Hotel Excelsior Venice

We had the family suite and the two twin beds for my kids were tucked behind partial walls which gave the semblance of separation. We loved the peace after time in the bigger cities, and the amenities — the pool, the beach cabanas, and the breakfast buffet. We were helped book a water taxi to the train station for and there is a free boat to San Marco Square.

First class hotel, beautiful location and added bonus of water taxi service.

Séjour mémorable au sein de cet hôtel somptueux. Un complexe immense avec une longue et large plage privée avec cabines. Une piscine très grande et très belle accès direct à la mer et au sable fin. Une très belle architecture. Des chambres spacieuses au style vénitien raffiné avec une vue mer imprenable. Un personnel aux petits soins. Un service de navette privée vers la place St Marc très pratique.

Hotel was Excellent. Free Private Boat Service was every 30 minutes to Venice (Added Bonus). Bar & Restaurant Prices were Very Expensive.

Great service by staff. Especially the Concierge. The boat shuttles to San Marco and back are complimentary and run ever 30 minutes from 8:05 a.m. to 11:35 a.m.

A beautiful classic property with a huge pool, great beach with cabanas on a sandy beach and calm warm waters of the gulf of Venice. Wonderful courteous staff in all areas with a great buffet breakfast included with your stay. However I found the food service poor with high prices and sub standard service. Food choices were not great and much too pricey for the quality of food and amounts of food served. The boat service from 9am till 1130 pm with boats running every half hour to and from Venice proper was the greatest feature. You could go into Venice at any time of the day and return by 1130 pm. Shop,eat at a multiple variety of places at a multiple variety of prices at your convenience. Truly a great hotel and a great vacation!

Beautiful hotel, shuttle boats are very convenient, it’s a whole experience to arrive in Venise by boat.

It’s one of the few properties in Venice with a pool. It really is a beautiful place on the beach. The property is rather old and the room and pool need updating but the staff are wonderful. We had an amazing holiday just very expensive.

Excellent choice when visiting Venice in the summer time as you get the best of everything! The hotel offers excellent service and hospitality and with their own boat shuttle to Venice you'll have easy access at your door step. Staff is attentive, helpful, and although a 5 star hotel it have a relaxed feel about it. Breakfast buffet is super! Will come back and highly recommend.

Fabulous location excellent public spaces delicious breakfast but all the rooms old fashioned and bathrooms urgently require refit. . Bathrooms with showers have dangerously slippery shower floor surface with no side bars. This hotel could be paradise with much thought and a modest maintenance budge. Good luck!!!

The valet parking was a bit confusing as the front doors go right out to the main road there is no "lobby parking" you just pull off to the side and wait for the valet. They were dropping off a car as we finished getting our luggage out so it was a bit confusing but, the staff were quick and efficient. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the water shuttle to and from Venice was a great perk (this is not a luggage service you must bring your luggage by the water bus station or the vehicle ferry as vehicles are allowed on Lido). Breakfast was yummy. The room was warm which i understand it is common not to have A/C on yet this time of year, but the balcony had a key lock on it so we were only able to open it a crack to get any air in. The coffee for the coffee machines was amazing. Room other than the air was comfortable. Staff brought our car around and loaded it without us even having to ask. They also assisted us the day we arrived in getting a return ferry for when we left. There could be some updates made but it was an excellent placw to stay amd staff was amazing.

The hotel and rooms are spacious, with great views. The hotel is old and it needs to modernise the rooms and bathrooms. Still a good relaxing holiday.

Bad service though not due to staff. Clearly management have cut corners and it shows. For example no water when you sit by the pool , no water in the room & if you stay 4 nights or 2 nights you get the same coffee allowance and if you need more they will not replenish for free but charge €15 a day. The rooms are very old and bathrooms have not been touched in decades Could be so much better.

I had booked a sea view suite as a treat. £500 per night. We were greeted at the desk in a very off-hand manner and shown to the lift and handed our keys. We found our room, but access to the balcony was locked. Apparently to access this, we had to go back downstairs, sign a waiver accepting carte blanche liability and go back up with a key! The room itself was tired with carpet stains and in need of renovation. The shower (over the bath) needed de-limescaling to work properly and the plug was slow to drain. A coffee machine was provided with 4 coffee pods for our entire stay. More were available at an extortionate price! The minibar had various bottles of water and soda which would be replenished again only at a price. The swimming pool was good and beds comfortable but any refreshments were eye-wateringly expensive (twice any other bar). Consequently we went out for refreshments and meals. However, the hotel is not in a great location for bars or restaurants. Luckily, we found BAGNO MARCONI a little further up the beach. Amazing.

Tout était parfait!!! Service au petit soin!!! Chambre très propre spacieuse et confortable ! Une navette taxi bateau dispo toute la journée et le soir jusqu'à 23h35!!! Le petit déjeuner haut de gamme, frais, que des produits du terroir !!! Parfait on y reviendra sûrement !

This our third visit to Excelsior, it is a lovely hotel, with friendly helpful staff, the boat ride into Venice is a real plus. Breakfast is exceptional, nice swimming pool. It is an old hotel which is becoming tired, hot water a bit unreliable, room service could have been better and there is shortage of sockets and no USB points. I am aware it is now part of the Iconic group and hopefully some investment deliver a better proposition. We still love the hotel and will go back next year

This property although very grand and lovely in the common areas, our room was extremely dated. The carpets were covered in stains, bathroom tiles were cracked, plaster work in bathrooms looked very old. Some of the PowerPoints didn’t work. There were minimal power points making it hard to charge multiple devices. Room was large. Buffet breakfast had great options. Staff were friendly. However food, drinks and services offered by the hotel such as laundry and transfers were extremely expensive. It was nice to be staying on a quieter island as opposed to the main island of Venice, as it was extremely crowded and would have been horrible to wheel a suitcase through. The free boat taking you to the main island of Venice and back was lovely and so convenient. I would not say the stay was worth the average $700 AUD per night we paid. However the cheaper options in Venice also looked extremely dated and cramped so probably wouldn’t have been any better. A note that Taxi’s on the island would only take cash which was quite frustrating as I was forced to walk to a bank to get cash out which charged €4 just to get cash out. Also the taxi driver did not mention this until after we arrived at our destination. We found a few nice meal options within a 20 minute walk of the hotel which was a better option than the very expensive hotel options. Also, a quick note that we ended up using the Aliguana Ferry to get from the airport to Lido and then a taxi from the port to the hotel.

