Great one night stay. Great lobby, bar and restaurant with a sea view! Room was a little dated but bed very comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet and very good

The hotel advertises that it has car parking. But you cannot reserve it - it is first come, first served. Also once you have parked your car you cannot take the car out (to visit friends or go to dinner) as the space can be taken by someone else. If that happens they will refund your £28 and you have no where to park your car. The room was small, the floor uneven, the window opened just one inch but took a lot of effort as it was painted over. View was of another building - no sea view.

the property itself was lovely but the parking is clearly inadequate and I didn't clock this on the booking site. it needs to be made much much clearer that it is expected that patrons will be expected to park off site.

The hotel is great. A little further down from the business of the waterfront. The bar and communal areas are great. The only negative is car parking there is probably only room for 15 cars and no deals on local car parks. This added another £60 to the stay.

Perfect one night stay, excellent value. Car ark very small and relatively expensive (£28 per day) but that's not bad for Brighton and it's convenient to park on site.

Excellent check-in service by welcoming staff. Great location opposite the beach and near 360 viewing platform. 15 minute stroll to the pier. Room was clean and bed comfy. Parking on site is limited but reasonable price at £28 for 24 hrs or £18 if you join via app.

The room was unclean, carpet had marks on it. Toilet bowl was dirty at the bottom.

It is a beautiful period property in a great location. But, it is very poorly maintained. Carpets are threadbare; my room smelt of damp or mould and I left the window open and went for a walk for a couple of hours to air it. Carpet in the bedroom had noticeable stains. Corridors were not well hoovered - there were feathers from pillows for instance and in more than one area. I was very dissapointed in the condition and it's a shame to let such a lovely building go downhill. I was so put off by the condition and therefore ambiance that I ate elsewhere. The location is excellent and so were the staff.

Staff were lovely as always, especially breakfast team, can’t do enough for you! This was our fourth stay, we will return however, the carpet in the public area needs either a very deep clean or replacement. I’m shocked you switched restaurant and bar without sorting the carpet. It’s filthy, you can still see where the coffee machine etc had been, not attractive! Everything else in the hotel cleaned to a high standard, carpet really letting you down! Gorgeous view from our room!

Enterence to the hotel was terrible - dirty doors and glass on doors. carpets were old and dirty all around reception area and all the way to my room in Mews. There was hardly anyone attending the reception. It isn't obvious to guest where reception area is.

The hallways are dinghy and carpets dirty. The room was bad. Dirty carpets. Net curtains and curtains befitting a 1960's Council Flat. Room decor way beyond requiring redecoration and updating

Very clean and well maintained hotel. Comfortable and quiet rooms. Excellent service for all staff who interacted with us throughout the hotel, bar and restaurant. Will definitely use this hotel again next time we visit Brighton.

Room was disappointing. Radiator was really dirty in between the fins which visible and should be easy to clean. Carpet is cream which showed up a lot of stains and back of bathroom door had stains down it near the bottom which was rather unpleasant. Bed was comfy and room had enough facilities. Hotel looks a little tired with carpets and decorating on stairway and corridors. Staff all pleasant and service was good. Think it is overpriced based on the above but overall not too bad.

Rooms are clean, well decorated and attractive. Coffee and tea making facilites are a welcome plus as is the bath mat for the shower! Toiletries are excellent quality and bedding cool crisp cotton making for a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast is a hearty varied buffet to suit all tastes A fabulous stay that doesn't break the bank! Overall lobby decorations are stunning.

Ok the hotel is in a nice location on the water. Plenty of restaurants around. A lengthy walk to the pier and a shorter walk to Eye 360. However, mid August still fairly warm and No AC. Yes, no AC. Seems to be acceptable in England to have no AC in hotels but just a small fan you place on the desk to attempt to cool off your room. What else can I say, I’ve stayed at a Mercure in Nice and thought it was top notch so I selected this on based on the name.

The entrance and staff were nice. The room looked very old, even though it had been completely modernized. The room has everything but was not soundproofed so we were woken when the people above came in at night. Then the hall and loud weird noises in the night. Not making for a good place to rest before we travel the early next morning

Lovely hotel, managed to check in early which was really useful as we managed to drop luggage before wandering into Brighton. Hotel receptionists were really helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable and adjoining balconies were great as we had 4 rooms together. Only issue was shower, not very powerful but would definitely stay again

The carpet in the room could have done with a proper shampooing and cleaning if not replacing. In addition, there were no plug sockets by the bedside. I have to use a CPAP machine when I sleep and was unable to use it as the plug socket was too far away.

