Upon arrival the check in staff were not overly friendly, and it was not a great welcome to the hotel. Once we got into the room and upon checking the facilities the bathroom was in a shocking condition with the toilet and tiles coming away from the wall (hanging off the wall) Upon reporting this, the response was I think maintenance has gone home for the day so we will move you to another room… with a minimal apology. The bathroom in the room we were moved to was better, but the flooring felt like it was about to fall through and the toilet again was starting to pull the tiles off.Again when reporting this all we had as a response was we will get maintenance to look at it once you’ve gone. When using the Spa facilities we found these in poor condition. Prior to booking we were advised the pool was due to be refurbished and completed by the time of our stay, this was not done and the tiles on the floor of the pool were absent and coming away during the visit - the jacuzzi was not working and found out from a member this has been the case for about 2 weeks. Changing rooms also had no lockable lockers so had to be left unattended. The women’s showers had about a months worth of hair in the drains, so we showered in the room ( in view of the car park). We were told on check in we had to pay a 75 pound retainer cost for extras we might buy ,we said we wouldn’t be doing that and asked why to be told “it’s policy”. The next morning breakfast was underwhelming and rushed.

We had a great stay in a family room. The room was clean. The bar food was great with the new menu. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely and warm.

Excellent rooms, service and food. Spa was also welcome bonus although jacuzzi not working at time of stay.

The hotel pool advertised a jacuzzi but had not been working for weeks. At weekend the pool facilities like the steam room was turned on at 0800 then took ages to be ready and unables to used. The room was ok but lacked finer points like drawers, hooks to hang clothes. Tea milk ect, was not referbished the next day. Radiator and electric heater not working. Toilet not easy to flush and did break bown. Did not like the only one option on the menu for dinner in the restaurant on Friday and then the same on Saturday.

Lovely place, lovely people, lovely food. Had everything we wanted and more. Definitely coming back. Shame about no gym or jacuzzi but can’t blame them for it breaking, and gym is being redone so nice to see being invested in.

Very tired hotel, lots of cobwebs in bar. (My pet hate) Room very cold, radiator in bathroom didn't work, cracked windows in room, mouldy and rotten frames. Spa weekend, jacuzzi and steam room didn't work, felt like waste of money. Food excellant and so to were waiting on staff. Tried it, but wouldn't stay there again.

Nice hotel, good breakfast, great gym! Slightly let down by tired looking decor and early finish for ordering in the restaurant (8:45). Also disappointed that the fine dining was only available at weekends.

The hotel is stunning, but the service was disappointing. At check-in, no information was provided about the breakfast times, the location of the breakfast room, or the spa facilities. I had to ask multiple questions to get even the most basic details, which left a poor first impression. Housekeeping was also inconsistent, with unvacuumed carpets and bathroom bin left uncleared. Overall, while the hotel’s appearance and some staff members impressed, the lack of clear communication, inconsistent housekeeping, and poor spa management took away from what could have been a truly enjoyable stay.

The hotel is in beautiful grounds & surroundings. Theres plenty of parking & not too far to actual hotel with your luggage. The red carpet welcome to reception is a nice luxurious touch. Staff are extremely welcoming & friendly in the restaurant, reception & bar area. It is a characterful old beautiful building. Our room wasnt clean though thick dust behind the radiators & headboard, in the corners of the rooms, plenty of 8 legged lodgers & their webs, which clearly havent been cleaned in weeks not just days, there were dirt & dust on the bathroom bin, bath panel & in general. The shower whilst in use kept losing its pressure on & off every 10 seconds which was annoying. Toiletries are a nice smell & feel luxurious. Kettle, tea/coffee facilities were nice however there were no milk replenishment the following day so we had to come down to reception to ask for some more which isnt in the same building, we were put in the station masters house not in the main building. Breakfast was everything you could ask for & it was lovely 5*. Room 1 * im afraid. We had afternoon tea here & the gentleman was lovely & asked a few times if there was anything else we wanted, it was lovely - homemade cakes & sandwiches. Spa is large & pool nice & warm, plenty of space for people, hot tub nice & hot as was sauna & steam room. Towels given at spa reception. You can help yourself to tea/coffee/ water too. We would return though but would want to be in the main building.

