Seaside Inn - Isle of Palms

Great location - right on the beach, walking distance to a number of restaurants, helpful staff, pet friendly. The rooms are small.

Let's start with the pro's - walk out of your room, down a few steps and you're on the beach! Our room was clean and odor-free, as were the towels and bedding. The bathroom was simple but functional. A small coffee station was equipped with a Keurig coffee machine, a small microwave and a mini-fridge. Replacement coffee pods, waters and other necessities were freely available from the lobby. Off-street parking was available under the building, with the cost added to the bill at check-in. Don't underestimate this - the city parking ambassadors (as they are called) are very active in the streets outside! A complementary continental style breakfast is served daily in the lobby, which we enjoyed on the tables overlooking the beach. On the con's - be aware that only six of the rooms have full sea views and semi-private balconies, and these rooms have a premium price tag. All the other rooms have no sea view, or 'partial' sea views. We found our room to be a bit sparse - there was nowhere to sit apart from the bed (but then, you're there to sit on the beach, not in your room...). A simple piece of artwork on the wall would have given the room some character. Tiled floors seemed a bit austere and cold at first, but after we had dropped sandy clothes on the floor, we realized that carpets or mats would have been a big mistake! All in all, five minutes on the beach and a dip in the sea water, and one tends to overlook the minor imperfections of the stay!

We loved being right in the beach, it doesn’t get much more convenient for an ocean lover. The rooms were nice over all. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were amazing! There isn’t much on sight parking so keep that in mind. There are only about 10 spots at the Inn. They have spill over parking not far from them but it’s a pain when you have to pack a lot of luggage. Over all our stay was amazing and we will definitely stay again!

This small hotel is right on the beach as it says. It has a boardwalk with a shower to rinse off. My husband and I went for a short Wed.-Fri. stay. After driving 5 hours to get there, and arriving at 2:30pm, we asked if we could check in early. The room was ready, but we could only check in for a $75 upgrade. No thanks. We found a place to park, and went to the beach for an hour. The pros: The beach is right there, one ice maker worked on the 2nd floor, and the bed was comfortable. There is a breakfast in the lobby. It was mostly pancakes and cereal, boiled eggs in a package and apples. Coffee and tea are also in the lobby. Pro/con-depending on when you go to sleep-The Windjammer bar is two buildings down. We didn't hear anything the first night. The second night, they had a band outside, but they did end at 9:30. We never heard the music from the inside band, which started at 9:30, but we do bring a white noise machine with us. Just FYI. Our only real complaint was they never cleaned our room for the two days. The floor obviously gets sandy no matter how hard you try. We started using our towels as a rug and to wipe our feet before we got into bed. Our small trash can was overflowing as well. The day we were to leave at 11:00am, we had walked on the beach and were back to shower and change. We had the "Do not disturb" sign on the door, and someone knocked. It was the maid! She knocked at 9:45am with the sign on, and when I opened it, she didn't speak English. Oh well!

Cozy room and loved the beach accessibility. Location is perfect! We never moved our car, bc everything was right around the hotel. The pool was very small and only 3 1/2 ft deep, so we never used it. Pancake breakfast was good, and staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Our first room tv didnt work. Staff moved us immediately. AC was srugglimg and leaking. Not a bad time just a little on the costly side for what you get. Very small pool...would let that be a surprise to people and not list that as an amenity.

We stay at Seaside Inn every time we visit IOP. It’s not super fancy and the elevator never seems to be working when we visit but the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance and there is easy access to the beach. The free breakfast is good for a quick grab and go of different snack options. I think Seaside is a good, affordable option if you are like us and just need a nice clean room to stay when having fun at the beach.

The spot near the beach was great. There was just no parking!! Had to pay to park after spending alot for the hotel!! Finally was able to park at the hotel after a day of riding around waiting for someone to move!

Would it kill them to repair the hole in the ceiling above the shower head? Also good luck with parking. The onsite parking is limited to about 10 slots under the building, very cramped. Over flow parking is 75 yards away in a very congested area.

When we first got to the small room we sat on the bed and a roach ran across and jumped off the bed. The office/breakfast area roof had a bad leak that was leaking rain water on the bagels.