Despite being an older hotel the accommodation was good with functional, well equipped rooms and parking available. The hotel was having new carpet fitted and the results look good. Excellent power shower. No street noise and a fan to help keep the room cool.

Pigeons have colonised the back of the hotel. There’s feathers and faeces all over the window sill and I was woken at 4am each day by pigeons cooing loudly.

Bkd a double room but room and bed were tiny. It was definitely a single occupancy room. Staff were friendly and room was clean.

Hotel and staff were nice however the room was very small and the air conditioner wasn’t working properly and the room had no proper window and was extremely hot and we got cooked with no air con and no proper window to air out.

I have travelled on business throughout the UK for over 20 years and it’s a sad fact but the standard of customer services seems to be in decline… well I am so pleased to say that is not the case here. Barry, Marta and the young lady on reception on her first day were Amazing! Bar staff too made my return stay as good as my first! Thank you

I had a fantastic stay at Mercure Brighton Seafront. The staff were absolutely amazing and couldn’t do enough for us – their friendly and attentive service really made our visit special. The hotel’s location is ideal, with the stunning beach just steps away. One minor downside was the condition of the carpets, which were stained and could use replacing, but it didn’t detract too much from the overall experience. For dining, we were thrilled to discover *The Gingerman* restaurant just around the corner – highly recommend it for an incredible meal!"

I complained the morning after my stay as the banging noise of the window kept me up ALL night as I thought someone was trying to get into my room. I spoke to staff and they said the manager would call me on Monday and still had no call one whole week after!

We loved the retro feel. The rooms were lovely & clean. They had everything you need. Lovely sea views from the bar & restaurant for breakfast. The best bit is the service. The gentleman that checked us in & Barry could not do enough for us.

Our receptionist was Martina and when the room we were directed to proved too noisy she calmly offered us an alternative in the Mews which proved to be perfect and quiet.

I booked the Mercure Seafront Brighton for my fiancé's 40th birthday as part of his celebrations. At room only £160 pounds for a basic room with no sea view was a bit beyond my budget but I hoped it would be a good experience anyway. Unfortunately, on check-in we had to queue for over 30 minutes for no obvious reason which put a real dampner on our spirits. I didn't even gather any useful information in check-in but it's still took 15 minutes per person. This was softened however by a welcome birthday card with some chocolates and two complimentary drinks (beer , wine or soft) in the hotel bar. The room however was underwhelming for the price I paid. Our view was ugly fire escapes from neighbouring buildings, the towels were old and pretty threadbare, the bathroom looked like it had a half been decorated, and we had a fire escape door right by our heads in bed which went on to a corridor - not particularly relaxing or special. Overall, an underwhelming experience.

We were greeted by the excellent staff of Mercure Brighton. There was a confusion with the names but Barry kept us engaged and entertained throughout the check-in process. Eoin was a great help throughout our stay as well. The breakfast spread was very impressive too. The only reason why I’ve deducted a star from the rating is because the standard rooms don’t have aircons. The room was therefore quite warm at night and the sleep wasn’t as great as I’d have wished for after paying north of £200 for the room. Everything apart from that aspect was perfect or beyond.

Great centrally located hotel. Exceptional friendly staff but could do with more of them at the front desks and queues were lengthy at check in and whenever I needed them. The telephone was never answered. Overall a lovely stay

Excellent stay at the hotel. Staff were very friendly, efficient and happy to go the extra mile - Barry especially! Breakfast was beautiful, however I wish there was a menu, rather than just “what do you want and we’ll see if we can provide it” situation. Room was clean and fresh, very bright. Aileen our room service staff member did a wonderful job. A few areas of the hotel needed updating, but it’s an old Victorian building so we understand the challenge to alter things. There was a breeze from the balcony doors (112) though luckily we welcome a cool room! The windows in the bathroom were unable to be opened after a shower due to what I believe is original windows. The bed was firm, which doesn’t really fit our preference so we both had sore backs briefly in the morning! But some people love this, and you can’t cater to everyone!! Overall, we had a wonderful experience, would highly recommend it to family, friends or colleagues. It felt comfortable and safe also.

