Great hotel to experience the flavor of a historic castle, with many more creature comforts than the original inhabitants had. Clean and comfortable room, great bathroom, even a separate room for the bathtub! We were so impressed. Staff very kind and attentive. Parking is a bit interesting as it is outside the castle walls, but the reception responds quickly to transport you and luggage to your room, so no worries.

Our stay in the castle was a great experince. The staff friendly. Breakfast great with some healthy choices Need to know walking here is on cobblestones. Cars are not allowed. If staying at the castle you are walking with suitcases from the bottom to the top. Wear good shoes Lots to do within the castle. Other places to visit are about an hour away

Great experience and a chance to stay inside the castle. Nice rooms and big bathroom. Walking distance to the town. The only problems was parking, difficult to park. We parked towards the back and someone from the pousada had to help us to bring everything from the car, not easy.

This is most likely the nicest hotel in Obidos, located in the former medieval Moorish Castle and subsequent Bishops Palace, in the heart of the old city. Note that you must park outside the walls in the free lot behind a nearby bank. The hotel provides a golf cart shuttle for your luggage. The rooms are comfortable. Good included breakfast in the Bishops Palace.

A chegada ao hotel é muito dificil, o carro precisa ser estacionado fora da cidade e fazer todo o percurso com as malas a pé. O caminho é de pedras e com escadas. Fui com a minha mãe de 80 anos e não recomendo. Eles deveriam ter um meio de transportar as malas paras os hóspedes na chegada.

Walking within castle was taxing . Too many steps .bad for my knees . Shd inform future guests about this. Amenities were also lacking - no kettle for boiling water, no bedroom slippers, no replenishment of water. Check in n check out took a long time. Only 1 porter who I must add was good . We had to wait for van n golf cart to bring luggage to our rooms . Only 1 van n 1 golf cart which starts only at 9 am. Having said all that, the views from the hotel was quite astounding n as a castle , it was interesting n quite beautiful. At breakfast only 1 service staff. The hotel is severely understaffed . The staff was helpful n good but not enough help. Area outside the hotel was nice n interesting with good restaurants n shops

Nice opportunity to stay physically inside the castle, albeit the back side and with no real views from the rooms themselves, but still a very nice room! Very comfortable bed, modern bathroom, lovely soaking tub from tired muscles spent climbing the millions of stairs in Obidos! The only downsides to our stay were: 1. Really no actual parking on site or near the hotel despite "Parking" listed (we had to haul our suitcases quite a distance), so don't do this if you're handicapped or not up for a lot of walking and carrying! 2. Saturday, September 16th 2023 was probably a terrible night for the kitchen staff in the restaurant because the dinner was also pretty terrible. I could imagine Gorden Ramsey filming an episode of "Kitchen disasters" back there, yelling at the staff and saying things like "This is BURNT! This is OVERCOOKED! What is THIS?!" and so on. I can only imagine they had a bad night or something and maybe the food is better the rest of the time, but caveat emptor on the food! Location, nice!

Incredible hotel, actually part of the castle. Quirky, fun rooms, Energetic climb to the restaurant. Highly recommend. Guests need to be advised how to check in since it is not possible to drive to the entrance

Stunning setting in a centuries old tower and palace, excellent attentive staff, superb breakfast. ALERT: the property is inside a walled medieval village and not accessible by car or taxi. The hotel will meet you and bring you back to parking outside the walls.

The room was very small, barely had a window and had clear signs of mold. The price was amongst the most expensive and the quality was subpar. We spent two hours looking for our car when we left because the hotel personnel had moved it to a better space but didn’t communicate it to us. That’s unacceptable.

A special experience. A beautiful hotel with medieval motifs combined with modern comfort. A large room decorated with a magical atmosphere. Heartfelt and exclusive service. It's a shame that all the details are not taken care of. The coffee table is peeling and the toilet paper is cheap. A room with 2 beds and a window was specially ordered and we received a room with one bed without a window. Other than that it was perfect.