Clean perfect location

Floors were nasty,hair on the bed,sheets were dirty. Sink leaked,toilet was about to fall over.

Beds were very comfortable with crisp clean sheets. Room smelled freshly cleaned. The light to the bathroom was on the outside of the bathroom and a little annoying in the middle of the night because it shines the light into the bedroom. Loved that clean towels were available anytime for guests to grab.

Linens fluffy, white. Odor of Chemicals for cleaning, probably to fight mold, were so strong they triggered a serious asthma attack in my husband. Odor of mold broke through and seemed disseminated as air conditioner came on. We had to check out early and suffer financial loss. Many areas of room and areas of facility needed repair and painting. Disappointing as location was excellent.

I did not like this property. The rooms do not look like the picture online. The room had holes in the wall, very dated and roaches. We did not stay.

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights this week. The staff was nice, however the room smelt like mold and old corn, to the point where I developed a cough. The shower was overflowing, the smoke alarms literally went off from shower steam. Mold behind the bed. Stains on the sheets. Location was great but this hotel honestly felt so dirty.

The air conditioner did not eliminate any humidity in the room so when we were getting ready for bed we noticed the bedding was damp and cold. We could not sleep under the covers and the front office was closed up for the night. Next day had new bedding replaced and by bedtime the sheets were damp and cold again. Room had a funky musky odor. Room looked like the last time it was renovated 20 years ago.

Room smelled like bleach. Made us feel like it was clean but too strong. The window blind was broken. I had to put something in the window. Otherwise it wasn’t bad. Bathroom could use updating.

This property is in a stellar location, but it has been worn hard and hung up wet. The bathroom sink would not drain, and the shower curtain kept zero water inside shower. Mostly the bathrooms need to be gutted. The beds were decent and I would add a blackout curtain.

Do not bother spending more money on a sea view vs regular room as the standard rooms get the same view as you do just a little further back. Both rooms you have to step outside to see the ocean. The shower flooded the bathroom floor everytime we showered. Only thing good about this motel was that it was right on the ocean. Would also be nice if they told you that you had to pay to park in their lot at the time of booking. Front desk people were not friendly at all.

The location of the hotel was right on the ocean, which is so convenient. Our room was close to the office and you could hear a lot of talking and foot traffic. There is only a blind in the room and not a curtain, so the exterior light made the room bright all night. The shower had low water pressure. This could be because of the shower wand. The tv was positioned in an odd place. It would have to be moved on the mount so you wouldn’t hit your head on it when coming out of the bathroom. You could not see the tv unless you were on your side in the bed. However, the proximity to the beach was great and the room was clean!!

a few small things that are easily remedied. rooms need black out curtains. we had to hang towels up in the windows to keep the led hall lights from shining in. Even with the towels, it was too bright. overall the room was fine but it reeked of weed upon arrival. great location and good price.

Ok the building is in need of general maintenance(guard rails are lose, the sink in our room was moving around, lose steps etc) yes they have WiFi in the rooms but no internet connection, the windows have blinds but no curtains so the out side light comes in all the time. The staff was very good and friendly

I loved the proximity to the beach and the options for restaurants that were close by. Pool is small, but nice to take a quick dip in - an umbrella would be great as it’s all sun. The air conditioner in the room was in working condition but, the vents were caked in very thick layer of dust that the air had to travel through. Every night the air quality in the room seemed to get worse.

room was smaller than i realized. shower drain was clogged. i was told the room was a “partial view” of the beach. there was not a view of the beach unless u walked out of the room and walked towards the beach front of the hotel.

Great price and location. Mildew smell was strong and offensive. Corridor light just outside the window made it difficult to sleep even with blinds closed. Bathroom fan was connected to the light so very noisy.

Was almost impossible to log in to internet and get my work done. Tv kept going in and out. Parking was difficult. Loved the location of the hotel and the walking distance to dining and ocean.

