Plenty of very handy parking.

Lovely room and fittings. Good spot too. Sad no longer they have a working reception and bar. A sign of the times.

Great hotel but it really depends on which room you book. The basic rooms are just that. I stay regularly and find it suits my needs. Occasionally, when the hotel is quiet, you have to phone a mobile number, to get someone to open up reception when you check in. That wasn’t the case in this visit. Good breakfast (cooked is an extra charge) and friendly staff. There is no longer a bar or restaurant in the hotel.

Individual rooms, set around gardens. Reasonable cost

Great place to stay for travelling into and out of London. Nice room (spacious) everything you need for a short or extended stay. Couldn’t fault it. Parking is a bonus 👍

Nice American style lodge/model with rooms opening direct to car park. Bathroom appeared to be recently renovated , good shower. Was baking when I stayed and no aircon. Good basic conti breakfast included with cooked at a fair price. Very friendly but no conventional reception/bar/restaurant.

Basic, good value accommodation. You might have to wait a while as check in is not manned. Not so much fun in the winter.

Easy check in and Room 15 allocated . Bigger than normal but there was no WiFi coverage there. One of the hotel entrances is shut off so entry and exit is straight into the junction with London Rosd - needs care. Otherwise all was well as usual

The property looks very nice and there was sufficient parking. Weird check-in procedure: park, call the number in your confirmation email and then wait until the duty manager(?) comes out, tells you which room you’ve been allocated, hands you a key and leaves you standing there. This appears to be a hangover from the pandemic, as does the text of the confirmation email, although none of the staff was masked. The room was adequate, but not special, which is ok for the price in Hertfordshire. There was free Wi-Fi. The tv had a very short list of programmes, but that didn’t matter because it thought it was showing programmes for lunchtime on the following day, so evening shows were unavailable. The en-suite shower room was clean with complimentary toiletries and nice fluffy towels. The water pressure was excellent. Other amenities: hairdryer, iron & ironingboard, trouser press, kettle and drink fixings. With windows closed, the room itself wasn’t as noisy as I’d feared, being situated alongside a very busy road, but it was quite warm on the two nights I stayed and to get any sleep I had to close them when I went to bed. No a/c. The mattress was past its best and when I stripped it before I left, I found it very stained. Yuk. A continental breakfast is included in the price and a cooked breakfast costs a small additional sum. The ladies who served breakfast were friendly and accommodating. The baked goods weren’t fresh. Defrosted? Not the best, nor yet the worst.

Boxmoor Lodge could be fantastic but please do not believe the pictures shown about this property as it's not. Unfortunately the property was a total let down, far below the standards we expected when booking this accommodation. In short there was mould on the door. Door curtain falling off rail. Sofa frayed at bottom. What looked like blood stains on duvet and long bed throw. Mattress protector so stained it showed through bed sheet. Both bedside lights did not work. 1 packet of biscuits and 1 hot chocolate despite there being 2 of us. No plug for bath. Old broken toilet roll holder was still on the wall with new one next to it. Glass missing in bathroom shelf. Toilet stained. Other guests rubbish found in hairdryer drawer. Hairdryer on wall was due for pat testing in 2008 by looks of it. Shower head sprays in all directions and its holder is broken. Shower door seal black, shower hose grimey and covered in limescale. What looked like nail glue on table. Picture had broken plastic front. Bedside unit that had a "radio" did not work and had knob missing, obviously for aesthetic purposes only. Room was way to hot even with radiator off. Hairs, dust and cobwebs everywhere. Generally tired decor in room. Continental breakfast was a bit lacking, had to ask if they did croissants and pastries as was only offered toast by server, only had croissants no pastries. The only good part of the stay was the bed was comfy but in all totally disappointed and will not recommend or be back.

Spotlessly clean rooms, warm, comfortable with excellent quality towels etc. superb breakfast, and very friendly staff. I highly recommend this accommodation.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The bedding was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The welcome tray was filled with tea, coffees, biscuits & milk. The bathroom was very clean, shower gels provided and the towels were soft and very clean. The continental breakfast was plentiful and there was the option of having a full cooked breakfast too. We were greeted by very polite and friendly people.

Mouldy bathroom with cracked tiles, broken showerhead. Room incredibly tiered and didn't have the facilities advertised such as A/C. Checked me into a room not ready. Damaged walls and furniture. Thin pillows and cheap mattress. Only used as a 1 night as its close to the station but would not use again.

