Econo Lodge Rocky Top

I have stayed at econo lodge in Rocky top for many years now. It’s an older hotel that could definitely use a facelift and time and again sketchy people will stay here. It’s not the Hilton by any means. What I like about this hotel is that it is budget friendly. The place may be old but it’s always been clean and I’ve never seen a bug of any kind. The beds are somewhat comfortable and there’s a pool. They serve cereal and bagels for breakfast. It’s super basic but if you are like our family then you wouldn’t be at the hotel much anyway and it would be just a place to lay down at night. The staff has always been friendly and I’ve never had problems checking in or out with the correct bill paid and no questions asked. I’m not sure what you are looking for or what your expectations are. It’s not a hotel I’d walk bare foot on the carpet and if you’re looking for every crook and cranny like you would look at the Hilton then I suggest you find another place to stay. This is a cheap hotel that you can lay your head down at night. The owners are on top of it here too. If your thinking you are gonna party all night and keep people up doing drugs, or drinking then plan to get kicked out because they have a no tolerance policy. This is the other reason that I like this hotel. It’s a two star hotel that I rate at least 4 stars because they have all that my family needed here.

I always say if this property the front desk people are excellent. Both of the ladies are great I’d say they’re enough that they know I’m traveling alone and I always make sure I get a room right across from the office so they can keep an eye on me, that’s very reassuring, Cracker Barrel and Kentucky fried chicken out right next-door to gas stations right across the street and another one beside Cracker Barrel. They have a liquor store. Everything is right there handy.

Very accommodating with parking for our RV

If you're looking for a cheaper place to stay for a night or 2 this is it. They have cleaned up since last year especially the pool area. The room was ok, but they need some bleach cleaner in the bathroom and a broom to knock the cobwebs out of the ceiling and corner of the window. Good luck making coffe the cord was to short to reach any outlets. You should ipen some if these rooms and air them out once and a while pretty stale smelling. Only there for 2 nights so tolerable.

Stayed there week of MLK..total ice on sidewalks and bad driveway .skidded on ice and snow,could not see road from dirt in entrance,the cracker barrel rest was cleared and snow free.so it could be done.this is the owners risk assessment.

Was great for a one night stay while traveling. Restaurants within walking distance.

Rates are good, much lower than Knoxville.

It was easy to get to and in and out.

Pros: -Clean room -Lots of light in parking lot where we park our car -Ice nearby (we were on the bottom floor and it was upstairs right above us) -Microwave -Little fridge -Very kind check-in person -Tv with lots of local channel options -Free Wi-Fi - Great water pressure Cons -Additional pet fee when I arrived which wasn’t in the initial price -A live frog in our room on the desk -Dated bedding (crunchy, uncomfortable cheap bedspread) -Although motel was sparsely populated, someone was put next to us and they came in late waking us up Overall, we’d stay here again for a stopover

Our two rooms were close together, and being on first floor (no stairs) was great for my 92 year old mom. Excellent TV. Floor was clean, but there was a musty, mildewy smell coming from air unit. Pillows and bed linens didn't smell fresh.

Had bugs all over the ceiling, bed had a mysterious white stain on it, pillows weren't clean.

It had bed bugs Friend got ate up and they wouldn't offer money or discount back Do not stay there Worst birthday ever. Do not stay,dirty room and sheets.

It is true; this is an old facility, and the wear & tear shows. BUT I knew that when I chose to stay here. It was affordable, clean, quiet, with a comfortable bed & several different pillow types to select from. (I need a flatter pillow for my neck problems, and too often, fancy hotels only have extra fluffy pillows that don't work for me.) My shower was great! I had plenty of hot water, & the pressure was strong. Everything was clean, from the bathroom to the small fridge, the bedside table & desk surfaces, & the floors. Were there cigarette holes in the blankets? Yes, but it was a smoking room, so I didn't expect any different. The blankets & sheets were CLEAN, & that's what mattered most. Again, given the price point & the reviews I read, I knew what I was signing up for. But unlike other reviews, I did NOT see any bugs in my room, or have issues with other guests being loud or making me feel unsafe. The check-in process was great. The man who checked me in & the other man who checked me out were both nice & efficient. Everything was exactly what I expected. I gave an overall 4-star review because while it isn't the best place I've ever stayed, I didn't have any problems. I believe the people running it are keeping it clean & functioning, but keeping the price low by not doing upgrades. As long as you know what you're signing up for - a clean & comfortable place to rest your head for the night - I believe you will be pleased.

Room was ok except the bathroom. Parked right in front of the room, which I like. Good water pressure. Black mold all over the shower and bathroom. You get what you pay for

Room was clean. Cheap, stiff mattress. Clock radio plugged into nonworking outlet; bedside lamp also nonfunctional (probably a breaker tripped on a common circuit). Given the price, about what I'd expect. Shower was good.

I'm allergic to mold. The caulking around the tub had mold although out. The shower head had black mold on it. I ended up taking a sponge bath the two days I stay there. When asked about it they serve breakfast, I was told they were only required to serve coffee. Disappointed and probably will never stay at another Econo Lodge again.

I read the reviews before coming here and they commented positively on the cleanliness. They were right, it may be slightly older but it is very clean which is a big factor for me. I would recommend it for that reason and definitely stay here again.

This is a motel that is not 7.4. It's more like a 6.3. But the bed is comfortable, and I had a good night's rest.