Jake at the front desk was the only positive in our experience. He was very customer service oriented. Held out bags and helped with information to enjoy our stay. That being said - When we were eventually able to check in it was another male employee - the night guy obviously and in need of a customer service class. We did not get the room we thought we rented (King/Oceanview) - then our room (206) had mold in the bathroom and an awful odor (mold/butane smell). Tried to air out and when we returned from dinner the plaster from the ceiling in the bathroom had fallen on the floor and another room by us that was unrented had the door left unsecured (210) - which we reported at the same time as the plaster issue. Tried to give us the "open" room (210) - which we declined - and gave us an "upgrade" to a partial view room (214) - no help offered to change rooms (could have offered the baggage cart) but on our own mind you 10:30pm - moved rooms - door did not open all the way so had to maneuver luggage to the right - close door to go left to get around. Deadbolt not working - The recessed light in the bathroom was a little too recessed/we could see the insulation/wires in the ceiling and the toilet was not secured to the floor - still had shims under it - that could have been a mess. The hotel looks nothing like the pictures - paint chipping - plaster chunking off everywhere - odors - nothing like what was expected. Very Disappointed!!

Good customer service, easy beach access, close to many restaurants and live music. Housekeeping did a wonderful job.

Really enjoyed our stay. Older property, very basic, would love if it were a little more updated and modern, but it’s on the beach!! Staff was very friendly and quick to attend to our needs.

This is the sweetest little inn on the beach, easy access to the sand and water. Surrounded by restaurants. The staff was super friendly. Wonderful for my first visit to South Carolina!

Location was excellent, no attendant after 10pm. Free breakfast in the morning started at 0730, not 0630... no place to sit and eat, although breakfast was pancakes and cereal. Did like code for door instead of room key. Staff friendly.

First, I did not receive a single reminder of this reservation, nor a confirmation email. Second, I wasn’t able to make it to Charleston for medical reasons yet was charged the full rate of missing the stay. Poor communication , inability for any type of flexibility and unfriendly customer support - rating of 1 out of 10, wish I could rate a 0.

The hotel is old but amazing location. Room was basic and met needs. You stay here for the location. On the ocean and walking distance to all the little bars.

This is not a quite place because its next to a music venue. But by 11 pm it gets calm. The staff was amazing and there isn’t a better location.

Staff is very nice. The hotel is clean but rooms are a bit on the small size. The hotel is right on the beach and right next to The Windjammer. Being right next to a concert bar, don't expect to get an early nights sleep. It's quiet after the concerts are over though. There are some nice but small bars and restaurants very near. Parking is an issue since there are limited spots in the neighborhood. Parking in the street is free during offseason.

Location was great! Right on the ocean. 20 minutes from Charleston. Price was reasonable. Staff were very good- although, we had little interaction with them. They responded quickly to our one request. Thursday night was quiet, but Friday night was loud outside in the street due to a show at a nearby restaurant. Facility was older and in need of repair in some spots, but our room was clean and in working order. Would definitely stay there again.

Excellent location, with dining options nearby and a quick walk to the grocery store. Very typical Oceanside hotel.

It is a good hotel for a couple of nights. It is right on the beach. Staff is nice. Building is old. It gets loud at night if there is a band playing next store.

Nice location. Parking was available. It was off season so not many people. Bar next door has live music. If it where in season I think the noise would have bothered me.

Was a good stay. It does have a small breakfast. Pancakes and cereal. Place was clean. No hairdryer and no chair to sit on.

Terrific clean room with microwave and fridge, beach-side with outdoor shower. Great grab&go breakfast. (please hammer in the nails popping up on the path between shower & beach). Would definitely come her again!

This was such a great place to stay for the price! The staff was very friendly and made our little one feel welcome. It’s of course right on the beach and still affordable. The room service made sure our bed was made and fresh towels left. We really liked the breakfast, which includes a neat pancake maker.

Perfect access to the beach, very friendly staff, close parking and great location. Only downside is the breakfast: limited to pancakes and cereal, which would be ok except there is no seating. It's not easy to eat pancakes on the go.

Great stay. Loved the continental breakfast. Safe right on the beach. Picnic tables facing beach for guests to eat watch sunrise and sunset from any guest room. Relaxed atmosphere. Safe for teens to independently go to beach.

I liked that there was unlimited free water bottles and extra towels were very easy to access. The pancakes at breakfast were delicious. Don’t bother with ‘partial ocean view’. Try for something on the 1st floor for best access to the ocean.
