The Beau Hotel Downtown San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

The bartender were the best part of this stay(don’t remember her name).. other than that room had no AC just one of those small portable ones. Rooms are small. Parking sucks. Don’t forget to physically check out or else you will be charged extra.

Property is unique with a bar/restaurant below. Room is small but they accommodate as best as they can. No elevator so be ready to take the stairs with your luggage. Coffee and water are in each floor in a common area.

GREAT hotel! Loved the mix of old world charm with modern finishes. I also love the coffee station and the garden area. NOTE: the hotel does NOT have an elevator and it has quite a few stairs. Lastly, not a huge deal but what's with no clocks in the room? Guess it's a new trend.

Everything was excellent, it would be the ideal place if they had parking or an agreement with nearby parking lots.

overall, a nice stay. decor very spot on in keeping classic feel. Beautiful bar. Staffed with ABSOLUTELY lovely people! Only non-positives; no elevator, no fridge, portable AC unit.

The people were extremely nice; however, the parking situation was confusing and frustrating to figure out how to use the discount code for the garage. Also, I may have missed this, but the rooms are very small.

The hotel is a very recent renovation and they did an amazing job with preserving the heritage of the building while modernizing it. Rooms are small, but clean and sharp. Staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant on site is also really good! All in all we were very happy with it! There are a couple things to consider though. Our room had a portable A/C with a hose to the window. It worked fine but was very loud. And because the steet is loud we had to run it through the night (also to keep temperatures reasonable). Second the downtown of San Diego is a bit hurting. Lots of transience, and dirty/smelly streets. But that’s not the hotels fault. Also - no elevator. So that might be hard for some. Parking in DT S/D is outrageously expensive too. I would stay there again, but would request a room at the back away from the street.

The room was nice but smaller than the picture. We loved the bar being downstairs and the staff was very friendly. I’d say that it’s in the heart of San Diego so definitely keep a close eye where you’re going but still very nice. Also, I’d recommend the hotels parking. The ACE across the street is not gated like the hotels parking is.

It was our 4th visit to San Diego and found this boutique hotel last minute on Hotels.com It was overall a great experience. Friendly staff, cute boutique hotel with a nice speak easy feel restaurant in the hotel lobby. Very clean room, free Starbucks coffee and Teas close to rooms in halls with a classic San Diego feel. Breakfast from the hotel restaurant was delicious. Highly recommend trying a stay here.

Property was very clean and it smelled clean too.

First off I get the room dirty and in need of a replacement AC unit, when I ran out of towels I asked the front desk to get me some more. The lady said for me to leave my dirty towels outside the room and room service would replace them. I return to my room late at night to 0 towels … I had to go down stairs again to get towels…. There was 0 cabinet or drawer space much less counter space to put anything on the sink or tuck away in a drawer it was just not what I expected.

Excellent service. The room was very small, with no working desk, but quite clean. Loved the outdoor patio for working and eating. Staff was amazing and friendly. Bathroom very clean and updated, with a good shower. Some stores in the neighborhood are a little seedy, but that seems outside of the hotel's control. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel room was not very clean . Hairs on the bed and bathroom floor. Dusty. Checking in was stressful. Took a long time to get the code to check in

There was hair on the bathroom floor that wasn’t ours, the shampoo and conditioner were empty and the shower door didn’t close all the way. Dirty

My room on the 3rd floor had a terrible, foul odor coming through the AC unit. It was unbearable so if you stay check the room for odors before you stay in it with the air running. The WiFi is also insanely slow and unfit for business travel and anyone that needs to do video calls.

The room and bathroom were very small. The TV didn’t work. There is no elevator.

No elevator; stayed on third floor. Hotel has potential, has charm, but having a nightclub (Parq) one store next Door is a challenge for light sleepers.

About the only thing I'd complain about is that the bathrooms are at an angle and the A/C is kind of weak. Otherwise, it's a great location from the con center and the House of Blues.

Super cute newly remodeled hotel right in the heart of Gaslamp. All the staff was beyond friendly, and had free coffee in the morning. The WiFi did not work, which wasn’t a big deal as we barely spent any time in the room, and it was a weekend so didn’t have to work. The only downside is there is no fans, and no AC in the rooms. So the room was so stuffy and you can’t open the windows at night because it’s just simply too loud. Not somewhere we would stay during any other season besides winter.

Rooms are small but very clean and well kept. Bed was a little stiff for my liking, lots of different pillows from firm to soft. Walls are thin. Lots of noise. Overall a nice place and a pleasant stay overall

The staff at this property is wonderful. The restaurant in the facility is wonderful. However, the windows are too thin and the noise is incredible. There’s no air conditioning and they have floor air conditioners that you have to put in the window which means you hear all the outside noise and the loud air conditioner the water pressure is horrible and they have no bath mats on the floor. The pillows are subpar. I just felt for being a brand new boutique hotel. It should’ve been a lot better.

Room was great and bed comfortable. Staff was the best thing about this stay, so friendly and helpful always checking in.

While checking in it was difficult to understand the clerk. When we got to the room we saw that we had been given a double queen when we had booked and prepaid for the superior double king. We were told that there were none available and that we would have to contact Expedia for a refund for the difference. The hotel manager gave me his card with a phone number and email which he does not respond to. It has been seven days and still no response. The hotel is downtown and is located next door to a sex shop. It is so loud at night that the hotel provides you with ear plugs. The bathroom was so small you can barely turn around in it. When I tried to put my shampoo and body wash in the shower, the basket immediately fell off the shower wall. The room consisted of two queen size beds, one nightstand, a small, thin table with coffee cups and an ice bucket. There is no central air conditioning, so there is a portable air conditioner and it was so loud it kept waking us up. The parking garage is around the block and there’s no access directly to the hotel. The next morning we couldn’t get in to the parking garage. There was a group of people trying to get in and there was no attendant. I called the main office and they were unable to open the door for us remotely. They said they would try to get someone over to let us in. Thankfully a lady walking her dog came by and allowed us to enter the garage through a door in her hotel. We do not recommend this hotel.

