Very dated hotel, no parking and road works meant a long walk around to a side entrance fit for dwarfs, shower was hopelessly inadequate, food was terrible and trying to find the room was a mission, plenty of better cheaper options around.

Very quaint hotel - lots of history. Bit like a rabbit warren inside so finding the room itself took patience :-) Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Adam Restaurant is a superb room with high curved ceilings and decorative plasterwork. Signage to the rooms and stairs could be better, and the bathroom was a bit tired but clean and functional. The multi storey car park is ony a 5 minute walk away. Hotle ideally situated near the Perth Museum, the cafe quarter and the shopping area with the River Tay only 100 yards walk.

Old and run down. Difficulty in getting around to room etc. The staff were understanding and quick to resolve the situation as we decided not to stay. Parking was very difficult and overpriced. Double yellow lines outside the hotel and all around. Had to walk from car park in the rain back to the hotel with our baggage etc. Parking would have been charged for at all times and very costly as we wanted to leave our car for the duration of our stay. Left for home in under 3 hours having chased around trying to find parking at a reasonable price. Was our diamond wedding anniversary....memorable for the wrong reasons!

Checking in by the young lady ( forgot name) was not only simple but informative with good knowledge on parking options depending on our car usage. With its unique corridors, stairways and bowing dining room floor; this hotel has bags of charm and is complimented by the amazing, friendly and attentive staff. We chose to eat in the hotel as the steak night deal was impressive and the quality of the food and wine did not disappoint.

The hotel is unique and positioned on the main road so access is easy. The staff were attentive to the guests, friendly and very obliging. There are no parking facilities at the hotel but there is a multi story car park close by. The hotel is in need of refurbishment, in particular the windows in order to suppress road noise. This is a friendly hotel, ideally situated for the center of town and surrounding places of interest. It does need to be refreshed.

The parking around the center was pathetic so having a car parking facility would have been more than helpful at the hotel. it's a shame but wouldn't use the hotel again due to this situation :(

Room was clean, and well appointed. Bathroom new, spotless and good shower. Overall decor is tired, but staff were efficient and friendly. Great location. Public parking nearby ( charges) Got a great sleep. Good value compared to other hotels in area.

We were given a lovely welcome on arrival by the receptionist and the same on departure.The hotel has a musty old smell almost damp. The rooms are so clean but worn and showing the test of time. The hotel was covered in scaffolding. The location is great so central. Overall I would stay again but would pay a bit extra for the superior room.

Has clearly had an illustrious history, but now needs a lot more renovation. This has started in some areas, but there is a lot of work still to be done in many rooms. The strangest thing is a very unpleasant smell on the first floor, outside the kitchens, a mixture of cleaning fluids and fish. The breakfast was very good and the location is very central for Perth.

Misleading... no room service. Last call for food is 8:15pm. Had to clean the shower myself. Bathroom tub had hair in it. Bathroom floor was full of hair. Killed three bugs as well. Never again.

Staff were friendly on check in but there was an odour to the place like an old people’s home. The carpets were threadbare in the halls and the room. And the noise from the street relentless, you could hear every conversation from passers by! It’s very dated and in desperate need of renovation.

I stayed here one night and it was perfectly nice, a bit of a maze and a small bathroom, but that's pretty standard for old buildings. The room was comfy and the location was convenient, and it was a very good price (especially in the off season). It's got some quirks, though. Like I said, it had a small bathroom and shower with nowhere to put your toiletries in the shower, so I had to put them on the ground, which was a bit tricky in the narrow stall. I wasn't able to access the wifi from my room, so I had to go into the lobby. They also use old-fashioned keys, which you have to turn in at reception when you leave the building. Other than that, though, I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

A lovely old hotel, emphasis on the old but not run down, just quirky, quaint and very nice. A surprisingly comfy bed but a front room overlooking the road so traffic noise an issue, not if you're a heavy sleeper though, unlike me :)

The check-in girl was helpful at the front desk. The strongly accented lady in the dining room, however, was quite difficult with me.I went down to have dinner on Sunday evening. I was looking forward to eating in the restaurant since it was raining outside. I asked to see the menu please. She picked up the menu and then held it against her chest. She said " You have to give me your room number first " I said well I only want something light. And I again requested to see the menu. If I don't know whats on offer I'll have to go somewhere else" I can't remember what she said next, but I just said Don't worry about it I'll go somewhere else. So I left. Got wet walking and looking for a restaurant in the rain. I did find a place. They were helpful. Thank heavens.

