The property is vast but in disrepair, the stairs to not take you anywhere and you are forced to use the lifts, there is only one lift working for alot of rooms so the wait can be 10-15 mins if it stops at your floor. The rooms are tired and not well kept, the heating did not work when it snowed and we arrived to a few sheets left on the toilet roll. The rest if the hotel has holes i. The walls and random cables hanging down, we were woken up daily by the slamming of doors and the cleaner talking loudly on their phone outside the doors… no please do not disturb here. Overall if you are paying a premium like we did dont bother its not for you. This makes travel lodge seem 5 stars

First time in Edinburgh staying with friends and the Hotel was great. Staff were very attentive and friendly, always someone on the desks or around the Hotel to speak to regarding queries. Room was spotless and beds were very comfy, would recommend this Hotel to anyone planning to visit Edinburgh.

Horrified to find we were in a room with a carpet soak with raw sewage water, Despite having told reception on arrival of terrible smell in the room, the staff only investigated after a second complaint the morning after. They concluded there was a leak from the en-suite.

Unclean bathrooms, sewage smell from bathrooms, rooms not cleaned until 4.00pm. Cleaners use the toilet sink to wash mugs and spoons. Sinks are cleaned using a towel. Rooms not vacuumed properly. Shabby and extremely dirty.

Looks a bit rundown, needs painting and could be a wee bit cleaner. Scuff marks throughout the hotel and in room. We went out for the day and only got replaced towels and they flattened out the bead spread. Nothing was cleaned, our pillows were just as we left them and bathroom had hair all over the floor. I mentioned it at the front desk and was informed we HAD TO PUT OUT THE MAKE UP ROOM SIGN. That is different from the US. My husband has been to other Leonardo hotels and raved about them, he was disappointed in this one.

The property is a little run down now and lacks cleanliness across all areas. In terms of the room, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly and bedding and towels were marked. The first morning I found dried food on my plate and a coffee mug that had a stain around the rim from whoever last drank from it. We had to check everything we used for cleanliness first which is poor. Food was very average. On a positive note the hotel staff were very polite throughout. For my first experience of this hotel chain, I would not,recommend or stay there again.

Firstly, still waiting for a response from Expedia. Booked a room for myself, my wife and 8 year old daughter. Hotel claimed I'd booked a double room and was left waiting for help from Expedia as the hotel were full. Hotel sorted it and waiting for Expedia response. Room still hadn't been serviced at 4pm. Window not soundproof yet tiny.. However, roo. Was decent size and clean, shame about the water pressure.

Stayed last year and liked it, so we chose it again this year. Breakfast is great and was included in our rate. Convenient for travel to/from the train station, airport or Old town. Our experience was better last year. This year, had some issues with the sofa bed, which was not comfortable at all. Gave feedback to the Deputy General Manager, who promised to investigate. Kris on the Reception desk was very helpful.

The hotel is very convenient for Murrayfield and Haymarket train station. We had a triple room which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The shower was great, too. We chose to have the buffet breakfast included in our stay. The food was tasty and really did set us up for the day. Would definitely stay again when visiting Edinburgh.

As we arrived early, our case was kept safe until our room was ready, and we went out for the afternoon. Checking in to the hotel later, we entered our room to find the netting had dirty marks on them and there was a dirty mark on the pillow case. The pillowcase was changed but there were no replacement nets. A different room was offered, but we were tired by this point so declined. There was a fridge in the room which was handy, and the bed was fairly comfortable. The TV had freeview channels, but disappointingly wasn't a smart TV so we weren't able to watch a film after a busy day - I would have expected a modern smart TV for the price. On the last night, and the following morning, the air-conditioning was not working, which was disappointing as when I rang reception, I was told it would be dealt with but it wasn't. The breakfast was satisfactory with some lovely pastries. I would have expected a better experience for the price, so I won't visit again.

1st impressions - it's a big busy hotel. The reception was not very welcoming when we entered.Didnt like the room decor. Didnt like the bathroom. Needed to manipulate air conditioning through the night. Toilet door was very noisy and you can hear other guests closing opening doors as its very loud. Not much quality sleep during our stay. Housekeeping was excellent. The staff are really good and very helpful! Always provided with xlean towels and room freshened every day after we left. It was very noisy the 1st night - staff responded to our complaints and ironed out issues. Beds are very comfortable. Fish n chips were excellent at the hotel restaurant! All in all its a good hotel and staff make an effort to make you comfortable! Had to pay an extra £10 as we needed late checkout. Nearby Black sheep cafe was nice, tram link near Haymarket station was easy to use.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket for two nights on our honeymoon, and we loved it! The parking was easy and convenient, as was the location of the hotel itself (right near lots of dining options, pharmacies, and walking distance from a lot of attractions). When we were checking in, we mentioned to the staff at the front desk that we were on our honeymoon, and they upgraded us to an executive suite, and gave us complimentary breakfast and two complimentary drinks at the bar! We did end up having a bit of a medical emergency while we were staying here, and the staff at the front desk were helpful in recommending a hospital we should go to, and in calling us a cab to get there. All in all, it was a great stay in a great location, with super friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend!

I liked the Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket. I thought the location was good for a first time visitor who likes to wander the city to see both the main attraction and where people live. The hotel itself was great, the staff were amazing, and I felt quite at home during my stay.

