Parking in the garage next door was easy, front desk and all staff helpful and super friendly! Food was good, drinks were great! The hotel is gorgeous and historic, but also super comfortable and clean. Only issue was the really long wait to get a drink at the bar on Saturday night, I understand they were extremely busy and working as hard as possible, but they needed more staff.

Fabulous old/classic hotel. Lovely place. The free shuttle was really nice to and from airport. It even took us to the theatre. Hope we can come back sometime.

Beautiful Historic hotel, with gorgeous architecture. Our room and bathroom were spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant in the lobby had excellent food and service- home of the “Hot Brown”, which I highly recommend! My husband and I felt the shuttle service offered by the hotel was exceptional. We utilized it to get to our dinner reservations, and for airport transfers. Every single staff member was amazingly friendly and helpful! Will definitely stay again when we return to Louisville

We love the hotel and I would have given 5 stars on everything except for the following things: - Valet parking is a nightmare ($70 and fairly) - Asked for an extra pillow and never received it. - There was a water ring on the nightstand that was easily removed. Showed me the top of the stand was not wiped down.

It’s a lovely old hotel, very clean and quiet. The bar was half closed every night so we could not sit and have a drink at the end of the day, seems odd on Kentucky Derby week that you would not have everything open and running at full capacity. Not much in the area for bars or patios or restaurants that you can walk to. We had to drive to other areas and pay for parking.

Beautiful, very elegantly appointed hotel built in 1923, with very attentive, helpful staff. I enjoyed a comfortable room, a tasty cocktail in their pleasant lobby with live piano music adding to the ambiance, and delicious breakfasts (including a petite Hot Brown, a local specialty) in their lovely restaurant. One great perk during our stay was the use of the hotel shuttle van. Not only did they pick us up from the airport, but they also provided rides to and from nearby restaurants and museums. Though it wasn't required, we made sure to tip the drivers. I will gladly stay at this property again!

Excellent stay at the Brown Hotel. Nice location, Beautiful Hotel and restaurant. Loved the rooftop for sunset. Very impressed with all of the staff who made you feel very welcome. Valets were great as well and helpful. Only slight downside for us was that bed was a little firm for our taste. Everything else about this hotel was excellent for us.

Property was lovely and hope the owners would keep it up to the standards of the original hotel. Some of the areas definitely showed signs of destress where maintenance was needed, dust was on the windowsill, furniture, on lamps and especially the downstairs lobby entrance. Would love to see this historic hotel brought back to its prime.

I have never stayed anywhere this dirty. We were given multiple rooms and each one was worse than the last — snails crawling around, bugs on the mattresses, and a general feeling of neglect. They even gave us the wrong room at one point. The night staff, especially Jane, was the embodiment of the hotel itself: worn out, tired, and completely uninterested in helping. This was beyond disappointing.

The staff and valet were excellent and helpful and kind. The rooms however were a bit dusty and dingy. We had a light out in the bathroom. I understand this is a historic hotel but I do feel it could be better kept.

Hotel is very historical. The service at the restaurant is amazing. The live piano in the lobby- extremely nice touch. However our room felt very “unloved” and unkept. Cheap bedding and uncomfortable small pillows. Peeling wallpapers here and here ( not a major issue but noticeable ) Shower was renovated but bathroom had moisture stains on the ceiling. Housekeeping: Mirror had fingerprints and shower floor had hair upon check in. Hairdryer was old, nasty ( human hair and wax/ dirt all over the it), and broken ( they replaced it promptly upon request) We had 1 robe for 2 people. Were we supposed to share? Our room was cleaned once during the 3 day stay after we called the front desk for fresh towels. I don’t know if we missed a memo somewhere that you need to ask for service every time. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was definitely some of the best we've had! And our waiter Chris was attentive and had a great sense of humor and made our night very enjoyable. The room was clean and spacious only complaint I have is the bed was not very comfortable and not memory foam but a traditional mattress where you could feel every single movement during the night which is a downside for us because my hubby and I toss and turn a lot and we are used to a softer memory foam bed. Amy at check in was delightful and helpful and so was the lady at check out but I didn't catch her name. So other than the mattress our stay was wonderful and I'd definitely stay here again especially if they upgrade the mattresses.

Great location, staff, and bar/restaurant! Our concerns were the noise coming off the street at night. The windows are clearly thin (old building) and we heard loud exhausts all night, which work us several times. I would request an interior room. Also the toilet would run loudly. We had to jiggle the handle to make it stop.

