold drinks. Second morning stay breakfast declined a cooked breakfast as not being hot day before. Decided to have granola with dried fruits. Also had Greek yogurt with berry compote, wihich was excellent breakfast. Lovely hot drinks prefect second day. My daughter had the cooked breakfast on our second morning and she did say the bacon,sausage, warmer than the day before. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly making our stay very enjoyable. Close to Christmas market, and big shopping mall. All within walking distance.
