Best Western Plus Altoona Inn

Very clean, well kept facility, and rooms. Parking lot completely surrounded in lights. No dark spots that I could see. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was wonderful and free! Loved the King bed room! Very comfy, 2 places to sit other than the bed. Very clean room and bathroom. I would definitely stay there again and I highly recommend.

Appropriate amenities

I booked the Best Western PLUS because I had been to one in Ok. which had a Fabulous breakfast! Very limited and the pancakes were on a paper plate under a heat lamp. Disappointed they didn't have a hot tub.

The staff were visiblyon drugs. The floor in my room felt like it was going to give out at any minute, the jacuzzi in my room was nasty so i wasnt able to use it. Not happy period.

Leaking hoses, pool out of commission, entry door locks not working

We loved our stay! The rooms were really clean and comfortable. We felt very safe and comfortable staying at this hotel. It was quiet even on a busy weekend. Everything in the room worked great including the a/c which can be controlled in each room. The staff was all really friendly and helpful! The pool was warm and the workout equipment all worked properly. It is much closer to adventureland and a lot of shopping areas then we expected but that was a nice bonus. The breakfast buffet was great, they had so many options to choose from. The cafe style breakfast area was nice. The coffee, expresso, hot chocolate machine in the lobby was awesome and we loved having that available at all times! The only thing that could be improved is if they kept the towels better stocked in the pool area.Though it was a really busy weekend and staff was very quick to give more towels when asked.Overall we enjoyed staying here for our vacation and would definitely stay again. We will reccommend to any friends or family who wanted to stay in the area.

We stayed for two nights in the jacuzzi king bed suite. The jacuzzi didn’t work, we notified the morning staff that next morning and were told we’d be properly compensated or that it’d be fixed. No one did either, the whole reason for booking the jacuzzi suite that costs substantially more was for the jacuzzi to work. Unfortunately we left this morning at 10 am and the manager of the hotel still hasn’t attempted to make this right. Your replies everything in this life, unfortunately in this situation is integrity for the hotel and it’s management. I don’t recommend staying here at this time at all.

Pool wasnt open on time. Had to wro in the morning for the pool to be open. It said 7am. When we could use the pool it was already 8 am

The pool was filthy. Kids smelled like feet & we made them get out immediately. Manager was great tho. Other staff seemed not so caring.

We went for a family trip to Adventureland, I would stay there again if going back to Adventureland it was super convenient, the breakfast was good. The room was small not much room to walk past the tv stand and it was hot in the room although the ac was turned to 61. Kids loved the pool. Overall not horrible not the best but for the convenience of being able to walk right next door and not pay extra for parking at Adventureland it was worth it.

Rooms were dirty an not up dated

This hotel is amazing! Room looked brand new. Light in bathroom mirror and motion sensor down lights on the edge of the bed made getting up in the middle of the night fun. Super clean and comfortable

Was a decent property. Was updated but bathroom was a little dirty. The room and bathroom small. We got there late and left early. It was quiet.

Clean room, nice staff

There wasn't a exhaust fan in the bathroom resulting in the entire ceiling to have Black Mold I reported it to management along with a video I was moved to another room the clerk at the front desk said that she would send a message to her manager to see about compensation for the first night's stay when I checked out I inquired about the situation and was told that she had not heard back from her manager as of now no one has reached out to talk to me

We had cockroaches in our room. One crawled out of the microwave after using it. Then the bathroom had a roach behind the door. The bathroom floor was not clean and tons hair in the tub. I did take pictures of the bathroom cockroach

Comfy beds, good breakfast. Only negative was that the room did not smell clean. Kind if a musty smell. Also carpet didnt appear very clean

The breakfast was one of worst ones I have had at a BW, sausage was cold not warm cold !!!!! The gravy was cool , Breakfast area was nice and clean. The room not very clean,and smelled musty the AC was very loud even on low fan speed. Had a bug crawl out of the water faucet! For a BW I was very disappointed

Family friendly and affordable. Its walking distance to Adventureland. Their breakfast bar was wonderful. We usually struggle with breakfasts hotels because of our picky eaters. Our kids enjoyed making their own yogurt parfait and ate every last drop. Our room was CLEAN, modern and spacious. We enjoyed our view to the park from our room. We plan on going back & have already raved our stay to the staff before leaving and letting our friends know about this BW.

Staff during the evening shift asked us for a $200 “just in case” charge when we had checked in, that much seemed absurd to me, I knew hotels did that but every time it has never been nearly as much. When my sister in law checked in, she didn’t get charged. Also it took several phone calls in order to get my second reservation cancelled, the next morning I called and the lady that answered was a sweetheart and fixed the problem right away. All in under 5 minutes, when the night before it took me 2 hours and nothing had been fixed. Whoever that lady in the AM shift was, you were great!

