We both loved the accommodation. It was convenient to get to, had ample parking and we were made welcome. slight down side was that the window in our room were not able to be opened and so the room got very stuffy at night in the heat. maybe fans would be a good idea.

Attractive pub/restaurant/hotel in a very pleasant rural location close to Abingdon. Good bar. Friendly staff. Large, clean family room with comfortable beds and a good shower. Everything we needed for a 2 night stay.

I stayed one night. All interactions with staff were good, they seemed keen to try to do the best they could. I may have been lucky with my room but everything worked OK and it was in a quiet location which I really liked. The bar was fine, evening meal good and breakfast too. For what I paid I would say it was good value and very rare that I visit a hotel without a problem so thank you to the staff at the Dog House!

Very friendly pub with rooms. Nice feel about the place, with a quality breakfast, ample parking, dog friendly, bar area as well as the restaurant, clean restaurant restrooms and good choice of draft beers etc. Hotel room beds comfortable with nice linen, comfy pillows and nice crockery. Unfortunately the hotel side of things appear ‘tired’ in many areas with our bedroom spacious but needing a good paint and furniture needing modern replacements. A lot of marked walls, carpets and furniture. No tea and milk in our room on arrival was quickly sorted by staff, but minimal cheap loo roll, unfilled soaps etc were disappointing. Old shower heads. Rooms need an armchair to sit in as only the bed was comfy. Windows had restricted opening so room hot and stuffy at night (fan available). Food in the restaurant (evening) average, roast dinners were dry. Bar staff shut up shop half an hour early with no last orders called which was a bit disappointing! We would stay again as reasonable charge for room, but with a bit of a make over the place could be amazing.

The restaurant and garden are nice and the service was good. Good selection on the menu, including vegetarian and vegan. The food was very good. Unfortunately the accommodation is extremely tired and is in desperate need of updating / painting. I have been generous with 3 stars as we ate in the restaurant both in the evening and morning. If you are looking for a place to eat which is dog friendly this is perfect.

The Dog House is our ‘go to’ place for a get together, we’re a group of 5 bikers, living miles apart from each other and the Dog House is central for all of us. Another great stay last night, friendly staff, great drink choices and a lovely menu/food. A great breakfast too. Thanks again, all

The room had a window, I am not sure why as it looked across to a wall. The shower just about worked, the control head did not work. There were no tongs for the continental breakfast, so hygine must have been poor.

Hotel rooms very absolutely shocking couldn’t even complain to the staff as reception wasn’t manned after 5pm absolute joke! Avoid! Woke up covered in bites and itching all over, room was depressing, cracked windows, damp and mouldy carpets, bile can’t believe it hasn’t been shut down!

This was our 9th time here, as a group of fellow motorcyclists, this place is a Central meeting place for all of us. The Dog house could do with a lick of paint, but it is clean. Good selection of drinks, decent meals and a good breakfast.

The staff were exceptionally good, friendly, welcoming and professional. The property is clean and well looked after, however while it is in reasonable condition it needs a large number of window frames replacing due to clear indications of rot which will not be solved with paint. It is clear that some management processes are preventing the best operation.

Felt the bedrooms could do with a spruce up, internet poor and room noisy as it was right on the road and the windows don’t seal properly there you could hear the traffic plus cold was coming through them

We were in room 7 , it was very noisy because of been above the kitchen, the extractor fan was on all night, a droning sound could be heard. I would stay again but ask for a different room.

Pleasant stay. Great shower, large room, quiet night, very helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Let down a little by small double bed (felt smaller due to size of room) and no WIFI (apparently they were having issues with it but the way it was described it seemed to be a regular thing and there seemed to be an acceptance of it not working which is not great at all).

I chose the property for being 30 mins from Blenheim Palace - the reason for my visit. I liked that there was a free car park. Check-in was quick and staff were pleasant and gave me all key info I needed - breakfast, booked a table for dinner, emergency phone number. My room was clean and tidy, but was very hot opening or closing the window didn't make any difference. I only stayed one night, but there was plenty of hanging space for clothes. Dinner was ok reasonable choice of pub food menu. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals.

The evening meals and breakfast in the restaurant were very good. Even though the breakfast staff were busy and struggled to get meals out in a timely manner, they still removed the self service counter before all breakfasts were served by 10.00 am !! and did not notify guests. This was poor customer service.

Unfortunately, not a great stay, had to wait to book in, Waited nearly a hour for food to be told order hadn't gone through, although not charged for inconvenience, very under staffed. Rooms very dated and could do with a refresh. generally ok for the price but think with a bit of effort could be a lot better.

