Hyatt House Royal Oak / Birmingham

This hotel is incredibly clean and offers exceptional customer service!

Hotel room, location and front staff were great, the problem was management. We needed to see a specialist doctor for our 95 year old mother. Exam was Tuesday, surgery was going to be Wednesday. We booked for Monday night - checkout Thursday. We took the four hour trip Monday, because traveling is hard on her. Went to exam Tuesday, and the doctor knew exactly what the problem was, but felt that the risk was too high. We then stayed that night and checked out Wednesday, as there would be no surgery. They would not refund the room, said because it was through Hotels.com. So we contacted Hotels.com, and they contacted the manager at the Hyatt House Royal Oak/Birmingham, they were unwilling to refund the unused night. I feel this is pretty ridiculous, considering that we stayed for two nights already. This is the reply from Hotels.com, after they had contacted the property: Property name:Hyatt House Royal Oak/Birmingham After contacting the property, they’ve decided to uphold the original cancellation policy and have declined the waiver request. We understand this may be disappointing. Hotels often have strict policies in place, and unfortunately, there’s nothing else we can do in this case. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out. We’re truly sorry there wasn’t more we could do to help in this case. Seems like a lack of customer service, but others might see it differently. Anyway, learn from my mistake.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 – Clean and Well-Maintained, but Very Noisy Overall, we had a good experience at the Hyatt. The hotel was very clean, well maintained, and comfortable, and we were pleased with the condition of the property and our room. Unfortunately, the guests in the room above us were extremely noisy and seemed to stomp and walk heavily throughout the night, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The noise was frustrating, but aside from that, we were happy with the hotel itself. I would stay again, although I would definitely request a top-floor room next time.
