Breakfast was highly disappointing, nothing hot, very few selections and the room was dirty. Hotel room was ok, but bathtub had dark dirt stains like it wasn't clean. Two floors but NO elevator. Staff was friendly and the only reason not giving 1 star.

Great value: nice clean room with the average bfast. Not great attention at the front desk. Had to ask a couple of times for ice (the machine was broken), then they just let me dig into the bag that was unceremoniously plopped on the check-in desk. And the sink at the bfast room which is labeled "for hand-washing only" had no soap, no towels. Which, at a self serve bfast bar is a bit of an oversight.

Enjoyed fitness center and beverages availability. Entire stay was quiet despite being busy due to Junior Olympics in town. Slept great, too.

The gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful. The room was cleaned, we use the weight equipment, dining area was clean and nice. I would recommend this property.

The stay was fine. The spaces were all very clean - the lobby, breakfast area, workout room, and room. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were soft. The desk service was cordial at check in and with one other ineraction I had. There was noise from the highway, but that would have been the same if staying in any of the surrounding motels. I think it is a little overpriced considering the nicer hotels in the area were not too much more per night.

The room was terribly dirty, and there were multiple places with sticky food type residue on it. It was evident it wasn’t cleaned. The room was set to 80 but blowing cold air in February/March. It was warmer turning the unit completely off. There were mystery stains on the walls by the closet, and the bathroom had so much rust on the water units. The front desk attendant was nice, and I know it was a cheaper hotel, but I DO expect basic cleaning and hygiene.

Bathroom not cleaned toilet was dirty. Ice bucket was dirty. Stuff on the walls. Hadn't been cleaned very good. Door doesnt close all the way. Key cards almost never work takes over 5 mins to get into room.

The only good thing was the price. I stay in a lot of hotels, I don’t need fancy but I do want clean. This one has several hair globs on the shower walls, cigarette burn holes in the sheets, and rough particles on the sheets. Seemed like the sheets don’t get washed very often. I just couldn’t do it.

We had stayed here overnight getting in late as we had family funeral the next morning. First I turned light on in bathroom and saw a big scurrying into crack by sink, hoping what I saw wasn't a roach. Then my son turned light on on the desk and 2 more cockroaches scurried away but he caught one under the cup for the in room coffee pot. If it allows me to I will include the video we took when he lifted cup to show cockroach to me. If it wouldn't have been so late we would have left and found a different motel.

I’m honestly surprised that some people left good reviews about this place. Sure, the price is cheap, but even at this rate, it doesn’t justify getting a hotel room that smells terrible with an air conditioner that’s unbearably loud. On top of that, the room is damp, the carpet is dirty, and when you step on it, it even feels slightly wet. I had to buy an air freshener just to make the smell more bearable. I can’t wait to check out because it’s that uncomfortable. My suggestion: since the service is fine, it would be much better to improve the property so it’s at least decent—and at the very least, not smelly. Oh, and the door has holes, and the towels have turned yellow instead of being white.

The people working behind the desk were the rudest people I have ever dealt with in a hotel. There was a coffee maker in the room and I asked for coffee in order to use the maker and the man behind the desk said only two cups no more. Then when I said it was only decaf he told yelled no more coffee and what I have is what I get. If I don’t like it I can leave and there is no refund on my room I should read what I signed. Then he yelled at the lady that was behind me checking in. It really is to bad because the hotel it self was nice but the staff is the absolute worst. The breakfast was waffles and that was it because the staff said they were not putting anything else out because they always end up wasting food.

We were only here one night. Service was excellent. He greeted us with a smile and apologized for only having second floor rooms and offered to help with our luggage. We didn’t have much so didn’t need any help but I’ve never heard any other hotel provide this and I travel a lot! Definitely recommend this hotel if your in the Des Moines area.

