Lovely stay in old fashioned and charming country hotel. Liked that the old fixtures and fittings have been retained. Staff were helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the super location with nice gardens and wonderful walks on banks of the River Tay. Breakfast was included and was very good. Nice public rooms as well as seats in the grounds.

Very comfortable stay at Ballathie House Hotel! We stayed for two nights, Enjoyed walking the grounds and by the landscaped garden near the River Tay. We also played croquet, and badminton! Our room was comfortable, although a little warm and only one of the windows would stay open. Breakfast was a buffet style and had numerous options! We also dined one night, which was delicious, and also enjoyed whiskey in the bar another night with the very knowledgeable bartender, James, who was a wealth of information, and gave wonderful suggestions based on taste! We enjoyed our stay!

Spent 4 wonderful nights at this lovely Country House Hotel. The staff were all really friendly, especially the lady who greeted everyone at breakfast. The breakfasts were all excellent. Stunning views and walks around the grounds and along the River Tay. Relaxing evening watching some fly fishman and salmon jumping. Will definitely stay here again.

Lovely property, excellent service, and marvelous food. The bartender said he didn’t really know cocktails which was a bit surprising and a tad disappointing. Would have loved to go stalking but discovered we had to reserve that in advance. Will know next time.

Very picturesque setting and pretty garden areas. Annex was a good distance from the main entrance if it was wet. Good sized room and bathroom but TV was far to small in comparison to the room.

Staying in the sportsman's quarters was nice and quiet, very roomy, but not a part of the main building, if walking is a concern. There were no dining options - it's out in the country - other than at the Inn itself, which was a fairly expensive proposition. Tasty, but costly.

The Hotel is an old manor house with a number of out building locations on the bank of the river Tay. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, the food excellent. Some of the rooms were a little tired but now under new ownership there is an extensive refurbishment programme underway. The location with it's riverside walks is stunning. It is also greatly enhanced by the gardens surrounding the main house. My wife (an enthusiastic gardener) had some wonderful discussions with the gardener, Gordon who has been responsible for the design and planting of the beds over the last 9 years. HE is a great asset to the hotel, very skillful and extremely helpful when discussing plants. I don't think we can praise the hotel sufficiently. it offers excellent value for money and is an ideal base to explore the beautiful Perthshire countryside.

Lovely location. Riverside room which had an amazing view from the balcony. Rooms are large, well furnished, nice fittings and well equipped. Powerful shower which is great! Need to walk to main building for breakfast but the grounds are beautiful and the weather was nice so no problem. Plenty of parking

After finding this hotel last year we have returned 12 months later because we loved it so much. It's in a beautiful setting, right by the River Tay and the gardens and grounds are wonderful to walk in with lush green trees and birdsong. The staff are attentive and polite, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are clean, well equipped and traditionally furnished. The communal areas have so much charm and it's packed with original features and character. Please don't ever change, Ballathie House, we will definitely return.

We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens, overlooking the river. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was well presented with plenty of choice.

This was a beautiful house and location. Our room was in the lodge. The tub/sink/toilet were modern and the bed was clean and comfortable. But the room was a bit on the shabby side. It could do with some updating. The breakfast buffet was very good.

Stayed in one of the lodges, clean apart from dust around edges of carpet, very dated, floorboards creaky but overall good value for money when added to the main house. The staff were lovely the house and grounds fabulous, food, evening bar food and breakfast, was delicious. We would stay again in the main house.

What a charming property! The beds were awful but everything else was great! We had our own patio. The shower was amazing and the staff is so friendly and helpful! It is a little musty as all old buildings are but the charm made the allergies worth it.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful country house hotel. Staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable, large enough to have a seating area. A small irritation was the rather noisy kitchen extractor fan, directly below our window, which started very early each morning! Breakfast was excellent, well cooked, with plenty of choice. The area around the hotel is very well maintained, with beautiful gardens.

The hotel has the ambience of a beautiful country house, with many original features. We have stayed here many times and the hotel never fails to please. We stayed in the Sportsman Lodge with very dated and plain decor. The bathroom had black mould between the tiles and the duvet was thinner than any I can recall ever having slept under. The rooms were basic more reminiscent of a well worn Travel lodge than a Country house hotel. Guest facilities in the rooms were poor without even supplying shampoo for the shower. Towels were small and no face cloths provided. Tea and coffee making facilities were on a shelf barely big enough to hold the kettle. The floors creaked so loudly you could hear every step and movement of the guests next door and I probably shouldn't mention the lack of sound proofing. Sufficient to say we heard everything! and I mean everything! that happened in the room next door. Definitely not a place for a romantic night unless you want to share the encounter with the adjacent rooms. In all our overnight stay cost well over £300 and I think we would have had a more relaxing and certainly more private overnight stay in a Premier Inn. However the food was excellent and the level of service in the hotel and restaurant first class. Beautiful location and excellent food let down by the very average rooms. I expected much better for the price so overall it got an average score. Without the excellent food and service it would have been a 1 star from me.