Quick and efficient check in but our entire experience was spoiled by the fact that the room had no hot water. Unable to shower prior to our evening meal. Despite the assurance of both maintenance and reception staff that the boiler had been fixed we received no more than 1 hour of lukewarm water all evening before it became cold again. No hot water in the morning so mentioned it again to reception staff prior to our breakfast. Departed hotel to attend a family lunch not having been able to have a shower. As visitors to the Leonardo many times over many years it has left us wondering whether the standards are slipping and of alternative options in the future.
Quick and efficient check in but our entire experience was spoiled by the fact that the room had no hot water. Unable to shower prior to our evening meal. Despite the assurance of both maintenance and reception staff that the boiler had been fixed we received no more than 1 hour of lukewarm water all evening before it became cold again. No hot water in the morning so mentioned it again to reception staff prior to our breakfast. The hotel is really conveniently located close to Haymarket station and lots of cafes, shops and restaurants. Staff were really friendly, bath was comfy and bed was super comfy. Will definitely stay here again. Also offered a travel cot for our newborn baby. Thank you!

Very slow check in, was queuing out the door but once to room was happy. Breakfast bit of a shambles. The guy checking your room number had a poor grasp on the English language meaning customers repeating themselves. Breakfast wasnt the hottest, the room had no direction with people collecting their items from all angles, always seemed to be short of something. Also for a hotel in the capital of Scotland wheres the haggis, the black pudding? I would not book Breakfast again.

Horrible check-in experience. The check-in lady gave us keys to someone else’s room. I walk in to the that room to see 2 guys on the bed in compromising position and i ran out as fast as i could. I couldn’t believe what just happened. The people in the room immediately called front desk and i ran to the front desk as well. I cannot believe that even after all this, we never got any sort of compensation for our stay. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! They couldn’t even give us free breakfast as an apology. Worst customer service ever! And then the AC wasn’t working properly, but no one was there to help. Clearly zero helpers in the hotel. Would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone

A stones throw from Haymarket Station. A walkable distance from the centre of Edinburgh, nicely of the beaten track at the end of the day. Plenty of local bars, restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores in the immediate area.

The hotel looks okay from the outside in the pictures, butcwhat you don't see: the huge construction site directly across the street from the front doors of the hotel, which many of the rooms overlook, or the disgusting, dirty parking lot that the rest of the rooms overlook. Nor do the pictures show all of the graffiti that covers many of the buildings surrounding it, and the empty storefronts and garbage floating around. This is not where you want to stay if you want to walk around at night. There is nothing cute, nice, or fun close. You have to walk for blocks. The place is very dirty. It looks like it was decorated by the same person who decorates Chinese buffets in America-tacky murals everywhere! Giant sheep staring at you in the shower. The front desk staff was nice. The breakfast was okay, but one of the coffee machines was broken, and they were constantly out of cups or plates. I would say if you're comfortable staying in a Motel 6, you're ok with this.

First time staying at this hotel. Good location very near to Haymarket tram stop so very convenient for travel into city centre. Nice area with pubs and restaurants nearby. Good size bedroom and bathroom and both very clean.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Lovely reception staff, very comfortable and spacious room. Only slightly spoiled by the rather petty and intransigent attitude of a bartender with regard to our complimentary drink in recognition of my wife and I being regular visitors.

Breakfast was horrendous. At 9.15 it looked like the hot food was being shut down. Just about every tray was empty and was removed. No eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes. There were queues of people waiting for them to be replenished but no one seemed to care. After speaking to a team member she called a manager and slowly they started to put small portions of food out. Not exaggerating when I say it was the worst hotel breakfast experience I have ever had.

Clean room, bed comfortable but the bathroom was small and the toilet flush was broken. When using the shower, the water came out under the glass screen onto the floor. Could not control the air conditioning without contacting reception. We coukd hear other residents using their bathrooms constantly.Breakfast was included but the cooked breakfast was cold on both mornings. Staff did not regularly refill the eggs, bacon etc. Coffee was also luke warm. No draft beer at the bar as it had run out. Staff on reception were great. Staff in the restaurant were awful and most couldn't be bothered to speak or clear the tables.

The only complaint - and it’s probable because I’m American and not used to it - but the water pressure for the shower was … less than desirable. Just took a while for it to get up to a decent pressure to actually be useful. Other than that, I quite enjoyed the stay.

A nice hotel, nicely situated, but not without it's flaws. Rooms don't have soundproof windows so noise from the street and vehicles isn't the quietest. The king room i was in had a very firm mattress, with two indents at either side, shaped like W, implying heavy use, so as a solo traveller made getting comfy difficult. The room has seen better days, and is beginning to show signs of age in the decor. Breakfast was busy between 0830-0930. Food wasn't the greatest either - quality and care lacking. That being said, there was an ok amount of variety available. Staff could have been more helpful: At check-in i wasn't notified that the lift required your room key to operate (not difficult to work out, a heads up would have been nice), at dinner i was asked for my room number, the assumption being to charge to the room, but on exit i was asked to pay there and then, so some mild confusion. At breakfast, i was shown to a table, and then nothing. No 'this is how things work' etc - again not difficult to work out. And finally at check out, after paying for parking (£10 for 24 hours), i turned away from the desk to leave when a guest checking in told me i'd left my wallet there, in front of the receptionist - yet no word from her. So overall, a well placed and handy hotel, but lacks anything to write home about.
