This hotel is in spacious grounds and you wouldn't think you were near the centre of a major city. It is just about worthy of its 4 Star rating. Only stayed for one night so limited experience of facilities. Staff were helpful especially in the restaurant but we found the restaurant a bit claustrophobic - small and no external windows, and a somewhat limited menu for a 4* hotel. . The Spa was OK. The 'Privilege' room was of a generous size and well appointed but the view of close-by trees made the room a bit dark. We were puzzled as to why there was only one armchair in a double room as there was plenty of space for two and also the lack of information in the room about the hotel . Only one small gripe - the marmalade dispenser was empty but when we advised the staff nothing was done during the whole duration of breakfast. Small issue but annoying.

Not bad but could do with a clean. The pool was very nice but again a bit shabby. Room was OK but let down by bathroom being a bit shoddy. Grounds are lovely with ducks on the lake.

Staff excellent. Room good on the whole. Nice atmosphere to the place. Pool small but good for a quick dip . Spa treatment, had an excellent massage from Chloe. Will stay again.

booked at a bargain price on hotels . Com. A nice easy walk into town and a cheap Uber home. The pools lovely , enjoy it. Free parking more than helps to compensate for the small premium over city centre hotels.

The service was great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our initial room had a very strange strong unpleasant smell so we asked to be moved. They moved us happily into another room but unfortunately that smelt of stale smoke but it was preferable to the first room. The facilities were good. We used the gym, pool and sauna several times during our stay. They are very small so if it’s busy it might be an issue. Food and drink was good.

Lovely hotel, 25 mins walk into the centre. Buffet breakfast was nice. Gym facilities were ok - opens at 7am & spa at 8am. Rooms look a little tired & could benefit from a refresh, but they were clean. Lighting in room awful for doing hair & makeup!

Initially the room was adequate. On inspection Room 301 is dated requires significant repainting; filling and caulking in many places and round shower and bath. I gave a full written report to the Housekeeping manager. The was NOT CLEANED at all no change of Towels and Bed not made on the Monday 19th May of our 3 night stay. I have requested a Reund.

Very poor overall, terrible breakfast and poor organisation in the breakfast hall. No plates available, glasses or coffee cups, big queues of everyone chasing all the above, low quality ingredients been used. Only water coming out of the orange and apple juice dispenser. Bedrooms really cold, no hot water in the morning. Went to tell reception twice but no one available. And then previous guests private things left in bedside cupboard, so not checked by the cleaning team beforehand.

This hotel has underinvested in both its maintenance and staffing. Only one member of staff on duty at breakfast. My bedroom curtains had blood splatter across them, along with a broken wardrobe door and a bathroom door that would not fully open. Grim is really not the word! The grounds have homeless men wandering around.

The public areas were dirty this included the bar area, restaurant and spa. The latter was filthy with hair, tissue and scum in the steam room, pool area and changing rooms. The gym had dirty tissue which was there when I arrived and still there two days later. No hot water in the room and it was almost 12 hours later before I was offered another room. The restaurant service was terrible. It took an hour for the first course to be served and over twenty minutes passed with no sign of a dessert. The reception staff were never present at the desk and spent all their time in what appeared to be a back office. Thoroughly disappointed

Property was poorly maintained, shower door didn’t stop the water pouring down the side and flooding the bathroom floor. Glasses were unclean, light fixtures were filthy, cracks in the bath tub that had been filled with black stuff and hadn’t even tidied up the messy excess filler.

It was a tale of two halves. Nicky and Lisa on reception were really helpful and pleasant, as were the other staff we interacted with, but housekeeping let the side down. Lipstick marked glasses and a less than pristine bath on arrival; our cups weren't refreshed but towels were (even though we didn't ask for them) on the second day. It is a lovely spot though.

Elise on reception was the highlight upon our arrival. Very personable and helpful. Room was poor standard, no lighting in main area other than one lamp by the bed and one on dressing table. Altogether dingy. Pillows in particular did not smell fresh, disgusting. Bathroom shabby with rusted light fitments and stains on door. Definitely would not recommend.

