SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown/River North

I LOVED MY STAY and I loved my view! BUT I didnt realize this was 2 hotels in 1 building, so they share the breakfast buffet AND its ALWAYS packed with ALOT of families. Theres a bar and the happy hour is necessary because the cocktails "yes delicious" but your paying $16 for it. Pros: 1)Close to everything. 2)Amazing floor to ceiling view from the 16th floor. 3)Delicious cocktails, the guy who prepared the food was amazing and very highquality service at the counter 4)Water pressure in the shower was EXCELLENT and all glass so that was cool Cons: 1) Shower was AMAZING however there is a gap at the bottom of the glass shower when the door closes and yeah....WATER everywhere so yes you sacrific towels. 2) They dont do housekeeping everyday, they only do it if you stay 3 days or longer. The lady didnt do housekeeping on my 3rd day, she kept knocking the door for 2 minutes even after I said come in. Then she ASKED me if i needed service or not, put me in an awkward position, so if i wasnt here in the room, would I have gotten service or she would have left if nobody answered? 3) There are 2 seperate elevators just to get to your room. It was exhausting because you have NO CHOICE but to take both the elevators. Security precaution I assume thats why the lobby is on the 2nd floor. 4) This is the first hotel that ive been to that you cant get ice on your own. The ice is in a freezer in the convenience market they have on the lobby level. But you have to go UP AND DOWN the elevator

Parking garage access available with daily fee. On your check in day, bring your parking ticket to the front desk and they will validate it. You will get in and out access thru the day you check out. The sensor will read your license plate and let you in and out. It's expensive but seems safer compared to other pay parking garages nearby. Breakfast included. Has onsite laundry and gym but we didnt use. Sometimes it got a little stuffy in the room, just adjust AC to your liking. Very walkable to nearby restaurants and shopping. Would not mind staying here again.

Parking at this hotel is a problem. Charges are high and it is not convenient at all. I had to use multiple elevators to go from the parking garage to my room. Very annoying.

No pool, but pretty hotel and room.

Nice room for rates. Within walking distance of river and dining. Elevators were extremely slow and because its attached to Residence Inn the lobby was very congested over the weekend.

I liked the lobby on the 2nd floor and the attached parking lot.

Rooms were good sized and beds were comfy! Loved that everything was spread out in the room. Staff was great. Bar staff was awesome!

3 elevators. That's all. When you're trying to get to breakfast or checkout taking the stairs was the best option. Thank goodness we only had to walk down 4 flights. Staff was friendly. Bed was comfortable.

We got the corner room and the views are awesome! Booked online the day of and had no problems with anything. But what we didn't like was online said there was a pool here and the kids were excited to swim but no pool.

The staff at the Downtown River North Chicago Springhill Suites made my 8-day stay so enjoyable that I almost did not want to leave. The onsite bar served the best wings, waffle fries, and ice cream I had tasted. The room service was exceptional. I am particular about where I stay and what I eat. Only complaint I had was the bath towels had blood and yellow stains on them. I called the concierge to have towels replaced there was no answer. Had to go out and buy towels next day. And on last day we found 2 bed bugs/ticks on our headboard. Sadly will not return to this hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly.

Location very good. Staff is great! Very courteous, and very helpful. Floors were bathroom not very clean, Rug in sleeping area grimey. Very noisy room; can hear every word in adjacent guest room. Glad to check out.

Pros: Excellent location with easy access to downtown Chicago, easy self-parking options, extremely comfortable bed and pillows. Cons: Very dated property with interior finishes in common areas and the rooms really needing a refresh and update. Felt dark and dingy. Bathroom exhaust fan was completely ineffective to remove shower steam and bathroom odors, which made the room unpleasant. Plus, the grout in the shower area was covered in red mold or mildew. The coffee maker in the room did not work.

