Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Auburn Hills by IHG

The room wasn’t quite as shown in the photos, but the big disappointment was the pool was closed. We were able to use the one at the hotel next door, but it was very inconvenient.

Nice hotel and very conveniently located for school shopping. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Chose the hotel partly for the pool and was disappointed that it was pretty cold. Also the Expedia description suggested that an outdoor pool was available “seasonally “. The hotel has never had an outdoor pool so this information is misleading

The walls are paper thin and you will hear everything going on. The pool was cold despite saying it is heated on their website. The doors still have the old slide in style keys. They did have bidets in the bathroom so that's a plus. The TV channel selection was very poor.

The hotel was very nice and comfortable. Great location to get on and of I-75. The biggest problem I have was the pool was closed and there was no notification when I booked the room that it was not available. I really wanted to go swimming and I’m so very tired of booking a room and the pools are either closed, nasty or cold! Hotels.com needs to take some accountability for the hotels we book through them and then hold these hotels accountable in return!

The hotel was under construction when we got there. The whole place smelled like some kind of glue. We also couldn’t use the fitness center because it wasn’t open due to construction. I’m a little disappointed for the amount I paid for my stay.

Room and Hotel were clean. Across the parking lot from Great Lakes Crossings. Pool a little small but was clean and working. Breakfast had a decent selection.

The only complaint was the parking. Everything else was great

Elevator not working properly Bidet was a big bit disappointing, last stay seat heated up and bidet had dryer. I know it’s an added benefit but still disappointing as a paying customer. Room was very clean. Staff was above great! Lady at front desk provided above Custer service. Just lovely and friendly!!!

One night stay for gymnastics competition. The hotel was clean and comfortable, front desk was very friendly. The hot breakfast was adequate, nothing special but adequate. The pool was a bit on the smaller side but had good water temp and was clean (no hot tub). Our issue was that the room did not come with any sort of bedding for the sleeper sofa. When the room includes a sleeper sofa it seems it should have bedding for it in the room. The front desk was happy to offer it. I did get an extra pillow for it but it was the last one they had. The group behind us needed bedding as well and there wasn’t more pillows for them. The sleeper sofa mattress was also plastic wrapped. It didn’t affect the comfort but moving around while sleeping did create some noise. Overall it was a good night and we’d probably stay there again should the need arise.

The only issue was the pool for us. It had a scummy film on the on it not sure if it needed good shock or a good clean.

Tiny ants in our bathroom, smelled liked weed, super loud. The carpet was just dingy and the water was cold.

We were here for 7 days. The first four days, despite multiple requests, our room was not cleaned and we were not given fresh linens. After each complaint we were told by the front desk that “I’ll let the general manager know”. Finally, on day 5, I asked the cleaning staff directly to clean the room and waited while they did it. No one ever apologized for not providing the service. Instead, one of the front desk personnel told me that she wasn’t even supposed to be here today and that there was nothing she could do To add insult to injury, the power we not out twice during our stay for several hours after 9pm which made it hard to manage our children ages 2, 7 and 11. The hotel offered no apology for the inconvenience nor did they attempt to give a discount for the experience. Instead when I asked to stay one more day (didn’t want to move my kids, I asked if we could keep our same room (we had booked another night on expedia for the same room). I was told we had to move since that room was already booked and that the fee would be $50 more for the same room. At that point I was at the end of my patience and told the front desk man all of the inconvenience we endured after being here a week (for which we paid in advance) I would like you to keep me in my room and honor the expedia. He told me that non of my issues were his fault and that could not make the change. After much complaining, he finally kept us in the room. I’m seeking a partial refund

Property was very clean and newly renovated. Employee at front desk for our check-in was very friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the free breakfast offered at the hotel. Only drawback we experienced was there no hot water for the shower. It was barely lukewarm. Good water pressure though. Overall, we did enjoy our stay and would come back.

This is our second time here. We brought our kids this time around. Breakfast was pretty good; was bummed that the juice machine wasn't working. Employee did their best to keep the fridge stocked with drinks. Shower and hot water in the bathroom were inconsistent, but we just thought maybe we were trying to use it during busy times at the hotel, so we didn't complain. Other than that, everything was great.

Our sink stopper was broken. Water would not drain. No hot water for showers. Breakfast selection was minimal.

Everything was wonderful until I woke up with water leaking on my face from the ceiling

The property was very clean. The staff was very respectful and pleasant to work with. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel two nights and never had a room refresh (specifically fresh towels) even with our call light on. The pool was a bit dingy and cold. Otherwise fine, front desk staff was extremely friendly.

Very clean and close by shopping outlet and restaurants

We went out for the day on our second day there. When we returned later in the day we noted our room had not been cleaned, bed not made , no clean towels etc. When i contacted the front desk the response I received was the room was most likely not assigned to a housekeeping staff. No apologies.

My room was clean with a bidet toilet. Bed was comfy and good Wi-Fi. Microwave and refrigerator were clean. Pool was very nice. Hotel was within walking distance to the mall and restaurants. We will probably stay at

Overall it’s a nice hotel. Only minor complaint is that the tv was very old, didn’t have the best picture quality, and only had a couple local channels.

