The location is right on the ocean which is terrific and the views spectacular. Walking distance to Reis Magos beach and several restaurants and a lovely bakery. The resort was very clean and the people friendly and hard working. Great entertainment each evening and a late afternoon happy hour. We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely hotel with stunning sea view by the coast. Excellent breakfast friendly staff. I can recommend this stay to everyone. What I am finding quite as a disadvantage is the opening times for pools sauna steam room and the gym only by 6 pm which I think it should be available longer hours per day for guests

No parking included and paid parking is very small . High risk of bumping into other cars. Wifi in room was really bad and there was a dampening effect on wifi and cellular data. My shower drain was very slow. Water accumulates a lot while showering

Amazing stay at Rocamar. We had a beautiful sea view room and the reception staff were very helpful whenever we had questions. Caniço is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal. The hotel even had a diving centre located inside where we were able to sign up for a try dive last minute!

Rocarmar ist eine schöne weitläufige Hotelanlage direkt am Atlantik! Die Poolanlage ist sehr reizvoll verteilt, dadurch bekommt man nicht das Gefühl von einem überfülltem Hotel. Das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Allerdings muss ich doch einen Stern abziehen, vielleicht unsererseits kleinlich, aber es hat uns leider etwas geärgert. Wir hatten unseren Mietwagen auf dem hoteleigenen Parkplatz geparkt (tgl. 07.50 Euro bezahlt). Am Abreisetag wollten wir das Auto bis ca. 14.00 Uhr da stehen lassen (Tageswechsel 12.00 Uhr/ genügend freie Parkplätze noch vorhanden) welches uns leider untersagt wurde - einfach schade! Durch diese "Kleinigkeit" bekamen unsere sehr guten Erfahrungen mit dem Hotel einen Dämpfer!!!

Sehr gute Erfahrung, dennoch könnten Punkte verbessert werden. - Der Blick von den Restaurants ist atemberaubend. Man ist sofort am Meer. Eine Bushaltestelle und Supermärkte sind um die Ecke. - Das Personal ist stets hilfsbereit und spricht sehr gutes Englisch. In der Hotelbar gibt es ab und zu Livemusik. - Das Zimmer ist recht groß, mit Kochnische, Kühlschrank, Wasserkocher, Mikrowelle, Besteck und Geschirr ausgestattet. Der Blick vom Zimmer ist schön. Im Bad gibt es ein Bidet, das hat mir gefallen. Leider gibt es nur eine Dusche in der Badewanne, das ist etwas altmodisch, ich bevorzuge ebenerdige Duschen. - Das Frühstücksbuffet ist super. Es gibt jeden Tag frisches Obst, kontinentales & englisches Frühstück. Der Saft war seltsam, er schmeckte wie Pulver mit Zucker. - Dass das Hotel ein Komplex aus 5 Hotels ist, war verwirrend. Es ist schwer, den Eingang zum Spa im Royal Orchid zu finden. Die Pools in Royal Orchid sind warm & mit Sauna & Dampfbad in gepflegtem Zustand, aber haben zu kurze Öffnungszeiten (10:00 bis 18:30). Vor dem Frühstück oder dem Abendessen kann man nicht schwimmen. Die Pools in Cais de Oliveira haben dieselben Öffnungszeiten, werden aber nicht abgeschlossen, das Problem ist: Das Wasser ist immer kalt. - Es gibt keinen Shuttle zum Flughafen. Mit dem Bus zum Flughafen, braucht man fast 2 Stunden, da man umsteigen muss. Ich würde wiederkommen, wenn die Öffnungszeiten der Pools von 6:30 bis 24:00 wären & es einen Shuttle zum Flughafen gäbe.

Super Anlage mit direktem Zugang zum Meer. Parkplatz kann gegen Aufpreis dazu gebucht werden und ist mit einer Schranke versehen. Frühstück war ausbaufähig. Wenig Abwechslung und lieblos angerichtet. Massenabfertigung mehr nicht. Wenn man sich gesund ernähren möchte gab es wenig Auswahl!