Beautiful location with a novel concept of “Staying inside the Castle”, it’s more like staying in a hotel room, inside the Castle walls. They created a touch of charm by adding a welcome treat and sharing a letter about one of the Queens. We received an access card into the Castle to view some of the rooms and restaurant. The shops and walking streets inside the Castle walls help to create a village atmosphere. Our room provided standard amenities but appeared old and tired (hair dryer). No photos of the room as it lacked that WOW effect. We also notified the team via the app that we would be celebrating our 20th Anniversary (no special accommodations were made…for example, there was no note to say congratulations). Breakfast was good, but for the price point I would have expected more. I would not recommend booking dinner in the Restaurant (there are lots of great places in the village). At check in we were provided a map with recommendations, that was incredibly helpful. The staff was friendly and polite. We enjoyed our ride into the village and leaving the village and getting to talk to the locals.

Everyone was very friendly and we loved the medieval village inside the castle walls. It is very charming and we enjoyed walking around at night. However while the room itself was very clean, we noticed in the morning (we may stayed one night) that our bed sheets were heavily stained along the corners. We took pictures and understand they’ve been passed on to management.

We booked a room at the castle for just one night. We found hair from previous guests in the shower. The tile caulk had some moldy stains as well. The water glass in the restroom had toothpaste residues. We told the staff but their response was a simple “we are sorry”. The room service and maintenance wasn’t worth the price paid (over $400/night with taxes). The village is beautiful and totally worth it. We will choose a different place next time though.

Excellent experience. We were in the castle. Service was excellent. Room was nice and clean and quiet. It smells musty ( not too bad though) but expected for an old castle. The town is quaint as well with shops. Had excellent meal in town and great breakfast at hotel. This was one of our favorite experiences!

The hotel was fine. I would not consider it 5 Stars. The service was good. The room was small, it did not feel like we were staying in a Castle. The hotel does not have parking , you park 5 min away and they send a car to pick you up. Pack light, you will have issues with large luggage. The village does not allow anyone to park inside. I would consider spending less money in another hotel nearby. All and all, it was a good experience

The experience of staying in an old castle was amazing. The lounge areas are very comfortable, I could even have a couple of business video calls there, while enjoying the complimentary tea and cookies The restaurant were we had breakfast is amazing, it was the dinner hall of the castle and you can feel like in the Middle Ages. Views from there are beautiful, we had dinner one evening and it was very good too You can start the walk over the ramparts right outside the hotel, it’s a must, you can circle around the whole town enjoying the amazing views The only con: we asked for a room inside the castle ( we thought it would be more charming), but the rooms there are too small, no closets and the bathroom was so small that the water form the shower was flooding the whole bathroom We asked to be moved to another room ( this was outside the castle, they have another wing next to the reception), and this was great: ample and comfortable The ginginha ( sour cherry brandy) little bottle as a gift was a nice touch too There is no better way to enjoy the Obidos medieval ambience than staying in this hotel

Dreadful, this place is not worth the money. If you HAVE to stay in Obidos, choose somewhere cheaper. This place has zero soundproofing in the rooms, you can hear absolutely everything your neighbours are up to, from using the bathroom, having a conversation to midnight fun & games. Staff are wonderful as is the breakfast, but unless you pay top $$$ for the most expensive Castle rooms, it’s not worth the money. For two nights, we had a total of 7hrs sleep - dreadful.

Breakfast was wonderful. Freshly baked goods, coffees, eggs, fruit, etc. The rooms were inside the castle walls, very charming. Amazing views of the surrounding landscape.

Nos colocaram em um quarto ridiculamente pequeno em uma hospedagem que nos custou mais de mil e duzentos reis, onde as fotos dos quartos da categoria diferem das anunciadas, assim como o tamanho divulgado. A cama muito pequena e com colchão de péssima qualidade. Não conseguimos ficar os dois dias e fomos embora ao final do primeiro.
Nos colocaram em um quarto ridiculamente pequeno em uma hospedagem que nos custou mais de mil e duzentos reis, onde as fotos dos quartos da categoria diferem das anunciadas, assim como o tamanho divulgado. A cama muito pequena e com colchão de péssima qualidade. Não conseguimos ficar os dois dias e fomos embora ao final do primeiro.

Great hotel to experience the flavor of a historic castle, with many more creature comforts than the original inhabitants had. Clean and comfortable room, great bathroom, even a separate room for the bathtub! We were so impressed. Staff very kind and attentive. Parking is a bit interesting as it is outside the castle walls, but the reception responds quickly to transport you and luggage to your room, so no worries.

