Room was beautiful and clean. Parking was awful. Specifically asked for parking when I booked. When I arrived it was just first in first served on top floor of parking building. Then had to carry bags down dodgy stinky dark staircase outside to get to reception. Was way too tight to drive up the ramp to the top floor in my Ute. Great room though

Didnt like the access from the car parking area. Down a ramp, across polythene to the access door to the rooms. Check in time shld be the same as other hotels...2pm, not 3pm.

Unfortunately I didn't realize that the hotel was above a restaurant , bar and takeaway place and you had to share the entrance with theses and carpark, with hotel guest having to use the further carpark from entrance. the entrance and lobby was unattended and needed some maintenance as did the room, also very noisy from the traffic and doors closing loudly. Positive the room was well set out and location was ok.

Unfortunately the room we had booked and paid for had been flooded - they rang us on the morning we were to arrive and offered us a smaller room still with a view. They offered to partially refund or include free cooked breakfasts which we accepted. The new room was nice and it was all good value for the price. Shower is noisy though and we moved the couch to enjoy the view and it was filthy underneath with cigarette papers etc but overall really good.

Room was exceptionally large, bathroom had a bath and shower. However, TV didn't initially work, and it took over an hour for someone to come and fix it. Whilst there was a good kitchenette, there was only one knife and fork. Location is really good, near to Botanic Gdns and city centre.

good location in terms of access to the city but room overlooking major traffic intersection so noisy and unable to open windows for fresh air due to traffic fumes. As the hotel is above restaurants we got lots of cooking smells in the common areas

Great sized room looking out over Hagley Park. Loved the extras like toothbrushes, shaving kit, shortbread, full length mirror, champagne glasses and wine glasses, spa bath. Very little road noise. Check in isn’t beautiful but room was brilliant.

Would never recommend made a booking paid for only to be turned away as it was after hours although i had spoken to someone after making booking assured me was no problem...only to arrive and be told there was no booking left with no where to stay the night except in my car 0degress this night and they would not help me to get my refund that i had to call expedia myself which i could only do via online chat i sownr hours online repeating the same scenerio to the lady...has taken 5days to get refund!

I booked on Wotif this hotel and they did not answer any calls I made to make special arrangements. Wotif rep Ronoldo tried and also could not contact them so agreed to cancel…..since then I have heard nothing or seen the refund……. Not very good at all from Wotif or Parkview I am still waiting out of pocket!!!

This accommodation is adequate and sufficient for the price we paid which was very reasonable. We did not have high expectations and are not needy. A room and a bathroom were all we needed for 1 night. We stayed on a Monday night and were lucky to get a corner room with a great view of the trees at Hagley Park. It was a very spacious room although the bed mattress was very hard. Everything was clean and tidy. It was unusual to find the reception area unattended but we figured it out and used the phone to call the receptionist. It was a simple exchange with the person that worked there. No fuss. We parked our van on the top level of the carpark and removed everything from it so nothing to tempt anyone to break in. Common sense and earplugs work well at this good accommodation!

Loved our stay in the hotel the bath was a real highlight! Really clean and it was quieter than I thought being directly next to such a busy junction. Anyway what we found a bit sad was that takeaway in the rooms are kind off not allowed, cause of the smell, that’s what we got from the info in the room, that was a bit sad as it was really rainy and we had our dinner in the car which was not really as we thought it would be and was not really romantic. As I do housekeeping myself in hotels 4* and I never heard of a rule like that and I think they should mention that in description before booking.

*AVOID - book the Grand Riccarton Hotel instead. Round the corner, much nicer and similar price* Room smelt overwhelmingly of the Thai restaurant kitchen below the room (windows were closed). Advised staff who was reportedly a trainee but agreed and gave us two room diffuser sprays, neither worked. After a while the smell was so strong it started to make me feel nauseous and our clothes reeked of the smell. There was also a loud party next door playing music, drinking and banging around. We decided to stay elsewhere. The trainee stated that the manger would be on duty in the morning to organise a refund. We returned in the morning and spoke to another staff member who confirmed we would get a refund after Expedia release the funds. We spoke to Expedia later on who then confirm the funds had already been released to the hotel and that they were refusing to issue a refund. We’ve sent multiple emails to the hotel and manager directly which have all been completely ignored. Save yourself the hassle and book the Grand Riccarton Hotel instead, we booked there last minute after leaving here and was greeted by friendly staff and modern rooms for a very similar price.

We stayed one night and this accommodation was in a very convenient location right on Hagley Park. It was nice to have free parking and decent free wifi. The room and bathroom were both spacious for 3 people. We did, however, find some cleanliness and comfort issues with the hotel. To start, there were multiple visible dirt/marks on the walls and food splatter on the kitchenette wall surface. We tried to sit on the sofa, which appeared to be secondhand and which listed forward to a degree that it was preferable to sit on the floor. The shower made a constant loud whining sound that was audible both inside the shower and for those out in the living space. Overnight street noise didn't surprise us due to the location, but it was loud enough to wake you during the night, so future travelers should aware of that. Last, the front desk seemed unattended during 2 attempts to contact with a question about checkout. And the foyer smelled perpetually of cooked meats due to the presence of a chicken restaurant attached to the hotel.

The room was clean, warm and spacious. Great location. I found the absence of any staff when I checked in rather off putting and was a bit unsure about where I could park. All in all, a very good deal for the price.
