Microtel Inn by Wyndham Athens

No elevator. No hair dryer. Card machine wasn’t working and had to pay with cash.

Stay was great. Had to switch rooms because no lights worked in first room. Car batteries and tires in grass in parking lot. Everything else was great.

The Window in our room fell completely out. I ask the attendant to come look at it in which he did. He tried putting the window back in and proceeded to tell me the reason it fell out was because the AC in our room was on and then proceeded to turn the thermostat up to 73 degrees and said that should fix it. As soon as the door shut as he left the window fell back out. I ask my wife to get him and when he returned I explained the lock mechanism was broken and that the window would need replaced or held in with tape. He did at this time change rooms for us but the the AC systems were awful and did not cool well. The floors sounded like a 200 year old house that creeked as you walked on them and the hot water was atrocious. Might as well took a cold shower the tubs by the way are way out dated. A lot of updating needs to happen to the location.

My 91 year old grandmother had to walk up stairs and down a hall way because this place does not accommodate disables fully… The halls were hot no air conditioning… The halls smelled like weed, marijuana, cannabis,

On our night 3 rooms would not open with the key cards one room had a beeping smoke alarm. Clerk did what he could but this stuff shouldn’t happen of our 4 motel nights in different cities this was the most expensive & worst experience. Also no elevator to 2 nd floor.

Upgrades to facility fantastic.

This is an OK place to stay if on a budget. Extremely limited services. NO ELEVATOR, floor felt like it was half inch plywood and sagged/creaked when you walked down the hallway. No closets, no dressers… Very limited shelf space to put anything. But overall, it was clean, affordable, and accomplished the goal of having a place to sleep.

Nothing fancy but the room was clean and comfortable. Parking lot was well lit. Breakfast was pathetic.

Immediately on entering there is this “Erie” feeling. A dimly lit lobby, exposed wiring and the floors creaked like a horror movie. There was an unexpected $75 deposit (smoking) that is not acknowledged anywhere except a piece of printed paper taped to the wall. The first room had a cigarette burn mark on the comforter and “mysterious” stains on the sheets. I didn’t know that someone else’s hair in the bed was included with the stay. There was also a leak under the sink in the bathroom. Staff were happy to provide another room where we were met with the smell of smoke, loose tobacco and a urine stain under the sheets. The stain went through the topper and the mattress itself. Upon leaving (5 mins later), I found that I had already been charged the full length of the stay. The clerk attempted to refund only one night not the two and the deposit that I was billed. I should have known better because there were no cars in the parking lot. No cars=no guests. I work as a registered nurse visiting the area. This experience completely eliminated this hotel from consideration in housing accommodations as a travel nurse new to this area.

The staff was very friendly. What I didn't like was the computer for guest would not let me connect to WiFi to use

The only thing we noticed is the hallway outside our room smelled strongly of urine. Also the bottom of the shower was really slippery(I slipped) but that would be solved with a non slip mat. Overall very convient location, it was clean in the room, and quiet.

Room was nasty: someone else's clothes in the floor by one of the beds, brownish colored spot on comforter, hair on the sheets, shower was wet but did not appear from being cleaned. No microwave, no mini-fridge. One light not working. Staff was not friendly and did not offer any changes...simply said sorry. Will never recommend anyone even considering this property.

Room was ok and looked clean. Lobby and hallways looked like they had not had their floors cleaned or vacuumed for weeks. It was not nice. It was an ok stay for one night.

The floors were dirty had to wipe my feet on a towel to get into bed, tub was dirty on the outside and floor, bed had what looked like mold on the side by the headboard, and killed two small bugs! But the moldy looking stuff on the bed made it hard to sleep! Towels looked dirty also! I will never stay there again!

Checkin was easy. Unfortunately that was the best it got. Room was dirty when we got there but had already been “cleaned”. Walls in the room were dirty. Floors were disgusting and obviously hadn’t been cleaned. Hot water was lukewarm at best, shower head sprayed water all over the wall. For the cost of the room I definitely expected better. Will never stay here again.

Easy check in. Clean and comfortable room.

Very sketchy folks at this place. Lobby and hallway were very smelly, like a skunk. Our room smelled musty and the floor was sticky. We would have left but we were too tired. There were only 2 small towels to dry off with and 3 horrible pillows on a king size bed. The sheets on the bed did look clean. The cost was over $160. Worst stay. Don’t waste your money.

The room had a weird odor that never went away and no fridge or microwave. The toilet seat was broken and barely attached. It was clean and easy parking. No one came to change out towels or clean during our 2 night stay. It was a busy weekend in Athens, next time I will pay a bit more for a better hotel, not worth the money!

The doors were so loud that any time anyone left or entered their rooms, the sound echoed down the halls. The bathroom floor was sticky, but otherwise everything was really clean and comfortable.

Shower here in really bad shape cracked and flaking. A lot of noise from outside as well. Sleeping area and furniture is ok no complaints.

There was no closet to hang clothes. Bathroom vanity was small. Only one chair to sit in. No hair dryer. No refrigerator.

Friendly staff comfy beds clean property

Someone had a dog in the room above us that barked all night long. Never was brought new towles or anything. We had to ask for everything. The room smelled horrible like they were trying to cover up someone. Lesson learned to never stay here again.

Nice stay, room was very modern & relaxing

Better than what I was expecting from a typical Microtel. Rooms were bigger and seem to have been recently renovated. If not, they've been very well-kept. Only slight is that apart from check-in, there was never anyone at the front desk.