I chose this property because they indicate "Free onsite self parking". Actually the whole village is not allow outsiders' cars to enter the village gate. The property sent me an email 3 days before our check-in, simply said welcome, never mentioned anything about how to get there. We arrived at Obidos village gate before 7pm & drove into village according Google Map. The up and down driving on narrow stone road is very difficult. We finally got to the gate, but the gate is locked. We did not have a local map in paper. So we had to use Google Map and try to figure out how to get to the hotel by other route. It was getting dark. The narrow streets are very steep and slippery, and most of them are one way road. It was very stressful and scary experience. We tried to call the property. But the phone number they give is for loacal callers only. We use Roger's roaming as home program and must mak international call to the property. By 8pm, we finally found the entry of their property. The receptionist was super rude and denied all the facts. My husband had to drove the car outside the village and walked back up to the hill top. It was near 9pm. This property has a restaurant onsite. But they simply decided not open on that day. Other restaurants in the village all closed before or at 9pm. So we could not have dinner. I called hotels.com about it. In the property's respond, they are still insisted that they have parking but fully occupied by other customers.

Entendo que o hotel é antigo, mas o cheiro de mofo na sala comum estava bastante forte. Por outro lado, a equipe foi muito simpática e o atendimento no restaurante foi excepcional. No entanto, durante o check-out, o serviço de transfer até o estacionamento não estava disponível por falta de pessoal, o que me obrigou a ir andando com toda a bagagem — algo que realmente não esperava em um hotel da rede Pestana. Além disso, sou cliente Gold no Hoteis.com e, diferentemente de outras experiências, não recebi nenhum upgrade ou cortesia, o que geralmente é oferecido. Para comparação, tive uma excelente experiência no hotel da rede em Cascais, com upgrade e um ótimo vinho de boas-vindas. Por isso, ainda considero me hospedar novamente com vocês, mas deixo esse feedback para que possam avaliar esses pontos de melhoria.

Extraordinary stay at the Pousada Castelo de Óbidos! Though we thought parking outside of the castle walls would have been problematic, it wasn't whatsoever! The pickup & dropoff service offered by the hotel (and specifically Guillerme) was exceptional! We truly enjoyed all of the amenities offered by the "castle" ~ a once in a lifetime experience! We'll be back!!

Ocorre que em nossa estadia me pareceu que a propriedade esta com déficit de pessoal - passamos algumas dificuldades com bagagem, e atendimento - em que pese do fato de os colaboradores existentes terem - nitidamente - se esforçado ao máximo para atenuarem essa questão. No mais, incrível e inesquecível!

Walking within castle was taxing . Too many steps .bad for my knees . Shd inform future guests about this. Amenities were also lacking - no kettle for boiling water, no bedroom slippers, no replenishment of water. Check in n check out took a long time. Only 1 porter who I must add was good . We had to wait for van n golf cart to bring luggage to our rooms . Only 1 van n 1 golf cart which starts only at 9 am. Having said all that, the views from the hotel was quite astounding n as a castle , it was interesting n quite beautiful. At breakfast only 1 service staff. The hotel is severely understaffed . The staff was helpful n good but not enough help. Area outside the hotel was nice n interesting with good restaurants n shops

This is a legit castle that you can walk around and explore. The medieval city within the walls was amazing to see and explore. The food options, drinks, wines and shops were plentiful and all perfect. The people were so friendly and helpful. The city locals and tourists all combine in this area to chat over a glass of wine. The views of the city are breathtaking. I would highly highly recommend this property for a one of a kind stay in a real castle. Being a real castle, the rooms are not the most soundproof, but quiet enough. It’s your room neighbors that could keep you up. Parking is not the easiest as the streets are tight and crowded during peak times. Otherwise, this is a great place.

Our stay in the castle was a great experince. The staff friendly. Breakfast great with some healthy choices Need to know walking here is on cobblestones. Cars are not allowed. If staying at the castle you are walking with suitcases from the bottom to the top. Wear good shoes Lots to do within the castle. Other places to visit are about an hour away

This is most likely the nicest hotel in Obidos, located in the former medieval Moorish Castle and subsequent Bishops Palace, in the heart of the old city. Note that you must park outside the walls in the free lot behind a nearby bank. The hotel provides a golf cart shuttle for your luggage. The rooms are comfortable. Good included breakfast in the Bishops Palace.

