Excellent hotel in the heart of San Marco. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Only complaint is that our room A/C was not very cold.

Desk staff was great and provided great recomendations. Warning, as an hold hotel there is no elevator. Staff carried up bags, but climbing 3 flights of stairs gets old.

Great location. Dark room, overrun breakfast area. Venetian “no aircon” rules in October meant tons of mosquitoes or very high room temperature…

The property was conveniently located and a five minute walk to Saint Marks Square. The Hotel is located in a building that is over 100 years old, but has been through many renovations. The hotel staff is great and their personality gives the place vibrant feel and the decor gives the hotel unique charm that makes it a fun place to stay. Be aware the hotel has 3 floors and a ground floor with no elevator so ask for a low floor if you have accessibility issues.

This is one of the least favorite hotel I have stayed at. It does not have an elevator. So, every day we had to use stairs to ho to third floor. We did not like the old style decoration. In our opinion, the carpet was very old and sofa were worn down. Our room paint had patches. Light chandelier had cracks. We felt that the bathroom was small and shower area was narrow. For some reason, our bathtub had two hand held showers. While it might sound good, the handle were on different walls. As a result, space was even less to stand and take a shower. Breakfast was ok. But, not much vegetarian options.

Property is adjacent to a canal , but no access so we walked 15 minutes from closest water taxi stop access . Breakfast was included and was excellent . Only one classic door key is provided and has to be on front desk when guests are out. Quadruple room has enough space to accommodate. Friendly staff. They took our luggage to our room in second floor. No elevators . A/C worked well on hot summer temp. Quiet streets windows .

The staff was helpful in getting a water taxi. The location is a bit difficult to access. Some amenities were lacking, I would rate the hotel as three star not four.

This property has the best location you can imagine; however, it has a lot of negative issues. For instance, the check in was not smooth, given the fact the property owner sent us directions about an hour before our arrival. Keep in mind, the checking time is until 1:00pm. After that, they charge you extra 20€. The worse of all was the lack of AC, although I booked this property because AC was listed. When we got there, I called the owner to request the AC to be turned on, it was off and locked, and she declined my request. She stated it was the law to keep the AC off and that we did not need it. She suggested to open the windows, however, there were mosquitoes. We were supposed to get a room with view to the courtyard, but the courtyard was a space where the restaurants downstairs keep their trash. You can just imagine the view and noises! The second night, the owner was in the property and told she was turning the AC on because the temperature reached the highest on that day. I am not sure if this was accurate, but what I know is that the temperature in both days we were there reached the same highest: about 27 Celsius. I did contact Expedia, so I don’t if they actually talked to the owner. Bottom line, if location is your number one priority, this is the place, and you don’t mind the heat and the lack of attention and rudeness.

Was a good location and big spacious room for Venice - but hotel needs a revamp and lick of paint! Walls dirty and grubby- (not charming dirty) with every historic mosquito squash visible. Bed not comfortable.

Rooms and esp bathrooms are outdated. There was a strong smell in the room then we figured it’s due to mold everywhere behind the mirror and around the bathtub. We reported it to the front staff not much help was proposed they said open the windows but then there will be a lot of mosquitos. Also we asked for hair conditioner they said not available. They only have shampoo/ gel douche all in one. Not sure if this is the status of all rooms. I didn’t see this on previous reviews. No ability to control AC too.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable. No elevator and 3 flights of stairs!!! Everything is very dated and worn. No light outside of door to put key in easily. No mention of mini bar that was in room. Great location.

Great location, 10 minute Walt to Rialto and 5 minute walk to San Marco’s square. Really nice place to stay. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I am aware that it’s a very old boutique hotel, however, health concerns should be taken more seriously. The dust in these rooms and on the beds triggered asthma attack and respiratory distress in one of my children, and my second child had either an allergic reaction on her face from laying down on the pillow or bites from bedbugs all over her face. We showed the video to the staff of all of the dust coming from the bed when my child jumped from joy, they reassured me that someone went in and cleaned the room, however, the second day, massive dust cloud still came out from that same bed after he laid on it. On another note, location is excellent, easy walk to all of the shops, restaurants etc. 25 min ferry from train station and about 10 euros a person, which is a 5 min walk and one bridge from the hotel. Water taxi is double that amount. The staff at the front desk very very friendly, and very knowledgeable with great recommendations. No elevators and no AC, however if you can manage up and down the stairs, that’s fine because someone is there that can help you with luggage. We had to sleep with windows open, which made it very noisy at night and also easy entry for mosquitoes. The room had a very bad smell when we entered, smelled very musty. With 3 nights of airing it out, we almost got used to it. Overall, if you don’t die from allergies or asthma, it’s a good choice. Breakfast was just ok. Very small selection, kids didn’t even want to eat. Only had 2 outlets. No iron.

