November 2024: Stayed 1 night in deluxe double room. Lovely room, good size, quiet, nice shower. Downside: car park is far away. Booked restaurant but had to walk outside to get there in minus one degrees. Inconvenient

Any room with a lake view is great. I stayed on a Sunday so the facilities were quiet, and used the gym which was good.

The staff at reception were consistently friendly, helpful and generally brilliant. We requested to switch rooms for a lake view and they did everything to make this possible, meaning our second night was spent looking out across the water. Our dog was equally welcome and was treated to a cosy bed, blanket, bowl and plenty of treats! The area around the hotel is lovely, with very nice walks around the lakes. The room was clean, but we could easily hear the neighbours in both rooms we had. The parking situation was stressful when we arrived: the bays aren't well marked and most guests double parked meaning we had to park a ten minute walk away from where we were staying. This improved the following day when others checked out. The hotel offers electric vehicle charging, though it is expensive (we ended up charging outside the Cotswold Outdoor's store next to the hotel, which was much easier, faster and cost effective). The Boathouse restaurant was impressive, offering very tasty food and plenty of drink options. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would recommend requesting a lake view upon booking otherwise you might pay a lot for a nice-ish room overlooking a car park.

Unclear policy over use of the swimming pool for hotel guests. I only booked this hotel as it had a pool that my daughter wanted to use but unless you are paying for spa treatment you cannot use it and are made to feel like you are asking for something extra. This hotel should be clear what the policy is. Not visiting again

After choosing this hotel for what it had to offer was very disappointing. For our 3 night stay the spa was closed, the pool was closed and one restaurant was closed. When booking there was nothing to stay that these facilities would not be open so false advertising at it's best! A expensive place to stay when you cant use most of the facilities. The rooms were lovely and clean but will not be returning.

Overall a great stay and very efficient and good value for money. Spa was good but could do with a little maintenance around the pool. Also a little strange policy for using pool if a resident that you can turn up and enter for free if not busy however if you want to book a slot they want £24 understand that spa customers are using however they know how many booked and to ask a charge of £24 just to use the pool etc seems steep. Luckily we just turned up and it was quiet so went in for free however think the policy could do with reviewing

Very busy hotel but the staff coped very well BUT we were in a room a long way from the main reception and restaurants. Coming out in the dark after eating there was no lighting working and was missing in places meaning we had to feel our way back to our room. Being in the countryside it was pitch black. I cannot believe that this hasn’t been pointed out to De Vere before and they haven’t done anything about it.

Very comfortable with a feeling of luxury. However was disappointed to learn that the pool was only available to those booking a spa treatment. Since the pool was one of the features sought when selecting (we enjoy a pre breakfast swim ) I think the booking page should make this restriction clear.

Great room with access to lake, plenty of space and well proportioned - spa was good, but pool could be warmer ! Breakfast nice, but you need more coffee machines. Bar area nice and cocktails superb!

Poor cleanliness of the room unclean room and bathroom lots of dog hair everywhere then got told ground floor for dog owners was never given an option to not stay there as an asthmatic struggled to breath all evening. Room wasnt clean and everythibg was tired or damaged heating controls were poor.

Fast check in. Very comfy bed with squishy pillows. Like a giant hug! Excellent choice at breakfast. Sadly just a one night stay for a family party nearby. Only niggle point was that bin in bathroom had not been emptied from previous occupants otherwise excellent stay.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were exceptionally polite, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Their warm hospitality truly made the experience stand out. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Breakfast spread was very good. All staff very friendly. Housekeeping service very poor in the hotel rooms, was completed in a rush, left dirty towels etc behind. On another day did not come at all to clean the room and lacked top up of basics such as toilet rolls etc.

Very disappointed after spending £600 for 2 nights. Room had not been vacuumed properly in a long time. Carpets and sofa were full of dog hair, living area smelt of (dog?) faeces with stains to go along with it. Room was next to a loud generator which went off all night. Mentioned to reception to hopefully have a quick clean for the 2nd day, no one even came round to apologise or clean.

Very decent hotel and a lovely breakfast. Didn’t sleep well as found blood on the sheet as I got into bed but it was late so didn’t have time to get it changed. I just don’t see how it could have happened. Hotel said they would look into it but I didn’t get any outcome (not sure if I should but it would seem to me to be good practice to follow up such a situation with the guest once it had been investigated). Staff were very friendly.