Great price, firm mattress, A/C has right amount of white noise to sleep soundly. Some things dated but all quite clean.

The hotel was just passing as okay, the room was dated and the floor was vlynal that was pooring installed.

I have used this particular hotel several times in the past and been very satisfied. The ONLY issue this time was in the room itself. The sink and mirror were located in the bedroom area, next to the bed. This was awkward in the middle of the night when one of us got up to get a drink, wash hands, etc. Would not have been an issue if I had been traveling alone.

The room was very dark and the vanity was not enclosed.

Nicest room we've ever had. We stayed on the first floor. 10 foot ceilings, nice lounge and work space, great shower and bathroom.

The beds were confortable but the cool air did not exist. The showers were delightful with hot water and amazing water pressure. Dated but clean enough! We did have to request extra towels since there were not enough in our room but the staff was extremely kind and helpful! Would certainly stay here again, and hope the air worked in another room. Because of the single night stay we did not request a new room, so we did not gibe them an opportunity to correct the problem. That's on us, not them. Room 117 if the management sees this.

A very nice to stay. But my mattress had a big dip in it found it hard to sleep, every time i rolled over i woud fall into that dip. Other than that it is a very nice property well matained. Nice large rooms, very clean, everything there is well kept. Just not the mattress i would stay there agaon

The WiFi sucked. I mean it really sucked, unusable. How can they state that they have WiFi when the WiFi sucks?

There is train tracks right behind the hotel and during my stay the train went by during the evening and early in the morning The desk person was not friendly There was bugs in my room

Check-in person was very friendly and the check-in was very quick.

The staff is very unreasonable and not helpful at all and act very rude when faced with a problem

My husband and I stayed 4 days! The room was clean and Junie in housekeeping was very nice! She made sure we had what we needed!

I don't know what has happened to this place but it was nice to stay here before. I will NEVER stay here again. The place was disgusting and the guy that checked us in was Extremely rude!!!! If I could have gotten my money back I would have stayed somewhere else. My husband has a driver's license from that area and apparently he told my husband that he wanted to put a $100 hold on my husband's account in case we steal or break anything. That part wasn't the issue, I can understand wanting to do that. The issue was how we were talked to and treated. I don't appreciate having papers shoved at me through the window slot. I don't appreciate being talked to like we were garbage. I don't appreciate having to have to pay what I did to stay there when I could have paid less at a place down the street that had bed bugs and would have been treated way better. The floor was absolutely disgusting. My daughter made the mistake of walking barefoot from the bed by the wall to the bathroom and her feet were black!! I have the pictures to prove it. Along with the nasty who knows what being smeared on the walls, also have pictures. Mold all over the place, again pictures. Stained furniture and towels. Moldy fridge and walls. Save your money and your time do yourself and go somewhere else. I will be making a complaint to corporate as well as sending them all the pictures I took.

I booked this property for an overnight rest for my family traveling home from a sixteen hour drive. When I arrived the doors were locked and no one was visible in the office. A woman came to the window and ask for my drivers license and credit card. Without looking on her computer she said she didn’t have any reservations for me. I told her that I booked two rooms for the evening through Expedia. She immediately starting getting rude and saying “third parties never show up”. I ask her if she had rooms available and she said yes. I then ask her if I could go ahead and get rooms and she told me I needed to call Expedia and have them “prove” I had paid for my rooms. It was 11:30pm at night and obviously this was going to take awhile so I returned to my vehicle. I spent 45 minutes clarifying that everything was correct and the motel had received my reservation. Even after an Expedia agent reached out to the manager of the motel in the phone they refused to let us stay there. Clearly the issue is the staff and management at this dump motel. We choice to drive another hour and stay at a reputable hotel for the night.

Very Friendly front desk clerk, called to confirm and was very kind and courteous. Once we arrived, she was super sweet just a pleasure to be around. Excellent first impression.

Had a confirmed reservation for one room but they insisted I reserved 32 rooms. I showed my confirmation but I had to pay for 2 rooms. I will never stay at another Choice hotel again.

Easy on and off the interstate, bed a bit lumpy but otherwise great

The property was fine, and in decent condition. The check-in lady seemed distant and cold in comparison with other Econo Lodges we have stayed at. We were disappointed that complimentary breakfast was cancelled due to Covid epidemic, since we have travelled elsewhere & not found that to be the case.

Yes it's long in the tooth. But it was clean and at $ 78.00 you can't beat the price for a one night stay. The check in was slow and it's through a glass window not in person. The website says breakfast included but they are using the Covid excuse and not serving anything.

On the positive it was clean and no carpet. We were disappointed that there was no breakfast. Reason was covid, however other accommodations served breakfast. It seemed a cost saving tactic. Our electronics would not hook to wi fi, no password and not secure. The tolit was wobbly and unsafe. Very dated.

No breakfast as offered roaches expensive for what is offered heat didnt work in room

Went to breakfast at 7:15 there was only 2 pi ces of bread and to bagels that was it no fruit no muffins made the comment guess since you have nothing to eat here we will go down the road. No interest in getting anything. Other than that all was good.

Had a very good stay. Room was very nice and clean updated and smelled clean. The breakfast was a very nice addition.

Room and heat, fridge, coffee make and continental breakfast was good. Wasn’t aware there was a $15 pet fee when I booked it.