Great small hotel. Nice bar and restaurant Rooms small but very comfortable. Newly redone with beautiful lobby and hallways.But the best of our stay were the very friendly and helpful hotel staff. A definite stay again!

really great service and very accommodating- changed my room upon my request and moved my bags. I also had to leave a day early for a family emergency and they refunded me which was really appreciated. Because of their service, I would come back.

Hotel is clean but they have hiden fees. After checking out and my receipt was email they charged me $100 for towels being dirty. I have stayed at so many hotels and this is the first time I have ever been charged for dirty towels. They should have a sign stating their will be charge for dirty towels. The staff is very customer friendly but the hiden fees wow. I would not recommend this hotel, because of the inconvenience of having to despute unauthorized charges after.

Booked a king bed room and got a 2 queen bed room. They call it an upgrade. Horrible experience!

I am in the industry and work for a 5 star resort in Tennessee, The beau hotel was exactly the type of service we provide. A staff the genuinely cares about you as a guest. The team all seem to enjoy working there and it shows! I was greeted by Valet/Bellman and he swiftly took my luggage to my room after I check in. The front desk staff escorted me to my room and explained all the amenities of the hotel, the bartender and restaurant staff, provided swift friendly service. I had such a nice time chatting with them. The manger greeted me and gave me a drink coupon for the bar and then gave me the perfect directions for a walk to Seaport Village and on my return made it a point to ask how my walk and experience was. Again, genuine service. My stay was short but so memorable. You also receive a 20% discount when you dine in the restaurant as a hotel guest.

The guy at the desk was very sarcastic and disrespectful. The tv wasn't set up so we couldn't watch tv until contacting the front desk. I used a blow dryer the night of checking in and blew the power. The water pressure was practically non existent in the shower. The next day i used the blow dryer again and bloew the power again. It was the blow dryer they supplied. I requested an extra card for the room and i am glad i did. 1 stopped working the next day. Had it replaced and then the other card stopped working about 5 hours later. Reported all our issues to the front desk. When i went to check out the next morning, the attendant was nice and polite enough to call my friend and I liars because nothing was documented from all our calls to the front desk. Never staying here again and not recommending it to anyone. Stay away... not worth all the hassle.

Charming historic hotel located only 1 block from House of Blues. 20 min walk to waterfront/convention center.

Perfect location in between the transit lines and the Gaslamp. Extremely friendly staff that was knowledgeable about local shopping and dining.

We had a great experience at The Beau. The room was great, staff friendly and helpful, and very walkable to Petco Park. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location for walking in the Gaslamp District

I stayed here for a few days due to work at the Convention Center. Location was great. 12 minutes walking distance. Safe. Very clean. Quiet. Everything was brand new. Highly recommended. Reasonable nightly rate. Definitely would stay again.

It was in a great location for Padres fans visiting from out of town to attend the games. Go Pads!

Beautiful hotel in a nice location.

An historic building in the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, recently renovated. The hotel is beautiful. Two things; there is not a passenger elevator, so if you cannot climb stairs.... In addition, the homeless population is large and is still a problem in the Gaslamp. While San Diego has tightened security and regularly power washes the sidewalks, posting warnings for their property removal, that is temporary and their presence is still not a clean one. It is more unsightly than unsafe, to be sure.

The hotel was clean and convenient to the Convention Center (the purpose of my visit was to attend Comic-Con), the staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and nice! The food at the restaurant was delicious! The rates were more than reasonable, especially considering that it was Comic-Con. The only things I could wish for that weren’t there would be a chair or two in the room and an elevator in the hotel. (My mobility is much reduced these days.) Just know that there is no elevator before making your reservation, and if you don’t absolutely NEED an elevator, book your stay here. You will enjoy it immensely!

Only complaint is website at the time did not state the lobby bar was being renovated and not open for guests. That was one of the main reasons I chose this place, so we could have a nightcap in our hotel if we wanted one. Otherwise, very nice staff!

Great place. The bar/restaurant downstairs wasn’t open and you have to walk up a flight to get to your room. Otherwise was great esp when other conference hotels were booked nearby.

The hotel does not stand out, it is a small boutique hotel amongst other buildings. When you walk in, it is exactly like the photos on the website. The front desk persons were super friendly with fast checkin and checkout. We received a $25 food credit to the restaurant on site which had a cute ambiance and the food is good. The hotel itself does not have an escalator or elevator as its a historic building, but someone does bring your luggage up and down for you. There is a luggage call button on each floor, and i watched the man effortlessly come up to the 3rd floor to help with luggage. Each floor has a coffee/tea room which was great. There is an outdoor patio you can sit in. The room itself has a minimalist vibe with only the necessities, bed, 2 nightstands, tv on wall, desk under tv, and some wall painting decor. There is a rolling luggage rack with about 5 hangars as well. The bathroom was decent size as well, the only thing i wish they had was towel hooks to hang wet towels and even that isnt a huge problem. The area around had restaurants everywhere and Petco Park is only a 10 minute walk and the San Diego airport is about a 15 minute drive. I would definitely come back and stay here, it was wonderful.