Lovely historic hotel in Perth. Friendly and incredibly attentive staff. Lovely breakfast. This is an old historic building and has many winding passageways which adds to its charm. Overall a great location and would happily stay again.

The staff was so friendly and helpful and kind. Was waiting for an early morning taxi and was offered coffee. Lovely hotel for the price and close to the everything.

Great location for the Perth Concert Hall: 6 minutes canny walk on the flat. 2 minutes walk from the closest car park. The room I had was large and bright, comfy bed and lovely shower and snacking extras.

So, this site started in 1699 so it has some quikiness to it. We had a standard double so,while not a large room, the space was used effectively. We felt comfortable. Only issue with bathroom- shower wasn't hot enough. Breakfast was good, bar made good drinks & staff were very helpful. It was very close to museums & the river walk.

Excellent location - city center on your doorstep. Hotel itself feels dated, needs a revamp but was clean and staff were very friendly. We stayed with 3 teenagers who loved it also. Cannot mention location enough! Walkable to train station also. Great spot.

The hotel was good for the price. Staff were friendly and facilities were good, if a little dated. We had a room which faced on to a busy road, and traffic noise etc. was a downer for us. If I return to this hotel, I would make sure I had a room that wasn’t facing the road.

The hotel is steeped in history. It is warm and charming, the woodwork in the lobby and restaurant transport you to another time. The staff was absolutely lovely. We ate several meals there and everything was delicious. 5 stars!

Property needs a massive face lift. Room 319 small, can’t open the bathroom door fully as it hits the sink. Shower had little pressure and limited hot water. Bath facing falling off, bath all stained and marked. Decor is outdated and still in the 80’s. Service in the bar was poor. The lady had an attitude not only to us but, other. Waiter must have been new but, needs a lot more training. Food was quick but, to a poor standard. 1 of our guest found a small stone in his main meal, tried to say it was a peppercorn but, it was clearly a small stone. Chipped his took. The fish was nice and crispy but, bland to the taste. Offered no gluten free so my wife only have 2 starters. Breakfast was shocking, cold over cooked food, soggy toast, only had black / white coffee. She could be bothered to go down and use the coffee machine in the bar. Breakfast was not busy yet we had a 10 mins wait for our tea and coffee.

An average hotel that's well placed on the main street in Perth so good access to amenities. Breakfast was cold unfortunately most of the time. Don't know what other food is like as ate out in the evenings.

Lovely classic hotel. Our room was very cozy & comfortable. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant & breakfast was hot & delicious too. We would definitely return.

We Had a Few issues but on speaking with the Manager he very quickly and efficiently sorted these out. The Food in the Dining Room and Bar was excellent as were the Servers. We would have no hesitation in using this Hotel again.

A good historical hotel which had very friendly staff and a great breakfast. It was fine for our recent trip to the Perth horse racing festival. We ate in the bar too on the evening and the chicken stuffed with haggis was excellent.

We arrived, two travelers in our mid-60s, with two heavy bags, to discover the lift out of operation. Our room was on the second floor. We had no idea about the layout of the building(s) - that it's a maze of narrow stairs and long corridors snaking from section to section. The desk attendant, rather than volunteering, "we'll have your bags brought up," said, "it's up to you, there's someone who can bring your bags if that's what you want." In no position to know any better, we started off on our own. Five minutes later we were still lugging our bags up stairs, sweating profusely. Honestly, Salutation Hotel: just have your staff carry older travelers' heavy luggage when your lift is out. Especially if you're putting them in a remote part of the hotel on an upper floor, as you did us. Our building was noticeably stuffier and warmer than the main building containing reception and the restaurants. And our room was warmer and stuffier still. Opening the windows did nothing to cool the room. A staff member did bring a small fan upon request, which we appreciated. The room was clean and the beds comfortable - though sleeping in the warm space was not easy.