Staff were amazing, beautiful location, ferry shuttle to city was great, breakfast is highly recommended. Rooms were initially impressive but dated, very few plug sockets, no usb, had to pay a cover charge to even eat in the hotel restaurant we were staying in..

If you will be staying in Venice for a while, I recommend that you split your hotel stays and try a couple of days on Lido. The beach and pool is wonderful and the Hotel does run a shuttle to San Marco and to Murano if you'd like to go back into Venice proper. Lovely large rooms and bath. Meals are pricy, so plan accordingly.

Overall good. Excellent breakfast buffet. Our classic double room was large but gloomy, comfortable but not luxurious. Staff varied from friendly and helpful to curt and dismissive. We did at times feel like we were inconveniencing the staff. We will probably try a different hotel next time although the Excelsior is ideally located for a beach holiday with transfers to the huddle and bustle of Venice.

The exterior of the hotel majestic and beautiful. The interior of the hotel, a little tired and the design and furniture selections do not enhance the beauty of the hotel and the surroundings. The shuttle boat of the hotel was a big highlight as we went back and forth to Venice within 15 minutes and in a very romantic and cinematic style. The staff were very courteous and very helpful. We dined at the hotel restaurant and the food was beautifully presented and tasty.

The front desk staff went way above and beyond to help us in all aspects, they were attentive, proper, and professional with a constant smile on there faces at all times, thank the the STAFF for the welcoming feeling.

It took roughly over an hour for them to find our reservation in their system. We requested an ocean view room and they gave us a garden view room and argued saying it was ocean view. I had to request another room … mind you this argument with them was an hour waiting around for our booking confirmation. Check in was overall terrible.. you’d expect more from a 5* hotel and at the price we paid.

Hotel schön, Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht gerechtfertigt! Schlechtes ,unfreundliche Personal,Ausnahme der Gepäckträger welcher immer hilfsbereit und freundlich war! Schlaft dort das Management ??? Für ein 5 Stern Hotel sehr schwach!!!

What an incredible service! Andrea, the concierge, was amazing in helping us with transportation in Venice. The hotel-provided transport was easy to access, and even the external transport we had booked was double-checked and confirmed for us. Hats off to Andrea! And what can I say about this hotel? The service is outstanding, the staff are so warm and welcoming. It’s phenomenal to enjoy both sides of the island – the sea on one side and Venice on the other. We truly appreciated being able to relax and soak up the sun. Highly recommended

5* luxe et le prix pas du tout en rapport avec l’accueil et le service de cet hôtel. A l’arrivée, la personne ne parlait pas français donc elle ne nous a rien expliqué juste donné les clefs…pas d’information sur les services comme accès piscine restauration salle sport navette fluviale…montés seuls à l’étage de grand couloirs sans indication des numéros de chambre Dans les chambres on vous offre 4 dosettes café pour le séjour après c’est 15€ la recharge ! Au prix de la chambre ! Pas de thé ou d’infusions… Dans la salle de bain aucun petit flacon de produit comme sur les photos…un sachet de 2 cotons et une charlotte mais le lendemain on ne vous en remet pas…nous avons fait plusieurs 4 étoiles et le service était bien meilleur. Nous avions choisi cet hôtel 5 *luxe pour un anniversaire de mariage et bien très déçu. A savoir que vous arrivez au centre de l’île, pas de service de navette pour aller à l’hôtel donc 25-30 min à pied ou 5 min en taxi 20€ ! il y a une navette fluviale pour place saint marc. On nous a donné les horaires une carte pour le point de départ à 8-10 minutes à pied. Sauf qu’on ne nous a pas précisé qu’il y avait 2 endroits de départ en fonction de la hauteur de la mer. Le lendemain on retourne à l’arrêt et pas de navette. On appelle l’hôtel et on nous informe qu’il faut demander tous les jours le lieu ! On a loupé notre excursion sur Venise : aucune excuse de l’hôtel ni solution proposée pour nous emmener…on vous déconseille !

Meals and drinks were far too expensive and we had to eat out every night due to the cost and lack of real choice in the menu. On the positive side the pool area and beach were excellent as was the hotel shuttle to Venice. Overall the hotel lets itself down in the details which make all the difference to a holiday and it could be so much better.

A 5 star hotel. Very nice and very elegant. Far from San Marcos but they have a shuttle that takes you there and back every 30 minutes for free.

Simply wonderful, everything you want in a luxury hotel. The Excelsior is certainly a grand hotel, but because it’s on the beach it isn’t stuffy and strikes a perfect balance between luxurious and casual.

Access to Venice from their dock was terrific.

Lovely hotel with great service and lovely pool area. Boat service to San Marco square makes it easy to visit the Venice itself. Drinks and food at the hotel we found overly expensive otherwise would have been perfect hotel.

Good: staff work incredibly hard, pool and beach area was superb, free hotel taxi to San Marco was great Bad: rooms are incredibly tired and dated, so it’s not representative of a 5* hotel, outstanding over pricing of drinks (25€ for an aperol spritz)
