We loved our stay at the Fortezza. The views from our room were magnificent!! The town is lovely to stroll around and we had some delicious food at the restaurant the hotel recommended. I took a night time tour to some local caves that was very interesting I thought the drive up to drop off our luggage was pretty fun! Very steep with a couple tight turns. The free parking area is close enough to bring luggage from if you don’t want to drive the steep way. I did have a little trouble finding it. Breakfast was amazing!

ao chegarmos fomos surpreendidos com muita distancia entre o estacionamento e a entrada do hotel,,,nao foi avisado no site do hotel sobre esse acesso dificil,,,tb na recepcao houve uma entrega de quarto com muitas escadas estreitas e perigosas para acessar mesmo com pouca bagagem...o proprio quarto tinha escada para o banheiro...muito pequeno e nao tao limpo,,,ao questionarmos na recepcao nao fomos bem atentidos...o cafe da manha precisava ser agendado e tinha poucas opcoes...

Dieser Aufenthalt hat uns in jeder Hinsicht positiv überrascht. Bei unserer Reise Anfang Mai haben wir einen für uns versteckten Schatz, nicht überlaufen, viel zu bieten in Hinsicht auf super Bad für eine Burg, tolles Frühstück, Aussicht, Ruhe, Individualität und ausgesprochen engagiertes Personal mit tollen Freizeitangeboten, vorgefunden. Wir haben das E Bike genutzt, die in der Aktivity Rate enthaltene Wanderung gemacht, zu der wir gefahren wurden und einen einzigartigen mittelalterlichen Weinkeller besichtigen dürfen. Das ist nur ein Teil der angebotenen Möglichkeiten. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis war dabei wirklich gut! Man kann am Tage gemütlich auf dem Burghof in der Sonne sitzen und wird mit frischen Getränken und Snacks verwöhnt. Alles in allem ein toller Aufenthalt. Dankeschön!

We stayed one night and were enchanted with the fortress turned hotel in the heart of Sorano. Our room had amazing views of the surrounding town, the breakfast had fantastic coffee and a wide assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries. The owners tour of the underground wine cellars and wine making process capped off with a tasting was informative and delicious.

Un luogo praticamente fiabesco, con una vista stupenda. Personale gentilissimo e disponibile. Ottima colazione. Il parcheggio vicinissimo all'entrata della fortezza, ad ogni modo vengono inviate tutte le indicazione. C'è anche la possibilità di cenare e di fare degustazioni.

Tolle Location in einer alten Festung. Verständlicherweise keine eigenen Parkplätze aber fussläufig - auch mit Gepäck erreichbar. Frühstück war sehr gut. Zimmer sehr romantisch aber leider ohne Klimaanlage. Ventilatoren wurden gestellt, waren aber eher laut und mussten ständig laufen. Leider hat sich das WLAN jeden Tag mehrmals verabschiedet. Es gibt einen Burghof mit Sitzmöglichkeiten aber z.B. keine Bar oder zumindest einen Automaten.

한국인이 잘 방문하지 않는 작은 소도시에 위치한 호텔입니다. 저는 하프보드로 신청하여 저녁, 조식 모두 맛있게 먹었습니다. 도시 자체에는 할게 있지는 않지만 여행중에 충분히 휴식 할 수 있었어요 고성에서 숙박하는 멋진 경험이였고 저희방(스위트로 업글됨) 난로도 있어서 불멍도 했어요 고성이여서 어쩔 수 없는 부분은 엘레베이터는 없어요 하지만 1개층 내외여서 짐 이동은 큰 문제 없지 않을까합니다 와이파이는 잘 안되었는데 도시 자체가 인터넷이 잠깐씩 끊기는것 같아요 다시 올거냐하면 무조건 다시와서 한 일주일 아무생각없이 맛있는 조식-저녁 먹으면서 쉬다 가고싶어요!

This is a fortress as the name of the hotel implies. The rooms are in the Fortress Orsini. There is a parking lot that's about a 3-5 minute walk to the hotel (depending on how close to the hotel you park) but beware of maps on the iPhone. It indicated that I had to walk a lot farther, but when I called the hotel, they explained that I only had to walk a few minutes. The room was decent but since I sent in November, it was cool. The room had a radiator but I was informed that it was turned on only a couple times a day. So the room was not comfortable. Sleeping wasn't a problem because if it's a little cool, one can still stay warm. However, after a very long walk down to the city and back, I cam back to the hotel and it was very cold. And even when the heat was turned on, there was only a trickle of heat coming from the radiator. Be aware of this if you are traveling there during cold weather.

