Motel Santa Cruz

The room was ok for the one night we stayed. There was no wash cloths or hand towels or bath mat. No blow dryer, it did have frig and microwave. I didnt see a ice maker No usb plugs . It was very close to 7 11 and restaurants.

Great for the price. Front desk staff are really nice and friendly. We stayed 3 nights this is more of a one night place. No coffee maker or hair dryer. Weird noise in the walls at night. Good location for the beaches and walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops. Gate for the parking lot got closed on one side at night which was comforting. Although the neighborhood is ok. Some loud street noise on Saturday night but not bad the rest of our stay. Building needs maintenance.

Motel Santa Cruz is an average motel with its own set of pros and cons, depending on your needs and preferences. The staff is friendly, and it feels like a family-owned business. The room was clean but very small. We booked a room for 4 adults, and it felt quite tight—it was hard to move around without bumping into each other. What I liked about the room is that it included a mini fridge and a microwave, which are convenient. However, the parking lot can be tricky if you arrive late, especially when the motel is fully booked. On the plus side, there are plenty of dining options and fast-food restaurants within walking distance. The motel is also very close to the boardwalk—it’s walkable if you don’t mind the distance and want to save on parking fees. I would consider booking here again if traveling with 2 people or fewer, but for larger groups, the space may feel too cramped.

The parking spaces are super small and compacted. the parking lot was always full I had to ask for permission to park in front of the lobby that was in between the entrance and other parked cars.

It was just a small tiny room. No amenities, coffee pot, tables, ice machine, nothing. Property was noisy because of being on the main strip. I get what I paid for, I guess!

Staff was friendly enough. Within an hour our TV quit working. They sent a repairman, but it only lasted for about another 30 minutes. Room condition was a little rough. Other people‘s hair in the shower. No bedbugs or any other type of insects. Room didn’t smell. No coffee available on site. They did promptly return my deposit after we departed. I was happy about that.

The barroom looked like it was briefly cleaned with boogers still on the wall. Shower didn’t looked scrubbed. Only gave one towel. the bed was very uncomfortable along with pillows. Walls are really thin so could hear upstairs and neighbors. Parking was limited so I suggest you don’t leave once you have parking. Location was good 10-15 walk to boardwalk. 711 across street. Overall it was okay. It was just one night and we just needed sleep.

I usually don’t expect much from lower cost hotels but at $230 this place felt like a $60 per night hotel. The room stunk of cigarette smoke , was not in good shape, just didn’t feel clean, noisy. I had low expectations, but this place came in well below them.

The motel should be delisted from Expedia. The condition of the motel feels like haunted. Spider webs were every where-along the hallways and stairs. The room supposed to be non-smoking but had heavy smoking smell. The bed sheet was not changed from last use, hairs and dirty spots were found on the bed sheet; the door has a quite big gap between the door frame; the AC unit works sometimes.

I had to purchase some bed sheets in order to sleep on the bed. It seemed dirty. They supposedly had cleaned the room before we arrived. They left such a puddle leading into the sink area by the bathroom that we almost fell. Also the room smelled of pee so bad. We had to go buy lysol spray and that didnt help at all. Our room door didnt even close right that you can hear every sound. You must park right or youll get hit by the person parking next to you. I wouldnt recommend staying here.

One idea is keeping your room clean because when we got to the hotel it was dirty and the sheets of the bed were dirty and torn with visible holes and the room smelled very bad.

Had to deal with bed bugs in the room. Not a very good stay nor a comfortable place because of the lack of cleanliness.

Unsanitary place with brown stained bedsheets, walls, bath tub, and towels. Smelled very bad like urine and cigarettes when we walked in. Smoking outside smell went inside non-smoking room. Bathroom was worst of all— very dirty. Was only provided with 2 small stained towels.

Don’t let the photos fool you. The room was incredibly small. Two double beds with a small table in between, a small fridge with microwave on top and another small table with phone. No chest of drawers or bench where you can set a suitcase or open it up. Just too tight for 3 people.

Not bad for a one night stay. But cold showers didn’t help either. And the location of our room we could hear the cars driving by.

The room seemed new and upgraded. The two queen beds sat on metal bed box frames so any adjusting on the bed came with lots of metal clanking. Which was pretty disruptive to sleep.

The motel is basic and located on a noisy street--the evening we spent the night was rife with motorcyclists rev bombing. The blackout curtains weren't enough to block streetlights and nightlife revelers. Rooms could use a lot more updating. The pillows could use replacing but the mattress was pretty comfortable.