This hotel was in a great location. Just a couple blocks from Michigan avenue, with so much to do everywhere. Great restaurants and shopping very close. Only a 15 minute walk to the Bean, 15-20 minute walk to Navy Pier, 15-20 minute walk to 360 Chicago at the John Hancock building. So many great things to see as you walk to your destination. Seems like a very safe area. Hotel was very nice and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very clean, very friendly, and perfectly priced. Close to restaurants and the River Walk. The free breakfast was standard fare, albeit okay. Overall, I would recommend staying here!

Dirty and Filthy. The room was horrific and disgusting. Hair was left on the lotion bottle and the bathtub had brown dirt in the tub. My daughters were unable to shower and use the bathroom. This is unacceptable for the price and location of the property. Horrible.

It was a good experience great breakfast, nice bar. But room cleanliness was poor. The bathub was clogged, they fixed it immediately. Bed cover was stained, they clean the room but didn’t take the trash like pizza box and others

Very poor on clean, bathroom with mold at the shower, and you can see the lack of maintenance too. Pillows stink horribly. Staff excellent service, breakfast area very good! Is a little disappointed ,I was expecting something more clean!

Loved staying at this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was pretty good even with bars near by. We had a 10ish minute walk to the Christkind market. That was nice to just hang and get some food and Christmas ornaments. We were like a mile or a little over a mile to a bunch of things to do. We walked to some. I will say there must be a fire station near by cuz we heard them quite a bit. Friday night was not crazy but Saturday night I could hear people in the streets till early in the morning. Maybe on a higher floor you don’t hear as much. We were on 11. Our flight didn’t leave till late at night, but we were able to leave our bags for the day so we didn’t have to carry them everywhere. Overall great hotel. I would stay again.

The property is clean, close to tons of things to do in downtown Chicago, and staff was friendly and accommodating. Two issues, 1st parking is $75 pretty pricey and the couch/ pullout bed is not comfortable at all. Both hard as a rock. I totally forgot that I had stayed in the Springhill suites Chinatown last summer and their couch / pullout bed was also super hard. If you don't need those, I 100% recommend these hotels for the locations, cleanliness, and complementary breakfast.

We had stayed at this hotel several times and the rooms were always really big. This time they put us in a small room. Desk was all chipped, bed frame was in bad condition as well. The bathroom counter was so small that I couldn’t put my make up bag on it. I looked for a hair drier and it was in the desk’s drawer, because there was no space in the bathroom. My husband and I got our nose plugged as soon as we entered the room. Something triggered our allergies. We will not be staying at this hotel again! The hotel rooms need to be updated! As a positive comment, staff was very nice!

The hotel’s location was great due to all the restaurants and attractions within walking distance. The hotel and room was clean. The staff was friendly. Only issue I had was the room door did not connect all the way to the floor so we heard everything when people walking down the hallway.

My wife and I travel to Chicago frequently for concerts and shows, and decided to try this hotel. The room is really nice: comfortable and well-designed. The pillows weren't great, but that's not too uncommon. But come night, sleep was very difficult. Even though we were on the 12th floor, the street noise kept me awake until 5am: constant horns, motorcycles, and fire sirens (a fire station is about 50 yards away). Clearly, better windows are needed! None of the other Chicago hotels I frequent have had this problem. Come morning, the free breakfast, especially the warm foods, was one of the worst I've had. To be honest, I was a bit embarrassed, because the tables around us were filled with Europeans visiting Chicago, and even low-end properties in Europe (including those owned by Marriott) provide an amazing breakfast buffett with a wide variety of pastries and freshly cooked foods. Why do we put up with this? I wasn't surprised by the number of plates full of food that I saw thrown away. After trying to eat, we just left and got breakfast elsewhere. (The coffee, however, was not too bad, if you want one positive note on the experience.)

Greeted wonderfully, great room- spacious with plenty of room for 3. Very nice, laid back, relaxed feeling throughout our stay

Check in was easy however the Wi-Fi kept freezing. The pull out sofa bed felt as if u were sleeping on the rails. The pillows were super flat. Didn’t enjoy sleeping the whole stay

Decent area. Very comfortable bed and pillows. No security safe in the room which was very odd given it's 2023.