Hotel / Appartement is een onderdeel van 3 complexen. Dit appartement is een klein beetje gedateerd en het zwembad, met name de toegang tot de zee is zeer verouderd en behoeft onderhoud. Het zwembad en de Spa van het hoofd complex is zeer goed en ook voor iedereen toegankelijk. Locatie is schitterend, maar het dorp zelf ligt een stuk verderop. Winkels en restaurants in de buurt. Ontbijt is okay!

Quiet hotel, Magnificent studio nr. 308. (see pictures) Breakfast is good enough with diverse options like fresh fruit, omelet, yoghurt etc. Very good and customer friendly staff, Clean rooms. Only comment: bed matrasses were a little bit to firm.

The sea view was lovely and the beds were pretty comfortable. Had balcony which was nice. The hotel had several parts. We were in the Rocamar self catering studios and I have to say felt like we were treated less because of this. The royal orchard is very smart & shiny. The self catering block was tired and a bit run down. There was rust & peeling around the mirror in bathroom & bottom of the bathroom door was flaking wood & paint. There were ants in the kitchenette ( probably not much can be done in a hot country but meant we barely ate there having made effort to go self catering with my small child & not have the stress & pay to eat out all the time with 5 yr old). When it rained the room flooded very badly. Luckily I did nit have anything on the floor on that side of the room. The drain from the roof empties into the patio which slopes towards the room so a LOT of water came in. I had to use all the towels & blankets to stop it. When I told reception in the morning she just shrugged and said the cleaner would bring towels. They were in no way apologetic or even very bothered about it.

Had a great week at Rocamar, beautiful views, great breakfast, very clean hotel, very friendly staff besides the guys at the reception who are not as friendly and engaging! But would definitely stay there again.

Our bathroom flooded and it never got fixed. There was a pool of water every time we opened the tap or tried to shower. Breakfast was fantastic. Veiws amazing! No room service tho

The first thing that you need from a hotel is good sleep. With the almost-flat pillows here it was a terrible sleep. Hotel has amazing views of the ocean situated right on top of it. Room was large and comfortable. Good value for money too.

Noisy but changed to a better room after one night

complexe très touristique : tourisme de masse donc bruyant (clim, ventilation resto etc) , studio sea view cais de oliveira dans son jus très vieillot ! vieux carrelage ... froid et ancien. Vue mer partielle Du monde au complexe SPA, pas de peignoir etc. Bon PDJ même si tout n'est pas tout frais. Par contre vue exceptionnelle depuis le resto! Avis assez mitigé un peu sévère mais on venait de Aqua natura madeira à Porto Moniz où on a été chouchouté dans un environnement et un complexe au top ! Un peu plus plus cher mais vraiment un gros niveau au dessus ! Donc bilan : bien mais il y a mieux !

Premiumzimmer mit Meerblick gebucht. Beim Check-in hatten wir explizit um ein ruhiges Zimmer gebeten und die Antwort erhalten, dass alle Zimmer eine ruhige Lage hätten. Unser Zimmer lag dann direkt über der Bar, mit lauter Live-Musik an jedem Abend der Woche bis 22.30 Uhr. Das ist weder eine ruhige Lage, noch ein kundenfreundlicher Umgang mit einem Hotelgast. Würde ich daher trotz der sehr schönen Aussicht auf das Meer nicht mehr buchen. Abgesehen von der Mitarbeiterin der Rezeption ist allerdings die besondere Freundlichkeit der Servicemitarbeiter (Restaurant, Bar, Reinigung) hervorzuheben. Die Lage direkt am Meer sowie die Hotelterrasse sind die Highlights des Hauses.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Hotel is located right on the ocean and walkable to restaurants and markets. Our room had a fantastic sea view, spacious clean with big walk-in shower and very quiet. Buffet breakfast was satisfactory with plenty of seating. Happy hour in the bar was a nice bonus. Paid parking is recommended as street parking is limited.

Long wait at reception even just to return a towel. Very grumpy older lady at reception, although other staff there were very nice. Terrible dinner buffet (overcooked tuna, vegetables etc), dishes almost empty and not repleneshed, poor dessert choice (1 cake!!), very expensive (29.50 euros which for two was almost 100.00!!!!). Many other option to eat in the area.No shade at primary pool area. Room very clean, beds very hard. Very pleasant cleaning staff and SAMUEL at the omelette station for breakfast was amazing!!!! Breakfast buffet was very good. If you stay here be prepared to walk uphill to get anywhere. It was fine for us, but anyone who has difficulty walking would struggle!! Unfortunately I would not recommend this resort as there are many other options in the area.

