MainStay Suites Texas Medical Center-Reliant Park

Was informed on checking in (not before) that there had been a recent flood in the hotel on the 4th floor so elevator was not operable. We were still put on the 4th floor right next to the damage! I asked to be moved, but was told they had no space. Lack of vehicles in the parking lot at all hours of the day/night made me think otherwise. There was a mold/mildew smell and construction debris on the floors that no one bothered to clean up. Hotel felt overall not very well cared for. Area around facility is pretty sketchy.

Lower cost option for those going to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Complimentary shuttle service to the center was prompt, easy, and reliable. Kitchenette in room was a big help. Room and bathroom were basic but sufficient. Coffee in lobby was nice especially on early mornings.

The motel was clean and the temperature in the room was great. The bed and couch were comfortable. Coffee was available all the time and it was good. Tea was available. They have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within 3 miles. There is a small pool and a fitness center. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. This motel is very close to the Astros' baseball field and medical facilities The only thing that would have made it better is breakfast. I would recommend this motel. It was reasonable.

Bugs, car break-ins, bathrooms were not services hence no fresh towels. The facility to be rated as two star not three star. Feels like families live in this hotel that are more than legally allowed per persons in a room.

Place was fine for a long weekend trip, kids love anyplace with a pool. Theres only 1 entry point so google maps has you go all the way around the building to eventually get you enough time to drive into the entrance from around the back. Staff at the front was very nice! Unfortunately their elevator didnt work. Wished the property would have sent a warning message, call or email about that. Luckily we were 2nd floor but still a bit inconvenient to my 60 mother who had a bad leg. Every guest was using the stairs so you would think staff would clean up the stairs, there was so much dust that the smell was gross walking up and down. Complimemtary coffee at the front was amazing, super tasty!

Property had long term tenants. No breakfast available. Pool was not very clean and tiny in comparison to the picture. Bathroom grout had mold in tub. No counter in bathroom

The entire property was a construction zone. The entrance was blocked off by rubble and piles of tile and dirt. The staff called me while I was traveling to Houston ( only a couple hours before my check in time ) to say there was no elevator available and no rooms on the first floor. When I arrived and communicated my displeasure at the notification of the conditions I was told “ you can just cancel your reservation and go somewhere else” after traveling all day and being told that it was extremely upsetting and frustrating.

While check in and the room were fine, at least two vehicles in the parking lot got broken into. We were fortunate but lesson learned. Don’t stay on this side of town. Were in area for medical appointments. Stay closer to medical facilities or at least other side of complex.

I had a surgery at St Luke’s the following morning, and the shuttle got us there from the hotel no problem. Stayed a night at the hospital and still was able to leave our car at the hotel and get picked up by the shuttle the next day. Really takes stress of driving around the med center area off of your shoulders…PLUS a great money saver on parking.

Hotel room had roaches, stains on the carpet, and appeared to have some sort of water damage.

Bugs, black mold in tub, no cold air coming from AC slept in hot room and sweat the whole night after them telling us there’s nothing they can do about it but take note of it.

It appears that the hotel has a serious problem with a roach infestation. The insects were found everywhere—on the floors, walls, and even in the coffee pot! Unfortunately, veterans were staying there while waiting for their appointments at the local VA hospital. I cannot recommend this hotel in its current condition. I checked out and found another hotel.

The hallways smelled like urine.

Room smelled like urine. Felt like someone urinated in the room.. Reported it to front desk, they provided a anti odor spray but spray didn't help. We spent the night in this hotel as we didn't have any other option and we already paid in advance.

The place was in an undesirable area my room had roaches ,and I didn’t feel safe !!!

The whole place smelt weird, no actual room numbers- just painters tape on the door w sharpie, ROACHES in the room, hot- no ac in the hallways and the room was super hot when we walked in and the floors were disgusting- my son walked from the bathtub to the kitchen and to the bed and his feet were already black

I was thoroughly disappointed in my experience. The layout of the room was awful, the “full kitchen” was a microwave and a stovetop that looked like a camper stove. I felt like I was in a dorm room. The shower was stained and I didn’t have the amenities that I needed.

The staff was friendly and cared about service. The room was clean and had a nice layout. The mattress was very uncomfortable.

While it was fine for an overnight stay. I wouldn’t recommend it. It smell you can’t quite figure out what of. The room smells and the bathroom and closet smell heavily of cigarettes. So much I didn’t want to put my clothes in there for fear of smell transfer. The doors including room door don’t feel like they latch. It reminded me of a very DIY project

The hotel is very dated. Rust stains in the shower. Toilet was low flow but very low flow. Had to wait 45 seconds to flush twice. Floor a/c in the bedroom. Pulling from the window made the room smell.

The receptionist at check in was very helpful and reassuring. The Room was clean and big with two queen beds and pull out couch. The one issue was there was limited towels only 2 towels when I went to ask for more in the morning there was none available.

It’s an older hotel and the fold out bed was old and in bad shape. There is no way I would have pulled it out to sleep on so me and my sister slept together, lol. The room was really small but clean. It was cool and bug free. We were there for two nights and had to ask for clean towels as they don’t offer daily housekeeping.

Staff were very friendly! The area seemed very "shady" and somewhat unsafe. There was a security officer stationed at the front desk at night. The rooms were mediocre and had a very 80's vibe. Smell of the room was musky and old smelling. Bed was beyond horrible. I couldn't sleep at all, tossing & turning all night.