The property was nice, only complaint… our bed was horrible. The mattress dripped over the sides of the box spring. If you got to close to the edge, you almost rolled out of the bed. The mattress was very worn.

The Good: The hotel is in a lovely location and the front desk is very modern looking. You can go on some lovely walks around the surrounding area. The staff were pleasant and I can't fault the service. The Bad: The hotel doesn't have aircon which with the current hot summers is a bit unbearable. They did supply one fan in the corner of the room, but it was so loud when turned on it sounded like an old tracker. The breakfast was over priced at £20 per person it was nothing special. The same for the bar food, £20 for a standard cheeseburger and chips which honestly didn't taste very nice. You aren't allowed to use the pool unless you book overpriced spa treatments. Overall this isn't a four star hotel based on what you actually get.

No air conditioning in rooms!!! Room was like a sauna and despite accepting the offer of a fan in the room, it never arrived even after requesting a further two times and no communication of why I didn’t get one. Poor show. Due to the room being soooooo hot, the windows and balcony door had to be left open and the main A419 is close enough to hear every bump with the cars travelling on it. Not as serene as it looks!

We stayed during a hot summer weekend with our dog. There was one freestanding fan which wasn't very powerful. Really the room needs aircon. The lighting in the room is poor so you need the curtains open to see which obviously then lets in more heat. So the option is a very very hot room or a dark one!

Was a lovely place, beautiful surroundings, friendly helpful reception staff. We had an upgrade to a lake view with balcony which was really lovely and made our weekend. We were lucky with some beautiful weather too. Only a couple of little gripes, the car park was always busy, so in the height of summer I imagine it’s difficult to park there. The pillows in the room were very small and way too soft, maybe a couple of harder pillows in the cupboard would be nice. Also the option of a fridge, to keep your own cool bottles of water (although they do have free water fountains on the ground floor where you can refill your own water bottle). Lastly the heavy banging doors - these were terrible, we were in a room where you go through a single door to then a shared entry way and 2 more doors to your actual room, this made it extremely noisy, I understand they have to be heavy fire doors to close, but some soft closing mechanism as it shuts would be a really great idea, as if I were there for a week in an apartment, it would have been too much. Overall a fantastic stay, we will go back again for sure. Fantastic area to visit, very beautiful.

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, it is a lovely place with the lake being a beautiful feature. The hotel is really nicely decorated and clean, the reception is inviting and the restaurant for breakfast was excellent. Our only criticism was the bed, it’s a very small double with a very soft mattress which did not allow us to sleep well but that my suit others.

A lovely hotel in a great location. However the problem really is the staff. I know they don’t really care, it’s a job to them. But at least pretend to care! Room not cleaned despite asking several times. Waiting until 4:30pm for the room to be serviced is a tad poor. Being cashless is actually inconvenient for some guests. Just because the hotel can’t be arsed to go to the bank. And frankly only allowing spa treatment customers to use the pool is really bad. I didn’t want a spa treatment - I just wanted to swim a few lengths, is that too much to ask? It actually was. All front and no knickers with this place.

Had a lovely stay. Check in was a little underwhelming with until receptionist. It was busy but he was not very helpful and a bit dismissive. The other lady at the desk was lovely and super helpful. Room was comfy and I had a great view of the lake. Had to query my accommodation as was supposed to have a SC apartment but door was closed. Took a long time to get this solved but when sorted someone cane straight away to sort it out. Very comfy bed and nice clean rooms. Decor a bit dated and dark but standard hotel look. Super close to tourist spots. Would stay again.

This was our second stay at this hotel. It will be our last. From chick-in, rooms not all ready on time, to having to wait for 40 mins to get a drink from the bar and only when we chased it up, the service wasn't great. We were overcharged fro breakfasts - should have been six but charged for nine - our key card didn't work and had to keep recharging it. Also, what a cheek to ask to pay £10 to use the spa when it is supposed to be part of the package. The only reason we chose to stay here was because it allowed dogs. Our room wasn't serviced either. All in all, a hugely disappointing stay.