Our room was excellent, clean, bed was very good, lots of pools with loungers etc, on site restaurant had excellent food, service was excellent.

Habe dort zum 5.mal gebucht, alles Top, besonders die Geschenke als Wiederholungsgast und zu meinem Geburtstag, haben mich gefreut.

Great location. Calm area by the ocean. Close to everything you need : public bus stop, taxi or rentals, snorkeling and dive office, grocery stores, restaurants and cafes. Our stay has been upgraded with no initial request for. That sense of initiative was very much appreciated. The support and service from reception and also from canteen have been on a top level ! Thank you to all the team!

Foi tudo bem, mas a recepção não é calorosa, a gerente foi um pouco impaciente. O hotel em termos de estrutura foi uma boa surpresa, vistas lindas, de frente para o mar, bom cafe da manha e certo conforto. Mas o resort è dividido em 4 sub hoteis (creio que o Rocamar foi comprando os hoteis menores) e meu quarto, apesar de confortável, caiu no prédio mais antigo, nao era renovado e tudo era um pouco antigo (ainda que funcionasse corretamente). Não ha garagem, mas é facil estacionar gratuitamente na rua. otimo custo beneficio.

L´hotel Rocamar se trouve sur les falaises au bord de l´océan, les rochers sont aménagés pour profiter de la vue avec des accès à l´eau, à 10 minutes de Funchal en voiture, l´emplacement est parfait pour explorer l´île et le restaurant en self service est très garni. Petit bémol sur les places de stationnements gratuites aux abords de l´hotel. 5/5

Prachtig Resort, zeer goed ontbijtbuffet, mooie locatie, wel een beetje lastig op en neer, maar dit is over het hele eiland zo. Dicht bij luchthaven (10 min met taxi).

Das Hotel hat eine gute und ruhige Lage. In der Nähe gibt es eine Bushaltestelle für einen Linienbus nach Funchal. Es gibt aber auch einen eigenen Hotelbus nach Funchal 1x täglich. Leider waren vor unserem Balkon mit Meerblick ständig Gärtner am Arbeiten oder haben eben ihr Werkzeug abgestellt (Schubkarren über Nacht) Deswegen mussten wir oft die Gardinen oder sogar das Fenster schließen um nicht beobachtet zu werden. Im Großen und Ganzen war der Aufenthalt ok.

Only stayed one night, close to airport and was able to relax in pools and have dinner ar the hotel before leaving early in the morning which made it very convenient. Easy access from highway.

Bien situé - calme - personnels accueillants

Formule Resort. On se sent en vacances ! Les vues sur la mer sont fantastiques et la nourriture excellente. Il faut cependant une voiture, car c'est à 10 km de Funchal ou de l'aéroport. Places de stationnement gratuites mais limitées. Premiers arrivés, premiers servis.

Limit wifi connection throughout the hotels property. Only food in the restaurant and bar area.

Great front desk. Great facilities. Clean and bright and big rooms. Breakfast (due to the rain) was crowded and a bit harried inside with tour groups there. Suggest breakfast out somewhere if the resort is busy. Food excellent. Coffee wait a bit of a problem. Great restaurants nearby. Overall wonderful stay.

Je recommande vivement cet hôtel! La localisation est top, dans un quartier très calme. Le personnel était sympathique. La chambre était vraiment bien: très propre, grande, la vue mer magnifique, et elle disposait de tout ce qu’il fallait. C’était très cosy, je m’y suis bien sentie. Le petit déjeuner était très bon. L’accès au spa et aux différentes piscines était un vraiment bonus. Le restaurant Lee Hamilton est tres bon. Il y a de nombreux autres restaurants et petites épiceries dans le quartier. Je trouve le rapport qualité-prix vraiment excellent. J’étais ravie de mon séjour ! Seule "amélioration" souhaitée pour ma part: plus de navettes vers la ville (un seul aller et un seul retour proposés actuellement).
