Oceanfront Historic Retreat! 7 sovrum, 4 badrum

We love this property. It’s very accommodating for our family of all ages.

Had a great stay at this property ! You just can’t beat the location, views and the historic nature of the house. The beach is perfect for walking, surfing and while busy it was not crazy. Love the open gathering rooms. The rental team was super easy to work with and very responsive.

SUPER! We were a family of 13, 5 kids 3-12 and 6 adults. The house is old but not yucky old. It is great! Fully stocked, body wash, shampoo and conditioner in every shower including the TWO in the garage! There is tons of beach equipment including sand toys, beach chairs, boogie boards AND fins! The kitchen is also totally stocked with cooking stuff and eating stuff. The TWO refrigerators were great too! All rooms had nice beds with clean linens and PLENTY of bathroom towels AND beach towels! The description is correct about the railings and we were “all hands on deck” when the 3 year old was up and about but never had a problem. The tv room has a ping pong table also! And on top of all that, the location is super outstanding, easy walk into town and right on the beach. We would and just might return yearly!

The location is everything about this property! It does not get much better in Del Mar, CA. The management was very responsive and helpful. The beach is excellent: surf directly in front, beach vollyball, with outside and inside (garage) showers for post-beach activites. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Plenty of parking. Read the description very carefully, it is accurate.The house, furniture and amentities are very old and tired. The layout is odd, no access directly onto the beach patio. The place needs a facelift, especially furniture, paint and windows. The windows are difficult to see out of to the beach, paint is peeling everywhere especially on the outside and balconies and the furniture is not comfortable. Most of the rooms have single beds, so it sleeps a lot of people, just not couples. Its great for families with lots of kids. Overall, this is a beach house with a location that cannot be better. Don't expect luxury, just fun.

The house itself, and the location were fabulous - on the water, in a great area of Delmar. I have stayed in dozens of rentals like this . Where this house really lacked was in “amenities.“ There was no user manual to explain the house, there was no coffee, even a small amount, to get you through to the next morning. There was no sense of welcome or personal touches from the host. The fireplace was dirty - no firewood on site. I had to text management regarding where to buy firewood. This lack of attention was typical: no ice, (the ice maker was broken,) no broom - it’s on a beach, so there’s sand in the house, no soap - It all added up to a lack of good service. But we had a great time, and it’s a lovely location.
