We had a lovely stay and really appreciated the free upgrade for our anniversary — such a thoughtful surprise! The room was spacious and very comfortable. On-site parking was a plus, and the café in the lobby served excellent lattes. The small shop was also handy for essentials we forgot. Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially housekeeping, and we loved having a balcony. The lobby and public areas were very clean. However, the room’s furniture and walls were quite outdated and visibly scratched, which took away from the overall appearance. The balcony door was also very hard to open and close. Street noise was noticeable at night (even on the 5th floor), which made it hard to sleep with a baby. Soundproofing could be improved. The shower drain was clogged, and on the second day the room wasn’t serviced — we were offered a late service, but it wasn’t convenient with kids. Our upstairs neighbors were very loud at 3am, dragging chairs. Again, better soundproofing would help. We appreciated that kids under 4 eat free at breakfast — a kind gesture. The pool, however, was too cold for young children, despite being told it wouldn’t be in October. Parking was convenient but quite expensive. Overall, a comfortable and friendly stay with great service. With a few updates, it could be even better for families.

Excellent and very helpful staff. Valet parking was easy and worth the cost. Had a family of 6 stay in a 3rd floor suite and had plenty of space to store things and to sleep. Pool and hot tub were also great in the morning thanks to the early opening time. Would definitely stay here again. I’ve recommended this place to many people I know as it is one of my favourites.

The hotel staff was friendly and very accommodating. We were given an early check-in which was so great. We were able to get into our room early and then do some shopping before dinner which was very helpful. The grandkids loved the pool. They said it was nice and warm. We were also given a later check-out which was very helpful as well. Will definitely stay there again.

Perfect place to stay for our family trip to Vancouver. Great location and easy to get to various attractions. The staff was super friendly, the room was cleaned daily (yayyyy!) there is laundry onsite and a great restaurant. I knocked one start off for “facilities” because the pool was closed 5 days of our 7 day stay…a real bummer when there were a couple rainy days that kids would have really enjoyed it. Other than that…highly recommend this hotel.

Really liked the property. It was very clean in our room and when we arrived we found out the pool was out of order which sucked since we had originally booked this hotel for the pool. We ended up using another hotel for their pool which we were grateful for, especially with small kids

This was a great property for many reasons. The location is perfect for walking to various different tourist destinations, great shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The full kitchen makes it easy to make your own meals, and save many on fresh snacks and beverages utilizing the full fridge. There is a grocery store beside the hotel for extra convenience. The hotel is fantastic. The pool and hot tub was always clean, warm and fully stocked with fresh towels, with robes in the room wear to the pool. The fitness centre appeared to have everything you would need for a morning workout. The front desk is very quick to bring up any additional items you may need. The restaurant was fantastic with Michelin Star ratings. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We visited at the start of the Christmas season and the hotel was beautifully decorated, perfect for Christmas selfies or quick family shots. One thing to note is that the hotel is downtown and located close to a fire department so you will hear sirens from time to time. However we never woken up in the middle of the night from any noises. I would highly recommend this hotel for shopping trips, work trips, quick family vacations, really any visit.

Parking rates are higher than competitors next door. Doesn't have all the necessary kitchen staples to be self sufficient in their apartments. Jacuzzi not cleaned during after hours to be ready during operating hours.

The two bedroom suites are fantastic and the grocery store across the street is great. Plenty of good restaurants and shops you can walk to. My only complaint is that the entire pool area being tile floor is dangerous and I’ve seen several people slip. I wear sandals right up to the edge of the pool and spa or else I’d be falling too.

Great location! Lovely property, although the residences side is a bit older. Pool and gym a bit dated. Pool was also down for a few days I was there, alternate pool provided was bit of a walk. Parking on site expensive. Prime spot in downtown Vanouver right by Robson. Great staff and services. House keeping was great. Enjoyed my stay!

This hotel is in a great location. That said, it is confusing to get to the front of hotel if you're driving. The doormen were so helpful and friendly! The room itself was not clean, including the dishes, which is surprising for the price. Overall safe, quiet, friendly, comfortable beds and easy to get to our concert!

The room was dirty when we arrived. It smelled like fish and there were dirty dishes in the cupboard. When house keeping followed up they said they’d come back and deodorize the room when we went for our medical appt and they never returned. It was disgusted. Wall paper peeling off walls. We paid $700 for one night with parking and it absolutely was not worth it. I travelled with my baby and couldn’t let him on the floor or furniture knowing how filthy and smelly it was. We had to get a playpen to let him play on there when not holding him.

Stayed in 2 bedroom family suite. Everything we needed, impeccably clean, fantastic downtown location! Full ( but amazingly compact) kitchen with fridge, stovetop, dual oven/ microwave, toaster, full size coffee pot and espresso maker, dishwasher, and even had separate recycling/ trash/ mini compost bin (all emptied daily) under the sink! 2 story fantastic grocery and a wonderful wine shop around the corner. This room had the best balance of affordability and luxury for a family of 5 I have ever seen! Top notch , all the way!