Incredible building. Exceptionally friendly staff upgraded us to a Canal view. Hearing the gondolier’s sing and play accordion floating by was like a fairytale for myself and my daughter on our three night stay. Highly recommended for your trip to Venice. *bonus is the great breakfast included

Our stay here was nothing but amazing! The views of the canal let me speechless you can hear some of the people on gondolas singing from our room which added an authentic feel to my stay here in Venice. Definitely would stay here again.

The Hotel Ca' Alvise is a nice little hotel situated on a quiet canal a few bridges away from St. Mark's Square. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable and DARK, which meant we all finally had a place in Italy to sleep past sunrise. We enjoyed dining nearby and walking further into Venice from here. The continental breakfast was great.

Small property on quite canal street. Location was great. Bed and pillows were rock hard. A/C didn’t work. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Porter carried bags up stairs and the hotel arranged our water taxi to airport.

We reserved a deluxe room with Canal View. The room was smaller than we expected although we had a good size bathroom. We did find the bed and pillows far too hard for our liking. The aircon worked really well, which we needed as it was very hot outside when we were there. The location of the hotel was excellent for exploring and only one bridge to carry cases over from Rialto. Breakfast was pretty good, with the hot selection being bacon, hotdog style sausages, scrambled eggs and baked beans.

Very quiet, comfortable beds but flat pillows. Stayed in Gold room for four. Breakfast was included and very nice.

We stayed for only two nights. The accommodations were exactly as advertised. The location was excellent. The only negative was the lack of elevator, but the experience was worth a few flights of stairs. What really made the hotel great was the staff. They were incredible. I travel for work and am in hotels regularly. The staff at the Ca' Alvise was the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with. They could not have been more helpful.

We really liked this excellent property in beautiful venice. We originally planned for 2 nights but due to missed connection we reached a day late. The manager waived us the fee for one day. It was so generous of him. The rooms had that great victorian vibe and it was in excellent condition. The breakfast area was excellent and the choices were great too. We really enjoyed our stay there.

The staff was so amazing and helpful. The transportation they arranged from the airport was outstanding! The location is perfect. Close to everything without being overcrowded.

This is the worst hotel. The front desk gave me the worst ever service ever in my life. I tried to book a car to take me to train station two days ahead and they tell me it’s very easy and simple then they bring me the car late I didn’t catch my train Because of the front desk employee cost me €400 plus I lost my ticket that I purchased before €300 my advice to Expedia to take out this hotel from their list.

Excellent location, close to main tourist attractions. Service standards by front desk staff were low, unfriendly staff generally. Staff serving at breakfast were lovely though. Room was clean. AC did not work but night auditor provided a portable unit that did the job.

チェックアウト時に水上タクシーを呼んでもらったのですが、スタッフさんがわざわざ乗り場までスーツケースを持って案内してくれました。雨も降っており、子連れでもあったので、非常に助かりました。

Great location and within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. The room was very nicely decorated with antique furniture, just a little smaller than we thought. But overall fantastic hotel with great breakfast provided and would definitely recommend staying here.

Amazing location. Pls change your coffee machine, travellers would like to have a nice cup of coffee in Italy when they wake up. Especially when breakfast is one of the features of your hotel.

Das Hotel Ca' Alvise hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Es liegt ruhig, aber zentral – nur etwa 10 Gehminuten von der Rialtobrücke und dem Markusplatz entfernt. Unser Zimmer war geschmackvoll eingerichtet, mit einem grossen, komfortablen Bad. Das Frühstück war gut und ausreichend. Insgesamt ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt.

The property could use new carpeting and is a bit worn down, but the day staff is excellent and super helpful. The breakfast is honestly terrible. Italy is known for good food and great coffee. The coffee is instant- both in the rooms and at breakfast. The food is just very mediocre and needs an upgrade.

What a wonderful hotel and great location. Breakfast was great (a lot of options, could do with some granola). The staff is very friendly and competent. They carried the luggage, helped with inquiries and answered all questions to our satisfaction! The rooms are finished with lovely Venetian furniture and style. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