The location to the boardwalk was fine. The room its self could've been better. The mattresses were bigger than the headboard which was weird, pillows were so thin that they were uncomfortable. Booked room for 2 queen beds for 4 people and had only 2 bath towels that were bare thin. The noise was loud till late as it was right off the road (so no insulation in the room). The bathroom door handle was hanging loosely off the door and there were a couple of dirty napkins and hair on the floor when you shut the room door after going in. The dresser was missing a knob and had scratches all over it. The highlight was that the bathroom appeared to have been remodeled. No amenities were available in the room. For the cost of the room at $332, I would've at least have thought it would've been a nicer room. I have stayed in a lot nicer places for a lot less with amenities and breakfast included, but I guess its because of the location it is in to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk/Beach.

I requested the first floor as I have problem going up stairs . He gave us right beside a busy street and you can hear all the noises. Internet was poor. The good thing is 7eleven is right across the street and other stores and restaurants. Place is clean and will stay in this motel again

Office staff was friendly and very accommodating!

We drove 12 hours that day and just needed a place to sleep to keep on driving the next day. The people next door were so loud, talking and screaming and singing with friends that even with ear plugs I could not sleep. Around 1am we tried to ask for the hotel's help but no one helped us. We even tried to talk to the loud people, nothing worked. Again, we just needed to sleep. We left around 3am and found another place to spend the night. Worse experience ever.

The the service was amazing, the manager was so helpful, I needed downstairs room, and Sabrina the manger upgraded our room, so we can have downstairs room, at no extra charge. The rooms was newly renovated and the bed was so comfortable. The rooms was very clean.

Idk where to start. So when you walk into the office you get hit with a HORRIBLE smell. The desk guy was young and you can tell that his mom was the manager. The mom was an older lady limping around the motel and screaming at everybody in a foreign language. I checked in after a weird encounter with the son and his mom. When I tried opening the room my key didn’t work so a cleaner next to me used his card to open my but this room was VERY UNSANITARY. (Refer to photos) The room had white powder on the floors and in between the flooring. The bathroom tub had soap scum all over it and the sink and mirror was never cleaned. The beds looked dirty and if im being completely honest with you, I was having a hard day today and when I walked in I instantly broke down into tears because I would’ve never thought a place could be this bad. I also had my puppy with me and I couldn’t bear the thought to bring her into this unsanitary room. So I walked back into the office the lady manager was screaming at the cleaners and they were being calm to her but she was so mean to everybody. She also never greeted her guests she didn’t even care to look at me and smile. When I walk back into the office to ask for a refund with they told me “since you booked with Expedia you need to talk to them and then we will issue you a refund” so I called Expedia and they said that they really tried to get me the refund but the property manager at this motel said no. I lost $300 dollars and they did not care.…….

Motel Santa Cruz is a nice, clean , family owned motel, it had cheapest rooms in town, newly renovated rooms, nice front desk, the manager, Sabrina was so helpful

Minimal care is put into this place, and it shows. See photo for a comical example. the clincher was coming back from the boardwalk at 10pm and the bathroom smelled like somebody had been hot-boxing cigarettes in there while we were gone. After some argument in the office, management finally agreed to come up. She agreed that it smelled like something burning, but refused to concede it smelled like cigarette smoke, opting to claim it smelled more like a smouldering electrical fire! Those are two unhealthy and unsafe options. I asked to be refunded and we would stay somewhere else. I even offered to pay for the half day (1pm - 10pm) that we had been there. She continually refused. After a half hour of her on the phone with Expedia, while I was on a chat with a separate Expedia agent, I was let out of my second night only! I was charged 216.33 for a room that was unsafe, and we didn't use, unbelievable. That's not how you treat people. My son and I had to leave this unhealthy environment after 11pm and find another place to stay. Highly recommend you look at Mission Inn if you've read this far.

It's not great but good for the price, Good location

Place was close to boardwalk, service was very nice. They accommodated the extra pillows needed for our family and they were super nice during check in. The only downside to this place was some of he other guests in the motel. Loud music and a lot of unique guests made it a little uncomfortable for our children. On a plus it is totally a great place to stay overnight on our trip through Santa Cruz. If you’re passing through. The rates are good, clean rooms, nice family management and close to walk everywhere. The front desk gave us a great room and there was enough space for our family. The couch pulls out into a bed so that was an extra nice perk. Also windows open we asked for a 3 rd floor room and we got one of the best rooms on the end. It was nice to see that a family can run a motel and take pride in their service and cleanliness of the rooms. We would stay again if we were passing through. Again it’s a motel not a hotel so it was what I expected and in many ways exceed our expectations. Only other suggestion to add would be if they had coffee makers for guests in the room.

The rooms themselves were on the smaller side, it is very close to the boardwalk and a busy road so it is very noisy throughout the night, updated bathroom and vanity/sink area that is very nice! Overall a pretty good stay for us!

After getting the room, I have to ask for towels and remote batteries. The noise from the street was unbearable. There was no amenities like coffee in the room, closet, chairs. There were people fighting in the hallway. For $200 a night, I would have rather stay at Motel 6!!