We got into Chicago well before check in time. Emily was at the counter and checked us in. She was able to pre-check in our rooms so that when we came back we basically just needed to get keys. She was wonderful. She was helpful, professional and great to work with. Overall our stay was great. Hotel was nice, clean, decent breakfast, great location.

We were there for a concert. We stay here every time we come to Chicago, and it never disappoints! The staff is very attentive and helpful. Everything is clean and updated. Safe friendly atmosphere. The convenience of on site parking is fabulous! Great location as well.

Great from a location perspective. Right in the middle of River North and near train stations. Great breakfast buffet. Rooms are modern and clean. My only complaint is they have a stupid policy on early check in (even if your room is ready) that if you try to check in before 2pm they will charge you. I arrived 30 mins prior and they tried to charge me $30 so I had to wait 30 mins even though my room was ready. Quick easy grab from a corporate organization trying to get a few more bucks. Made my experience sour as the front desk was not willing to budge.

Walkable to several attractions. Near restaurants we had been to or wanted to try. Desk staff very friendly and helpful. Jessica checked us in and due to car trouble was able to suggest a tow company. Super happy with our choice and the staff was excellent. Highly recommend

Clean, safe, peaceful, stylish. Excellent breakfast bar. Excellent staff. Big shout out to Jay and Conrad of the bell desk! They treated us like family. We truly had a wonderful stay and would recommend to everyone.

They were overbooked and didn't honor our booking from expedia telling that you have booked through 3rd party it was 12 in midnight then the manager arranged our stay at Hyatt. I need the whole money back for my stay as we were completely lost in the middle of night on where to take my family in unknown city

Staff was very helpful and professional. Our stay was perfect.

Staff was super friendly. Rooms and other areas were clean and breakfast was great. Only gripe was the bottleneck at check-in and in the lobby. It got really backed up.

This hotel was rated 9.0 on Hotels.com; however, I disagree! The Valet service did not offer to help unload bags or offer a cart for my pregnant daughter. I thought that was rude! The complimentary breakfast was unacceptable! A couple of the food trays were empty. The foods available did not appear appetizing. The four elevators were extremely slow. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable & the room was clean.

The location was great..few minute walk to Riverwalk area, The "L"...loved the hotel, the area restaurants, the sites, the vibe!

Great spot to access Restaurants, Bars, and many attractions. Nice walk to Millennium Park, the Waterfront, and the Museum. We parked the car in the garage and walked everywhere with exception of taking an Uber to and from The United Center for a concert.

We loved our stay. In the heart of the River North district, this property is an easy walk to most downtown attractions with plenty of nearby dining and nightlift.

Right in the middle of all the shopping and restaurants Walkable to everything, didn’t use car once in 3 days Train station 2 blocks away as well

Good breakfast and quiet place to rest

Very clean and quiet. We had a corner room with two large windows facing two directions and it was an amazing view. It was a great location, and staff was great. The free breakfast was wonderful to have and a decent variety but could have used some more muffins and real sausage and maybe a waffle machine. Happy overall.

This hotel was affordable and our family of 5 was able to share one suite. Parking was attached to the hotel and it seemed safe for being right downtown. The bed was also comfortable and room was clean. Staff were helpful. My big complaint was the noise from the street was so loud. I could hear what sounded like people drag racing on the block outside until about 5am. The city noise was ridiculous even with a sound machine. We were on the 5th floor so maybe higher would have been better. Also, the breakfast choices were odd. There was definitely not enough food for the amount of people staying there and they need to stick to the basics. The choices they had were just kind of funky. Overall it was fine just be aware of these potential issues.

The hotel was convenient and in a great location. The breakfast was horrible, one morning they served Pepperoni as the only breakfast meat. Very disappointed that we had to go out to grab breakfast when I was anticipating breakfast at the hotel.