My family of 5 stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel La Grande Residence suite in late July-Aug. we might be spoiled forever. The suite is spacious, like the size and layout of a 1BR apartment. We loved having a dining table w 4 chairs to eat, sit and relax. In addition, the sofa and chair ensure that everyone always has a seat. The kitchen with sizable fridge+freezer, and the microwave/oven lets us store, and reheat food. There’s even a stove with pots and pans, spatula if you want to cook. It’s a full kitchen with a large counter. There are multiple closets with ample storage space. The gym is a little bigger and with more equipment than most hotel gyms. The indoor pool is great you don’t have to worry about weather or sun screen. The hotel location is perfect for exploring Vancouver. It’s around the corner from Robson and 8 minute walk to train station. It’s walking distance to numerous touristy areas, and sites. We didn’t use a car the entire time. We look forward to staying here again in our next Vancouver visit. Thank you staff for the wonderful experience.
My family of 5 stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel La Grande Residence suite in late July-Aug. we might be spoiled forever. The suite is spacious, like the size and layout of a 1BR apartment. We loved having a dining table w 4 chairs to eat, sit and relax. In addition, the sofa and chair ensure that everyone always has a seat. The kitchen with sizable fridge+freezer, and the microwave/oven lets us store, and reheat food. There’s even a stove with pots and pans, spatula if you want to cook. It’s a full kitchen with a large counter. There are multiple closets with ample storage space. The gym is a little bigger and with more equipment than most hotel gyms. Loved the location and the fact that we had a large refrigerator and sitting area as well as two bathrooms. A microwave would have been more beneficial than an oven. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The fact that one of the bedrooms had no A/C vent was disappointing. That room remained very warm, even though we kept the drapes pulled. A good renovation may be due soon.

We stayed in 2-bedroom Sutton suite. The suite was clean and had everything we could possibly want. I requested extra blankets & pillows and extra coffee/tea and housekeeping delivered the in minutes. There’s a grocery store across the street and a wine shop next door, which was an extra convenience. The staff were super friendly and answered every question we had. We ate breakfast at Boulevard restaurant on our last morning there, which was delicious. The hotel itself is perfectly located: about halfway between Harbour and Granville Island, and is close to train stations and bus stops. I will definitely stay here again.

This property is in a good downtown location. We found the property condition clean and well maintained. Check in and out was a bit slow as the front desk staff is small and there is almost always a wait at the front desk. We stayed three nights and every night we were woken by passing sirens in the street, and this despite us staying on a high floor. It’s not really any fault of the hotel but it does reveal that the window glass is maybe not as thermal and sound protected as it could be.

Communication at front desk needs improvement! First, no detailed explanation of the amount withheld for our 3 night stay which was substantially higher than Expedia quote. Made me question our Expedia package. Second, a request to cancel overnight parking for the last 2 days of stay was made before we had even stayed a full first day was not acted on and resulted in an extra overnight charge of $55. Third, when checking out on final day, due to long lineups and need to get to airport, unable to speak with a live person to rectify their error. Unfortunately there is no ability to phone or email the front desk about these type of issues. Very frustrating.

Was incredibly disappointed in our room at The Sutton. Since the hotel is undergoing renovations, they're advertising their new updated rooms on Expedia (which is what I thought I had booked), but the room we were given was old and worn and looked completely different. Additionally, check-in took over 40 minutes with a line around the lobby.

Call out to Ryan at front desk who fixed a room problem rapidly with as little inconvenience to our British relatives and ourselves. Thanks Ryan. Stay was great - many dining options in area. Check In Arrived at 10 NOT expecting to be given a room as we knew that the check in time was 4pm. The reception staff were very hopeful that the room would be ready quickly and we would be phoned when it was. They said our room had been prioritised. So we went off for a walk. 1230 pm- no phone, no room. Room finally given at 330. Bags of rubbish were sitting in front of the room in the corridor! Considering that checkout was 12 noon, it is taking the room service an incredibly long time to do up the room. Room Very spacious but very dated. Wall paper peeling off in some areas. Cleanliness was average. Beds comfortable. Location Absolutely fantastic. Heart of downtown- next to Robson street. Summary Great potential. Let down by the housekeeping and the dated decor. Not value for money (I paid nearly £450 per night)!

When we checked in early we were fortunate to be accommodated. Also the lady at the front said are you here celebrating a birthday and going to a concert I said yes my wife’s birthday. She asked me to wait a minute and went in the back returned with amazing news telling me she asked her manager if she could upgrade us and excitingly we received a beautiful upgrade and our stay was amazing. I missed her name possibly it was Suzzie but I could easily be wrong.

