The most disturbing event that happened during our stay is the hosts unwillingness to follow standard medical care on bat exposure. This is an old house so we are not blaming the host for the presence of the bat. The host's husband came and caught the bat. We contacted a physician for what to do. I informed him that he needed to have it tested to determine if it had rabies to prevent us from going through the rabies multi shot protocol. They released the bat without having it tested for rabies or seeking medical advice, accused us of basically lying and stating that we weren't exposed to the bat. A bat bite may not be detectable and exposure requires certain medical protocols followed. Rabies is deadly and causes imminent death. Additionally, the welcome email was not filled out and stated host has not provided any information. This was sent 3 days prior to our check in. My last trip and stay with VRBO and had all the codes, contact information including phone number, specific instructions for the location, clean up instructions. I asked for the door code the night before and was told it would be given the day of the trip in the welcome email. I had asked because we put the information on our calendar and print a copy in case our phones are not working. The next day, the day of arrival, we were given the code and told we would get a welcome email. We never received that email. Then the host did not remember the day we were checking in and when I verified that we were checking in that day we received a reply that they looked at the wrong date and we were told that "VRBO is somewhat of a difficult interface." I do agree with that; the app was not working well while we were there. Not having the welcome email with the phone number included on it did not make it easier. The Safety information on the welcome email was also not filled out. If you plan on doing any cooking, the kitchen is not well stocked. There are no kitchen towels and no cleaning supplies for the kitchen except for liquid dish soap and dish washer soap and white bathroom towels. There are a lot of breakables all over the 1st floor and therefore not kid friendly. We just put all the breakables up. The kitchen table is wobbly and drinks will spill easily. Description should indicate that the day bed is right by front door, there are 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 4th bedroom is the attic and bathroom 1 of 2 is on1st floor and bathroom 2 of 2 is on 2nd floor.