I arrived in the early evening, to be greeted by a closed reception and a number on the door to call. I did so, but could hardly hear the woman who answered as a small child was screaming very close to her phone. I had to ask three times what my room number was, before being able to hear the. number 16. Not very professional. I went to the room, to find it smelling very musty. All the soft furnishings and the carpet looked and smelled as though they had not been cleaned for a very long time, although at least the sheets were clean, and it was obvious that some previous guest had been smoking in the room. There was a loud noise of rushing water coming from the bathroom, and I found that the toilet was running continuously instead of filling up the cistern. I had no desire to ring and listen to the screaming child again, and being a handy type of person, I fetched some tools from my car and fixed the cistern. The next morning I went to the breakfast room (breakfast finished strangely early at 9am) and informed the lady there of the problem with the toilet. She wasn't very interested. I can't comment on the cooked breakfast as I didn't have one. The coffee was passable. After returning home I emailed the hotel and requested a small partial refund due to the problems listed above, then emailed again a week later, but they have not had the courtesy to reply. All in all, a very disappointing stay, and I would recommend Boxmoor Lodge to no one. This is a true account of my experienc

Easy telephone check in. Attractive chalet style lodges. Room was quiet and parking close to room. Toiletries, tea making facilities, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Good breakfast and attentive staff. . We had room 3 which was in need of full refurbishment and smelt musty. Very dated furniture and bathroom. Bed was lumpy, Chair fell apart, tea cup chipped. Would stay again in one of their updated rooms.

Overall a nice looking property but room felt a bit dated but everything worked . I had numerous attemts trying to get the wifi to work and that was the most annoying part . The breakfast and friendly staff was very good .

Booked late, always been thought of as a nice place down to a wedding reception a few years ago. On arrival the parking and grounds are well maintained. There is temporary metal fencing cordening off a part near reception, the exterior is showing wear and tear a few missing roof tiles probably not helped with moss. Our room looked very dated, although the bathroom more modern. Furniture was old and tired but useable Beds comfy, plenty of tea n coffee. The inside of the front door looked like the wet weather had got into it. A few water marks on ceiling if bathroom. And cobwebs in the main room. In my opinion the £88 was a little high for what we got. It just needs a little tlc, it's the small improvements that will bring it back to former glories

An absolute massive room with a large en-suite. Everything was really tidy and clean. Continental breakfast was superb too.

Perfect little place to stay. Our room was immaculate and spotless. Only tiny criticism is a bigger bed would have been good - felt like a small double/queen size.

A cosy room with amazing underfloor heating in the bathroom! I could have stayed in there all night!

We stopped one night at Boxmoor Lodge. The room was comfy and clean, more like a motel in layout. Good bathroom and shower. Everything was as little dated and communication could have been better. Reception is by telephone and then the key is brought to you. A simple continental breakfast is included. All of this information came in an email that arrived at 1am after we had already arrived. Road and train noise can be heard during the night, as well as a guest coming back at 3am to their room above.. Just needs a bit of TLC and wouild be so much better.

Staff extremely convivial. Being partially immobile I required additional help, which was gladly given by all staff.

Great place. V clean and comfortable. Unfortunately I made a mistake and double booked one night. Was Promised a refund for the mistake despite the no refund policy but sadly no follow through and still haven’t received any refund.

Would have preferred check in to be in person rather than telephone check in. I don't recall seeing this advertised, so perhaps it should be highlighted. It did work fine though... despite the traffic noise which made hearing difficult. Room was a bit tired, but all the essentials were there and were fine. Breakfast was good and service was goof.

Good hotel with excellent continental breakfast. We chose it as being the only hotel on the west side of Hemel Hempstead, close to our family, and for its reasonable pricing. The delivery of keys at reception was fast, and they made every effort to find us a ground floor room to avoid their stairs. Very helpful staff.

Breakfast service is personalized and included free with the booking for continental breakfast and additional fees for warm to order breakfast. 10 minutes walk to the train station and good diners. If you want a place to park your car for free with your stay and train ride to the city then this is perfect for you.

Excellent place to stay to either explore the local area, or for Luton Airport which is very close. Great value for money. Highly recommend

Excellent location , ticking all the boxes for what we needed : very close to train station , excellent walking and running routes along the canal and sufficient pubs/restaurants close by to suit our needs. All the local people we met were very friendly and helpful. Thank you Hemel Hempstead for a fabulous weekend

An easy drive to get to warner brothers studio. Our room was large and clean, the continental breakfast was plentiful. The cooked breakfast wasnt included but it was very well priced.

Room was pleasingly large. The lack of a staffed reception is no problem but a mobile phone is essential to reach them on arrival. Continental breakfast meets the norms and offers porridge as well. The overall feel is of a quite run down hotel, having closed its bar and other facilities - now more a motel . Good value and very close to the station.

We had an amazing stay and I have two exceptionally happy girls. I left information stating that my two girls have coeliac disease and can’t eat gluten. Not only was I reassured that there was toast and fried breakfast available prepared separately. The staff came out with muffins and croissants. Which the girls didn’t realise were all gluten free. I never seen my girls faces light up so much, to be able to eat like everyone else. Thank you the girls have never had that experience before.

I left a message saying both my girls have a coeliac disease, which means they can’t eat gluten. I was reassured that they could have toast and a cooked breakfast. That they used separate toasters to stop cross contamination. The girls were over the moon when they were given a plate of continental food too, just like everyone else! They have never had this care from anywhere else. They were so amazed and happy. The girls also loved that they had their own little cottage style room to themselves. This is the second time we have been to this hotel and we would definitely come back again.
