Swans Brewery, Pub & Hotel

This was a great location (lots of dining options in all directions!) and the staff was friendly and helpful (even before I checked in, they were responsive to texts and emails). Given the location, I was expecting street noise, so that did not bother me. But if you need super quiet environment, this is not for you. There was no parking, so we had the park at a parkade a block away. It was not the most convenient, but was not too bad since it is free from 8 pm to 8 am and on Sundays and holidays. We have a 2 BR suite with 2 levels. It was spacious for the two of us and we were able to store our bikes in the room. But the decor is dated without the “heritage charm”… it looked reminded me of dated dorm room decor. Everything was functional though. It has a full kitchen which was a bonus. The unit is quite warm in the evening, especially upstairs where the bedrooms are. We opened the skylight and put 2 fans in the bedroom and it helped a bit. I would suggest placing some quieter fans in the rooms. The bed was also a bit soft. All in all, despite the shortcomings, I would recommend this mainly for the location. It is right by the Galloping Goose Trail, so it was super convenient to bike from the hotel to explore the area.

Rooms are Nice, when walking we peaked in different rooms during turn over/housekeeping. Highly recommend the 2 bedroom suite that sleeps 6. Only negative is 1 shared bathroom. NO AC. 3 people max elevators (2). Hallways are tight. One way in and out of hotel. Safety: Need room key for front door, and every . Would consider property to be “Safe”. Disadvantage: No parking at hotel or valet. Unsecured - Paid parking within walking distance. A bit of a walk to Secured - Paid parking. 1-2 parking spots in front of hotel if available for check-in and check-out.

Everything great! Staff at hotel were very nice and helpful! I had fish and chips at the restaurant and it was plenty enough to eat and absolutely delicious!! Price was very good too!! I’ll stay and eat at Swan’s when I visit again soon!!! Cleaning lady was also very nice!!!

everything fine just issues with window blinds uneven which I believe is being changed .terrific location no parking on site but city parking very close friendly staff and check in .did I say “great location” had view of wharf street .

This was a great location in Victoria with tons of stuff to do with in walking distance. The only complaint is no parking but there is multiple garages around the area.

We enjoyed this property. Pros: Well-kept property, interesting history, good location, walkable neighborhood with lots of restaurants, great view from room, comfortable bed. Cons: Parking, noise at night, stairs to bedroom area. In particular, the parking is not good. You have to park off-site, two blocks away, if you can find a space in that lot. It is also expensive to park.

We stayed at one of the 2 bedroom suites and it was perfect for our family of 5. Very spacious. Amazing to have a full kitchen. We loved the location of the hotel as well. One downside was not being able to park close by. We parked at the Yates parkade, which was a 5 minute walk - not too bad. We would absolutely stay here again.

The attached liquor store was great: they had a huge selection of local beers and it was great to be able to enjoy them in our 2nd floor room. The front staff were very friendly and the hotel is near everything you want to see in Victoria. We even had a peekaboo view of the harbor from our room.

THE LOADING ZONE HAD A DELIVERY TRUCK AND ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR OVER 40 MINUTES SO WE HAD TO CIRCLE THE BLOCKS UNTIL THE ZONE WAS AVAILABLE AND THEN STRUGGLE TO TRANSFER LUGGAGE TO THE HOTEL A 1/4 BLOCK AWAY WITHOUT TROLLY. ONCE UNLOADED WE NEEDED TO RETURN TO VEHICLE AND FIND A PAID PARKING LOT IN THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOOD, DOWNLOAD AN APP TO PAY 34.00 A DAY FOR PARKING. HORRIBLY INCONVENIENT, TOOK APPROXIMATELY 1.5-2 HOURS TO WAIT FOR LOADING ZONE TO CLEAR, TRANSFER LUGGAGE AND THEN FIND SUITABLE PARKING QUESTIONING SAFTY OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT SECURITY. 1ST NIGHT THE LARGER PENTHOUSE SUITE DOWN THE HALL WAS RENTED OUT FOR A LARGE PARTY, KEPT US AWAKE THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, SECOND NIGHT THE GROUP NEXT DOOR CAME IN AT 230 AND WE NEEDED TO CALL AGAIN NUMEROUS TIMES TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP. SO IF YOU LIKE TO UNLOAD YOUR LUGGAGE AT A COVERED SAFE DEPENDABLE HOTEL ENTRANCE FRONT DOOR, AND SLEEP AT NIGHT THEN AVOID THIS PLACE. THE ROOMS ARE INTERESTING, THE BUILDING IS COOL, THE LOCATION IS AMAZING, BUT I ALSO LIKE TO SLEEP AND DO NOT WANT TO STRUGGLE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY CITY STREET TO FIND A PARKING SPOT TO THEN STRUGGLE TO CARRY HEAVY LUGGAGE A 1/4 BLOCK TO THE ENTRANCE WITH OUT HOTELS ASSISTANCE. THE STAFF DID NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY TO OUR CONCERNS, STATING MANAGEMENT WAS AWAY.

The room condition was a bit worse than expected, hair dryer didn't work ( but staffs provided us with another one) , all the furnitures seem to have long history with low quality.

It was boiling hot in the condo. There were no windows in the two bedrooms. There were a couple bugs. I was very grossed out with the carpet and furniture.