Stayed for 3 nights at the Albrighton. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, from reception to breakfast and bar.. We had a superior double, lovely quality robes and slippers, and also quality soap toiletries. The Spa is really tired, tiles in the pool missing, Jacuzzi not working as waiting for a new one, shower in the ice room broken, not a nice experience. We each had a back massage and have to say this was a great experience and worth the £44 each paid. Housekeeping is the area that really lets the hotel down, webs in the bedroom ceiling, sick not cleaned around the taps, door grubby where you would touch it to enter. The whole hotel reflects this and is why I'm scoring as okay

Stayed for 1 night in a Junior Suite to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Pros: Modernised bathroom had a claw foot tub and a walk in shower, they even provided bath salts! The sauna, steam, aroma, and ice room were free for guests. Pool was at a comfortable temperature. There is a locker room for changing and rinsing off (bring a pound coin to use a locker). Junior suite was roomy and bed was comfortable. Staff were lovely, no complaints. Grounds were beautiful though we didn’t really get to explore Cons: Hot Tub was out of order - when reading other reviews it looked like the hot tub was out of order for other guests before us so not sure how long it has been/will be out of order. The Aroma room did not smell very nice and looked and smelled like it needed a bit of a scrub. I opened the window in the bathroom and there were dead flies crusted on the frame which means it hadn’t been cleaned or even looked at in awhile. The food at the bar was really expensive for what you receive, £14 for a pastrami sub (on the lunch menu) that was actually a very thin panini, came with a side salad which was fresh well dressed, but the sandwich was an absolute let-down (see photo). The hotel's restaurant requires pre-booking so prepare for where to eat before you go. The smart TV’s ‘smart’ features don’t quite work. While the bathroom was beautiful and modern, the room could have used some sprucing. Would I recommend to a friend: Yes, with some caveats.

The Room was dirty, found long hairs in the bed and in the bathroom. Bathroom blind hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time-(dead bugs on it) Screw on the floor, cobwebs everywhere. Some staff were lovely and helpful other staff just ignored the fact you were standing there waiting to be served. Check in took a long time over the time stated due to the room not being ready. Didn’t looked hoovered. Loud noises coming from the pipes- in the stable house, (noticed more in the late evening up untill 11pm). Shower was disgraceful. Won’t stay here again.!

We had a nice stay. The hotel grounds are lovely. The hotel room was a bit weathered and in need of some TLC, but was big, clean and comfortable. It is good value for the room and use of spa (which is also a bit weathered). Would definitely stay again.

I was initially impressed on arrival, but that quickly changed upon entering the building. I received poor directions to my room from a staff member who was confusedly reading a map. The room was outdated, dirty, and stuffy, with minimal and old electronics. After unpacking, I got ready for a shower and was mortified when another guest entered my room—we had been given the same key card! The receptionist then entered and insisted I pack up and return to reception, only to send me back to the same room. When my key card didn’t work on return, I headed back to reception with my belongings again, and they offered me the other room and a welcome drink as an apology. The new room was even worse: orange stains on the bath walls, dirty floors, damaged doors, and an overall unkempt appearance. I needed to work before an early meeting, but the Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room and there was no phone signal, leaving me unable to find another hotel. Feeling unsafe, uncomfortable and extremely dissatisfied, I decided to check out. By this time, it was 10 p.m., and the receptionist was indifferent to my decision to leave just an hour after check-in. The car park was pitch black with no lighting, making it difficult to navigate with my belongings, and I struggled to get out of the car park due to the darkness. I travel often for work, and this was by far my worst experience. Avoid this hotel at all costs!

For a superior room, we were really disappointed . Bathroom sink was blocked when we arrived. The heating was broken and a bedside lamp didn’t work. There was also a wet patch on the carpet where there is clearly a leak under the floor. The room was tired and just looked shabby. I also found a speck of blood on one of the pillows.

Beautiful grounds, impressive exterior and wood panelled dining room. The rooms are spread out over various buildings and I guess some are better than others. The plumbing in the School Masters House needs a bit of love to remedy the pipes rumbling with every flush and the extreme undulations of water pressure in the shower resulting in 10 seconds of luke warm water followed by 10 seconds of freezing cold water and repeat. Certainly wakes you up in the morning!

Found the room and bathroom very small and a constant noise could be heard from outside, especially when trying to sleep. No view as the window was frosted.

We booked a superior room on the basis we were getting a room like the one in the description, however we were badly mistaken! Apparently all superior rooms are not alike, if you want one like in the images yopu have to ask for the lakeside rooms. DO NOT accept room 25. It has no view (opaque film on the glass making it very dim inside) and backs onto the kitchen vent so all you can smell is food when the window is open. It is also tiny in comparison to the majority of other rooms. We have stayed here 3 times and each time the room has been totally different but in the same category. There is nowhere in the description that states this but I have been told this will be rectified. The room we were given at the third attempt was room 1. Much bigger and lighter with a sort of view if you don’t mind overlooking the fire escape, however all the hotel needs a complete remodel. We soon found out the Kitchen was directly underneath our room and it was very noisy well into the late hours. Also for some reason at 2.20am someone started to move around what sounded like heavy kegs/drums or metal containers in the Kitchen for about 1-2 hours. Have no idea what they were doing, but I couldn’t sleep the whole time. Breakfast was ok, bacon was anaemic, mushrooms and black pudding were cold but we could ask for scrambled egg as an option and it was cooked fresh. On the whole the worst stay we have had so far and so we won’t be coming back again.