Struttura bellissima in un delizioso paesino caratteristico. Personale molto disponibile e comodo parcheggio a pochi metri dalla struttura. Esperienza assolutamente consigliata a tutti quanti vogliano provare un soggiorno in un vecchio castello.

Uns hat hier wirklich alles gefallen. Der Ort war wunderschön und charmant, das Personal aufmerksam und sehr freundlich und das Frühstück war auch sehr lecker. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und sauber. Ein rundum toller Aufenthalt mit Flair. Sehr zu empfehlen!!!

An absolutely amazing location, wonderful hosts and incredible food. Stunning views from the room, clean bathroom. Fantastic wine tour and tasting, very clear instructions regarding parking. The only thing we’d change is a fan or some air con though we fully appreciate that might not be possible due to the historic nature of the building. It was a little too warm for us at night and we were reluctant to leave the windows open as there was a gap in a mosquito screen. This may not be an issue for others who are more used to the heat! Thank you for a most wonderful stay. Provided the perfect base to visit the Tuff towns. We will recommend to friends and family.

This place was interesting. I only stayed a night like cool a castle looking place, but when I arrived, I realized it was an entire experience. I would definitely go back just to explore all this place has to offer. I went during the rain, so I did find some beetles creeping in when I opened the window to see the view. So be aware if bugs spook you! Also, if you stay in room 3, the WiFi didn’t really reach to the bed. I had to leave my phone near the door in case someone had to call me. Which was fine. Breakfast was okay. But def would come back to explore.

Once in a lifetime experience to stay in an ancient fortress with views of a charming medieval village. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is much to see nearby, including Pitigliano, Sovana and the thermal springs at Saturnia. Wished I had booked more days. Hotel della Fortezza is above the town, a short walk to eateries and other sights, so it is quiet at night, except for church bells. We thought the room, the view, the breakfast, and the convenient public parking made our visit to the area more special, which is something to say when you are touring Italy's best kept secret.

Es war schon zum Zweitenmal wunderschön. Leider war es sehr heiss und dieses Zimmer hatte leider keine Klima. Aber wir wurden sehr schnell mit zwei Ventilatoren eingedeckt. Es sind alle sehr freundlich, falls wir diese gegend wieder besuchen, werden wir wieder da übernachten. Mit Klima😊😂😂😂

Tolle Location in einer alten Festung. Verständlicherweise keine eigenen Parkplätze aber fussläufig - auch mit Gepäck erreichbar. Frühstück war sehr gut. An absolutely amazing location, wonderful hosts and incredible food. Stunning views from the room, clean bathroom. Fantastic wine tour and tasting, very clear instructions regarding parking. The only thing we’d change is a fan or some air con though we fully appreciate that might not be possible due to the historic nature of the building. It was a little too warm for us at night and we were reluctant to leave the windows open as there was a gap in a mosquito screen. This may not be an issue for others who are more used to the heat! Thank you for a most wonderful stay. Provided the perfect base to visit the Tuff towns. We will recommend to friends and family.

This is a fortress as the name of the hotel implies. The rooms are in the Fortress Orsini. There is a parking lot that's about a 3-5 minute walk to the hotel (depending on how close to the hotel you park) but beware of maps on the iPhone. It indicated that I had to walk a lot farther, but when I called the hotel, they explained that I only had to walk a few minutes. The room was decent but since I sent in November, it was cool. The room had a radiator but I was informed that it was turned on only a couple times a day. So the room was not comfortable. Sleeping wasn't a problem because if it's a little cool, one can still stay warm. However, after a very long walk down to the city and back, I cam back to the hotel and it was very cold. And even when the heat was turned on, there was only a trickle of heat coming from the radiator. Be aware of this if you are traveling there during cold weather.

We stayed here for our 20th anniversary. Our stay here was like a fairy tale, a dream, and trip back in time. Romantic atmosphere, beautiful room with a nice view, quiet, peaceful, magical, even the furniture was beautiful. This was the most unique and wonderful experience I have ever enjoyed! This place was interesting. I only stayed a night like cool a castle looking place, but when I arrived, I realized it was an entire experience. I would definitely go back just to explore all this place has to offer. I went during the rain, so I did find some beetles creeping in when I opened the window to see the view. So be aware if bugs spook you! Also, if you stay in room 3, the WiFi didn’t really reach to the bed. I had to leave my phone near the door in case someone had to call me. Which was fine. Breakfast was okay. But def would come back to explore.