I have stayed at a lot of hotels and this was by far the most clean I have ever been to. We had two issues though. One, it was very loud at night with the highway and intersection right out our window. And two, our handheld shower head would not stay up, which made it a pain to shower.

The hotel is fine. When I asked for a quiet room, we were placed on the third floor but next to the house keeping and electrical room. Thus, we can feel the vibration throughout the night.

The lady who checked us in was extremely rude and got pretty aggressive with her tone when I asked her why the charge was more then what I paid on the website, she responded rudely with bulging eyes that she had already explained there was a hold of $50, however I didn’t hear her the first time she explained it. Her tone and response made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. My husband also had to go back to her to ask for an extra pillow and sheets as we were staying in a room as a family of four and they didn’t provide us any linens or pillows for the pullout couch and she made a loud huff and sigh like we were extremely inconveniencing her for something we ultimately paid for. If you don’t like your job then quit and find a new one. As for the room, it was old and smelled like stinky feet. There was mould by the windows and the floor of the bathroom looked dirty.

They over sold, gave our room to someone else. The room they did end up giving us smelled like a locker room. Hotel staff walked into our room while we were sleeping.

Toni, at the front desk, went above and beyond to help us get a 2nd room for our son and grandbaby close to us that was ready in time for the baby to take a nap long before official check in time. All the other staff were very friendly and helpful too.

I needed help getting into my room at around 1 am because my room key stopped working. I finally knocked on the office door (a few times might I add) and after about 20 minutes I finally got someone to come out. The worker had clearly been sleeping on the clock. This made me not feel very safe because anyone could have just walked right in the building.

The front desk staff were incredible. Especially the afternoon staff. They treated my children specifically with so much love. It was a great experience. Thank you!

The front staff went above and beyond for the patrons. Very nice and accommodating. Can not recommend enough.

This was one of the worst experiences at a hotel I have had. Stayed with a big wedding party and were told rooms would be available for the groomsmen to get ready at 11. Arrived to no rooms available and horrible response from management. We were told to just go get ready at the venue! Next , booked this hotel because we were told they had a shuttle…. Confirmed Monday to be told they didn’t book the shuttle for us and gave it to another hotel. We had to scramble and hire our own shuttle. Finally got into the room and found a rolled up towel on the floor, room smelled of smoke, and long black hairs all over the bathroom . IG hotels should be ashamed. Our group rented at least 15 rooms too. Nobody was impressed and I’m sure there will be quite a few bad reviews. If you are having a wedding party go someplace else!

The lady that checked us in was very friendly. Breakfast good. My mom forgot her toothbrush and they had one for her.

I had two rooms and the first one the air conditioner was completely broken. After unpacking, they moved us. The second room we spent two days with no phone line. The ice machine was completely broken. When I talked to the manager at the front desk he said if I don't like it, he will just check me out.

Great location for going to Pine Knob for a concert!

Friendly staff, solid breakfast & convenient location for concerts at Pine Knob. Suggest using Mike’s shuttle (ask for GiGi she’s awesome) if you’re going to a show.

Clean and quiet. Close to the outlet mall , shopping centre’s and restaurants.

Bed was super comfortable , free parking and across from mall. Very clean lady at front desk very helpful and friendly and also the breakfast was really good better than most places . Second time staying here and will stay again

Convenient location, friendly staff, solid breakfast.

We were out of town guests for a family wedding. The hotel was close to the location of wedding events and that was a major deciding factor for us. The hotel was very clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and accommodating (we had requested linen for the sofa bed and it was delivered in a timely manner). The breakfast in the morning was good with several choices in cold and hot items. My only complaint (and it is very minor) would have been that our room was located on the 2nd floor directly above the entrance. I could hear people talking as they came into the building, but I heard nobody in the hallway of the hotel. As I mentioned, that was a very minor complaint since it was not loud enough to wake me or enable me from sleeping. I would stay here again when we come back to visit the huge mall behind the hotel!

Room wasn't ready at standard check in time despite requesting early check in in advance. Breakfast is supposed to be served until 10, but they started breaking down at 945 and no food left when we arrived at 935.

Well first i was charged $40 more than i was supposed to no explanation. The floor in the room hadnt been cleaned good had someones fake eye ladhes on it. The breakfast was not good, the orange juice was watered down tadted horrible ended up going to McDonald's for something to eat.

Staff had great customer service and breakfast was wonderful, well stocked and tasted good.

The hotel is located in same parking lot as a giant outlet mall including a massive video arcade which my son absolutely loved. The front desk staff were all friendly and professional. The pool area was easily accessible and well kept.The room itself was spacious and both the beds and pillow selection was very comfortable to sleep on. The only real complaint was that the cooked part of the included breakfast was rubbery and barely palatable. Thus, some work could definitely be used to improve the breakfast of future guests. On the whole, however, a solid hotel at a competitive price. Thanks!