Lovely response on arrival and very accommodating with any questions or queries. Heating needs to be turned down as it hit me as I enter the room, too hot. Downsize no Internet really, and had to keep going out into the garden to make a telephone calls. Staff were fantastic expect for one lady barman, she must of been having a bad day over something as other guest were commenting too. Room were set out nicely and clean, the team on reception were very helpful.

Enjoyed our stay at Albrighton Hall. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Had to wait a while at the bar as there was nobody there. The staff were friendly.

The staff are very friendly and super helpful. The building and its setting are beautiful and picturesque, with a small lake and gardens. Meals are good and well priced, breakfast plentiful. The room we had was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was rather dated (over bath shower) but clean . Overall, especially for the price, it was a really lovely place to stay and we would certainly recommend. Just one point: for our taste we would prefer not to have the relentless piano music in the evenings.

While woefully understaffed :-( , those staff we did encounter were lovely , friendly , and helpful. We checked in very late ( pre-arranged) and the receptionist was very friendly , especially at that hour. We checked out very early , but traffic was gridlocked around Shrewsbury, so we returned to the hotel as there was no point in driving until road issues had cleared . They very helpfully allowed us to re-check into our room. We’re very grateful to the girl on reception for being so accommodating. It made a big difference to us. We then had lunch . No-one to be seen in the bar area , so had to go to reception to request service. Eventually the events manager came to assist. Such a lovely friendly person. There were issues with the first pint poured , but this was exchanged no problem. Sandwich fillings were fine , but sadly the bread was not fresh enough. Surroundings were great on a lovely sunny day. I’d recommend the hotel , rooms were lovely and grounds great. However there’s *no* soundproofing between floors. So when housekeeping were dealing with the room above , the racket was unreal. However I’d still return . A lovely relaxing venue otherwise

We arrived and the receptionist mixed up our keys but instead of just owning up and saying sorry, she they just acted confused and dragged it out and didn’t say oops or sorry, as if it was somehow our fault. We were a family of 4 in our superior room and we booked half board and asked reception what it included/didn’t include and they said it was £25 per person either in the oak room or the bar. It was a Sunday and a set menu in the oak room so you could choose one course for £20 or two courses for £30 or three courses. The waitress said we couldn’t use it for the children so I asked how we would feed our children as we had paid half board and budgeted that it would cover them. She was really off with us and said she would have to go and check with receptionist then. I said okay (why wouldn’t I) she then came back and said the children can have the kids menu but they don’t have the £25 allocation. We said that was okay. At this point we weren’t filled with excitement about eating there to be honest. Eventually, we got it out of them that my husband could take £5 of my allocation to get two courses. Another table were approached and asked if they wanted still or sparkling and then they were going to charge for it but the people said they didn’t ask for it. They just wanted still tap water. There was one nice waitress and chef who helped us have our dessert in the room because baby got tired. The next morning we went to check out and they wanted to bill us for breakfast!

We had a lovely stay. It’s a beautiful hotel and when we stayed in late November it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. All the staff we spoke with during our stay were friendly and really helpful accommodating our needs with our baby. The breakfast was very nice and reasonably priced at £12.50 when paid for the night before. Parking was easy and free I’d definitely come back here.

Not as good as previous visits. Check in was a real hassle as they could not find the Expedia reservation and the. Struggled to confirm I had pre paid. The room was cold - the long curtains covered the only radiator in the room. The night staff were very helpful in bringing additional bedding. The leisure complex is superb - the front of house team would be better placed on the desk to help rather than sitting in the adjacent room staring at their phone. It took a short while to gain their attention. Overall the stay was good but not as smooth as previous stays.

The welcome on arrival was warm, friendly and professional. The room was a good size and clean. We are in the restaurant on Friday night, the food was excellent and staff friendly and professional. The outside area where the tables are situated overlooking the grounds was disappointing, with several used glasses and ashtrays full of cigarette butts. This was a theme that continued throughout our stay. The bar staff were friendly, but clearly overwhelmed with orders and needed more focus on those waiting to be acknowledged. The worst experience of our stay was checking out, the lady on reception was absent whilst I waited for 10 minutes, I had to walk back to the breakfast room to ask the staff to find her. When she arrived, there was no apology and her demeanour was frosty at best, lacking any customer service skills.