It's in a fantastic location, easy to access, beautiful and spacious grounds. My room was - admittedly - literally the furthest from the reception area and thus the wi-fi was pretty unreliable. However, the transportation links to downtown Sheffield are easy, the breakfast buffet was excellent and the 24 hour bar was a major plus. Highly recommended.

The staff were all very welcoming to our children. Kelly went out her way to help us with our luggage as we were leaving. The room was very spacious even with our double pram and travel cot in the there as well. The only two bits that were disappointing were the ants by the pancake machine for breakfast and the room was tired, it needs a refurb!

This hotel is in a good location when we are visiting family. The grounds are very nice and quiet. We had a great room on this stay, but it was almost unbearably hot both in the room and on the corridor leading to the room. It definitely needs air conditioning!

Inexperienced staff unfamiliar with hotel systems and equipment resulting in long waits at check in and for service at bar. Some staff apparently indifferent to the fact that they are working in a service industry and that their wages ultimately depend on them providing a service to their guests - the customers. I doubt after this recent experience that they will benefit from any further contributions to their income from me.

The newer part - where my room was - was functional, if not beautiful, but lovely and clean and comfortable, with gorgeous linen and towels. The older part was really lovely and very worth preserving and maintaining. The absolute best part of my stay was the staff. All impeccable, friendly and professional. Thank you Warlei for my clean, fresh room; Charley and Ellise on the front desk, Paul and Chloey in hospitality as well as all the rest of the team who worked so hard. You’re all marvellous!

We stay at the Kenwood hotel whenever we visit my son and daughter - we've had our ups and downs with staff and facilities in the past However this stay has been exceptional - our double rooms were upgraded to Premium with no extra cost - the rooms were beautiful - spacious - warm - clean - fantastic I wiuld like to thank the manager on duty today - his enthusiasm professionalism shone through - we were sitting in the lounge waiting to leave - I saw and heard the guests respond to him as he looked after their needs It was refreshing to see an attentive manager. Hope his attitude and standards show in the rest of the staff
We stay at the Kenwood hotel whenever we visit my son and daughter - we've had our ups and downs with staff and facilities in the past However this stay has been exceptional - our double rooms were upgraded to Premium with no extra cost - the rooms were beautiful - spacious - warm - clean - fantastic I wiuld like to thank the manager on duty today - his enthusiasm professionalism shone through - we were sitting in the lounge waiting to leave - I saw and heard the guests respond to him as he looked after their needs It was refreshing to see an attentive manager. Hope his attitude and standards show in the rest of the staff

I booked a room through Hotels.com for Thur 26th June. I was not told when I booked that there was a prom that night and all I wanted was a quick meal and an early night. The restaurant was full, as no other guests wanted to sit near the unbelievable loud music. There was also a coach tour of what can only be described as pensioners so to say it was busy was an understatement. I stood 5 deep at the bar to order a Lamb Kofta hanging Kebab and a glass of wine. I asked for a receipt but because the music was so loud they ignored me and served the next person. My food was very undercooked and ended up being eaten by the dogs sitting next to me. Please see the attached photo. When I finished I asked to speak to the manager, he said that they were too busy to print my receipt but reception will print it for me in the morning. I messaged the hotel from hotels.com to ask for the receipt in the morning and nearly a week later no response. In the morning reception said that there was no manager on shift last night. They said I spoke to a supervisor and he should know that reception cannot print out bar receipts. 1 week later and I'm still £30 out of pocket.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed so far by hotel.com bookings! No customer service at all!!! We all had to wait so long for someone to come out of the front office for checking in! And they were not in mood of helping their customers, everything were turned down and ‘NO’! One of the guests had no choice but changed to Double-tree immediately after checked in! The frost desk simply doesn’t answer any calls fm rooms, they just said ‘will call u back’ and hanged up, but never called back. I had to walk at least 3-4m to get to the front desk for a very simple question regarding their spa facility! No comparison whatsoever to the MERCURE chain hotel in Germany! Breakfast is not good too! Anyway, would never be back again! Will make a serious complain to C.S. after return.