The new rooms added to the original building are terrible and lack cleanness. Noise of water and doors, plus a fire alarm at 7:00 am. The surrounding area, the river and gardens are breathtaking though. Dinner expensive for what you get!

Room was clean and comfortable, with double aspect windows. Bathroom was clean, large and well-appointed. There was a rather noisy sound of a motor running during the night, but we coped with that. Breakfast had a wide choice and was well presented. This is a really lovely hotel, set in beautiful surroundings.

We were on a roadtrip from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye and picked this place randomly as a good stopping point to make headway on the drive. One of the best decisions we ever made and by far my favorite place we stayed at during the whole trip. The whole place is beautiful, inside and outside. We stayed at one of the riverside rooms and had a balcony where we could sit and watch the river. The surrounding areas are great for a morning walk and everyone is generally quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. My favorite part was breakfast. It felt like the ideal British breakfast experience where you’re sitting in a beautiful room, well lit by the morning sun, staring out the beautiful lush green view outside as you butter your toast and pour milk on your coffee. And the food was delicious too. Overall, an experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Scotland.

It was like stepping back into 1940. The bed was so uncomfortable I had to use the thin duvet to form a topper to stop the springs digging in. Hotel has a nice location.

Ballathie House is always a very pleasant place to stay. Staff are always friendly and efficient, the rooms in the main house are comfortable and pleasant, and breakfast is well presented and fresh. The gardens and river are a peaceful and quiet place for an evening walk.

Room was amazing and view across river breathtaking breakfast was beautiful. All staff very well mannered except bar-person who was very rude. Receptionist in morning said it is his sense of humour very disappointed totally unacceptable.

I did not like the fact the so called sportsmans' lodge was dated, tired and very cheaply furnished. Exterior of lodge building was cheaply glazed and outdated. Whole building unit of lodge needing upgraded. 1 of the staff condescending. Attended breakfast and was asked to move as they were tidying away the dining room. An extremely overpriced stay at £127. Drinks in main hotel grossly overpriced. All in all, an extremely disappointing stay for myself and my partner's birthday.

Spent 4 wonderful nights at this lovely Country House Hotel. The staff were all really friendly, especially the lady who greeted everyone at breakfast. The breakfasts were all excellent. Stunning views and walks around the grounds and along the River Tay. Relaxing evening watching some fly fishman and salmon jumping. Will definitely stay here again.

Staying in the sportsman's quarters was nice and quiet, very roomy, but not a part of the main building, if walking is a concern. There were no dining options - it's out in the country - other than at the Inn itself, which was a fairly expensive proposition. Tasty, but costly.

Lovely location. Riverside room which had an amazing view from the balcony. Rooms are large, well furnished, nice fittings and well equipped. Powerful shower which is great! Need to walk to main building for breakfast but the grounds are beautiful and the weather was nice so no problem. Plenty of parking

After finding this hotel last year we have returned 12 months later because we loved it so much. It's in a beautiful setting, right by the River Tay and the gardens and grounds are wonderful to walk in with lush green trees and birdsong. The staff are attentive and polite, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are clean, well equipped and traditionally furnished. The communal areas have so much charm and it's packed with original features and character. Please don't ever change, Ballathie House, we will definitely return.

Really enjoyable and relaxing stay. Room was a good size - could have done with a few modernisations but very comfortable. Meal was quality but expensive (£65 pp) - cheapest wine was £38 a bottle... Service and breakfast were excellent.

Lovely property, excellent service, and marvelous food. The bartender said he didn’t really know cocktails which was a bit surprising and a tad disappointing. Would have loved to go stalking but discovered we had to reserve that in advance. Will know next time.

Our overall experience of this hotel was great. Highlights were: the amazing food we had for dinner. A great deal of effort in both flavours and presentation ensured that every course was delicious. The food looked high-end and the service was excellent. The dining room is also beautiful, tasteful and full of character. The hotel itself is lovely, charming and characterful, with lots of landscaped grounds for our wee dog to explore. Our room (in the Riverside building) was comfortable and well-appointed, and had a balcony with a view of the River Tay. The room (and this building) was a little tired, but the hotel made us aware of their intentions to renovate, so this can be forgiven, and is more than made up for by the fantastic attitude of the staff, who were friendly and attentive, and the incredible food. We will definitely visit again.

The building itself is a period country house, with many original features. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, although perhaps a little refurbishment is needed. The staff were friendly and efficient. We did not have dinner, but the buffet breakfast was excellent. We will certainly be back.
