Middle Beach Lodge

Lodge and staff were exceptional but I did miss having a tv in my room. I had an ocean view room which while small was comfortable but the view was excellent. Great location, extremely clean and an enjoyable stay.

Not worth the $320usd per night. Stayed 4nights. Hard to see where the money goes. The staff super friendly bless them but had no idea. One didn’t know what a corkscrew was. (The room was missing one). One breakfast, this poor guy was left to cook everything and take orders by himself, he was exhausted and I said are you okay, and he said no one showed up to work today- felt very much like a hostel vibe. We went with a small baby, the room was clean enough, but the corners and carpet not baby friendly for sure in terms of cleanliness. I read reviews prior and hoped we weren’t going to have a bad experience- but yes I guess I can’t see where the money goes. The breakfast was burnt pastries, and you have to request cleaning each day, the towels not great, the toiletries pretty cheap. It’s a shame because the location is lovely and the beach is gorgeous. Just wish the management did something.

It’s an interesting place in an amazing setting. We found the room to be very small with no place to sit but the view from the little deck was stunning. The breakfast buffet was good though it was pretty much unchanged in the three days we were there. The adjacent beaches are excellent and the trail to Tonquin Beach from Middle Beach is a must do. Ask about the stairs if mobility is an issue.

So you first walk into your suite w/kitchenette, "Well isn't this nice. Rustic accommodations with a balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean." Then you live there for a few days. There's a place for only one piece of luggage (the suite can accommodate 4), seating is not comfy (except 1 chair), bed super soft and mushy, glasses/dishes on a shelf that is too high, microwave oven and fridge way too low, no wine glasses, 12" frying pan for 8" burner, no microwave ovenware to cook in, bathroom sink drain plugged, black mold in the grout lines of the shower (if there are so many past black mold complaints, and it's still unresolved, then management obviously doesn't care). The complimentary breakfast (paid for in room rate) is the same cold stuff every day, with little selection and weak coffee. On our last day there was no orange juice, "we are waiting for a delivery", and no bread, with only crusts or butts from the day before. No OJ and no bread for breakfast, but we pay the same rate! And finally, every day when it is not raining there are employees making the rounds of the property with noisy leaf blowers. Maybe it's needed to maintain the property, but it's hardly the peaceful, idyllic retreat when a leaf blower is blasting outside your balcony. Management seems to be nonexistent, with no care to the level of service or standards you'd expect for the price. All to say, if you're looking for a clean, well maintained place, with peace and serenity, you've come to the wrong place.