Both my overall rand my service rating were based on one incident that REALLY bothered me. On morning of checkout, I received a phone survey asking if I was still at the hotel and, if so, gave me a list of times for me to indicate when we would be checking out. I selected 12 Noon for checkout, submitted my response went to sleep to rest for my drive. But at 11:08 I get a front desk agent knocking on the door, repeatedly, persistently, until I had to get up, get dressed and open the door. All for her to ask me if I was checking out and at what time! I was livid! I still am. What was the point? Does the front desk not have access to the info from the phone survey??? Can someone copy them on that spreadsheet? I only had a couple hours to get some solid sleep. Bags were packed so when my alarm went off at 11:40, we could be dressed and out the room in 15minutes or less. Why was there a need for your desk agent to wake me up and ask for information I had already provided you a couple hours earlier??? It threw off my sleep, threw off my plans, put me in a bad mood and I’ve had a headache all day since then. I’d already provided you with my checkout information. And if I’ve not gone past the checkout time, why are you knocking repeatedly on my door yelling “front desk”? It’s disruptive and rude and unnecessarily aggressive. Calling the room would have still woken us up unnecessarily, but at least I could’ve answered the phone while still in bed.

This hotel has gone downhill in the last 2 years. Our family has stayed here in the past several times a year because it' close to family. This time I arrived to check in and there was NO HOTEL EMPLOYEE ON tHE PROPErTY FOR 45-55 minutes? a blind customer came out of his room while I was waiting to check in and stumbled around trying to get to the front desk for help because his room phone wasn't working and he couldn't get anyone. He did not have a shower curtain, no remote and the phone wasn't working. Three men arrived and wanted to check in and waited 20-25 minutes because they had a reservation and had been working all day in the hot sun and decided to leave and find rooms elsewhere after waiting so long for someone to show up! Finally, the manager happened to pull up and I told her no one had been there for 45 -50 minutes. she acted surprised. I finally got to go into one room and there was mold all over the floor in the shower...had not been cleaned? the 2nd room smelled horrible. Finally, the 3rd room we tried was ok but the air conditioner was set on 62 and everything felt damp in the room the entire time we were there....the floor even had a damp film on it ... gross. Probably do not have any dehumidifiers in those old units. That was our LAST time staying there! It was a horrible experience. Thankfully we only slept & showered there because we were with family but I will never stay there again. Oh, and the missing employee had been at Chiptole eating?

When we arrived at 10:45pm, there was a sticky note at the front desk the person would return at 11:05. When he showed up at 11:12, no apologies for the wait. When our sink wouldn’t drain, we tried to tell the front desk person in the morning and nobody was there again. I had to leave a sticky not on their computer as they did asking for the repair.

Above and beyond staff services

The hotel clerk was hard to understand and was not friendly...its like he could care less if you were a guest or not. He sat at the lounge area and played on phone. He was young immature as far as i could tell. The sheets were dirty and bathroom corners nasty. The outside area sketchy and not secure. Coffee the next morning with tiny little cups ridiculous...the whole atmosphere not welcoming!

The hotel personnel are friendly, and accommodating, and show excellent customer service. The property is clean, well-lit, and in a safe. The rooms are clean, fresh, and spacious. This is my third stay at this location, and I have been quite satisfied with each stay. I will book here again.

We were greeted in the foyer with a strong smell of pot. Checkin was lengthy and put in a smoking room. We were moved but were told it "wasn\'t that bad." The breakfast area was empty snd when I inquired, she acted surprised we wanted anuthing. A few packs of muffins were provided. It is a poor location of Microtel.

It has been decades since I've stayed at a microtel. It definitely has changed, drastically. However, the employees at this location were very friendly, even when one of my guests became belligerent. I stayed two nights and I was dissatisfied that there was not coffee available except for in the mornings breakfast; neither was there a hot plate, or a hot pot, or a microwave available in the room. The hot water coming from the bathroom sink and bathtub faucets was slow to rise, however, once it became hot, it was hot. I love the microtel concept, however, it no longer appears to be for people on a budget.

Only one unsafe small roller chair to sit on. Initially two of the lights would not work.(bulb needed to be replaced), no place to hang clothes or store toiletries or hang towels or put luggage.only 2 towels issued initially. Towels too small. No level area for luggage cart and no break on the one cart available.first room offered could not be opened with card, so we were assigned a less convenient room further down the hall. Husband has limited mobility. Shower curtain in bathroom did not appear to be clean and had mildew on bottom. The tub was slippery and unsafe. The faucet in this particular bathroom(103) was installed too far back, so water would splash on top of basin and run down on the floor.Absolutely no space to put down toiletries, even your toothbrush(for two people). In bathroom not even one hook to hang your towel or clothes. The breakfast was very basic, there is not one chair or table for sitting. We took our coffee and muffins to the room, where there is also no place to sit, except on the bed and one roller chair. Bed pillows were too big and too hard. The bathroom door was out of line and was very hard to open and close.there were 0 amenities. AC was good and beds were comfortable. There was no guide for the tv available (I asked for one). I paid $320 for two nights which was far in excess of what it should have been for a motel of this poor quality. The outside looked fine. Having spent two nights there, we now understand why the place was largely empty.

Need improvement on breakfast

The property was OK. The actual hotel itself was disappointing. The rooms lacked any extra anything. No closet, No drawers, No extras like a hairdryer, soap, shampoo. We got 2 towels. There was no elevators so we had to drag suitcases upstairs which had no handrails. The young man that checks me in tried to charge me $50. I told him I was not aware of this and said OK and tried to give him my debit card. He said no we only take cash for that. I did not trust that. The continental breakfast was not good. I've stayed in a Microtel before which is why I booked this room. For a $150 I guess I just expected a lot more.