This property is quite run down. Rooms need new carpet, furniture, blinds. Bed was comfortable. Pictures show exposed beams in the rooms and ours were painted . Expedia showed our ck in at 3pm and hotel info was 4pm. This hotel did not live up to our expectations. Staff was just ok. Wouldn’t stay again. Plenty of options in the city center

We had a fabulous stay! Such a great location right downtown. Our room was so spacious, clean and quiet even though we were in the heart of the city.

We have stayed before and were not disappointed. Loft room was lovely, clean, spacious, well supplied. Love the big windows (which we could open!). the location is fantastic for walking. As we had been before, we were not worried about off-site parking. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Will absolutely stay again.

Excellent location. Fun rooms. SO LOUD!!! Really great location within walking distance of so many sights. A great 2-floor room with little terraces. No AC so it was a little stuffy here at the end of August. I slept without any blankets. The pub downstairs PUMPS the base in the music so loud that I felt it in my bed on the 3rd floor. There was no escape from it. I had to get up at 5am so was in bed by 10. But I couldn’t sleep from the beats. Maybe they finally quieted down by 11? For this reason I can’t give it a better rating.

A nice mid range hotel. Visitors should know that parking is difficult to find for a reasonable price. Also, in our particular unit the steps to the bedroom is over 20. The only washroom is on the bottom floor so quite difficult at night. The heat was oppressive, since there is no air con and the windows do not open easily and cannot be left open since they open into the rooms, are quite large and have no sceens. The staff were wonderful and efficient.

The staff was awesome. The rooms are incredible. We like a place with a kitchenette and Swans didn’t disappoint. In fact, room had a second floor loft for the bedroom and a view of the harbour. Laundry facilities in the building were also very convenient. Super close to Chinatown and other restaurants and shops. We walked to the harbour and along government street from our hotel. Very wonderful experience for our first time in Victoria.

Check into the long time because the couple in front of us were arguing about a BC AAA card and only one person could check in at a time. Room is definitely dated and has no AC and no bathroom on the second floor which was an issue for us travelling with an elderly person. Location is fabulous. Can walk to everything and felt very safe. We had two bedrooms and a kitchenette, so great if you’re travelling with a larger group.

The connected restaurant was very good. We could walk everywhere we needed to go from the hotel. One thing to consider...if you're of an age where you get up several times in the night, a loft room means 17 stairs between you and the bathroom. The bed in the loft was comfortable. The sofa bed downstairs was, well, a sofa bed. Nice to have access to a kitchen in the room!

Beautiful hotels with unique rooms, ours was on the 3rd floor. It had a full kitchen, a pull out bed as well as doors that opened up to a nice view to outside. There was stairs in the room that went up to a sizable bedroom loft with a king sized bed. Superb location

Make sure you really read the descriptions of the rooms. The 2nd floor studio rooms are directly above the very busy bar, which means floor shaking music until 1am.

The location for this hotel is perfect for those wanting to walk the downtown core and see the main tourist attractions. The parking is less convenient, requiring you to park two blocks away and pay $15/day without in/out privileges - however, the lot is patrolled by security and there is drop off in front of the lobby. It was very clean and our unit had a kitchenette and loft bedroom - which would be great for families or people staying longer term. However, the amount of street noise and lack of proper window coverings (wooden slat blinds and no coverings on the bedroom skylight), made it the worst sleep I’ve had in a hotel. We faced Pandora Ave, and it’s a main bus route and where the garbage trucks go. There is car honking and hydraulic noise from 5-6am onwards and it doesn’t stop. If you get up early and don’t care about bright morning light, it might be tolerable - but we would only stay here again if we faced a different direction and brought eye coverings. It’s a shame because the bed was quite comfortable and the bedding was really nice.

Paid for extra night on Expedia so we didn’t have to leave in morning. They would not let us keep same room even though it was going to be unoccupied the next day. Wanted to pay extra to keep our same room but it was going to cost $500 even though a room was half that price. Staff could not figure anything out and were useless.

We love staying at Swans. Its proximity to neat shops and great city walks is ideal. The suites are unique and funky, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the room was perfectly set up with a small kitchen for preparing meals/snacks. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. We’ll stay here again for sure. Great value for the price.

Right in the edge of chinatown.in old town. so many eateries, easy walking to great locations. Fantastic room with city views. Comfy bed.

Met our needs as a basic apartment hotel. Staff very friendly and place clean. Check in quick. Noise due to street traffic and location but to be expected when so close to tourist areas and China town. We were not concerned about the noise as we wanted to be walkable to attractions and dining in Victoria without a rental car. Very easy to get around downtown Victoria.

Great location in the heart of Victoria! So much to do and it was a perfect spot for starting our daily adventures around the city.

Hotel itself was great but the pub was just okay. The meals weren’t that great and five of us are their twice. Not many choices for beer and staff were not knowledgeable about the beer. Check in at hotel was friendly and rooms were clean.

Great location for the Great Canadian beer festival, Accommodation was spacious and clean, great vibe. A little bit noisy till about midnight though because of the pub but that was to be expected

We like the location, easy to walk to the harbor and to restaurants. We have stayed here a few years ago and remember enjoying breakfast at the hotel but sadly that is no longer offered. The pub is not as cozy as it used to be. However the attached wine store is pretty handy. No air conditioning and we were there in unseasonably hot weather so it was a little warm. Overall, although not as good as it used to be, I’d still stay there again.
