Best Western the Inn at the Fairgrounds

Good day. When calling the property to arrange the airport shuttle (as advertised). I was informed that the shuttle was not available. To my fault I assumed it wasn't available due to the late hour of or check in. My family then requested a rideshare. Upon arrival to the hotel the disposition in which we were greeted was poor. I requested the business card of their GM Mr. Patel to state my dissatisfaction. I posed my question again for the morning airport shuttle. We were informed that the driver was on vacation and no shuttle will be provided. I was truly disappointed that staffing was not restructured in the absence of a team member. Would I stay or recommend this property ... sadly to say not. Sincerely, Lakeisha Beach

Pick e d this property because of free airport shuttle and lower price than others with shuttle. Arrived to be told you had to order shuttl er 24 hours ahead. I was there at 1 and my flight was at 1 pm the next day..so needed shuttle in 21 hrs..told NO EXCEPTIONS! Had to order an Uber. Never heard of this policy and travel alot..always order dhuttle. When check in

The hotel has really declined in maintenance over the last year. I have stayed there about 10 times over the year and im disappointed in the maintenance. The past 2 months the ice machine on the 2nd floor has been broken. The building has a musty smell and our room last night had huge water stains on the ceiling and cracks. Went to the breakfast at 9:15 that was suppose to go to 10:00 and all food gone and everything cleaned up. Really disappointed in the hotel that has a restaurant with raving reviews in it and i have dined it this restaurant and its excellent. The 2 definitely dont jive

Place was under major construction and they had no breakfast, coffee or ice machines. Would have been nice to know before we booked this hotel.

Fitness room (gym) was clearly not maintained and there just for the hotel to say it’s there on the website; it has an elliptical that was old and with a visibly broken handle, and a treadmill that is old and in disrepair, and dumbbells with rust. There wouldn’t be room for someone to use the dumbbells and someone else to use the elliptical at the same time. Front desk staff was either not there or not excited to interact with guests. I had to ask about the wireless access, and the check-in host referred me to the back of the keycard holder as if she had already told me. There was no cordial welcomes or thank you. Room beds were good and same with bathroom including the water pressure. The cupboard door that would cover the fridge was broken off and stored in the closet. The closet or room did NOT have a safe. We liked the breakfast (cereal and coffee and waffle maker and eggs and sausage and fruit). The hotel had CNN on the TV for the lobby and for the breakfast area. This is a biased media channel, and for the Best Western brand to have a biased “news” channel as their default channel in public spaces is a rather unintelligent business or management choice. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anything besides a quick overnight and free breakfast; they did not show welcome or appreciation to guests and chose an infamously biased TV channel for their public TV screens.

The hotel lobby, hall-ways, and room were all hot. It took a couple of hours to cool the room down to where we could sleep. The ice machine on our floor was broken. The Fitness Room smelled like a cat had been locked inside for days; I couldn’t go inside the room it was so bad. Glad I was warned by another guest. The breakfast was not much but got us on the road.

The equipment in the fitness center was in poor condition. The room we were in looked like it had flooded at one point. You could tell by the poor condition of the closet. I tripped over the lip of the front door when we got there. They wanted to charge me $30 for ‘early check in’ then were surprised that I said we’d wait bc I didn’t care about checking in early. That’s just when we got there. I won’t stay here again.

I had to go all the way around the back of the building lugging suitcases in the dark. Took two trips to front desk on different floor to get keys to work. When complained to front desk and suggested a discount since they had increased the price of the room $25 a night when I had to go from 3 nights to two, I was told no discount in sarcastic manner. When I said what about the breakfast as advertised, I was told it was free anyway you weren’t paying for it do no discount on room.

There is no actual hotel lounge. Its just a steak house connected to the hotel and it was supposed to be open but it wasnt. There was rarely anyone at the front desk. Breakfast was good. Bed was very comfortable. Ice machine was broken on second floor. Very close to Lakeview Amphitheater. Would stay again

The hotel was under renovations. The lobby was covered in mud, there were tools strewn about on the floor and now warning or signs. Guests had to step over the messy cardboard packaging from tiles navigate a construction zone while entering or exiting. Further, there was no breakfast offered or any accommodation in place of this - none of this was mentioned on Hotels.com prior to the booking. I’m sure it’ll look great when it’s done and the room was fine - except we did not get any housekeeping service for the two night stay. Rooms were fine and comfortable but dusty and dirty around the corners and crevices

We paid almost $500 USD for the room. When we entered it smelt old/smoke-ish. We breifly had my sister in law there who also noticed. The staff service was lovely but we booked the room for the jetted tub. When we went to use the tub, the one piece where water dispenses when the jets are on was COVERED in mold. We took pictures & let the desk know. All she said was "oh? Okay." She seemed nice but it was a lot of money on a room advertised for it's tub, which we couldn't use for safety hazard reasons and took pictures of to show front desk. Super unsafe. For $100 more we could have had a suite at the hilton. It was upsetting as we chose this suite instead for the tub.