This is a historic hotel, so expect some “wear and tear.” First clue it was not going to be great was when we pulled up and two security guards were stationed at the door vs doorman. The room needs full redo, aside from bathroom which was obviously updated recently. Carpet old; bed was broken…everytime you moved even slightly, the springs creaked. Neither my husband nor I slept at all.

The room had uneven AC and was very humid, bedside plug-ins were not working, bathroom sink was clogged, lighted mirror burned out. Arrived late and mostly fixed the AC by climbing on a chair and adjusting the vent that was 7’ off the ground. Reported the other items the next morning with mixed results—at checkout two days later the sink was still clogged. On the other hand, the room was expansive, carpet and wallpaper in good shape, marble shower was stunning. And the common areas were simply beautiful. It was also a very convenient location and the food was excellent. Service was also hit-or-miss. Check-in desk staff was great, waiter at dinner was knowledgeable and charming, but had way too many tables and we were left hanging. Witnessed a loud and prolonged argument between two bellmen that extended into the hotel and then back out again.

Beautiful lobby and high end dining room and bar. Rooms were from the 90s and spring beds from the 80s. Staff was very friendly but I wouldn't stay again unless the beds were upgraded. Extremely uncomfortable.

Great ambience inside the hotel, but not much in the immediate area to walk to. Staff was fantastic - Josh the valet and Trina in the lobby restaurant were particularly helpful and friendly!

We had a wonderful stay at the Brown Hotel. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Great experience at the restaurant. The server was excellent and the Hot Brown awesome. The property is older and beautiful. The room was very spacious and appeared clean. Our problem occurred when the valet gave us the wrong key fob. He INSISTED it was correct and refused to make sure it was correct when we requested he do so. We were an hour down the road when we received a text saying we had indeed had the wrong fob. We were forced to turn around and return to the hotel. No phone call from the manager! No apologies from the valet ( he ran when he saw us). Meanwhile we are 2 delayed by 2 hours and 150 miles. They did say on by the way we won’t charge you for the valet parking. We reached out to the manager who was unavailable (shocker). I will not be back.

The historical hotel was gorgeous. The front check in staff was wonderful, offering recommendations for dining & things to do. We were greeted in our room with an A/C noise issue , which was addressed immediately with an option to change rooms. Great maintenance guy!

This is a top tier hotel that we’ve stayed at many times and always received stellar service. This time the person that checked us in was less than welcoming and made us feel like we were inconveniencing them, which is not the type of service we’ve come to expect from The Brown. Later that night our group of 8 and another smaller group were seated in the lobby to talk and a staff person told us we had to leave the lobby because the bar was closing. We weren’t in the bar and weren’t being particularly loud. There are no other public gathering places and none of our rooms could seat 8 people comfortably. None of our party had ever been asked to leave a hotel lobby and both groups were very surprised that this happened at a hotel that is normally so accommodating. Hopefully the hotel will address the issues and our next stay will be back to the usual standards.

The Brown Hotel is my favorite place to stay in Louisville. My girlfriend and I stay there at least once a month. I love every aspect of this hotel except for the way I was treated both times at the lobby bar. Both bartenders on the last two occasions were extremely rude to me and my girlfriend. After talking to the manager, he informed me it was 12 and not 11 like I was previously told.

Bartender on the smaller side completely ignored me x 15 minutes, while sitting at the bar, so we just left. He was too busy chatting up two girls. Seriously terrible service. Unfortunately, he was our last employee experience of the night and that is the lasting experience we took with us.

Property is beautiful. You are transported back in time when you enter. Lobby bar is beautiful and staff were great. I just found that the location was a bit off the beaten track and we had to do a lot of walking to and from the hotel to see the sites.

I love this hotel. The restaurant is delicious, and the building is gorgeous. The staff was very friendly. My only complaint is that the area seems very run down and unsafe which is not the fault of the hotel. When you walk a couple blocks down, it’s fine.

Parking in the garage next door was easy, front desk and all staff helpful and super friendly! Food was good, drinks were great! The hotel is gorgeous and historic, but also super comfortable and clean. Only issue was the really long wait to get a drink at the bar on Saturday night, I understand they were extremely busy and working as hard as possible, but they needed more staff.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is great. I enjoyed it. It was disappointing that they didn’t offer breakfast. We tried to even buy breakfast and they didn’t open till 8AM.

Such a gorgeous hotel with amazing food and friendly staff. Felt like we were living in luxury. The hotel has beautiful architecture and our room was cozy. The dinner restaurant was romantic and delicious. The breakfast/brunch buffet was the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend. A wonderful experience.

Due to a late event, and only one night stay, we weren't able to indulge in the Hot Brown. The kitchen doesn't stay open late. I especially loved that we were required to use the key entry pad, in the elevator, to access our floor very VIP.