I have stayed here numerous times. Hotel is in need of remodeling but that appears to be ongoing. The shuttle was in the shop during this trip but hotel provided complimentary uber.

They sent us to 2 wrong rooms, one was a storage room, the other had a person sleeping who was not happy being woke up at 2 a.m. because of the mistakes made by the front desk.

This reservation was prepaid in full but the front desk clerk called our room late at night insisting it was not paid. Husband spent 30 minutes back at front desk proving with emails and receipts that room was PAID. The next morning the manager confirmed yes it was paid. Horrible experience at this hotel and kept us up late into the night unnecessarily.

Manager is unresponsive to any concerns. Denied stay to an 18 yr old but would not issue a refund or provide documentation stating that he was not allowed to stay due to age restriction. It was an honest mistake but the manager refused to issue a refund or respond with the information requested. I’ve never experienced this type of unprofessionalism by a manager of an organization. This person should not be a manager.

My flight was cancelled and I spoke with the front desk at this disgusting establishment and she was rude for no reason ver my dismissive and unsympathetic I’m not asking for the world just a logical solution I would have even taken a credit if need be or just a change in the reservation this day and age people no longer care for people anymore and it’s sad

When I arrived, it took a while for staff to find my reservation even with my confirmation number. I was given a room on fourth floor with broken elevator. When I open the door to the room, there was someone already in there. Someone not happy that I had just opened “their” door. I had to carry all my baggage back down stairs and explain the situation. It took several more minutes and phone calls to get another room. The whole situation was very off putting. The AC was very loud, waking me up each time it turned on.

Staff was super friendly and checkin and checkout was fast and easy.

We spent one night here as we were only in town for 1 day visiting a friend at MD Anderson. The area felt a bit empty as there is no shopping or restaurants really close. However, the hotel is convenient to the medical district and the staff was fabulous. Cordell was very welcoming and gave lots of suggestions of where we could explore around town. Some of the facilities are are bit run down and in need of repair. However, there were renovations occurring while we were there and so those issues should be addressed with the renovations.

desperate need of renovation that they claim is happening but didn't see anything. The neighborhood was super sketchy, some guy was arrested in the parking lot for harassing guests. People were sitting in the hallways of various floors just hanging out, not sure if they were guests or not, did not look like it.

The property was average to above average. The part of town was less than preferable because there were degraded or unsafe surroundings with vagrants hanging around, and no decent restaurants close by.

It’s dated but it’s a great deal for the money and a great shuttle to MD Anderson with a very friendly staff.

Reasonably convenient to the NRG Arena where we were competing in a two-day event. Staff was helpful. Room was clean.

There wasn’t enough food available for snacks

Good location. The room was so nice and convenient. However, the breakfast service needs to be looked at.

Not what expected. had to wait a while for someone to show up at front desk and they were not even answering the phones. When we booked it advertised a free breakfast but when we arrived they had discontinued that after we placed our reservation. No tv remote in the room and the bathroom supplies were lacking or absent. We booked with what should have been a separate bedroom and that was not the case, everything was in same small room, nothing like advertised or pictures and we paid extra for the upgrade. I was told that only king size bed rooms have that option but that is not what they are advertising online, it says separate room and shows the bed sectioned off from the rest of the room. i like that there is a kitchenette but no dishwasher and they give you powdered dish washer soap to wash your dishes with. shampoo and conditioner are in a squeeze bottles attached to the wall and were empty, how housekeeping could not see the bottles were empty and mangled is a mystery. Only a couple of towels for a room that advertises up to 4 people. Overall it was at least clean.

Pros: Friendly staff, security guard always on the premises, clean rooms, free shuttle, DVD library and mini-store, convenient location, minutes from NRG stadium and Herman Park. Plenty of places around to eat. Cons: Orange decor and dark cabinets in rooms appear dated, hard mattresses, breakfast could offer more than just waffles and oatmeal, and coffee decanters aren't kept up with.

Cleanliness is excellent. Other than affordable, kitchen materials are provided if you want to cook your own food.

The pictures we viewed from the website do not do the actual hotel justice when it comes to service, aesthetics, and the overall function of the hotel. When we first arrived the exterior looked nice and well kept. I checked in with the reception lady who seemingly upon first impression looked like she hated her job and life. I was not provided with any information about the hotel such as Breakfast, the pool, or checkout. It was simply "Here's your key, room so and so, have a good day, next". Upon entering the room with my family it looked like a tightly compacted circus with the furniture placed too close. The bed felt as if I was laying on a sheet of rocks, and the pull out couch that shifts Into a bed didn't even have sheets to cover the fiberglass looking mattress. An AC unit was posted literally next to the bed and blowing on us the entire night, so we either melted under the sheets or slept in an ice age. The restroom was probably the only thing that would of looked grand, had it not been for the face plate of the handle to turn the shower on slowly ripping off. Breakfast in the morning was an absolute joke. The only things they had were Waffles, Oatmeal, Coffee and hot water. Everything else was stuck behind a paywall to accommodate your children, or those who don't like what is provided. Might as well just go to HEB down the street and grab yourself accomodations to save the effort and cash. Overall: Don't recommend. Save your money and move on.

It was for medical reasons at MD Anderson. Staff at hotel was friendly and helpful. Not crazy about eco friendly commode; often didn’t flush. Hate the breakfast is gone.