We had a lovely stay at the Mercure Seafront hotel in Brighton. The hotel itself was lovely & in a great location. The breakfast was great too. The only slight downside was the shower wasn't the best, not very powerful. Would stay here again though, regardless.

This hotel is in a good location and is right on the beach, with the Brighton i360 only a short walk away. Some things to note. The front part of the hotel looks great but if rear is looking tired and could do with a refurbishment. I paid extra for a privilege room but again found it to be tired, unclean (e.g. black mould on the majority of the bathroom tiles) and the light switch to the bathroom was faulty. If you are planning to use their car park, make sure you tell the hotel in advance, as you need to reserve, something that wasn’t clear when booking. Despite all this, the front of house staff were friendly.

So me, my husband and 1 year old stayed here at the Mercure for 2 nights at the beginning of January. It was a spontaneous booking but we are so glad we booked this hotel. There is parking at the hotel so great for you to just leave your car and know that it is safe. The moment we went into the hotel it was absolutely breathtaking, the hotel is amazing and looked beautiful. It was an easy process when we arrived and they checked us in quickly and easily. They gave us all the information that we needed to enjoy our stay. A Scottish man behind the desk was absolutely lovely and so friendly. He really made you feel so welcomed. All the staff were very friendly and were there if you needed them. They were so friendly and welcoming to my daughter and made it feel really included. Our hotel room, was lovely and spacious and had a double bed and a single bed and the bathroom was huge. It was very clean and I had a lovely nights sleep. The hotel is on the sea front and local to all attractions. I would say roughly 15min walk to Brighton pier. Which we liked as we walked along the sea front each morning and my daughter got to run around and enjoy a walk and we grabbed a coffee on the way at the coffee shop ( which is lovely). We had breakfast every morning, which again was lovely. They have a Buffett of English breakfast and then fruit, cured hams, fruit, yogurts, pasteries, juices and tea and coffee. We really enjoyed our stay and I would definitely return.

We stayed in a sea view room which was a nice size with lovely views but the windows were not soundproof or insulated so they were noisy and cold to sit by and kept me awake. Service was lacking at breakfast on the Tuesday morning and had to ask other guests where they got there cooked breakfast from as it wasn’t out for selection, so my husband asked someone cleaning tables and he asked us what we wanted! No choice given! Wednesday completely awful with a coach load of people in the very small breakfast room, we couldn’t move but were shown to seats buy a nice man and told it was self service, easier said than done with all the people I can tell you!! Unfortunately Tuesday when we got up the weather was horrible so we stayed in our room after breakfast and at 12 we went down to the bar to get lunch to find it shut till 4:30 so we had to brave the wind and rain to find some food! We then came back after a lot of walking to relax with a drink before dinner only to find the bar was now closed till 6pm all very frustrating! The hotel looks good but needs updating and better service. Three star rating at best! Car park too expensive too!

On arrival we thought the reception area was very stylish! Barry on reception was the most welcoming and helpful person I've ever come across in all the places I've stayed around the world. Our room was ideal and the beds where very comfortable. Breakfast was good with a hot and cold selection and there was bread for toast and croissants, but no breakfast rolls! The staff in the breakfast room worked very hard to make sure everything was constantly supplied.we really enjoyed are stay and will definitely stay here again.

Was not worth the money I paid. Room was tired and in need of some TLC. Bit of a warren to get to the room carpets and corridors need an upgrade definitely not 4 star standard. Could not get food after 7.50pm, not great after a 6 hour journey. Following morning breakfast was not great no seats in restaurant area. Not great definitely will not return. One plus staff were really friendly.

Business Trip. Clean Room, good amenities, comfy bed. Two comments - small shower cubicle. If you was large you would certainly struggle to get in and out. Breakfast area is small and gets busy with only a few visitors.

Breakfast was ok. Each morning when using the “quiet times” we found it busy, that wasn’t the issue. The issues we had was raw sausages each day and also the pastries needed to be replaced quicker.

The restaurant was not open when we checked in at 3pm and so we had to order from the bar menu , I had researched and the website said there would be afternoon tea but this was none existent,the food came promptly and was ok but I would’ve expected to be able to eat in the restaurant, the double room was very small with a view of a brick wall , I feel that the marketing for the rooms is misleading, why does the room say ‘View’ if there isn’t a view , I’ve stayed at this hotel in the past many times before it’s refurbishment and thought I’d try it again, the furnishings and change to reception is definitely a thumbs up but what a shame about the restaurant opening times