The front desk clerk went above and beyond helpful. We had a situation with a different hotel on Friday night and couldn't stay there. Called here and explained and told him we couldn't check in until somewhere between 11-12 that evening. He made it happen and was very helpful and nice and accommodating

No one available to check us in. Waited well over 5 min after using the phone designated to call for service (no answer). First room smelled terrible. Asked for different room which didn’t smell but employee never came back with a room key. Went back to desk three times (until 10:00pm) and no one was there. Asked for key at breakfast so I could return to room & get things out…was initially told I don’t need a key. Breakfast was skimpy. Waffle batter cups didn’t fill machine, one yogurt in fridge (there were 2 of us). Tables weren’t cleaned off.

Management promised they would do what they could to refund my last nights stay because I left early, but didn't follow through with emails and "ghosted me" when I tried to contact them multiple times. AC didn't work properly and had to wake up often throughout the night to reset it and turn it back on. Housekeeping didn't make the beds and although they did take the trash out and gave us some towels, it was really weird that they left the toilet seat up as if it was used by a man (we were all girls staying in the room so didn't do that at all). Ice machine was unreliable, usually empty. When we first got there the refrigerator had no shelves so the maintenance guy (I believe his name was Tony) was awesome and got us a new one. He was the most wonderful part of our stay! He did his job well! Thanks, Tony! Bummer that the rest of the hotel is not great!

Hotel was ok. Bed was comfortable. Nice location Found a hair in the bathroom and sink. They didn’t seem to have all breakfast items out as it was very sparse. Staff seemed more interested in being on cell phones or smoking than they did in helping guests.

We weren't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. Sam, the young man who checked us in was very pleasant to talk to and very thorough in getting the job done. I, unfortunately, left my cell phone behind; and when we called, after realizing it was missing, he told me they had my cell phone at the front desk.

Stayed at a hotel across the street the first night because my son was staying with teammates who had a room block, it was fine but pricey.. it was more than double the price of this super 8, breakfast was $15/person and WiFi wasn’t free. Second night, I stayed at the super 8. Got there late, parking lot was very well lit, I was alone but felt very safe which was a big deal for me especially being late at night. The gentleman at the front desk was quick and helpful and I got to my room easily. It was nice and quiet the entire night. Air fresheners would be a bit helpful I think but overall it was just fine for a place to sleep for a night. The price was great, it was fair, free continental breakfast (I didn’t have time to try it before I left), free WiFi, and had the option of Netflix on the room tv. I had no issues during my short stay.

This place was not even close to the airport like it advertises. I could not even find it. I put in the address and it took me to a park at 2:00 in the morning. When I went to go find it it was total opposite direction from the airport. Then I got the notification that I need to reserve an extra day in order to check in. I would like refund.

Breakfast was highly disappointing, nothing hot, very few selections and the room was dirty. Hotel room was ok, but bathtub had dark dirt stains like it wasn't clean. Two floors but NO elevator. Staff was friendly and the only reason not giving 1 star.

All was good except for the breakfast. Very poorly stocked. When we got in there at 8am. there were 2 slices of bread and no syrup was out for waffles. No OJ or Apple juice machine. Five slices of bread were put out after telling them there were two of us wanting toast. I could see being short on items toward the end of breakfast time but this was halfway thru the breakfast time.

I'm thankful that this Super8 had a continental breakfast and easy-to-make waffles. I was disappointed that the first day had very limited breakfast items in stock when I came down around 8am. I asked the front desk for help, who went in the back room for some items. While it was enough for me to have a meal, I wouldn't expect it to last for many more guests who would come after breakfast closes around 10am.

Room was clean with a very comfortable bed. A/C worked well to cool the room and eliminate the slight musty smell when first walking in the room. The breakfast was a minimal continental style. The staff was friendly and it was easily accessible from the interstate. Will definitely stay again when visiting the state fair.

The outside of the property and the area would have inferred it was a nice location. It was I Erin by people living in the rooms, BBQs sitting outside on the lawn areas. At 5AM I was woken up by a lady walking the halls knocking on all the doors screaming help. My dog was frightened all night because of the loud “tenants” and we didn’t get any rest. I would like a refund.