I have very mixed reviews about my stay. I really enjoyed it but not because of the hotel. Where do I start, the staff went above and beyond to make sure that you enjoyed your stay and that it was a pleasant one. I went with a girlfriend and we had a blast. For a hotel of this size it was supposed to have three different types of restaurants a bar, Italian and a general restaurant. The menus were very similar in all three, the Italian only offered pizzas and a lasagne and that was about as Italian as it got. The bar menu was burgers and from what I could see. The general menu was a mix of both. There was no lunch time menu when you could just get a sandwich and no change to the menu for the full four days that we were there. The swimming pool was full of children which did not allow you to just relax around once you to received your Spa treatment which were amazing. They have a real problem with the drain in the spa rooms and not getting rid of water from the sinks properly. We had to move hotel rooms because the shower had no door and the water flooded the bathroom floor. The staff dealt with this issue and were very helpful. Not every room had usb ports so make sure you bring a charger. The setting is amazing and very chilled, I would go back but my expectations would be lower.

The rooms are clean but needs updating. No fridge and air-conditioning for standard rooms. Room Service is Disappointing. The only way to order food is through their online portal. They said food will be delivered between 35 to 45 mins. But it took them more than 2 hours and 2 follow up calls with reception to deliver our food. The hotel is very secluded so deliveries from outside restaurants are not available. The kids were starving and it was really late when we received the food. No apologies, reasons for delay and compensation for the inconvenience offered. Such a shame as the hotel itself is lovely and the reception staff seem welcoming. The room service (food) option was cancelled for the evening. We received multiple updates leading up to the booking about their main restaurant being closed. We decided to order room service but received no information about it being closed when it was time to order (9pm). We were told we should order a domino's pizza and the staff weren't particularly sympathetic. I wrote to the Hotel to raise this the next day, hoping for some reasonable compensation, my message was never replied to.

Lovely place to stay. We actually added another 2 nights it was so relaxing. Elenor on reception was very helpful. The staff at reception were consistently friendly, helpful and generally brilliant. We requested to switch rooms for a lake view and they did everything to make this possible, meaning our second night was spent looking out across the water. Our dog was equally welcome and was treated to a cosy bed, blanket, bowl and plenty of treats! The area around the hotel is lovely, with very nice walks around the lakes. The room was clean, but we could easily hear the neighbours in both rooms we had. The parking situation was stressful when we arrived: the bays aren't well marked and most guests double parked meaning we had to park a ten minute walk away from where we were staying. This improved the following day when others checked out. The hotel offers electric vehicle charging, though it is expensive (we ended up charging outside the Cotswold Outdoor's store next to the hotel, which was much easier, faster and cost effective). The Boathouse restaurant was impressive, offering very tasty food and plenty of drink options. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would recommend requesting a lake view upon booking otherwise you might pay a lot for a nice-ish room overlooking a car park.

Loved the hotel estate, very beautiful. Swans gliding in the lake outside the hotel room made a fantastic start to the day. Breakfast was enormous and we could take our time with it. Fantastic holiday for the family.

Place is nice to someone who likes to hike. It’s 30 min drive to bear at Cotswold attractions. 1. rooms are far from reception 2. hallways between rooms are tiny - only one person fits otherwise you will hit someone with door 3. Sound proof is poor between rooms 4. Breakfast area has only tomatoes and mushroom - no more vegetables. We preferred to eat outside

Very nice lakeside resort hotel. Great atmosphere, well kept property, good size room, excellent breakfast. Make sure you book a room with a view over the lake. Would have given 5 stars but for (a) the prices in the bars/restaurants, definitely pricey and (b) the quality/choices in the restaurants - would have expected better at these prices.

Mostly nice rooms if you get the right area of the hotel. Well equipped gym and the spa looked nice although I didn't use it. Food was expensive for the quality in the bar, but the hotel breakfast was very good.

So the staff were excellent and the room was very nice. Breakfast was busy but excellent choice and plenty to choose from. Downside - corridor smelt of damp. The evening restaurant meal was not great and I wouldn’t recommend eating in the main hotel restaurant. Value wise ok and location very nice.

The fried breakfast was not up to standard. The bacon had raw rind, hash browns were over cooked and oily. Definitely not worth £15 per person. Pastries were dry.

Friendly reception staff, quick check in, room was large and spotless with nice bathroom. Only negative with room was the 2 small windows that only opened a little so it was very warm to sleep in. Great parking, lovely lakes to walk around. Fab breakfast, so much variety but you need to book. Evening meal was ok, they get very busy and we had to wait quite a while and when food arrived it was just warm. Drinks at bar were expensive too.