Once in a lifetime experience to stay in an ancient fortress with views of a charming medieval village. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is much to see nearby, including Pitigliano, Sovana and the thermal springs at Saturnia. Wished I had booked more days. Hotel della Fortezza is above the town, a short walk to eateries and other sights, so it is quiet at night, except for church bells. I don't normally rate 5 stars, but from the excellent meet to leaving, the entire staff was perfect. A five star meal, cupped with 5 star service, can not praise this place enough. A must while in Sorrano. Thank you all for my stay.

ao chegarmos fomos surpreendidos com muita distancia entre o estacionamento e a entrada do hotel,,,nao foi avisado no site do hotel sobre esse acesso dificil,,,tb na recepcao houve uma entrega de quarto com muitas escadas estreitas e perigosas para acessar mesmo com pouca bagagem...o proprio quarto tinha escada para o banheiro...muito pequeno e nao tao limpo,,,ao questionarmos na recepcao nao fomos bem atentidos...o cafe da manha precisava ser agendado e tinha poucas opcoes...

Das ist nur ein Teil der angebotenen Möglichkeiten. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis war dabei wirklich gut! I was truly amazed by my stay at this magnificent and unique hotel near Pitigliano. The rooms, the service, and the place itself are outstanding—by far one of the best places I stayed at during my visit to the Tuscany region. Llegar al hotel de la Fortezza es como entrar a un cuento. No solo por el paisaje de los alrededores sino por cada detalle en el cuidado de cada cosa. El servicio de las chicas que atienden en la recepción es impecable, el servicio de desayuno es extraordinario y la comodidad de las habitaciones también es destacable. We loved our stay at the Fortezza. The views from our room were magnificent!! The town is lovely to stroll around and we had some delicious food at the restaurant the hotel recommended. I took a night time tour to some local caves that was very interesting I thought the drive up to drop off our luggage was pretty fun! Very steep with a couple tight turns. The free parking area is close enough to bring luggage from if you don’t want to drive the steep way. I did have a little trouble finding it. Breakfast was amazing!

Gostei muito do Hotel, staff e local. Tivemos a oportunidade de adquirir um passeio a Vie Cave, que foi super interessante e recomendo. Não possui ar condicionado, o frigobar não gela adequadamente e a fechadura da porta do quarto é um pouco complicada de fechar: esses são os pontos fracos. Estacionamento público super próximo. O dono possui um restaurante muito gostoso próximo, vale a pena testar. Recomendo e retornaria ao hotel tranquilamente.

We stayed one night and were enchanted with the fortress turned hotel in the heart of Sorano. Our room had amazing views of the surrounding town, the breakfast had fantastic coffee and a wide assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries. The owners tour of the underground wine cellars and wine making process capped off with a tasting was informative and delicious.

This was a fantastic hotel. The service was impeccable. The dinner was amazing. The owners are amazing and love what they do. I am planning to come back and spend more time. I only regret that is was only for one night.

You cannot beat the setting: a 900-year-old fortress on the top of a hill! There is a great buffet breakfast available, but no restaurant on premises. The staff are friendly and dedicated.

What a beautiful part of Italy. Stunning location, wonderful service from everyone we met and great breakfast and dinner in the restaurant in the town too. We didn’t want to leave!

The Castle is located conveniently where the restaurants, cafes, and main piazza are, steps away. The main staff are very pleasant and helpful if you are looking for suggestions. Very nice spot.

Sorano was our final leg of journey to Tuscany in May 2026. It was our first experience staying in a hotel converted from medieval fortress! We cannot thank enough the hotel staff, Silvia, for providing us extremely detailed instructions and advice before and during the stay, and Bianca, for providing us a room upgrade (with magnificent view on the town below and the valley). The place itself, Sorano, is deeply rich with Etruscan history (caves, ancient roads, etc.) and is just 10 km from another medieval gem, Pitigliano. If you arrive by car, the free parking lot is conveniently located just outside the castle gates with 2 minutes' walk to the hotel itself. Highly recommend!!!