The best part of this hotel is definitely the location. It is in a tranquil oasis just a few minutes away from Sheffield city centre. Sadly although the area was beautiful it was let down by litter in the hotel grounds and very unkempt & overgrown trees & bushes everywhere. Access to the patio was limited - only being accessible via the restaurant/function room or by walking around the back of the hotel and battling along an overgrown footpath. The room we stayed in was extremely tired although functional. A shabby bathroom & poor quality & limited selection of tea & coffee making facilities. We had breakfast our first morning for ease and again although some elements were good there was a poor choice in some areas. No marmalade or choice of jam on a breakfast buffet?? Just again a cheap, poor quality strawberry jam in plastic packaging, The staff were all very helpful and polite.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kenwood Hall. It was the perfect location for exploring Sheffield and the Peak District, with the added bonus that it is dog friendly too! A special mention for Hollie working in the cafe/restaurant area, who was very helpful and friendly!

Lovely location, handy for this part of Sheffield. Hotel is quite used by now - ready for a spruce up, from head to toe. Nice, helpful staff. Parking included in room rate is an advantage.

Lovely hotel, 25 mins walk into the centre. Buffet breakfast was nice. Gym facilities were ok - opens at 7am & spa at 8am. Rooms look a little tired & could benefit from a refresh, but they were clean. Lighting in room awful for doing hair & makeup!

We regularly stay here as it’s close to our family. The rooms are big, warm and comfortable with the addition of bathrobes. and the beds are to our liking. A bit of comfort on a cold autumnal day. The breakfast’s are fabulous with a large selection of hot and cold foods. The grounds of the hotel are nicely laid out and come in handy to walk our dog

Supermarket bread rolls, raw steak, slow service, freezing cold restaurant. So cold couldnt eat desert. Spoke to a manager who promised to rectify meal problems. Still waiting despite several emails.

The staff, particularly Amhieet, were delightful! They made the stay pleasant. However, there was a large event happening at the hotel that we were not made aware of until after we checked in. This event was blasting music until 12AM which prevented us from sleeping. We would have appreciated being emailed beforehand so that we could make alternate arrangements instead of having no choice but to stay awake half the night. Additionally, the toilet in our room was only barely functional and despite reporting it to reception, nothing was done to try to repair it or move us to a different room. They told us to just press the handle harder, which did not make a difference. There was mold in the shower heads, half a used cigarette on the floor of the bathroom, and no plugs near the beds to charge devices. Lastly, the WiFi was almost nonexistent and even the television struggled to display anything. Very disappointed because the property was beautiful and we were greatly looking forward to a relaxing stay.

Lovely friendly staff. Our room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Dinner in the hotel was excellent. We plumped for simple fish and chips. The portion was huge, the fish was fresh, the batter crispy and the chips were 'proper good'!

We have stayed in this hotel perhaps 5 times over a number of years. We like it's location and the garden is lovely. Although it used to seem a little old-fashioned we enjoyed spacious rooms. This time we found that our room, although clean, had a rather tired look. The public area seemed very noisy, with intrusive music. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was rather disappointing, with the marmalade 'extractor' not working and with no substitute (marmalade in a jar?) on one day and a pancake maker which appeared to be out of action. The orange juice was disappointing, there was no mustard available, the scrambled egg had separated (a solid mass and a watery liquid) and there was no fried egg and no notice that it would be available shortly. Even the range of cereals seemed very dull, although muesli and granola were available on our second day. Signs of a little more care taken would go a long way to improve things.

The food experience was strange - on three occasions substitutions were made to menu items and delivered to us without explanation, including a vegan curry for a chicken curry. Although the food was cooked well, ingredient quality, particularly the fresh salads, was low. The room was also not cleaned properly, with lots of dust on crockery and in bathroom. On one morning, breakfast arrived over an hour late. Whilst staff did apologise, items were still missing from the tray.

The staff are lovely and friendly, but this hotel needs updating, the rooms are really worn, thread bare carpets and very tired bathrooms, no privacy at the windows unless you close the curtains and the lighting in the room was provided by lamps, for a Mercure hotel this is shameful, especially for the price paid, we were disappointed.