The property was impressive with the room being quite a good spec. Huge windows offered a lovely view of the lake area and the stand up fan offered relief from quite a stuffy evening. There were some quality amenities and facilities on site too. The parking was ample but even the closest areas required a sizable walk to reception and that is including the disabled parking bays. The biggest disappointment for me was the dining experience. I ordered a starter and main. The starter took a while to get to me and once finished, it took another 30 minutes for the main to arrive which was quite frustrating as I was hungry once sat down. I appreciate it may have been busy but I still think the service could have been improved upon. Breakfast was set up nice and I was shown to a table before participating in the buffet. The food was quite tasty and well cooked but it was overshadowed by the so-called apple juice which had this awful metallic aftertaste which lingered long on the palate and detracted from the taste of the food just consumed. Overall everything was pretty good but the dining meant this review lost out on a star which otherwise would have been a 5 star experience.

Cheap room rate, very comfortable large room, great bed, but shockingly bad room service. £19 for a pizza that tasted like cardboard (a supermarket pizza would’ve been much better) and £10 for bizarrely inedible Ben & Jerry’s — I don’t even understand what they did to it to result in several inches of solid yellow ice on the top. The next morning I went down to the breakfast buffet and took my coffee outside to look at the pretty view for a minute. I then turned around and found all the doors locked, and the staff person who one minute earlier had welcomed me to breakfast let me back in and told me off: “You’re not supposed to come in this way”. I’d just walked out through the same doors one minute ago — really weird. Basically, don’t attempt to eat here!

Staff were brilliant with sorting this out and refunded one of the mains as an apology. A small coffee with almond milk £4 but yet if you have normal milk is free at breakfast I think this was unfair and over priced for a very small coffee which I had to queue and wait for while the family sat down for breakfast At breakfast they should give options for people with allergies to milk

The standout was the breakfast buffet, which was very generous and good quality. lovely lake views from the Brasserie. The room felt pretty basic and parts of the hotel are a bit tired. It was clean. Staff were ok, not much to say, did their job and not much else. Maybe because it is such a busy place. Car parking was ok, too. Location is great.

My son and I stay here for one night every year in the summer holidays with our dog for a little get away. We love it! The food is amazing, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are extremely comfortable and the view is incredible!

Very disappointing family stay. We booked this hotel largely because the Hotels.com listing prominently advertised an indoor pool as a family-friendly feature. Only after booking and paying for non-refundable rooms did we discover that ordinary hotel guests must pay £10 per person and pre-book a 1-hour session unless they book a spa treatment. For a family of four that is £40 for a single short swim, which was not made clear in the main listing. There were several other problems. The lift was marked out of order throughout our stay, yet hotel staff were using it with service trolleys. My partner has MS, and we had to carry heavy luggage up and down the stairs, as did several elderly guests. The restaurant was expensive with a very limited menu, and the food quality was poor. Breakfast was chaotic each morning, with tables left uncleared, difficulty finding a seat, and food, crockery and cutlery repeatedly running out. The hotel appeared seriously understaffed, and the staff who were working seemed to be struggling to keep up. The rooms were comfortable, but there was no air conditioning or fridge. Overall, this was poor value for the price paid and not the standard we expected from a De Vere hotel. Unfortunately, we would not recommend it for families and would not choose this hotel again.

Only after booking and paying for non-refundable rooms did we discover that ordinary hotel guests must pay £10 per person and pre-book a 1-hour session unless they book a spa treatment. For a family of four that is £40 for a single short swim, which was not made clear in the main listing. There were several other problems. The lift was marked out of order throughout our stay, yet hotel staff were using it with service trolleys. My partner has MS, and we had to carry heavy luggage up and down the stairs, as did several elderly guests. The restaurant was expensive with a very limited menu, and the food quality was poor. Breakfast was chaotic each morning, with tables left uncleared, difficulty finding a seat, and food, crockery and cutlery repeatedly running out. The hotel appeared seriously understaffed, and the staff who were working seemed to be struggling to keep up. The rooms were comfortable, but there was no air conditioning or fridge. Overall, this was poor value for the price paid and not the standard we expected from a De Vere hotel. Unfortunately, we would not recommend it for families and would not choose this hotel again.