My god where do I start?! So I recently stayed at this hotel and was absolutely horrified . There was black mold in the tub and the room was not cleaned properly. So after I get into my room I proceeded to the front desk to speak with management for a refund, as I already prepaid online prior to checking in.The manager stated that her name was “G” and that she would refund me in full after I presented all of the photos I took on my phone of my concerns but because I had no other arrangements for the night I had no choice but to stay there. Management also advised me that they were completely sold out so they couldn’t even change my room. I was also told to call the following day to confirm my refund.So I did and the manager “G” was incredibly rude and unprofessional. There was also chipping paint on the walls, The toilet paper holder was literally falling off the wall , The photo’s portrayed on the website were cleaned and intact . But To my surprise when I checked into my room it was absolutely disgusting. It was a terrible experience, and I can't believe how poorly they handled the situation. I will never return nor recommend this place to anyone who has even the slightest expectations.

I stayed at this Best Western during a busy Parents Weekend and paid a premium rate, but unfortunately, it was a really disappointing stay. I had to switch rooms multiple times due to cleanliness issues—including one room that had soiled sheets. The staff’s response to that was really unhelpful. Overall, not the experience I expected for the price.

While the lobby and breakfast area were; the rooms need a huge upgrade. The lighting was not very good. There was dust on the coffee maker in the closets and in various corners of the room. It just felt dingy. Not what I expected. The bed was good. The bathroom was upgraded but you can see a pink film forming at the seams of the tile b enclosure. It’s a shame. With a little more this could be a very nice stay. Also the soaps don’t smell good. Sorry

It was quiet but not clean and in disrepair in many aspects. Was okay for a clean bed for one night

No bodywash in the shower. When I asked they knew because they have been put for some time. I was advised in order to have the soap you must ask, then they bring a bar of soap. ?? Batjroom was also not very clean.

The room was spotless anf the staff was courteous.

Cleanliness was poor and the bathroom was clogged. We’ve mentioned it to them but they weren’t able to fix it because it was the weekend.

The exterior and lobby were great. Hallways not airconditioned. Room A/C was turned off upon my arrival. Room was hot and stuffy. Front desk upon arrival ..unfriendly Housekeeping not offered unless specifically requested daily. No amenities. Nastygram in bathroom about requesting clean towels.

The rooms were just ok Out dated

When we stayed for a concert in June, it was during a heat wave. We checked into the hotel before the concert and it was a good thing we did. They had the air completely off in the room so it felt like 90 degrees in there. We turned the air on max so by the time we got back from the concert it was comfortable enough to sleep. If we hadn't had check in first it would have been unbearable to sleep. I understand wanting to keep costs down, but they should have anticipated guests a little better. The staff at the front desk were kind of aloof.

First of all we were there on a very cold February night. There was no heat in the hallway; our room was absolutely freezing when we walked in because the heat not been on at all. It took nearly an hour to warm things up. I suppose non heated hallways was to save money, or perhaps the system was malfunctioning.I would also think the heater in the room was also left off to save money. The breakfast was the worst. The man replacing the items wore no gloves. I saw him handling the bagels (which were slightly defrosted) and muffins using his bare hands. He was also tending the front desk. Who knows what he had been touching!! The sausage was ice cold. I think he took the sausage out of the refrigerator and put them in the warmer which does not instantly heat things. SO, all in all this hotel was not good, and I think their main goal was to run it on the cheap, and care little about their guests. We picked this hotel because it was very close to the Fairgrounds, Do your self a favor, pick another place.

The bed was sagging badly in the center, was very firm, and made a loud noise when you sat on it. The lamp shades had stains all over them, and the bathroom had issues— the towel hook on the back of the door was barely attached and hanging, and the marble for the bathroom sink, leaving the particleboard with paint splotches fully exposed. When we brought our concerns to the front desk to request a different room, the woman at the front desk was very hostile and rude. We expected more from a hotel that we charges $299/night. The unfinished bathroom aside— Based on customer service alone, I would not recommend this hotel.