This Pousada is beautiful, can't beat the location, super friendly staff, excellent tasty food at their restaurant, being in a castle is amazing, super well kept, can walk around the city and shopping easily, definetely would stay here again.

Excelente hotel. El estacionamiento es fuera del pueblo pero tiene el servicio de recogerte y llevarte. Una experiencia inolvidable. Las habitaciones hermosas y el desayuno espectacular. Volveríamos sin lugar a dudas. Hospedarse en el castillo es una experiencia única. Tienen servicio de té y galletas todo el día.
Excelente hotel. El estacionamiento es fuera del pueblo pero tiene el servicio de recogerte y llevarte. Una experiencia inolvidable. Las habitaciones hermosas y el desayuno espectacular. Volveríamos sin lugar a dudas. Hospedarse en el castillo es una experiencia única. Tienen servicio de té y galletas todo el día.

Nice opportunity to stay physically inside the castle, albeit the back side and with no real views from the rooms themselves, but still a very nice room! Very comfortable bed, modern bathroom, lovely soaking tub from tired muscles spent climbing the millions of stairs in Obidos! The only downsides to our stay were: 1. Really no actual parking on site or near the hotel despite "Parking" listed (we had to haul our suitcases quite a distance), so don't do this if you're handicapped or not up for a lot of walking and carrying! 2. Saturday, September 16th 2023 was probably a terrible night for the kitchen staff in the restaurant because the dinner was also pretty terrible. I could imagine Gorden Ramsey filming an episode of "Kitchen disasters" back there, yelling at the staff and saying things like "This is BURNT! This is OVERCOOKED! What is THIS?!" and so on. I can only imagine they had a bad night or something and maybe the food is better the rest of the time, but caveat emptor on the food! Location, nice!
Nice opportunity to stay physically inside the castle, albeit the back side and with no real views from the rooms themselves, but still a very nice room! Very comfortable bed, modern bathroom, lovely soaking tub from tired muscles spent climbing the millions of stairs in Obidos! The only downsides to our stay were: 1. Really no actual parking on site or near the hotel despite "Parking" listed (we had to haul our suitcases quite a distance), so don't do this if you're handicapped or not up for a lot of walking and carrying! 2. Saturday, September 16th 2023 was probably a terrible night for the kitchen staff in the restaurant because the dinner was also pretty terrible. I could imagine Gorden Ramsey filming an episode of "Kitchen disasters" back there, yelling at the staff and saying things like "This is BURNT! This is OVERCOOKED! What is THIS?!" and so on. I can only imagine they had a bad night or something and maybe the food is better the rest of the time, but caveat emptor on the food! Location, nice!

Excellent experience. We were in the castle. Service was excellent. Room was nice and clean and quiet. It smells musty ( not too bad though) but expected for an old castle. The town is quaint as well with shops. Had excellent meal in town and great breakfast at hotel. This was one of our favorite experiences!

This is a 1000 year old castle. It is impressive in every way in a homey sort of way. The shuttle from parking to our room and back was very helpful. The restaurant was excellent for dinner and the included breakfast. There is an area in front of the reception area that overlooks the town with tables and chairs where they serve drinks. The bathroom is small, but the shower is powerful with plenty of hot water. The staff was very pleasant, from the shuttle driver to the reception to the dining room staff. It is an unique experience.

Dining at the pousada leaves much to be desired. The staff was very attentive however it appears that the problem was in the kitchen. It took us about an hour and a half to get our order. I ordered a steak which was raw and was served with fried potato peels. My wife ordered risotto which was good. There were only two other tables with customers. There were also flies buzzing about the dining room.

We stayed in the castle 3 years ago and this was the only place on our return trip to Portugal that we had to revisit. We stayed in a suite this time and loved it. Bed is a bit short though. Breakfast is included and is totally worth it. Plenty of selections.

We had an okey stay. We were put in a room in one of the towers. Of course its a old hotel, but the moldy smell is present, we had a tiny window and felt the room extremely claustrophobic… specially as it was hot the AC is mot really positioned properly so it doesnt work great. You have to park the car far away and staff will get you, and this is extremely important when you travelling for long with a lot of bags. I wouldnt stay for more than 1 night though

É muito legal. Beleza sem igual! A única dificuldade é chegar até o castelo. São ladeiras bem íngremes. Os carros não vão até lá. As malas são confuziras pelos empregados.