The concierge staff plus Anil at the front desk, and Diego(the guy who took our luggage up were nice) but … they forced us to pay for a movie we did not watch. First they said we checked in at 3:30 am and when we showed proof that we were still in Calgary and couldn’t have been there watching a movie, the manager said maybe the night staff automatically checked us in. Then they said we had watched an earlier movie and stopped it, then came down to tell them to reverse the charge: again I told him we hadn’t had any conversation with anyone regarding a movie. The only time we were coming back to the hotel was around 1:am just to sleep. After those inconsistencies I assumed they would have realized they were making a mistake and not push that on us but it didn’t happen. We had a flight to catch so we had to pay and leave. DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT AND WON’T BE GOING BACK BECAUSE WE DON’T KNOW WHAT’S NEXT

This was a great property for many reasons. The location is perfect for walking to various different tourist destinations, great shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The full kitchen makes it easy to make your own meals, and save many on fresh snacks and beverages utilizing the full fridge. There is a grocery store beside the hotel for extra convenience. The hotel is fantastic. The pool and hot tub was always clean, warm and fully stocked with fresh towels, with robes in the room wear to the pool. The fitness centre appeared to have everything you would need for a morning workout. The front desk is very quick to bring up any additional items you may need. The restaurant was fantastic with Michelin Star ratings. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We visited at the start of the Christmas season and the hotel was beautifully decorated, perfect for Christmas selfies or quick family shots. One thing to note is that the hotel is downtown and located close to a fire department so you will hear sirens from time to time. However we never woken up in the middle of the night from any noises. I would highly recommend this hotel for shopping trips, work trips, quick family vacations, really any visit.

This is our favorite place to stay, when we are in town. This last trip, we weren’t informed that the restaurant and bar are closed for renovations. As I totally get that renos are necessary, we would’ve booked for when it was open. It’s one of our favorite things about the hotel. We will of course be back and will double check that all is open.

I enjoyed the property and the facilities. Service was great and the Breakfast at the Boulevard was bountiful. Almost anything was available within walking distance, but a cab or Uber were always seconds away. Room was great and the staff were super friendly.

We had a lovely stay and really appreciated the free upgrade for our anniversary — such a thoughtful surprise! The room was spacious and very comfortable. On-site parking was a plus, and the café in the lobby served excellent lattes. The small shop was also handy for essentials we forgot. Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially housekeeping, and we loved having a balcony. The lobby and public areas were very clean. However, the room’s furniture and walls were quite outdated and visibly scratched, which took away from the overall appearance. The balcony door was also very hard to open and close. Street noise was noticeable at night (even on the 5th floor), which made it hard to sleep with a baby. Soundproofing could be improved. The shower drain was clogged, and on the second day the room wasn’t serviced — we were offered a late service, but it wasn’t convenient with kids. Our upstairs neighbors were very loud at 3am, dragging chairs. Again, better soundproofing would help. We appreciated that kids under 4 eat free at breakfast — a kind gesture. The pool, however, was too cold for young children, despite being told it wouldn’t be in October. Parking was convenient but quite expensive. Overall, a comfortable and friendly stay with great service. With a few updates, it could be even better for families.

Close to Robson Street, IGA, good restaurants, Hop on Hop off bus stops outside. Great to have our own kitchen facilities especially for breakfast which is $38 per person if you eat at the hotel. Laundry facilities. Good hotel shop.

It was a terrible experience. The pool was so dirty. Our room wasn’t ready. We never got kids robes even tho asked twice. Room service was 30 mins late and cold and undercooked. The room heat would not turn off and even with windows open it was too hot for anyone to have covers. Noisy street with people yelling at each other and sirens. Pool was freezing the kids couldn’t swim in it. Hot tub was yellow. They gave us a free movie for inconveniences but then the tv remote wouldn’t work. It was so disappointing.

We were a multigenerational party of 5 going on a cruise. This a fantastic hotel for a precruise stay. Location is great with lots of dining options within walking distance. Staff was helpful with inquiries and the 2BD suite was perfect for our needs. Will definitely book here again when we return.

Staff were great. Rooms could use a bit of maintenance. They were worn and not everything worked but overall it was good.

There are pros and cons for this hotel. To date, we have stayed in both the grand residence two bedroom suite and the Sutton place, single rooms. The Sutton place definitely feels more modern and luxurious. Pros for both: the location. You are in walking distance to great shopping, great restaurants, Granville island, the waterfront (e.g., Canada Place), and the Skytrain. You really can’t beat the location. The onsite restaurant is excellent. Parking was always easy to find, although the spots are tight. I would not recommend a large car. If you have a large car, valet might be better than self parking. The beds are very comfortable. Most hotels give you a thin duvet-Sutton place has nice thick duvets. Central air and heating is a perk, so you don’t get the loud noise of heat/air turning on/off all night and waking you up. Pros for the two bedroom suite: it has a lot of space. Two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, a living room, a fully stocked kitchen, and a dining room are hard to find in downtown Vancouver. Cons of the two bedroom suite: it is dated, run down, and has small bathrooms. Minor things, like dirty grout in the bathroom, peeling wallpaper, a bit of mold in the bathroom, dirty and dented baseboards, a broken bedroom door handle, and dirty windows really show the age of this place. If you don’t care about space, the Sutton place has a large glass shower, which is just so much nicer than the small tub shower in the two bedroom grand residence. All in all, I’d stay at both again
