Ryegate House Colchester

Could have been perfect but let down by standard of cleaning. Great location within easy walking distance of centre. Parking was available which was great being so close to the centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room however was not up to the standard of cleanliness expected. The bathroom seemed to have just been wiped down with a cloth rather than properly cleaned. It needed a good scrub which I just did myself. The toilet seat was not properly clean either. Only the end of a roll of toilet paper supplied. The kitchen cupboard shelves were not clean and the cupboard smelled. The cups had obviously just been rinsed and had stains in them. Again all sorted with a good scrub. If room had a better clean, this would have been a perfect place to stay.

The hotel has a kitchen and laundry, which is a real plus for anyone staying for a while. The location is great too – it's only a 5-minute walk to the town center. Plus, the owner is super nice and friendly..

You get a room with your own fridge and bathroom. Very quiet area, comfy bed and helpful staff. Recommended.

Good price, helpful host and all necessary facilities. Would recommend!