It really could have been a better stay. Although the room was clean, it was a very dated room. The room in the photos at the time of booking was not the room I reserved. The photo had a his and hers sink in the bathroom. The room I got was a one sink bathroom. The jetted tub was nice but was dated and had some chipping and looks like rust is starting. The mini fridge also had cracks in the base, not a very good presentation. The pillows on the bed were very warn out and small. I did try to ask for bigger pillows but was told they are all the same size. The mattress we had needed to be replaced. It was sunken in the middle to a point that when lying down on the side it felt Iwas lying on a steep hill. It really dampered the stay. I challenge management to try to use that mattress for a night to see if it is worthy of a suite. The breakfast lay out was very good with lots of options both hot and cold, and the presentation was clean. Its too bad that there was not that much pride put into the actual room.

The hotel was super clean and easy to get to. The only downside was that I wish they had better mattresses

The wall heater was noisy, and in order to keep the room warm, I had to set the temp setting on it to 78. I think that barely kept the room at 70 degrees. If that. The hot water in the shower was quite variable, sometimes non existent, and other times it was too hot. And it varied throughout length of the shower. The hotel was not busy at all, so not sure why it was so variable.

My husband and I stayed here during an event in Syracuse. The room for 3 nights was over $1,000.00. We check in and find there was no longer a shuttle service we planned to use. The hotel room was okay. Outdated but spacious. Smelled of smoke, several light bulbs out and the tub faucet was broken. Very few amenities but the on site steakhouse was phenomenal and probably the only thing this hotel has going for it.

Is a little outdated.

The staff was very polite and accommodating. We also ate at Daniella's, and the food and staff were great as well.

The front desk clerk had attitude and was very rude, had to ring bell multiple times to get attention in middle of the day. First floor hallway and room smelled horrible. Luggage cart was very unsafe to use. Bathroom sink drained slowly, I used at night and it was still draining in morning.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Clean public areas and our room as well. Would definitely stay here again.

We very much enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. We really appreciated that a coffee maker and refrigerator was provided in room. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The younger girl at the desk was wonderful. The manager and other lady there have some scam ring going on there. I had book a room for 3 nights through Expedia. After 1 night there I went back to my room and the key wasn’t working. I went downstairs and they said I was suppose to have checked out. I said no and showed them my Expedia email. Which they bushed off and said they only had 1 room left and I panicked and paid for another two nights. What should have happened after I said is there something wrong with your system with my phone still showing the email oh let me call Expedia. Which is not what happened I had to call expedia and was told they needed to call them. They eventually did and told me I was right I did have the room booked for three nights. After being told I would get my refund my credit card company started flagging stuff. So I had to cancel my card and get a new one. The morning of check out they left a charge so that way I couldn’t leave until it was paid. Trying to get more money out of me. The girl that was there that morning was wonderful she told me that the computer said my room was booked for 3 nights and that she wasn’t sure why they made me buy 2 nights. She also said not sure why they are charging any extra fee. She fixed everything and I was able to leave without paying for that random fee. I was also not the only person getting scammed

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and amenities. Easy access to highway and Syracuse Fair grounds for events. Would recommend for travel.

Front desk employee not very friendly. I felt like I was bothering her. I couldn’t understand her. I probably would not stay here again.

The room was clean enough but the staff is indifferent and rude. Parking lot was never plowed. Walls must be paper-thin because we heard full conversations from the rooms we were between. There’s better places to stay in local area.

I walked to the amphitheater. About a 30 minute walk, 1 mile. Saved the headache of paying for parking and getting out of there!! Definitely would stay again!

We were attending the State fair, so it was an easy walk to the fairgrounds. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

I picked this as it's a mile from the NYS Fairgrounds where there is the NYS bluesfest

If you do not drive, the apparent proximity of this hotel to the Fairgrounds and St. Josephs theater is greatly misleading.

This is the 4th time my husband and I have stayed at this Best Western. Price is reasonable, convenient to get to, and the rooms are always clean. But the one feature we really like, is the in-house restaurant. It is a little pricey, but the food is fabulous.

Room seemed clean but no shower gel or soap. Room can use a refresh. Breakfast eggs inedible, sticking to pan and hard. There was a few other options but not many.

Check-in was easy and staff pleasant. Parking plentiful. Quiet given proximity to the thruway. Full breakfast , if somewhat uninspiring (Two of three days I had breakfast at hotel it wasvthec same cheese omelettes and skinless sausage links. Both could have been warmer). Elevator had a funky smell to it

An easy walk to the pink lot to pick up the walking trail to the concert venue. On site restaurant is a little pricey, but worth every penny. Seriously. Nice upgrades to the hotel.