The ‘main man’ on reception/ bar duties, welcomed us on arrival and then although he was had anticipated a slightly early night ( ie empty lounge ) was happy to pause closing up so we could enjoy a night cap when returned from our family get together party. It wasn’t late late, only 10.15 but he served us all.

Pleasant stay. Great shower, large room, quiet night, very helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Let down a little by small double bed (felt smaller due to size of room) and no WIFI (apparently they were having issues with it but the way it was described it seemed to be a regular thing and there seemed to be an acceptance of it not working which is not great at all).

the hotel staff were friendly and the rooms clean. No elevators if stairs are an issue. Very old decrepit inn. Road too busy to walk and nothing of interest in the area. You must need your own car if you stay at this inn. Lastly the food in the resteraunt was yucky.

We both loved the accommodation. It was convenient to get to, had ample parking and we were made welcome. slight down side was that the window in our room were not able to be opened and so the room got very stuffy at night in the heat. maybe fans would be a good idea.

Attractive pub/restaurant/hotel in a very pleasant rural location close to Abingdon. Good bar. Friendly staff. Large, clean family room with comfortable beds and a good shower. Everything we needed for a 2 night stay.

The Dog House is our ‘go to’ place for a get together, we’re a group of 5 bikers, living miles apart from each other and the Dog House is central for all of us. Another great stay last night, friendly staff, great drink choices and a lovely menu/food. A great breakfast too. Thanks again, all

The staff here avoided air fresheners at my request, and avoided putting the radiator on. The room was still warm in November. It’s in a lovely rural setting. I would love to stay for pleasure next time.

I chose the property for being 30 mins from Blenheim Palace - the reason for my visit. I liked that there was a free car park. Check-in was quick and staff were pleasant and gave me all key info I needed - breakfast, booked a table for dinner, emergency phone number. My room was clean and tidy, but was very hot opening or closing the window didn't make any difference. I only stayed one night, but there was plenty of hanging space for clothes. Dinner was ok reasonable choice of pub food menu. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals.

The most drab and dreary room, in need of a complete make over. The shower hose made it impossible to use without holding it. It either went straight to the wall or the curtain. No remote control for the television. Food for dinner quantity over quality.

The evening meals and breakfast in the restaurant were very good. Even though the breakfast staff were busy and struggled to get meals out in a timely manner, they still removed the self service counter before all breakfasts were served by 10.00 am !! and did not notify guests. This was poor customer service.

Unfortunately, not a great stay, had to wait to book in, Waited nearly a hour for food to be told order hadn't gone through, although not charged for inconvenience, very under staffed. Rooms very dated and could do with a refresh. generally ok for the price but think with a bit of effort could be a lot better.

Very friendly pub with rooms. Nice feel about the place, with a quality breakfast, ample parking, dog friendly, bar area as well as the restaurant, clean restaurant restrooms and good choice of draft beers etc. Hotel room beds comfortable with nice linen, comfy pillows and nice crockery. Unfortunately the hotel side of things appear ‘tired’ in many areas with our bedroom spacious but needing a good paint and furniture needing modern replacements. A lot of marked walls, carpets and furniture. No tea and milk in our room on arrival was quickly sorted by staff, but minimal cheap loo roll, unfilled soaps etc were disappointing. Old shower heads. Rooms need an armchair to sit in as only the bed was comfy. Windows had restricted opening so room hot and stuffy at night (fan available). Food in the restaurant (evening) average, roast dinners were dry. Bar staff shut up shop half an hour early with no last orders called which was a bit disappointing! We would stay again as reasonable charge for room, but with a bit of a make over the place could be amazing.

Some problems with breakfast. Coffee was cold. Asked for fresh but that was cold as well. Scrambled egg had clearly been cooked some time previously - rubbery! Apart from that, all OK.

The restaurant and garden are nice and the service was good. Good selection on the menu, including vegetarian and vegan. The food was very good. Unfortunately the accommodation is extremely tired and is in desperate need of updating / painting. I have been generous with 3 stars as we ate in the restaurant both in the evening and morning. If you are looking for a place to eat which is dog friendly this is perfect.

L Hotel est facile a trouver le long d un voie principale qui mene vers Oxford,mais bruyant puisque la circulation est continuelle. La chambre 6 est absolument a eviter( chambre triple) Elle se situe au dessus des cuisines,poubelles et du systeme de ventilation,fenetres entre ouvertes ou fermées,il y a un bruits assourdissant de jour comme de nuit.De plus elle est orienté coté circulation. Nous avons demandé a changer pour les 2 dernieres nuits mais impossible. Point positif le personnel est extremement gentil,l hotel est cosi,les repas sont bons mais les parts sont peu fournies.A l exception des petits dejeuners. L exterieur coté ouest est sympa,tables et chaises dehors.