Checked in early which was great Room is lovely, very clean and comfortable. The hotel is great throughout. Slight issue with dinner due to being much busier than the hotel anticipated and had catered for. Breakfast was great, the poached eggs were to die for. Service was great in the bar and at breakfast. The restaurant manager at breakfast was amazing. We'll definitely return

One night stay at the property. It was in a nice area and grounds. The room was adequate, bed was comfortable. Wardrobe doors were broken. Shower wasn’t the best at all. Facilities were good, Enjoyed the gym and sauna / ice room (no ice in there tho, just a cold shower) Breakfast was good. Upon check out I asked the lady on reception about the £50 fee they took from me as a holding fee, she said that she was processing them that day, so I expected it to be returned within a couple of days. Today which is Thursday, I decided to call the hotel to ask what was happening to my £50. I was put on hold whilst they had a look at my booking. The receptionist came back and said that it hadn’t been processed! She apologised but if I hadn’t of called to check they would have just sat on it. I really didn’t expect that at all and a little disappointing to be honest.

Good location not too far from Shrewsbury. Rooms outdated but overall good stay

Beautiful setting but the plumbing in our room was a little tired.

We had a wonderful family weekend at Albrighton Hall. It was perfect for what we needed. Rooms were accommodated close together like we had requested. We stayed during a heatwave and the grounds were delightful. The children had a great time exploring. The staff were so approachable and helpful. We will definitely be looking to return.

Never been before and found it to be a fab place and really good value with sensible prices in the bar. Ground are beautiful and it is a very relaxing place with friendly and helpful staff

Terrible at check in and check out. One lady training and one lady seemed to have no idea! very slow, given wrong room key, not helpful. Breakfast poor, no fresh fruit left, no pastries, no black pudding. When asked for more, told none left. Sausage pale and cold, eggs solid, dirty cups. Generally a very average stay with overpriced food and drinks in the bar area at night.

Bar staff wondering around with food aimlessly no idea where people were sitting - food was blamd and the ordered an eton mess that arrived with what pooked like cress was told by waitress all food comes with that ! Tasted awful

So upon check in at 3:30pm we were advised that the restaurant was fully booked. We were looking forward to a nice ribeye steak but were left with just the bar food options. Gutted. Went to our room to find there were 3 light bulbs not working, the telephone didn’t appear to dial out so if we needed anything would have to walk from the stable block at the back of the hotel in the rain to the reception. There were no tea making facilities although on the positive there was a fridge an iron a hairdryer and the room was clean and we eventually got the remote for the tv to work after taking the batteries out and back in again. We used the pool facilities- it looked dated - the pool cover was very well worn and ripped and looked a state. The steps at one side were taped off as broken the grill on the jacuzzi was broken. The jacuzzi itself was that hot when I got out I felt dizzy. Not a great experience. The reception called to offer us a slightly later than wanted slot in the restaurant which I thought was lovely but when I then asked to go ahead with it they said oh no sorry that time isn’t available (eh!!) so We ended up ordering a dominoes pizza delivery which the staff were absolutely fine about but we just had to eat in our room which was also not bad. To end the night the bed mattress you could feel the shape of the springs on it when lying down. Overall we think the hotel is dated and a bit run down in certain areas and we would not return in the future.

Our weekend was to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Had an evening meal in the main restaurant which was most enjoyable and to make the occasion more romantic the staff made our table up with balloons and bunting just made the evening surreal. We used the spa facilities which was superb. Our room was very spacious the bed was so so comfortable the bathroom clean and spacious. Plenty of coffee pods tea milk and water and oh yes coca cola. Overall a most enjoyable romantic weekend.

The stay was great. Rooms modern, with all facilities you needed for a pleasant stay. Beds were very comfortable, USB sockets very handy. The restaurant was superb, some of the best lamb I’ve ever had!

Nice stay, friendly staff on reception, very welcoming and helpful. Restaurant was full, so had to eat in the bar. Had rump steak, quite expensive (£19), but excellently cooked. Breakfast was good. I will stay again.

Lovley setting and interesting, characterful building. The spa was clean, quiet and relaxing. Food in the main dining room and at breakfast was excellent, but the bar meals left something to be desired. A very limited choice, along the burgers and chips variety, and what was served was not hot. Some rooms are in a seperate building, so take a raincoat to get to breakfast. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but in the annex the showers were tempermental. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our break and would happily return.

Pleasant enough hotel check in not very helpful no information about the hotel other than where the room was. Not very clear at booking that it wasn’t a half board package, as booked, but actually bed & breakfast with a £25 contribution to dinner (which didn’t go very far) Dinner and breakfast were okay apart from sunny D at breakfast, a quality hotel with no fresh orange juice was a bit disappointing

Excellent restaurant. Had a superb evening meal. Good offering for breakfast too. Lovely, comfy bed.

Staff were great, very professional, hotel had plenty of character, breakfast and evening meals were very tasty but both could of done with being a bit warmer, overall a great stay and we will be returning