The manager of the hotel in Altoona Iowa was absolutely wonderful. She went above and beyond to make us as comfortable as possible. She helped us and was so sweet and supportive of us! Thank- you Wanda Buchholz

Horrible front desk person. Rude. Dirty.

Ac didn’t work well. Staff was rude. Asked what the quickest route to the park was and the front last gal asked a worker and I could hear her smear “walk around to the entrance”. Ahh, thanks for the tip. I’m glad I drive 2.5 hrs to go to the entrance. When you leave the park the hotel is quick to get to if you walk or drive. If you’re walking into the park, it takes awhile. We still bought a parking pass and was thankful we did.

Check was difficult. We couldn’t get anyone to come check us in and had to call the phone number. Turns out she was right in the office ten feet away!

Avoid at all cost. While the overall stay met what's expected for a 2-3 star hotel, the overall service was horrible. Booked through Expedia which was smooth. When checking in, was asked for a credit card to cover possible incidentals. This is typical and expected. Had a reasonable stay, checked-in and out on time and didn't incur any expenses. However, the $200 deposit was charged anyway. Called the hotel to resolve the situation and was transferred to the "Owner". This had to be the rudest person I've spoken with in years. I've read other reviews saying this about this person as well. This is one phone call I wish I would have recorded. He was very aggressive and argumentative. Consistently spoke over me and overall treated me with distain. When I asked him his name, all he would say is "Front Desk". He would not even share his name or acknowledge he was the owner. He said they didn't see a charge from the hotel to my credit card. When I tried to say the charge from the hotel had already been posted to my account, he cut me off and said there is no charge. While they are attempting to apply credit, we'll see what happens. If the credit comes through, great, but I've never treated with such distain from a business in my life Overall, you have many hotel options in this area. I stayed here because other members of my family stayed here. Will never do it again and I recommend you find another place to stay besides the Best Western in Altoona, IA.

It was great except we had someone from the hotel walk into our room at 3 am.

Large family group stayed overnight for 2 days at Adventureland. Very convenient to the park. The staff was very accommodating to our large group. Nothing fancy but had everything we needed.

Property is right next to Adventureland Park. Breakfast was delicious. Pancakes were a nice change for a continental breakfast.

Was right across from adventure land. Close to some good restaurants and Bass Pro.

It is a nice hotel, as you would expect from a Best Western. It is right next to Adventureland, which is great if that's your destination. It can be a little busy there and a lot of kids during the summer.

Check in was really easy. Check in staff was very nice & friendly. All staff we encountered was so very nice! Breakfast area was neat & clean & very well stocked with lots of delicious choices. Will definitely stay here again!

Manager was directly in front of the building smoking a cigarette when we walked up to enter/check in, so we had to walk through the smoke as our first impression. Our room smelled very strongly of bleach when we walked in. The fitted sheet on the bed had a large wet spot near the foot of the bed, which we discovered when we pulled off the top sheets and comforter. It smelled like some sort of cleaning solution, so maybe a spot cleaning that did have time to dry before the bed was made? Breakfast was underwhelming. Scrambled eggs from a boxed mix, very salty sausage patties, and no butter for the toast/bagels/pancakes. Biscuits and gravy without the biscuits. Unfortunately, the TV in the breakfast room was blaring CNN news, which was really an unpleasant way to start the day. Staff were friendly, and the room-darkening window shades were amazing!! Room was quiet and bed was comfortable.

The kids and I stayed here in the past about 2 years before this stay and it was a great stay. Very friendly staff, room nice and clean with a great breakfast. This trip it was like it lacked staff. The breakfast wasn’t stocked or slim pickings and when we tried to find staff they were no where to be found. All in all it wasn’t the best stay but it worked.

Breakfast was the nicest of our trip experience, just to hv it's Appreciated!! Coffee, Hot Coco was the Best!! Really Cool pancake machine Awesome, Kids got too hv as Many bowls of cold cereal they Enjoyed 😉 Juices station how Cool is That!! Awesome Biscuits and Gravy, Soft Fluffy Eggs Yum, We are Grateful for The Great Options and Choices in Breakfast, We're All very content for our day ahead!! Room was Quite a good nights rest!!

The room was excellent. The only negative was the Continental breakfast. We went down at 8:30 and there was no coffee left and scarcely anything else to eat. I really wasn't expecting to be competing for what was left to eat with the hotel cleaning staff. The yogurt however was surprisingly delicious.
